Medium is hiring a Remote Technical Recruiter Contract

This is a 6-month contract position and can be based anywhere within the U.S.\n\nWe believe that people are the key to success for any successful business and exploring possibilities with a new company should be an experience, not a process. We prioritize finding the right people without compromising quality or diluting culture. Recruiting is deeply integrated into the company’s values: that’s why we’re looking for someone who believes in our mission -- to build a place for thoughtful ideas on the internet -- and inspires candidates to do the same.\n\nIn this role, you will provide full lifecycle support to our Engineering team, working closely with a number of highly engaged hiring managers across the department. You’ll also work collaboratively with other Recruiting team members, the PeopleOps team, and other cross functional teams within the company. Because of this, we expect you to be organized, adaptable, and a strong communicator. You’ll also do well in this role if you’re someone who is optimistic, energized by a fast-paced environment, and flexible - we iterate often and things move quickly here.\n\nAt Medium, we foster an inclusive, supportive, fun yet challenging team environment. We value having a team that is made up of a diverse set of backgrounds and respect the healthy expression of diverse opinions. We embrace experimentation and the examination of all kinds of ideas through reasoning and testing. Come join us as we continue to change the world of digital media. Pitch's mission to change the way people craft, deliver, and share presentations is an ambitious one. In order to get there, we will need to grow in terms of the most valuable asset we've got: our people. As Senior Talent Acquisition Manager, you'll work across our organization to define the molds for new Pitchers, come up with innovative sourcing strategies to find and engage talent, and guide candidates through the process from first contact to contract signing with a blend of flair and empathy. Besides this day-to-day business of hiring, you'll be take on broader initiatives to make our hiring process more efficient, data-driven, transparent, and contributing to making our team more diverse.\n\n## What you'll get to do\n\n* Manage the full recruitment cycle: from initial briefing with our hiring teams to sourcing candidates, to extending offers.\n* Propose and pursue innovative sourcing methods and channels e.g. social media which help Pitch reach diverse, top-tier talent no matter where they're based.\n* Continuously look for ways we can improve our hiring process with better tools, reporting, communication flows, and more.\n* Contribute to the People team's efforts to build an Employer Brand that's the envy of tech startups globally.\n\n## The role is perfect for you if\n\n* You have experience managing end-to-end recruitment cycles for a variety of roles, ideally with hiring technical talent for startups.\n* You bring understanding of various active sourcing methods and platforms from the usual suspects (LinkedIn, Github, etc.) to the more experimental (Clubhouse, Codepen, etc).\n* You're committed to diversity and are ready to make diversity goals part of your day-to-day workflow.\n* You approach recruitment with a quality over quantity mindset. You'd rather send out 10 well-crafted, thoughtful InMails to surefire candidates and provide them with a great experience rather than sending 100 sloppy templates to long-shot candidates.\n* You have an appreciation for how data can be used to optimize hiring processes and are regularly consulting the numbers when adjusting your approach.\n* Experience working in a remote company with mostly asynchronous communication would be ideal.\n* Major bonus points for bringing prior experience with writing English copy in a marketing or branding context. The success of our Employer Brand and Talent team's internal communication depends on the clarity and catchiness of our written words, so the more confident you feel in this regard, the better.\n\nWe value diversity of perspective and seek to build an inclusive workplace that welcomes people from all different backgrounds. Associate Director, Hire Hopkins\n\nGeneral Summary/Purpose:\n\nHire Hopkins, one of three new innovation offices at Johns Hopkins University is a remote-first, newly launched, start-up department. We're focused on developing relationships with employers from a wide variety of industries to enhance job recruitment opportunities for students at all nine academic divisions of the university. Our purpose is to lead and streamline the interactions major employers have with the university to ensure that neither side misses an opportunity to connect a talented and qualified student with a potential job. We support Hopkins grads and post-doctorate fellows towards getting multiple offers for jobs they're excited about.\n\nTo provide some context about this office, Johns Hopkins University has developed an ambitious vision to continue to integrate life design, experiential learning, and mentoring in the academic and co-curricular learning experience for all students and postdoctoral fellows. Under the leadership of Dr. Farouk Dey, the inaugural vice provost for integrative learning and life design, the university has announced the creation of three new departments and several new initiatives and mission that will ensure that every student and postdoctoral fellow will have the ability to pursue life purpose regardless of background, field of study, or social capital. Read more about this plan here.