Skyverge | Customer Support Specialist
Skyverge
ecommerce3>wordpress3>support3>non tech3> | ecommerce3>wordpress3>support3>non tech3> | | 1mo
Hiya. We’re SkyVerge and we love eCommerce. Our products help merchants manage and grow their online stores, all the way from boutique corner shop to Fortune 500 retailers. We’re looking for two Customer Support Specialists to join our fully-distributed team and help support our entire suite of products.
The Role
You’ll be the first point of contact for our customers, helping them with problems, and answering questions. As part of a small team, you'll likely get your hands dirty with a little bit of everything.
Here are some things you may do on a given day:
- Assist customers by troubleshooting technical problems and escalating to the engineering team as needed
- Answer pre-sales questions, billing & account changes, and other feedback from customers
- Monitor social media and forums where customers may have questions or issues with our products and get them the help they need
- Help with customer onboarding by installing and modifying code on customers’ stores
- Write technical documentation and other content so customer’s can help themselves
- Help our engineering & product teams to identify areas where we can improve the customer experience
- Document and optimize our support process to improve customer satisfaction
With over 70 products across the three eCommerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads) that we support, there's plenty to learn. You’ll be expected to own the support queue for a set of products for a week before rotating to another set. We’re aiming for you to have broad knowledge (mile-wide, inch-deep) and work closely with the product & engineering team to tackle more technical or in-depth questions that go beyond your knowledge.
You
You have that unique combination of technical aptitude and empathy for the user. You’re comfortable with code but prefer to be customer-facing. You’re self-driven with a sense of urgency and draw satisfaction from going above and beyond to provide solutions. You’re an excellent communicator and have the ability to thrive in a distributed environment. Perhaps most importantly, you have a willingness to learn.
To succeed in this position, you will have:
- solid understanding of HTML / CSS
- Working knowledge of JavaScript
- Native-level fluency in English (Are you fluent in other languages? Tell us! We love being able to support customers in their native language.)
- Outstanding written communication and interpersonal skills
- Boundless curiosity for our products and our customers
- Ability to thrive in a remote environment (along with a reliable internet connection)
It’s helpful if you have:
- Experience with PHP / Ruby (or other programming languages)
- Experience with WordPress
- Experience with Shopify / WooCommerce (or other eCommerce platforms)
- Experience supporting SaaS products
- Experience supporting downloadable software (especially in the LAMP stack)
Our team is fully-remote and we communicate primarily through Slack, GitHub, and weekly stand-ups on Monday via Zoom (a few short meetings on Monday) — we believe the best work happens when given lots of uninterrupted time that’s free of distractions.
As a remote team, we believe that regular meet-ups are invaluable for getting to know each other better, so you should be available for 1-2 company-paid team trips per year. Curious about these trips? Check out our recap of our last team retreat (SkyTrip) to get an idea of what they’re like.
This is a full-time, salaried position, but hours are flexible. We know your work will speak for itself with thoughtful replies to customers, wiki edits, and published documentation.
Process
Qualified candidates will get an email with a few questions to answer via email. Following that, you’ll have a few 30 minute phone chats with different people on our team to learn more about you and answer any questions you have about the position and company.
If this goes well, we’ll invite you to join our team and start your 30-day Bootcamp. This is a trial period where you’ll work full-time as a contractor, or part-time on nights/weekends if you already have a full-time position. This gives you an opportunity to make sure you enjoy the work and the team, and it gives us an opportunity to evaluate your work. We’ll have regular chats each week to share feedback and make sure we’re on the same page. At the end of the 30 days, you’ll be offered a permanent position 🙂
Benefits Here are some benefits we're excited to offer to our team members:
- Competitive salary
- Annual incentive for meeting team and company goals
- 25 days of paid time-off, in addition to 2 company holidays (SkyVerge Day in March, Founders Day in June 😀)
- Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance for US and Canadian residents and their families (reimbursements for comparable care for non-US/Canadian residents)
- 401k/RRSP Retirement plan with 4% company match for US/Canadian residents (contributions to comparable plans for non-US/Canadian residents)
- Work from anywhere that has a reliable internet connection
- The tools (hardware/software) you need to be productive
- Allowance for professional growth (books, courses, conferences)
- Home office or co-working allowance
- A Kindle to help you keep learning
We support workplace diversity and do not discriminate on any protected class. We believe when we work together as a team of different views, experiences, and ideas, we can build amazing things.

Salehoo.com | Talented Ecommerce Copywriter
Salehoo.com
amazon3>ecommerce3>copywriting3>non tech3> | amazon3>ecommerce3>copywriting3>non tech3> | | 1mo
SaleHoo.com is a New Zealand-based company creating online tools and training for people looking to start their own online businesses. We’re based in Christchurch, but the majority of our team work remotely from various places around the world. (Living in the future FTW!)
We're looking for a talented individual to join us in writing content for our popular drop ship and wholesale directory.
Our directory contains an educational section covering topics including eBay selling, Amazon selling, what products sell well online, how to market physical products online, importing and shipping and so on.
We're looking for someone with experience with these topics and industry to help us write lessons, scripts and blog posts (and whatever else turns up!).
- You should be experienced in at least several aspects of this industry: For instance, online selling, wholesale sourcing, marketing physical products.
- You must be able to break a task down and get right to the heart of it: No lessons full of fluff, no beating around the bush. Our users want clear-as-day, step-by-step, hype-free lessons.
- You should be a clear thinker: Able to objectively analyse a piece and ask yourself whether it is truly succeeding in what it's trying to do, and not afraid to overhaul something that isn't working.
- You must be good at paying attention to detail and checking facts (things change rapidly in this industry!)
- And obviously, your technical grasp of English must be good and things you write must be readable and make sense. The "making sense" part is the most important. We can handle the odd erroneously-placed apostrophe, so long as the heart and structure of the writing is A-OK!
This is a great opportunity to flex your writing muscles. While a lot of the content can be reasonably technical, the way we write the content has to be friendly, entertaining, personable and accessible to a wide audience.
While qualifications or experience in writing or journalism would be valuable, we're more interested in industry knowledge and your ability to write with clarity. If you think you've got the spark we're after... then we want to hear from you.
Neat things about working with us:
- Flexible hours (we are happy to discuss full-time, part-time, contracting for the role).
- Work from home (or from our Christchurch office)
- Relaxed, ego-free, family-friendly work culture
How do you apply? We're looking for people with good problem-solving skills, good communication skills, and the willingness to go the extra mile for our customers, so here’s what you need to do. Record a short (2-3 minute) cover letter video and upload it somewhere where we can see it. Tell us a little bit about yourself, and why you think you’d be great for this role. Including a couple of examples of your work that are published online. Email for jobs@doubledotmedia.com (Subject: Copywriter Position) with your PDF CV, examples and video link. Easy :) Apply for this Job |

