# **Responsibilities**\nWe are looking for a Senior SRE to join our team and help develop our product, Mojo Stratus. Mojo Stratus is a Kubernetes / Docker PaaS for e-commerce (Magento Commerce) hosting. You will work on increasing uptime, building new features, and improving our deployment processes. You'll be working daily with Kubernetes and Docker in an AWS environment. You will also be using SaltStack, Jenkins, Terraform, and Python.\n# **About Us**\n\nMageMojo Magento hosting, a group of 40 talented devops peeps whom all work remotely. We believe passionate, talented people all working together smoothly yields awesome work that lets us build a solid infra and processes to prevent fires instead of spending time always putting out fires. We get along and we constantly improve only because we don't bullsh!t each other or our clients, we don't hide or say what we think others want to hear. We do this with respect and we value truth, transparency, and honesty above all else. Of course, there are times when we are in headphones-on, hyper-concentration mode. But we also draw a lot of support from each other and try to focus on the "human side" of support. We are curious students of the internet age who are interested in continuing to enhance our own work, sharing what we've learned, and learning from those around us.\n\n# **About You**\n\nYou are a solid human being with a good sense of humor in search of a job with a crew that is big enough to host important, meaningful sites and small enough to have fun doing it. You know there's nothing you can't do and no problem you can't solve with the help of the Interwebz, and Google of course. You have strong opinions about the way things should be done but aren't necessarily a zealot for any one process, technology, or denomination. You're inclined to express yourself through animated gifs and obscure movie quotes from the youtubes. You work well at the 11th hour, but even better at the first and second so we can be out at end of shift. You have an ear to the ground for new tech, whether it comes from hacker news or a programming subreddit, and a desire to dive in and try things out. \n\n# Requirements\n**Minimum Qualifications**\n\n* 3+ years building and maintaining YOUR OWN Kubernetes cluster (not GKE / EKS / Kops / / Rancher).\n* 3+ years working with either SaltStack or Ansible.3+ years working with AWS.\n* 3+ years experience with CI/CD tooling with either Jenkins / Gitlab / Drone.io.\n* 3+ years of experience working in a 24x7x365 mission-critical environment.\n\n**Bonus Experience:**\n\n* HPA\n* Cilium\n* BPF\n* Drone.io\n* Helm Charts\n* Magento Hosting / Development\n* Previous employment at a hosting provider \n\n#Salary\n$120,000\n\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

Do you love computers? Do you prefer to spend three hours scripting some boring repetitive action than 30 minutes doing it manually? Would you like to work in your pajamas, from anywhere in Australia?\n\nSmith Software is a boutique engineering firm that provides remote talent to Silicon Valley companies. One of our clients has asked us to build a DevOps team to support them in their Australian operations, so we're looking for energetic people with the following skills: \n\n- Googling StackOverflow\n- Googling ServerFault\n- Reading man pages\n- Rapidly figuring out that the reason why something broke in prod is because some dude maintaining an obscure python dependency decided to change its API without telling anyone\n- Finding issues like that before they hit prod\n- Not having an aneurysm when discovering that systemd configuration is in /usr/lib/systemd instead of /etc/systemd\n- Writing a bash for loop without having to google the syntax (just kidding, even we can barely do this)\n- Being polite to clients\n- Knowing the differences between TCP, UDP, IP, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, POP, PvP, PCP, Elemeno P, etc.\n- Being courageous enough to occasionally edit things in prod when necessary, but competent enough to not catastrophically break everything\n- Using vi or one of its descendants\n\nNo education required, you don't even need to know how to spell! Okay, you need to know how to spell. But enthusiasm and linux wizardry will be accepted in lieu of formal education or work experience. Emacs fanboys will be accepted but forced to assimilate - if you think we're going to be installing emacs on our IoT nodes, you need to seriously reduce your LSD intake. \n\nBasically, we're looking for anyone who types 'xargs' in their day-to-day life. If that sounds like you, hit us up! \n\nSalary depends on what we can convince the client to pay for you, but if you're good, it should be a lot. We mentioned that they're in Silicon Valley, right?