\n\nThis new vision is focused on scalability of resources and services. For this transformation to work, traditional one-on-one counseling and coaching services are taking a backseat to a culture of scalable programs and interventions. Those who thrive as counselors, advisors, and coaches and do not enjoy the intense focus on scalability and metrics may not be the best fit for this organization.\n\nAbout the role:\n\nReporting to the Executive Director of Hire Hopkins, the Associate Director of Hire Hopkins will assist in building relationships with companies for the benefit of all students, postdoctoral fellows, and alumni at Johns Hopkins University. The Associate Director will work to attract top employers who can work with multiple schools across the university and grow employer representation at all divisions and departments. They will work closely with the Executive Director to collaborate with leadership across the university, career centers, Johns Hopkins Tech Ventures (JHTV), DAR, and Corporate Relations to implement institution-wide programs that help university staff to best engage employers and ultimately, recruit talent for internships and employment. At its core, this is a highly collaborative and strategic position that will require coordinating business development, meetings, phone calls, training and follow-up actions among employers, career centers, and schools.\n\nBecause Hire Hopkins is a “start-up” office, the Associate Director will also need to be able to help the Executive Director successfully launch Hire Hopkins within a decentralized university by offering operational support, which can vary from marketing & communications, to learning & development.\n\nThis is a great opportunity for someone with a proven track-record in employer development, recruiting, business development, and/or sales who would also enjoy supporting operationally and doing whatever is needed to make things work. This is a “start-up” type operation with the perks of a larger organization's resources.\n\nSpecific Duties & Responsibilities:\n\n• Develop strategies for targeting decision-makers at companies in order to book meeting pitches.\n• Lead outbound outreach (cold calls, sending emails, and leading high-level discovery calls) with companies who can work with and hire Johns Hopkins graduates and post-doctorate fellows.\n• Drive hiring partner pipeline through setting up qualified meetings with top employers.\n• Identify potential hiring partners and act as a front door for those partners into Hopkins.\n• Initiate and coordinate partner engagement including site visits or alternative options to explore opportunities for future or expanded collaboration.\n• Take a leadership role in coordinating all aspects of deal negotiation and oversee hiring partnerships from identification through closure stage. Attention to detail and proper follow up is critical.\n• Conduct market research and forecast hiring trends of top employers.\n• Collaborate with colleagues across divisions and units, especially Johns Hopkins Tech Ventures (JHTV), Corporate Relations, Development & Alumni relations, and the career centers to ensure a unified approach. Maintain and continue to build relationships within the university to create a culture of trust and collaboration.\n• Be a subject matter expert on Johns Hopkins University's various schools, departments, and students, what they bring to the table, and how they compare to other talent pools.\n• Report weekly to the Executive Director on market intelligence gained, business development activity and success.\n• Use Salesforce and other relevant tech tools to track actions, metrics, and results.\n• Manage ongoing relationships with partners at a high level, and work with employer engagement staff members to communicate reporting milestones and other progress.\n• Support engagement in social media, digital outlets, and academic and professional journals and associations to establish Hire Hopkins as an exciting brand, tell the story, and serve as a thought leader at Johns Hopkins University, industry, and in higher education.\n• Willingness and ability to travel up to 25-30%.\n\nThe Ideal Candidate:\n\nThe ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, data and outcomes driven, strong in planning and execution, comfortable leading programs and interventions with groups, and enjoys developing relationships and connections with multiple stakeholders at once. They must be transparent, open-minded, creative and committed to working and unifying members in a heavily decentralized institution. Also, the ability to resolve complex problems while maintaining a sense of humor and a solution-oriented, positive attitude is critical.\n\nWe have modernized our approach and expect that our teams can work from anywhere for the purpose of scaling our impact across the institution. For this model to work, the ideal candidate must present excellent skills in relationship development, being self-driven, and engaging audiences in groups digitally. The ideal candidate has experience working remotely and is comfortable with co-working and flexible work arrangements. We expect the ideal candidate to be available during the Eastern time zone and comfortable working from a home office or co-working space. We will provide a laptop, cellphone, and co-working stipend if need be.