Somewherewarm | Woocommerce Support Engineer
Somewherewarm
engineer3>ecommerce3>wordpress3>support3> | engineer3>ecommerce3>wordpress3>support3> | | 2mo
We are looking for a WooCommerce Support Engineer to become the driving force behind happiness at SomewhereWarm and beyond. As the first Support Engineer to join SomewhereWarm, you will be:
- providing an amazing support experience to our customers, while keeping an eye out for valuable feedback,
- sharing knowledge and collaborating with our partners using your excellent written communication skills,
- investigating issues, writing detailed bug reports, tracking down bugs and contributing fixes to code,
- reviewing and writing great support documentation that balances the expectations and needs of all agents involved in building, using and supporting our products,
- contributing to product development by helping prioritize new features and writing code,
- suggesting and implementing new testing methodologies and tools,
- following a schedule that suits you and working from wherever you like.
Your role will often require you to solve tricky riddles that go well beyond basic troubleshooting and require a solid technical understanding of PHP, WordPress, WooCommerce and sometimes JavaScript/jQuery. You will also need good working knowledge of the Apache/Nginx & Linux server environment and must be adept at spinning up development/test sites.
You will be starting as a part-time WooCommerce Support Engineer, collaborating with: i) the full stack developer behind SomewhereWarm, ii) a globally distributed team of engineers from partner companies responsible for some of the most popular WooCommerce extensions, and iii) the team behind WooCommerce.
In addition to your part-time duties, you will be encouraged to invest time in developing your own personal skills, pick up development projects from our queue, contribute to WooCommerce, or work on your own projects. Eventually, you will be free to decide if you would like this to become your full-time role.
You
- are patient and aware of your strengths and weaknesses,
- are keen to observe and listen, but also eager to share experiences and expertise,
- love autonomy and are comfortable with self-directed work,
- value self-improvement above self-promotion,
- strive to acquire new skills and knowledge and always finish what you start,
- possess excellent written communication skills and a natural talent for bending language to your will,
- have an analytical mind and a knack for breaking down huge tasks into tiny, manageable chunks.
On a technical level, you:
- have professional experience with HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL and WordPress APIs,
- have basic working knowledge of JavaScript and jQuery and a strong desire to learn more.
- have written WordPress or WooCommerce themes/plugins,
- are comfortable with git and GitHub,
- have proven experience in technical support.
Ideally, you:
- have a university degree in computer science or engineering, or at least 2+ years professional experience,
- have supported a WordPress plugin or theme in a previous role,
- have previously worked in a global, distributed environment,
- have working knowledge of Backbone.js, React.js or Vue.js,
- use VVV or Docker,
- have contributed to WordPress or WooCommerce.
SomewhereWarm
SomewhereWarm is a tiny company that loves the warm, bright, windy side of e-commerce: The one that empowers any idea to come to life, grow and have the impact it deserves. This is why we live and breathe WooCommerce!
We are dedicated to contributing to the WooCommerce ecosystem and take pride in having built some of the most sought-after extensions in the official WooCommerce marketplace. Our software currently powers thousands of websites. So far we've built Product Bundles, Composite Products, and a few smaller plugins, such as Conditional Shipping and Payments and Subscribe all the Things, a forward-looking mini-extension for WooCommerce Subscriptions.
SomewhereWarm welcomes, supports and rewards autonomy and entrepreneurship. We know that genuinely self-driven individuals will produce their best results when left alone to shine. For us, working from anywhere you like and choosing when to start your day is the only way to ensure an efficient, healthy working environment.
Our HQ is located in Athens, Greece. If (by some weird coincidence or questionable decision-making) you live in the area, we have plenty of coffee, a whiteboard and a spare desk waiting for you.
The Process
- Send an email to me@somewherewarm.gr, and tell us what makes you a good fit for this position. You don't need to attach a CV as long as you can find an equally (or more) efficient and involving way to present yourself (in human-readable format). Some things we'd love to know about you:
- Why do you want to work with us?
- Have you done any technical support before? What did you like and what did you dislike about it?
- What is your most and least favorite thing about WordPress? About WooCommerce?
- A store owner reports an issue. What are the first troubleshooting steps you take?
- Have you built something that you are proud of and that you'd like to share?
- Where did you hear about this job?
- We will contact you within two weeks. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to have an informal text-chat interview via Slack soon after that.
- As a follow-up, we will invite you to a short video interview.
- You will be selected to take part in a brief trial based on your overall presence and application.
- We will make a final decision and discuss the results with you!