**We Are:**\n\nMageMojo Magento hosting, a group of 35 talented devops guys who all work remotely. We do this with respect and we value truth, transparency and honesty above all else. Of course there are times when we are in headphones-on, hyper-concentration mode. But we also draw a lot of support from each other and try to focus on the "human side" of support. We are curious students of the internet age who are interested in continuing to enhance our own work, sharing what we've learned, and learning from those around us. \n\n**You Are:**\n\nA solid human being with a good sense of humor in search of a job with a crew that is big enough to host important, meaningful sites and small enough to have fun doing it. Attention to detail and a seamless customer experience are important to you. You feel at home in the shell and have some scripting knowledge. \n\n**How To Apply:**\n\nSubmit your resume and a few words about yourself, your achievements, what you love most in life, and what you want out of your career. We're not interested in standard issue cover letter babble and HR bubble wrap. Talk to us like a human being who values directness and using your own words. If you need to use a four-letter word to effectively express a previous engagement or an appropriately inappropriate metaphor to describe your ideal work environment, we'll take that over what you would think we typically "need to hear" in a job application. This is a full-time position with benefits and we're open to starting you with a freelance gig if wading into the water is preferred on both sides. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

You have experience working with remote teams or can adjust your work and time-management style to be remote-friendly.\n* You are helpful and empathetic and care about building on our company culture that embraces these qualities.\n\n#Location\nAmericas

Sr. Platform Engineer - DevOps\n\n\nAre you a Sr. DevOps Engineer obsessed with building high traffic Linux-based cloud infrastructure, mobile technologies and committed to automation? Still looking for a REAL DevOps Role? Then here is your chance to shape the direction of a company at the forefront of the mobile revolution!\n\n\nMoovweb’s cloud-based platform delivers experiences optimized for any device. As the fastest-growing mobile solution, Moovweb allows companies to launch new experiences fast, iterate often, and deliver better mobile experiences. Headquartered in San Francisco, Moovweb powers experiences for market leaders including Nordstrom, Macy's, AIG, Kaiser, Fairmont, and Campbell's. Currently Moovweb powers over 200 mobile experiences, delivering to 60 million mobile users every month.\n\n\nWe’re looking for talented individuals ready to do the best work of their lives and solve hard problems at scale (hundreds of servers) in high-traffic PaaS/SaaS infrastructure. Working on our DevOps Team you will be bridging Dev and Ops to collaborate at the core of what makes Moovweb successful - the cloud platform that serves up over 6 billion mobile requests every month.\n\n\nWe work on a platform that was built for the cloud, from the cloud, and by people committed to automation like you. Along your journey spanning through Dev and Ops, you’ve spent at least 2-5 years mastering Unix Systems Administration (AWS/EC2) in a production environment with lots of traffic (hundreds of millions of page views). You have incredibly strong automation (Puppet) and scripting skills (Python/Perl). Programming (Ruby, C) is a walk in the park. You likely have experience with TCP/IP/HTTP protocols as well as backend technologies and common DevOps tools (Apache, MySQL, Nginx, Varnish, HAproxy, Nagios). But don’t get too hung up on the tech stack - we're not. Having experience with some of those technologies is great, but we are primarily interested in your intelligence and hire SMART people.\n\n\nIn addition to technical excellence, we value engineers that embody these qualities:\n\n\nPassion. You feel ownership of everything you work on and do what it takes to get things right. You routinely go beyond what’s ‘normal’ for your role and push yourself to get better at what you do.\n\n\nFlexibility. You’re ready to learn and iterate rapidly in terms of technology, product and process.\n\n\nFearless. You view challenges as opportunities, and embrace them. You learn from failures and move on.\n\n\nBiased to Action. You jump into ambiguous issues and help define the path forward.\n\n\n\nBeing at the forefront of the mobile revolution isn’t enough? Here at Moovweb we offer a fun office environment in one of the best locations in Downtown San Francisco with easy Bart/Caltrain access. Other benefits include 401(k) plan, full medical/dental/vision package, and an unlimited vacation policy.\n\nIf you are ready to do the best work of your life and shape the mobile revolution, Apply Now!\n\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.\n\nExtra tags: Puppet, Linux, AWS, Perl