\n\nA big plus if they are an effective user of tech tools, social media, and other digital outlets to engage multiple audiences, strengthen individual and organizational brand, scale impact, and influence public opinion.\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n• Bachelor's degree required.\n• Three (3) years recent direct experience in business development, sales, HR consulting, or recruiting with large-scale organizations.\n• Proven track-record of having successfully executed business development and negotiated partnerships.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n• 2+ years operational experience in start-up, small business, or decentralized higher ed environments.\n• Professional experience in marketing, communications, branding, and/or social media.\n• Experience in college recruiting.\n\nSpecial Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\n\n• Must have a mastery of best practice in prospecting, sales, recruiting and business development.\n• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. Great listener, strong presenter, and a highly professional image with the ability to interact with people at all levels (from staff members to C-suite executives). You're comfortable both drafting a memo and making a 20 minute presentation to an audience.\n• Strong problem solving, negotiation and persuasion skills. You're able to get buy-in by connecting with what employers need.\n• Enthusiasm for the clarity that metrics bring. An obsession for clearly tracking and measuring results.\n• Must be able to demonstrate effective time management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision, while delivering on-target results.\n• Extremely organized and takes an analytical approach to solving any kind of problem. Brings clarity to complex situations and is able to be solution-oriented and positive under pressure.\n• Record of success in securing large deals and/or partnerships.\n• Comfortable working within a complex, multi-divisional environment to establish priorities, set objectives and achieve stated goals.\n• Demonstrated motivational and consensus-building skills.\n• Commitment to the use of information technology and the management of database systems.\n\nClassified Title: Business Program Manager\nWorking Title: Associate Director, Hire Hopkins \nRole/Level/Range: ATP/04/PD\nStarting Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience\nEmployee group: Full Time\nSchedule: Mon-Fri 8:30-5\nExempt Status: Exempt\nLocation: 01-MD:Homewood Campus\nDepartment name: 60009252-Integrative Learning and Life Design\nPersonnel area: Homewood Student Affairs\n\nThe successful candidate(s) for this position will be subject to a pre-employment background check.\n\nIf you are interested in applying for employment with The Johns Hopkins University and require special assistance or accommodation during any part of the pre-employment process, please contact the HR Business Services Office at mailto:[email protected] For TTY users, call via Maryland Relay or dial 711.\n\nThe following additional provisions may apply depending on which campus you will work. Hi there,\n\nI'm Gavin, founder and CEO at Acuity Scheduling.\n\nI’m proud to say we’ve been helping small businesses manage their appointments for 11 years now. In that time, we’ve grown. What started with me pecking away at a keyboard all by my lonesome has turned into a company with nearly 40 employees scattered around the globe. And we’re continuing to grow at a healthy pace.\n\nBut I need your help.\n\nWe've been able to build a completely remote company with a phenomenal culture and happy employees. And I want Acuity to stay that way. It is deeply important to me that our people are happy — more important to me than just raking in profits. But people aren't my forte. And, as we grow, I'm being pulled in many different directions. So we need someone like you to work full-time to maintain our happiness.\n\nCan you help us to continue to grow and to enjoy our jobs more?\n\n**REQUIREMENTS**\n\nHere's some of what you'll be expected to do:\n\n* Think of new ways to delight remote employees\n* Oversee our benefits and manage them in conjunction with Justworks (our PEO)\n* Help ensure job postings and interviews are fair and inclusive\n* Make sure new employees feel supported even before they start\n* Work with other folks to organize company retreats\n* Find ways to keep the pulse of employee morale\n* Keep me informed of issues so we can solve them together\n* You're all about ethics, and you want to be sure we're always on the right side of employment laws\n\n\nExperience in these areas will help:\n\n* You've helped other managers get better at their jobs\n* You know your way around insurance (PPO, HMO, and POS are more than just letters slurped from your alphabet soup)\n* Extending job offers is something you can do in your sleep\n* You've helped terminate enough people to know how painful it can be, as well as what to do in advance to avoid surprises\n\n**BENEFITS**\n\nAnd by the way? These other qualities would probably help bucketsful:\n\n* You’re in favor of having 100% of your medical, dental, and vision premiums covered.\n* 401K is your middle name. (Or if you just really like the idea of having 3% of your salary contributed to one.)\n* You’re an autodidact. Go on. Look it up. (You’ll get a $5,000 credit toward continuing your education.)