- fluency in a second (human) language
- professional experience with React.js
- professional experience with jQuery and Node.js
- professional experience working on a system using a microservices architecture
- involvement with your local WordPress community (meetups, WordCamps etc.)
- involvement with the global WooCommerce community (submitted patches to WooCommerce core or similar)
- evidence of a contributing nature (we’re a small team and everyone is responsible for the quality of the work we produce.)
About us Prospress (pronounced “prosperous”) is a small but friendly bunch that loves eCommerce. We love building software that gives entrepreneurs the tools and freedom to do what they love! We think WooCommerce is the best thing to happen to the web since WordPress and are dedicated to strengthening the WooCommerce ecosystem through building software, content, and community on top of WooCommerce.
But that’s just the beginning. We have some new products in the works, as well as new versions of Subscriptions, and we’d love you to help us work on these ideas.
Prospress is a distributed company, which means our team is located across the globe, and everyone can work from home in their pyjamas if they wish (in our view, this is definitely one of the perks of the job). We don’t mind where you live, because we’re a distributed company. HQ (and we use that term loosely) is in San Francisco, but we also have people in Australia, Canada, and elsewhere in the US.
Despite being distributed globally, we have a great work environment online, with weekly video hangouts, chat communication via Slack, and a genuinely caring team. This role will give you great opportunities to learn new skills while consolidating existing strengths. We are professional, but relaxed and apply a very loose agile methodology to our engineering workflow, with biweekly SCRUMs. All software development is managed through GitHub. All patches to our software go through code-review from at least one other team member, which means you’ll get feedback from other developers on every piece of work you complete. We expect that you will quickly be contributing to our software which will then ship to run live on thousands of websites within your first few weeks of joining us.
We offer some pretty neat benefits, including: - a sliding leave policy (you start with four weeks per year and it grows to five weeks after you’ve been with us for five years)
- your own Professional Development fund to cover the cost of self-guided learning
- stock options, so that our company becomes your company
- medical insurance if you’re in the US
- fair pay and recognition - salary is negotiable based on experience
- autonomy and flexibility
A Day in the Life of Prospress Engineer To give you an idea of a what it's like to work with us, this is a brief summary of a day in the (working) life of a Prospress engineer.
9:00am: you arrive at the “office”, which may be a coworking space, cafe, or spare room, maybe while still in your pyjamas. You choose where you work best. You also choose when to start your day (so it might be 9am, it might be 5 am, it might be 12pm… it’s up to you).
9:01am: you review Slack messages from the rest of the Prospress team. These range from team members discussing technical issues with our software, to sharing links about interesting (and mostly relevant) news in WordPress, WooCommerce, eCommerce, Cryptocurrency, Security, AI or tangential fields, like Behavioural Economics.
9:15am: you open GitHub to find unassigned Issues with the highest priority and self-assign one to start working on, or perhaps check on the latest updates to a Pull Request from another team member you reviewed yesterday. You fire up your favourite tools for WordPress development and begin the day’s hacking. You choose what to work on most of the time and how you want to work.
And that’s about where the typical day ends. The rest is entirely up to you.
You can take lunch where/when you want. You can end the day, or break it up however you need to in order to maximise your productivity. Everyone on our team is given autonomy in their day and tasks because we believe the best people know how to do their best work and will strive to do it when left alone. The only requirements we have are a fortnightly SCRUM for 1 hour, fortnightly team hangout for 1 hour, and a 4 week support rotation every few months to make sure you keep connected to our users.
We appreciate this isn’t the right environment for everyone. It requires a genuine desire and self-discipline to constantly strive to improve your work. It’s also not suited for extroverts who love a physical water cooler for chatting with colleagues (although we do have a virtual water cooler). For the right people, this freedom and autonomy will allow you to thrive.
If this sounds great to you, we'd love to have you apply for the role. The next section explains how to do that.
About the process We know job applications are stressful, so we want to make this process as painless as possible (and maybe even fun and exciting!) This is how it’s going to go down: Step 1: Submit your application by 20th October. Step 2: We will contact only the shortlisted applicants via email within one month, inviting them to a quick 30 minute interview (via video call or chat). Step 3: Based on the interview and the original applications, we will invite a number of the shortlisted candidates to take part in a three month trial. Step 4: At the end of the trial, we will invite our chosen applicants to join a full team hangout (via video call). Step 5: We’ll offer the position.
Here is some additional information about the process: Q: I submitted an application but I didn’t hear anything back. What happened?
A: If you don’t hear from us, unfortunately, you didn’t get through to the shortlist this time.
Q: Is it a formal interview?
A: We have a number of structured questions, but are also quite an informal company. The goal of the interview is to get a sense for you as a person and for you to get a sense for us as a company. The questions are meant to act as an impetus for discussion that helps us both achieve that.
Q: What sort of questions will be asked?
A: There will be a few of the usual questions like “Why do you want to work with us?” and “What would you say is the best thing you’ve ever built?”; but we will also have a few that should be new to you. Any technical questions will be more philosophical than practical, like “What do you like about WordPress?” rather than “What is a hook in WordPress?”. The interview is more about you as a person - your application and the trial are to check your technical skills, so the interview is about finding people with the right attitude.
Q: Will it be a video or voice or text chat?
A: We can do whichever you prefer, please let us know if you have a preference, otherwise we will make a choice.
Q: Will everyone move on to the trial stage?
A: Unfortunately not. While we’d love to offer trials to everyone, not all of our shortlisted candidates will go through to a trial. We will let you know as soon as possible after the initial interview whether you have been selected for a trial.
Please, no recruiters or unsolicited offers.

This is a new, flexible role driven by an expanding client workload. It's a great fit if you're looking for big impact, constant learning, and project/skill diversity.
We're particularly interested in UX unicorns who can 1) do both research and design, 2) bring Lean UX methods to enterprise projects, and 3) mentor, train and lead others.
Job basics:
Full-time hours About half our team and clients are in the greater DC area, so we have some preference for candidates in DC/MD/VA. You should generally be available during our core working hours of 10am to 4pm ET Hourly rate pay structure
You should have in-depth experience with:
All major qualitative and quantitative UX research methods, including usability testing, card sorts, tree tests, interviews, personas, heuristic evaluations, field studies, surveys and A/B testing Identifying the most important research questions and the best research methods to answer them Sketching, wireframing and prototyping across a wide range of industries and platforms — including plenty of mobile projects Information architecture and interaction design Developing UX strategies that align with business goals and KPIs You should also have some experience — or at least interest — in other UX unicorn facets like visual design, content strategy, and front-end coding.
Beyond UX, we do lots of work in SEO/SEM, conversion rate optimization, and web analytics — and we take a holistic approach that connects these to our UX work. Bonus points if you have experience in these related areas.
In this role you will:
Focus on about 3 projects at a time yet gain exposure to all 10+ of our ongoing client projects — across travel, financial services, e-commerce, non-profit and health care Define UX strategies and help identify the best research methods and tactics to support them; communicate frequently with clients and gain buy-in Roll up your sleeves and do research and design for our biggest clients and most challenging projects Give feedback and guidance on most of our UX research and design work — from recruiting screeners to card sort analysis to visual mocks Collaborate daily with our project manager, other UXers, and marketers
Your 12-month performance review could look like this:
You increased by 75% the number of successful A/B experiments we run each month by integrating Lean UX techniques. You created 12 best practice guides and led training sessions for clients on a variety of UX topics, from personas to IA research to mobile form usability. You implemented a quarterly test-measure-iterate cycle for 5 clients, that combines research, design, A/B testing and analytics; this led to 8 great case studies. You became an active, visible member of the UX community. You published in respected blogs and spoke at industry conferences and meetups. This led to 2 exciting new enterprise clients. You helped overhaul our research and design workflows by introducing more collaborative techniques.