Ideal Candidate\nWe're interested in someone comfortable with a generalist and devops role. You should be knowledgeable of standard system administration tasks and have a firm understanding of the role of load balancers and cluster architecture. It's 100x harder to write code if you don't know how the underlying operating system works.\nWe're looking for someone with a legitimate passion for technology, big data, and analyzing vast amounts of content.\nWe are also looking for people outside of the U.S. and Canada to maximize our time zone distribution. Ideally there should be least a 4 hour overlap with the Pacific Standard Time Zone (PST / UTC-8). We're based out of San Francisco but are migrating to the international level. If you don't have a natural time overlap with UTC-8 you should be willing to work evenings to be able to communicate easily with the rest of the team.\nCulturally, we’re a remote company and want to embrace it as a way to reward our employees. We are fine with you working in remote locations as long as you’re generally available for communication and are productive.\nWe want someone to come in full time in a contractor role. We will need about 40 hours from you per week. \nJob Responsibilities:\nUnderstanding our crawler infrastructure and ensuring top quality metadata for our customers. There's a significant batch job component to analyze the output from the crawl to ensure top quality data.\nMaking sure our infrastructure is fast, reliable, fault tolerant, etc. At times this may involve diving into the source of tools like ActiveMQ, Cassandra and understand how the internals work. We contribute a LOT to Open Source development if our changes need to be given back to the community.\nBuilding out new products and technology that will directly interface with customers. This includes cool features like full text search, analytics, etc. It's extremely rewarding to build something from ground up and push it to customers directly. \nArchitecture:\nOur infrastructure consists of Java on Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) with the stack running on ActiveMQ, Cassandra, Zookeeper, and Jetty. We use Ansible to manage our boxes. We have a full-text search engine based on Elasticsearch, and store our firehose API data within Cassandra.\nWe have a totally new stack and infrastructure at this point. We recently did a full-stack rewrite and moved all the old code to our new infrastructure. This means we have very little legacy cruft to deal with.\nHere's all the cool stuff you get to play with:\nLarge Linux / Ubuntu cluster running with the OS versioned using both Ansible and our own debian packages for software distribution.\nMassive amount of data indexed from the web and social media. We index from 5-20TB of data per month and want to expand to 100TB of data per month.\nLarge Cassandra install on SSD. \nSOLR / Elasticsearch migration / install. We’re experimenting with bringing this up now so it would be valuable to get your feedback.\nTechnical Skills:\nHere's where you shine! we're looking for someone with a number of the following requirements:\nLinux. Linux. Linux. Did I say Linux? We like Linux.\nExperience in modern Java development and associated tools.\nMaven, IntelliJ IDEA, Guice (dependency injection)\nA passion for testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.\nCassandra. Stores content indexed by our crawler.\nActiveMQ. Powers our queue server for scheduling crawl work.\nA general understanding and passion for distributed systems.\nAnsible or equivalent experience with configuration management.\nStandard web API use and design. (HTTP, JSON, XML, HTML, etc).\nCultural Fit:\nWe’re a lean startup and very driven by our interaction with customers, as well as their happiness and satisfaction. Our philosophy is that you shouldn’t be afraid to throw away a week's worth of work if our customers aren’t interested in moving in that direction.\nWe hold the position that our customers are 1000x smarter than we are and we try to listen to them intently, and consistently.