\n\nIf this description sounds like you, there’s a chance that I’d like to offer you $80k-$115k, straight-up cash money. I mean, it’d be in exchange for your professional services each year, but still.\n\nWrite me. Or, you know, fill out the application that I will review personally.\n\ncheers,\n\n-Gavin \n\nBe sure to mention the words **BLOSSOM ROAD LATIN** when applying to show you read the job post completely. As the HR Coordinator you will be performing background checks on our potential employees, review and revise our hiring emails, update and maintain our career boards and other tasks associated with hiring new talent for the company.\nYou will spend the first 4-6 months with us in SE Asia training with our management team. This position has the potential to become location-independent once your training is done and you can expect some travel. (SE Asia, Europe, US, etc.) You will be in a probationary period for the first six months, and afterwards we’ll have you up and running as an HR Coordinator.\nYou should either be a digital nomad or interested in the digital nomad lifestyle. This is very important for this role, since our entire company is remote and our people are regularly on the move. We would need you to be knowledgeable about the unique challenges that comes with managing such a remote team so you can best serve them.\nIdeally, we would want you to be based primarily out of SE Asia since so much of our team tends to live in this part of the world. This would allow you to meet face to face with the team fairly regularly and also travel to several events we do around the region every year. \n\nBe sure to mention the words **SPACE MIRACLE STING** when applying to show you read the job post completely. \nYOU'RE THE BEST\n\nYou're a talented full stack .NET developer and you consistently deliver. You're looking for an exceptional team atmosphere and an environment that's professional but relaxed, goal-driven but experimental and operates like a well-run startup.\n\nYou may even want to work remotely from another city or state - that's totally fine with us. Yep, we're living the dream and we earn our privileges. If that sounds like you, read on…\n\nONE OF US…\n\nWe're an agile, entrepreneurial-led team of kick-arse developers that have pushed the envelope for the last year, architecting experiences for the building and construction industry.\n\nWe operate within a larger corporate environment and enjoy our status as the 'Pirates' of the organisation, leading the charge with modern development techniques and lean-startup thinking.\n\nWe use GIT, Team City, Octopus deploy, Jira, AWS and Slack, to mention just a few of the many apps we're constantly evaluating, play with and frequently adopt. You would be joining us as we take the next evolutionary step in our software development as we develop MVPs, test our hypotheses and develop new services that have a positive impact on our customers' lives.\n\nYou're bringing a wealth of sorcery across C#, SQL, Cloud/AWS, WebApi/MVC and outstanding development practices/patterns.\n\nFRIENDS WITH BENEFITS\n\nWe're a high performing team of developers and we're looking for some exceptional team orientated developers to join our merry crew. This is a permanent opportunity that comes with:\n\n+ The ability to drive and improve the product with your ideas and insight\n\n+ Make a different to people's lives through technology and learn\n\n+ Highly attractive base salary, 12% Super, Leave loading\n\n+ And a sweet-as team based bonus (which we achieved last year)\n\nOur flat structure and energy ensures that everyone's opinion is heard and contributes directly to the future of the product, and as our capabilities grow, we can really see teams forming under our Senior Devs.\n\nThis really is an extremely rare opportunity; be part of a team of where your unique talent and capabilities will be recognised, rewarded and revered.\n\nON-SITE OR WORK REMOTELY\n\nWhile we are based in beautiful sunny Sydney, it's not a requirement to have you work in the office.\n\nWe're looking for self starters who can work remotely, chip in to planning sessions and stand-up via Slack, and who are comfortable and productive working from their home or home office. If you want to work with us in Sydney you would be more than welcome however, it's certainly not a requirement.\n\nWhile other companies might talk about work-life balance, we actually live it and we want to share this opportunity with you.\n\nARE YOU READY?\n\nTake a look at our website at www.csrconnect.com.au and if you're keen to learn more, send an email to our Recruitment Advisor Sam Chan at [email protected] or call 02 9964 1237. If you’re not familiar, Codementor is a site where we pair amazing developers with people who are looking for mentorship to help their programming skills.\n\nWe have a unique, long-term, opportunity that we’re looking for the right fit for.\n\nWe’re looking for a developer who has experience with both node.js and d3.js who is available around four hours per day (five days per week) for the next few months to mentor a student via online chat and video. Experience with both technologies and fluency in English is required. The price point we can pay is around $30 per hour, some wiggle room is doable but we’d like to stay close to that price point.\n\nIf this describes you and you’re interested and available then please respond and we’ll talk more.\n\nThanks!\nMarc \n\n#Equity\n - \n\n\n#Location\nVirtual