OAMM is committed to steady growth, self-funding, and evolving our product in an effort to better serve our customers.
OAMM’s technology stack consists of three apps written in Ruby on Rails, Ember.js, and WordPress. We have a proven business model and a growing membership that is heavily supported by APIs built on Rails that will continue to evolve.
Technology Stack:
- Ruby on Rails
- Ember.js
- Coffeescript
- MySQL
- Postgres
- Solr
- WordPress
- Sass
Our Ideal Candidate:
OAMM is looking to add to its technology team by hiring an Experienced Ruby Developer.
We’re looking for a friendly developer who can work well with our remote team, have fun on Slack, and write maintainable, scalable, test driven code for our two Rails apps. As part of the OAMM technology team, you’ll gain experience in freezer cooking, “cooking math,” ecommerce, and more. You’ll need to be comfortable with SQL databases like MySQL or Postgres, and either understand (or be able to come up to speed quickly on) Solr. Experience designing, building, and supporting HTTP APIs with authentication is important, because we leverage a number of third party APIs for crucial aspects of our systems. It is also important that this person understands how to design and code for scalability as we have a very large audience and some unique traffic patterns.
Your primary role will be Rails development, but we’d love for you to have some frontend stack chops as well. Coffeescript, Sass, and HTML should be familiar to you. And, if you’re willing to learn, we can provide opportunities for training.
You’ll report directly to our Technical Director, but don’t be surprised if you interact with all our lovely full-time staffers in a typical day. Sparkbox will continue to be our agency for design and development consulting, and you will work closely with OAMM’s Technical Director and the Sparkbox team.
Because we are a distributed team, we’d love for you to have experience working remotely. Distributed teams have their advantages and disadvantages, and we’d love for you to already know what those are. And being remote requires a certain level of communication—so we’re in need of someone who can communicate very well.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!

About us: Our mission is to use software and analytics to bring transparency to the opaque world of jewelry, a $80b and growing market. We acquired the domain name (Ice.com) a year ago (it is unrelated to the previous company). What makes us unique vs. other jewelry e-commerce companies is that we're a marketplace - which means our capital goes towards building IP and acquiring/retaining users. A few reasons why you should be interested in this opportunity: The jewelry industry is a fragmented, $80B market (in the US alone), growing at 5%+ annually, that software has yet to disrupt. You will be joining an awesome team led by Brandon Proctor (founding CMO of one of the largest e-commerce retailers, Build.com) and Justin Yoshimura (3x exits). We are extremely data driven and technology/software is in our DNA. You won't be a second class citizen here, guaranteed. We don't have time for assholes or politics. Competitive compensation package including stock options in a high growth VC backed start-up (Crosslink, Maveron, Khosla, Quest, Polaris). Small (17 person) and agile team.
What you'll be doing: Owning front-end product design and development. Writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code in HTML, CSS, Javascript. A/B testing design changes to make sure the changes are not just beautiful, but also functional. Learning and owning much of the a/b testing and targeting environment using Adobe target (best in class enterprise solution).
Skills and Requirements: 2+ years of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX experience. Familiarity with Django preferred but not necessary. Passionate about design. Agile and experiment-driven. Experience in design best practices but understanding that best practices don't always convert.

Cloudreach | Cloud Systems Engineer
Cloudreach
devops3>cloud3>groovy3>sql3> | devops3>cloud3>groovy3>sql3> | | 2yr
Cloudreach works with challenging technical environments. We love the cloud, our 3D-Printed quadcopters and other cutting-edge technologies - there’s a genuine concern that some people in the office haven’t heard of pens or paper.
At Cloudreach, we believe that the growth of a great business can only be fuelled by great people. We are born in the Cloud and everyday we live, work and dream in the cloud. We know that the cloud is the present and future of the IT industry - not an addition or variation, but a whole new way of thinking that demands real transformation. If you share this vision, we want to speak to you.
We’re standing on the shoulders of giants at Cloudreach and have top-tier partner status for Amazon Web Services, Google and also gold partner status with Salesforce.com. The spread of our offices reflects this status: we started out in London but now operate in Paris, Munich, Amsterdam, New York, Vancouver and Edinburgh too. Join us on our journey to design and build the most forward - thinking cloud solutions as we continue to roll-out globally. Our Cloud Platforms team is the best at what they do. It’s not your average job, because Cloudreach is not your average company.
Not if. When will you join the best Cloud Platforms in the industry?
Where has Cloudreach come from?
We were an idea formed in a London pub. Now we’re a global business, with hubs across Europe and North America. That growth is fuelled by a special team, developing tech solutions, for interesting clients you will have heard of
We were voted #1 Small Business to Work For in 2013 and our management won Best Leadership
How will you spend your time at Cloudreach?
You will be working in the following areas (and more!):
- Green field development of Amazon Web Services infrastructure (EC2, RDS, EMR, etc), e.g. looking at an existing service or data centre and then architecting a more effective solution in AWS. You might work on a major eCommerce platform, a MySQL database migration, or building a scalable mobile backend
- DevOps: Systems engineering work with frameworks such as Chef or Puppet - as well as helping to break down barriers between siloed teams. We automate everything
- Technical deployment and consultancy related to Google Apps for Business - for example, designing a complex Single Sign-On solution
- Not doing any out of hours shift work - yay!
Where will you work?
Cloudreach believes in a nationwide staffing model - we are born and bred in the cloud so why not take advantage of it?
- Love to ski? Want to get out of the cold and live in the sun? With Cloudreach, you can live and work where you want (as long as it's near an airport!)
- You will spend 50-75% of your time traveling to client sites in the Northeast, and your weekends/the rest of your time wherever you're happiest.
What do we look for?
- You’ve earned at least a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar subject
- You’re super motivated and have at least two years of working experience. We can find a great role for you with 2 years or with 10 years experience
- Scripting skills - ideally Python or Ruby, but talk to us if you love to hack in any language. We look for people who automate everything where sensible. If you had 10 servers, you wouldn’t update each one manually right?
- You’ll probably prefer a command line to a GUI
- Solid knowledge of Linux (or perhaps Windows) Systems Administration/Engineering
- Ability to travel across the U.S. - this position will require up to 75% travel.
What are our cloudy perks?
- MacBook Pro, big screen monitor, personal Google Apps domain and groovy smartphone
- Unique ‘cloudy’ culture where we keep our feet on the ground and our heads in the Clouds
- 23 days holiday plus your birthday off. One extra day, up to 27, for every year of cloudy service.
- World-class training and career development opportunities through our Cloudy University
- Attractive and centrally-located office in all the cities Cloudreach has a presence
vGood food and team ‘cloudy’ lunches, taking over a local restaurant every Friday
- Annual spot bonus of 10% base salary based on performance
- Working with a collaborative, social team and levelling-up your skills faster than you will anywhere else