\nProficiency in English is a requirement. Since you will have colleagues in various countries with various primary language skills we all need to use English as our common company language. You must also be able to work with email, draft proposals, etc. Internally we work as a large distributed Open Source project and use tools like traditional email, Slack, Google Hangouts, and Skype.\nFamiliarity working with a remote team and ability (and desire) to work for a virtual company. \nShould have a home workstation, fast Internet access, etc.\nMust be able to manage your own time and your own projects. \nSelf-motivated employees will fit in well with the rest of the team.\nIt goes without saying but being friendly and a team player is very important.\n\n\nExtra tags: Linux. Linux. Linux. Did I say Linux? We like Linux. Experience in modern Java development and associated tools. Maven, IntelliJ IDEA, Guice (dependency injection) A passion for testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery. Cassandra. Stores content indexed by our crawler. ActiveMQ. \nThis role is solely open to those willing to work Saturdays and Sundays instead of the usual Mondays to Fridays.   \n\nAs an EMEA based Linux Cloud Support Engineer you will be responsible for assessing the nature of product or service issues and resolving support problems for customers and partners through support tickets, live chat, and occasional voice calls. Don’t let the word “Support” fool you - this is not a typical call center role. Our customers are technically sophisticated and once a question gets to us search engines have failed to provide an answer. On any given day, you’ll be applying your knowledge of Linux with technologies like MySQL, DNS, CDNs, SSL, Redis, various programming languages, replication, integration with other systems and much more. Expect to learn something new every day.\n\n\nSuccessful employees will collaborate with other team members, meet deadlines and test new ideas, tools, and tactics. We are looking for motivators and go-getters who will improve our processes, our products and ourselves. As one of our Cloud Support Engineers, you are our front line; when our customers think of how great Platform.sh is, they think of you.\n\nIn a given day you might:\n\n\n* Troubleshoot issues pertaining to the underlying infrastructure running customer applications.\n\n* Diagnose, debug and document issues in both applications and systems.\n\n* Deploy and configure cloud infrastructure resources.\n\n* Troubleshoot, reproduce and report bugs.\n\n* Become a product expert and work toward improving our customer facing documentation.\n\n* Participate in limited on-call shifts, providing timely responses to high priority tickets and incidents.\n\n* Work under limited supervision with considerable latitude for personal initiative.\n\n* Respond to customer inquiries through our ticketing solution, ZenDesk.\n\n* Participate in training teammates.\n\n\n\n\nQualifications\n\nMinimum Qualifications\n\n\n* This role is permanent and full time, 5 days a week including Saturdays and Sundays as 2 other weekly days off will be allocated\n\n* 3+ years combined of:\n\n\n\n* Linux system administration\n\n* Web development using PHP, Python, Ruby or Go. (However, this is not primarily a programming job)\n\n* Experience using git\n\n* Managing DNS\n\n* Functional knowledge of TLS and encryption\n\n* Demonstrating exceptional communication skills to provide clear and empathetic customer support\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAdditional Nice-to-Haves\n\n\n* Knowledge of nginx, Galera, GlusterFS, and Puppet\n\n* Experience with Magento, Symfony, TYPO3 and/or Drupal\n\n* Understanding of CDNs or Varnish and web caching strategies\n\n* Familiarity with IaaS solutions, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Compute Engine\n\n* Conversant in containerization technologies and techniques\n\n\n\n\nSound Like a Good Fit? We’re not expecting you to be an expert at all of the above, but if your skillset includes some of it and you’re interested in diving into the rest, we’d love to talk to you!  \n\nThis is a remote job. Work from anywhere!\n\nWe are a worldwide distributed team and are looking for a candidate who can perform well working remotely. To be an effective performer as a CSE here at Platform.sh, you’ll need to be able to effectively collaborate across time zones while operating with a high level of independence and autonomy.

\nWe’re looking for a Linux Developer to work on creating technical articles.\n\nFirst – you naturally need to be a developer working or actively involved in the Linux ecosystem. The articles will be code-centric, so being in the trenches and able to code is instrumental.\n\nSecond – you need a solid command of the English language.\n\n\n\n\n\nBudget and Time Commitment\n\n========================\n\nHere are the typical budgets used by most authors:\n\nLevel 9\n\n\n* 1250+ words - 85$\n\n* 1500+ words - 90$\n\n* ...\n\n\n\n\nLevel 10\n\n\n* 1250+ words - 90$\n\n* 1500+ words - 95$\n\n* 1750+ words - 100$\n\n* ...\n\n\n\n\nNote that, from mid-June to October, due to COVID-19, we're working with an adjusted budget of -10% to -15% for all articles.\n\nOnce you get started, we have a lot more budget levels (the top level is 22), based on the quality of your writeups.\n\n...\n\nIn terms of time commitment, a good target is one article every 2-3 weeks - but that’s very flexible (as long as our communication is good).\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the article (+ some examples)\n\n=============================\n\nWe’ll usually pick articles out of the existing content calendar of the site (based on the areas you want to work in). You can also suggest your own topics as well (and get an additional compensation for that).\n\nHere are a few examples of topics:\n\n- Guide to Linux jq Command for JSON Processing\n\n- How Long a Linux Process Has Been Running\n\n- How to Use Command Line Arguments in a Bash Script\n\nAnd here's a few quick finished article examples:\n\nhttps://www.baeldung.com/linux/path-variable\n\nhttps://www.baeldung.com/linux/ps-command\n\nhttps://www.baeldung.com/linux/transfer-files-ssh\n\nYou can also find the contribution guidelines on our site: \n\nhttps://www.baeldung.com/contribution-guidelines

\nAbout balena\n\nBalena's mission is to unlock the potential of physical computing by removing friction for IoT fleet owners. We believe that edge computing is the next major computing paradigm, and every new computing paradigm needs a scalable development platform to match. We're building that platform with a complete, end-to-end solution that makes it easy for any developer to build applications for IoT and the Edge.\n\nOur software platform helps developers build, deploy and manage code on connected devices. We brought Docker to embedded GNU/Linux devices in 2013 and have been building our toolkit ever since. Our core product is the balenaCloud platform, but we also maintain a variety of successful open source projects including Etcher, openBalena, balenaOS and balenaEngine and made contributions to high-exposure projects such as Docker, Electron, and AppImage. We've also recently released our first hardware product, the balenaFin.\n\nOur technology is open, standards-based, and proven in production across a wide range of scenarios from robotics, drones, smart buildings, 3D printing, agriculture, medicine, and more. Our investors include OpenView, Threshold Ventures, Aspect Ventures, GE, and Ericsson.\n\nBalena is a highly distributed, remote-friendly company We rely on clear communication and the rule of "assume positive intent" to help us work together across time zones, cultures and first languages. As an organization, we have little hierarchy, and organize as needed to build complex features and solve big problems. We are looking for people who want to bring us even more diversity, and strongly encourage applications from people underrepresented in tech.\n\n\n\nOn being an Embedded Linux Engineer at balena\n\nAs an Embedded Linux Engineer at balena, you will be a core member of our on-device software and operating system team. You’re primary responsibility will be helping to build and maintain balenaOS, our open-source Linux distribution designed to run containers on resource-constrained IoT devices. Our operating system is built using Yocto Linux and is comprised of a common meta-layer plus device-specific layers for the 50+ device types that we currently support, such as the Raspberry Pi.\n\nYou’ll work on building new features for balenaOS, such as giving customers the ability to add functionality at the host OS level and remotely deploy updates to their host OS, just like they currently do at the application level. You’ll build scalable tools and processes to help us support 1,000+ different device types on balenaOS. You’ll also help maintain and manage contributions to our open source repositories and community-contributed device support.\n\nOur users and customers rely on balenaOS for everything from home projects to production use cases; our Embedded Linux Engineers are focused on providing a solid and reliable operating system with an excellent developer experience.\n\n\n\nResponsibilities\n\n\n* Help architect, build, and maintain balenaOS, the first open source embedded operating system tailor-made for running Linux containers at the edge\n\n* Add balenaOS support for new boards and maintain support for our 50+ existing supported boards (e.g. Raspberry Pi, Intel NUC, NVIDIA Jetson, etc)\n\n* Help build tools and processes to enable our team to scalably support 1,000+ device types\n\n* Contribute to upstream open source projects such as Yocto Linux Project and all of our open-source components that we maintain\n\n* Develop and maintain OS components that provide new features for the host OS and/or integrate with other components in balena ecosystem, such as the host OS update mechanism\n\n* Consider the impact and tradeoffs of changes to balenaOS across the entire balena fleet and ecosystem through in depth analysis and understanding of our products and