What the job entails...

- We work hard, but it's balanced. Some of us have families. All of us have outside interests. We have diverse backgrounds. We would love for you to share your experience and culture with us, especially over a shared meal. We also happen to like bikes, rock climbing, and crossfit.
- What brings us together more than anything else, is devious, twisted thinking that makes code break.

At Envato, we value people who can roll up their sleeves and get things done while keeping the big goals in sight. As a Development Operations Engineer you’ll be working in a hands on capacity as part of the delivery team to make sure our software and infrastructure work as a single, seamless system.
Responsibilities
- In a partnership with the Web Infrastructure Architect and the development team, ensure the creation, configuration and maintenance of our infrastructure is automated and managed in a repeatable way with modern tooling such as Puppet or Chef

- Help build and manage the monitoring of our live systems focusing on stability, performance and business effectiveness
- Diagnose and fix performance issues on the marketplace no matter which part of the stack they appear in
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical members of the Marketplace team about proposed changes, their impact, how and when these changes may be delivered.
Desired Skills and Experience
You will have built and managed large scale, web facing systems serving millions of pageviews a month while still supporting many deploys a day. You understand that configuring and managing this scale of infrastructure requires a fully-automated infrastructure provisioning toolset. You need to have a broad knowledge of system administration, networking, databases, security, storage and performance and have a deep technical expertise in at least one of these disciplines.
You align with the goals of the DevOps movement in improving collaboration between the development and operations disciplines.

- Be on values with Envato’s passionate and supportive culture
Preferred Skills and Experience

- The ability to provide security and risk assessment and actions for a large e-Commerce site
- Has participated in a culture of shared responsibility between software developers and infrastructure specialists.
- Contribute to Open Source projects
- Past experience in other agile environments
- Network architecture
- Experience with AWS and Rackspace
What we offer
A great set of sites
We now have 8 marketplaces, with over 6.4 million items for sale, and 5 million users. Our biggest marketplace is ThemeForest, which is the clear leader in its space. Our users are engaged and passionate, with our forums generating 20,000 posts a month.
The challenge of scale and speed of change
As a Development Operations Engineer you’ll be working in an environment which is unique in its scale and pace of change in Australia. The core application (written in Ruby on Rails) peaks at around 20,000 requests a minute and handles around 25 million application requests a day. Our development team will typically deploy the entire application 10-15 times per day and we are deploying software-defined infrastructure updates many times a week. Our traffic is 24/7 so there no “quiet periods” for maintenance. All this combined means you are unlikely to find a more challenging role of this kind in Australia.
A great team and culture
- We’re careful about hiring, and have built a team of great devs
- Developers are responsible for features from inception through to them being in the hands of customers. The devs talk directly to customers about what they’re working on
- We do continuous delivery properly: any team member can deploy, and we regularly do several deploys a day

About us: Our mission is to use software and analytics to bring transparency to the opaque world of jewelry, a $80b and growing market. We acquired the domain name (Ice.com) a year ago (it is unrelated to the previous company). We also don't take any inventory because we're a marketplace - which means our capital goes towards building IP and acquiring/retaining users. A few reasons why you should be interested in this opportunity: - The jewelry industry is a fragmented, $80B market (in the US alone), growing at 5%+ annually, that software has yet to disrupt.
- You will be joining an awesome team led by Brandon Proctor (founding CMO of one of the largest e-commerce retailers, Build.com) and Justin Yoshimura (3x exits).
- We are extremely data driven and technology/software is in our DNA. You won't be a second class citizen here, guaranteed.
- We don't have time for assholes or politics.
- Competitive compensation package including stock options in a high growth VC backed start-up (Crosslink, Maveron, Khosla, Quest, Polaris).
- Small (17 person) and agile team.
What we'd like to see: - True, full-stack engineers with 2+ years of production experience in Python/Django or Node.js strongly preferred.
- Strong foundation in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, databases, software design and dev ops.
- Work experience with relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with agile development process in collaborative environment.
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics OR 4 years of relevant work experience.
- Good understanding of performance tradeoffs.
Bonus Points: - We are currently using Magento, an open source e-commerce platform built in Zend PHP - yuck), but we are building a new, badass e-commerce platform in Django, Angular.js, Node.js and integrating it with Netsuite's order management tools (no need to re-invent the entire wheel, after all). Related experience is a plus.
- if you have an awesome Github repo, open source contributions, or a cool project you can demo, please cut to the front of the line...
Responsibilities: As a member of our small but seriously talented engineering team, you will play a key role in both shaping and building our technologies. Your scope will be broad, ranging from user-facing features to server-side components and libraries. We are looking for a generalist who enjoys learning and working with different technologies. We're looking for a smart developer to remotely join our globally distributed team (or, if you'd like to come work out of our Barcelona office, that's cool too).
We have a long term relationship with a client, working on an exciting, complex service-based architecture of 10+ RoR micro services. We have one team of 10 dev/qa in place and are looking to add an additional 5 people in a second team to focus on internationalising the platform.
You'll be:
- Working with a large, fast moving team (working 11am - 8pm Central European time)
- Building ecommerce and direct sales functionality with Ruby on Rails services and exposing functionality via APIs
- Designing, specifying and implementing services to decouple functionality
- Solving hard business logic with elegant OO-design
- Ensuring the robustness, performance and failure characteristics of the system.
- Working on fast iteration cycles and tight deadlines using an agile/scrum methodology
- Writing well tested, defect free code using rspec/BDD
- Bonus: occasionally going full stack with Backbone/Marionette
You should have experience in:
- high performance production RoR applications
- profiling and tuning database access
- decoupling functionality with queues
- helping mentor junior members of the team
We use agile development practices: 2 week sprints, with daily stand ups, sprint planning and sprint reviews/retrospectives. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential. Of course, we use the best in class tools: Jira, Bitbucket, Slack, Skype etc.
This is a contract position with a long term outlook (6months+ full time project) for the the right candidate.
Why should you work with us?
Because it's fun! We work hard and we play hard. We know that successful projects are down to getting the right people and letting them work smartly, supported by a true agile process. But conferences, good communication and on-site meetups (well, the beach in Barcelona anyway) are also important parts of building the intra-team relationships. We are proud that our people love working with us (and can still have lives outside of work).
Because we work on cool projects. Sure, we can list the latest set of technologies that we use, but that is a given. What's more interesting is how they are used - the design, the architecture, the approach to solve business problems.

DESCRIPTION
We’re looking for a back-end application developer with at least 2 years of experience to round out our team. You're welcome to join us here at our Chicago office, but if you'd like to stay in that beautiful 'other' place you currently live, that's fine too. (US citizens only please.)
We Are Mammoth builds a variety of web applications including financial modeling tools, e-commerce portals and HIPAA compliant data backup services. You will be equal parts coder and communicator because we believe the best way to get work done is to connect the folks doing the work (you!) with the folks requesting it (our clients). You'll be spending the lion share of your time working with your developer peers on an ongoing project platform used for a number of our end clients, all part of a single project family. This requires a aptitude for working with legacy code, improving it and disseminating to other projects and peers.
We attend and speak at web design and development conferences around the country. We’re avid developers, designers, writers, and thinkers. One of our partners just authored a book on web developer life – The Developer’s Code. If you read it, you’ll get a sense of the values and approach here at We Are Mammoth.
Here are some things you might be doing in a given week:
- Investigate and resolve 15-20 reported bugs.
- Make updates to a SQL server database schema using our in-house data modeling tool, X2O.
- Provide well-written messages to a client in Basecamp about the current status and upcoming roadmap for a particular site implementation.
- Routinely provide detailed insight to a client for into how you've implemented a piece of logic that they've specified, to resolve a bug.
- Manage merging bug fix commits from SVN back to a central codebase. This sometimes includes manual merging when codebases begin to diverge.
- Work with a project manager to estimate additional work for an existing application.
- Work with a front-end developer to integrate server-side models into an HTML/JS front-end using either traditional MVC or client-side frameworks like jQuery.
- Gain more business domain knowledge of how benefits and retirement plans work, as you continue to implement more code for a client. You'll use this knowledge to become even more productive and valuable for future projects.
- Perform scheduled code, database schema and data migrations to various environments.
- Respond to issues discovered in a dynamic and static scan of existing code bases.
REQUIREMENTS
All of our developers here have experience in the following, in order of how often you’ll be using these languages/patterns:
- .NET / C# using the MVC framework
- Service-repository pattern and dependency injection
- SQL (we mainly use Dapper as our micro-ORM with some legacy projects on LINQ to SQL)
- Relational DB development
- Unit and regression testing
- SSIS
j* Query
- HTML/CSS
BENEFITS
Working at We Are Mammoth:
We're a hard working team of about 15. We opt for smarter, constantly-tuned between the lines work weeks to maintain a meaningful work/life balance.
- Everybody starts with 15 days of paid vacation. Each year, you'll get 5 more until you've got 25.
- We've got a beautiful office in Chicago's Fulton Market. It's like a home, a library, and a gallery mashed into one. If you're working remote, well, you'll be joining us quarterly here at hq, too.
- We've got an employer-matched retirement plan with company matching up to 3%.
- We'll pay for a parking space or public transportation.
- We do annual compensation reviews, quarterly how-things-are-going reviews, and have an employee equity-sharing plan.