services\n\n* Debug various issues in device BSPs (board support packages), in the OS itself, and in the interfaces with other balenaCloud components\n\n* Design and write tests for balenaOS releases\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRequirements\n\n\n\n* Abstract and genericize subtle variations across different device types\n\n* Have a product mindset: gather feedback, understand and articulate user needs, help develop the OS roadmap, and build solutions\n\n* Perseverance to understand the root cause when investigating elusive bugs\n\n* Strong problem-solving abilities. You can split a complex problem into incremental pieces\n\n* Continuous improvement mindset and desire to make yourself and others more effective\n\n* Comfortable working in an environment that practices radical candor and transparency\n\n* Excellent written communication skills, and fluency in English\n\n\n\n\nBonus points for the following\n\n\n* Experience with the Linux Kernel and the Yocto project\n\n* Having worked remotely before\n\n* Experience with low-level hardware programming of microprocessors and embedded systems, ideally on ARM\n\n* Experience leading projects or bringing people together to collaborate and build great products\n\n* Experience leading or contributing to OSS projects (please include a URL)\n\n* Experience with the balena ecosystem as a user\n\n* Experience with technologies like Docker, Rust\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout working at balena\n\nWe come from 15+ countries, and we embrace a remote culture with flexible hours. To us, this means being highly productive while still maintaining a healthy work-life balance. You need to be able to work remotely, and have a dependable internet access available so you can join video calls.\n\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity. We value knowledge and initiative more than educational and personal backgrounds, age, or location. We maintain a work environment in which team members are treated with respect at all times and in which thoughts and ideas can be shared openly.\n\nWe communicate proposals, discuss with others in the team and accept feedback if it makes the result better. We value the ability to learn, which is more important to us than knowledge of specific technologies. We know that learning fast means being outside our comfort zone, which is OK — we'd rather learn than let our assumptions get in our way.\n\n\n\n\nBenefits\n\n\n\n* Work with an extremely talented, diverse team\n\n* Equipment of your choice\n\n* Remote-friendly\n\n* Flexible working hours\n\n* Generous vacation policy\n\n* Annual company gathering in an international location\n\n* We send you hardware for side projects!\n\n\n

\nLinux Systems Administrator\n\nAre you interested in working with a team of hard-core engineers on a technology that could change the world? Tired of corporate awareness training, pointless meetings, bloviating managers, and political games? Looking for an environment that hires great engineers, gives them the tools to do great things, and expects them to do so?\n\nPyrofex is hiring. Come do your best work.\n\nAbout Us\n\nPyrofex Corporation is one of Utah Valley's newest cryptocurrency startups. Founded in the Spring of 2016 by ex-Googlers Mike Stay and Nash Foster, Pyrofex is working hard to create the next-generation of blockchain platforms and decentralized applications.\n\nAbout You\n\nAt Pyrofex, we hire for strength, and not for lack of weakness. We hire for capability and talent, not specific knowledge of a tool or language.  We believe real innovation requires constant learning and learning requires constant failure. Nobody learns to ride a bike until they skin their knee. One of our founders has a\n\nPh.D., but the other one dropped out of college. (Twice!) The path we've taken to get this far is unique and we suspect the same will be true of our best employees.\n\nAs a growing startup company, Pyrofex is searching for a systems administrator to help build our Linux infrastructure and network.  Our administrators are self-starters who can multitask in a busy environment, automate repetitive tasks, and attend to all the details of our increasingly complex infrastructure.  They work independently and efficiently, accomplishing projects in a timely manner.  Knowledge of infrastructure, multi distribution, SenOs, and Ubuntu will benefit the position.\n\nAbout the Job\n\nWe are currently hiring a Linux System Administrator to run the day to day operations of our busy development office.  We are looking for someone who is quick on their feet, can quickly efficiently solve problems, and keep things running optimally.  We are all working together to deliver new products in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space.\n\nSuccessful administration requires you to work well with others.  Good administrators demonstrate a fastidious attention to detail, knowledge of firewalls, continuous integration, scripts, networking, and the ability to produce working code.  Five years ago, we thought things like SRE and DevOps would make it clear what "deploy and manage" meant for the future, and now we know we were wrong. The future is changing too fast and our job is to keep up.  From time to time, we all have to get out of bed at 2AM to deal with something broken.\n\nIf this sounds good to you, then email us at [email protected] with the subject line, "PAGE ME YOUR 4AM CRYPTO PUMPS!!!." We would like to see a resume or your linkedin profile. We would enjoy a cover letter in which you tell us about your work ethic and your favorite project. If you can send us examples of your code, that would be most excellent.