Uphex | Front End Designer Developer
Uphex
javascript3>cloud3>css3>html3> | javascript3>cloud3>css3>html3> | | 2yr
UpHex is a tiny, nascent SaaS company that helps marketing agencies monitor analytics for their clients.
We're completely bootstrapped with a current runway of about 18 months, though we plan to seek seed funding at some point. In August 2014 we also won a $50,000 grant from the state of Virginia's Commonwealth Research and Commercialization Fund. We don't yet charge our users anything during this trial phase, but we'd like to do so (very) soon.
We're currently in the middle of a pilot with a few hundred brave customers. In total, they're sending us about 1,250,000 data points per day across a number of connected Twitter, Shopify, Facebook, and Google Analytics accounts. At the moment, we can effectively use only a fraction of that data. We need to make the interface we expose to users more usable before we can do some of the things we want to do.
That's where you come in.
About the role
We're looking for a front-end designer to help us build this platform. We're looking for someone who has a passion for software development, loves making things work well, and who thrives in a high-impact, low-ceremony startup environment.
In general, you would be responsible for:
designing and building component-based, reusable, modular designs for web, mobile, and e-mail user-agents constructing new components and helping us solve difficult design problems presenting information in a clear, effective, and straightforward way writing SCSS, Haml, and very occasionally JavaScript The initial project is to redesign our prototype administrative backend and to develop a design vocabulary of components we can use in other contexts on our site. From there, we'd like to work further with you on a number of other projects -- designing new interfaces for features we want to build, implementing ways of showing large amounts of relevant information, and others in the pipeline.
This is a contract position that pays US$450 per day. Generally we'd expect you to work 2-3 weekdays per week and to have some time overlap with US ET (UTC-4/-5), but we otherwise care much more about the results you deliver than the hours you spend. We prefer that people work when they want to, not when a clock tells them to, so you don't need to keep track of your time other than to tell us how many days you worked in a particular week.
Our technology
We generally place a high premium on architectural and code simplicity, and try to minimize complexity at all levels.
Our styles are a small custom theme built on top of Bootstrap 3 and Flatty, written in SCSS; the pages are in Haml and pipelines to HTML.
We run a Padrino stack on Cloud66 and DigitalOcean. ActiveRecord 4 is used for the small number of models that interact with the database directly. The datastore is Postgresql 9.3; we also use Redis to store jobs for Resque.
The architecture is likewise fairly simple: there's one load balancer, two web servers, one process server, and one Postgresql database. Our codebase is small right now, clocking in at around 1,500 lines including all models, controllers, and services.
You can run all the tests (RSpec and Rubocop) with a single command, and you can deploy to production or any other environment with a single command.
About you
You:
- are comfortable working with a remote team
- are comfortable using tools like Google Hangout and Flowdock to collaborate with teammates
- enjoy one of XKCD, SMBC, Model View Culture, or PBF
- are a fan of DRY, STTCPW, and YAGNI
Your technical experience includes most or all of the following:
- proficiency with SCSS, Haml, CSS3, and JavaScript
- fluency and experience with writing modular, composable, reusable (S)CSS
- ability to leverage your design experience in the context of an information-heavy application
- constructing interactive components, controls, or interface elements
- you understand and can use git to make commits on topic branches
Bonus points if:
- you can point to public commits you've made on a project you like
- you have written an interesting technical blog post, essay, rant, etc. that you can link to
- you have worked at a startup before
How to apply
If you think you'd be a good fit, we'd love to hear from you! (Please, no recruiters or agencies -- individuals only.) To apply, send an e-mail to tech-team+github@uphex.com that includes the following info:
- the URLs for two companies or projects that you've previously worked on, along with a short description of what you did there and when
- the URL of the most interesting thing you've read, listened to, or watched lately, along with a short description of why it's interesting to you
- the URL of a commit that you made to a public project, or a commit that you think is particularly interesting
Please also include at least two of:
- any public web presence (blog, portfolio site, Dribbble profile, et cetera)
- your GitHub or Bitbucket account URL
- your StackOverflow user profile URL
- your LinkedIn profile URL
- your Twitter handle
Please don't send a resume. We're not hiring a PDF -- we're hiring you!
We promise to be in touch within one business day. If you have any questions, we invite you to talk directly to John Feminella, our CTO. His e-mail is @uphex.com (but use tech-team+github@uphex.com once you're ready to apply).
We look forward to hearing from you!

7 Reasons You’ll Love Working Here:
1.) Stability
We've been in business since 2003 and have gone through many of the "rough patches" already. We are now a very strong and healthy company and aren't going anywhere for a very long time. In 2011 we were awarded a spot in the Inc 500/5000 coming in at #595.
2.) Opportunity
Unlike most companies that want to keep your pay as low as they can, we do the opposite! Our goal is to pay you as much as we possibly can because when we do, we know that means you are creating tremendous value for our customers and our business.
We only want A level superstars so we offer above average compensation as well as performance-based bonuses.
3.) Flexibility
Location doesn't matter to us. I don't care if you're working on the beach, your kitchen, or in your backyard. I don't care if you work from 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. Or from noon – 8 p.m… As long as you stay productive and produce results – that's all that matters. Note that some positions do require working in our Austin, TX office.
4.) Freedom
We believe that all people deserve to be free... free to make their own choices... free to create their own success... and we strive to create a work environment that not only allows, but empowers you to be creative and take risks (well thought out of course).
No company politics or popularity contests. We are a team of "producers"... people who are results oriented and believe that each person should be responsible for themselves.
5.) Great People
You'd be joining an existing team of superstars, many of which have been with the company for years. There is virtually no “drama” within the team that most companies have. Everybody is fun, passionate, great at what they do, and willing to help out. If you're that kind of person – you'll fit in perfect.
6.) Training and Education
We invest heavily in our knowledge and skills. As part of our team you'll have access to an enormous library of "how to" and "self improvement" books and courses and we also reimburse our team when they invest in continued education.
7.) Growth
We are growing at warp speed and have continued to increase profits year after year. This growth also means growth for you... in knowledge, skills, relationships and income.

7 Reasons You’ll Love Working Here
1.) Stability
We've been in business since 2003 and have gone through many of the "rough patches" already. We are now a very strong and healthy company and aren't going anywhere for a very long time. In 2011 we were awarded a spot in the Inc 500/5000 coming in at #595.
2.) Opportunity
Unlike most companies that want to keep your pay as low as they can, we do the opposite! Our goal is to pay you as much as we possibly can because when we do, we know that means you are creating tremendous value for our customers and our business.
We only want A level superstars so we offer above average compensation as well as performance-based bonuses. Very few companies can come close to this compensation. The better you perform – the more you make!
Instead you get to be YOU and you have the freedom to create your own success in your own unique way.
Company Description
The Healthy Back Institute is a fast growing natural health publishing and consumer products company with the focus on helping people to live without pain.
We are not a “start up”. We’ve been in business for over 10 years and have nearly a million customers in over 120 countries around the world. We are stable, profitable and there are no outside investors.
We offer flexible work hours, the option of working remotely (some roles, though we prefer people working together in the office) as well as lots of unusual perks. Our company headquarters is currently located in Austin, TX (Dripping Springs).

php3>api3>admin3>excel3> | php3>api3>admin3>excel3> | Earth | 2yr
~20 hours/week, $30/hour, remote, flexible schedule but weekends required
We want to improve the quality of customer service we provide by making an addition to our customer support team.
Your main responsibility will be to reply to customers asking for help with WP All Import and our add-ons.
Currently, we often end up with a backlog on Mondays, so we need you available for about 10 hours on most weekends.
Other than that, hours are flexible. Most weeks, we’ll need you for about 20 hours total. 10 hours on the weekend and 10 whenever you want.
You’ll be working with two other reps who also have flexible schedules. Most of the time they can get all the tickets done themselves, so however much you want to work is fine. If one week you want to work 30 hours, and one week you only want to work 10 hours, that works for us.
You need to love to help others and be able to keep it friendly even when dealing with difficult customers. You need to enjoy the whole process of turning anxious, confused, or angry customers into happy ones.
You must be an excellent writer. You need to be able to write with a friendly, upbeat tone, while keeping your replies concise and easy to understand.
Your Responsibilities Will Include: •Responding to customer support inquires •Aggregating customer feedback and assisting us with development/product roadmap decisions •Writing concise bug reports based on support tickets that are a result of bugs in WP All Import •Updating our documentation to reflect changes we make to WP All Import
Requirements: The only thing we care about is an ability to provide high quality customer support to our clients. Otherwise, there are no special requirements, but here are some things that are good to have: •Experience providing customer service before – either for another company, or your own products or your own clients. Being a freelance WordPress developer counts. You don’t specifically need to have a job in support. •Fast and hands on learner. Able to quickly become familiar with WP All Import. •PHP development knowledge. Ability to write PHP functions, work with arrays, and make use of our API:
•Extensive experience with WordPress including troubleshooting, debugging, and plugin development. Expert-level WordPress knowledge.
•Familiarity with XML and CSV file formats, phpMyAdmin, debugging and troubleshooting WordPress themes and plugins via FTP, and cPanel and other web hosting control panels •Experience with WooCommerce •Attends WordCamps, meetups, or other industry conferences •Experience working remotely as part of a distributed team •Perfect English
Writing Samples:
1. A customer is importing t-shirts from two XML files. One has sizing information stored as S, M, L, XL, the other has sizing information stored as Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large. The customer wants to “translate” S, M, L, and XL to Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large. Write back explaining to the customer how to do this.
2. A customer has e-mailed the support desk stating he has a CSV file with two columns – sale_price and regular_price. The customer wants to only import products where the sale price is discounted more than 30% from the regular price. Write back explaining how to do this.
Hints:
3. A customer has lots of data on his products in an Excel spreadsheet, and wants to know if WP All Import can import the data. The answer is yes. Write back to the customer, but don’t just say “yes” – convince the customer to buy our product.
4. A customer wants a refund, but is outside of our 30 day money back guarantee.
5. (not a writing sample) Prove you can use WP All Import. Create a debug installation of WP All Import at http://www.wpallimport.com/debug and then import the following file as WooCommerce variable products. Include the login details for the /debug site in your e-mail.
(The images may not work. Don’t worry about that.)
What are your chances of getting this job?
If you do a good job with the writing samples, your chances are extremely high. The last time we posted a job like this most of the replies did not use proper spelling and grammar or were otherwise poorly written. Also, most people got question 2 wrong. I think maybe 3 or 4 applicants actually got question 2 correct.
So your chances are very high as long as you keep your replies short, simple, and friendly, and you get the sample questions right.
To apply: Please e-mail louis@soflyy.com with the writing samples requested above. Location: |

SendOwl (ecommerce software for selling digital products) is looking to take on a technically-minded customer support person. You'll be as confident with HTML and CSS as you are with crafting friendly emails and working out what a customer actually wants to know.
The elevator pitch
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to do what they love (customer support with a bit of tech thrown in) without being distracted by commuting, long hours and office politics.
We mainly work remotely, we get the job done but largely work when we want to, and we won't get snarky if your kid is sick or you need a day off to argue with estate agents or builders (it happens to the best of us).
A bit about how we operate
Being bootstrapped has kept us very efficient. Over the last four years, we've focused on a) providing a great product b) listening very closely to our customer needs and providing excellent customer support.
Having purposely chosen to not go down the VC route we don't have (or would want) several million pounds to throw at vanity offices, untested ideas and unnecessary positions. Everything we do is tracked back to KPIs that matter to us and our customers.
For some people this is a really scary way to run a company as there's nowhere to hide. For us, we love the freedom, agility and creativity that this brings.
A bit about the job
- We've now got to the point where we're looking to take on a customer support person so we can speed up the rate at which we innovate.
- Key responsibilities of this role are:
- Answering pre-sale questions from potential customers
- Replying to support emails from existing customers
- Answering questions via social media
- Escalating unsolvable problems to 3rd line support
- Jumping on the occasional phone call with high profile clients
- Spotting common areas of confusion for our customers and identifying how we can introduce changes to reduce these
- Tracking and prioritising customer requests for new features
- Identifying areas of functionality that are not fully documented and creating help articles to cover these. Bonus points for any video skills.
As this role is the first dedicated support person we've hired you'll also be responsible for helping to shape how this part of the company is run.
We'd like you to keep up with the latest customer support blogs (Help Scout, GrooveHQ, and of course Support Ops, + any of your favourites) and feedback ideas from these to help improve how we do customer support.
A bit about you
One of our sellers said this about us:
"You know who gives amazing customer service? @SendOwlHQ I wish they could run my entire life, their customer service is so good." Magda Pecsenye
Basically, we need you to inspire these kind of comments!
It would also help if:
- You can get on with work yourself (we don't do typical management – you'll need to be comfortable with making decisions and taking responsibility for what you do)
- You have lots of ideas about how to do customer support (or anything to do with running a business) even better
- You're comfortable with your HTML and CSS skills (we'll give you a little test; nothing too painful)
- You like being part of a small, independent and fast-moving team
Don't worry if you're not coming from a customer support background. Ability and enthusiasm are more important.
