## OUTER'S MISSION\nOuter is a venture-backed startup based in Santa Monica, California on a mission to get people outside and inspire healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives by creating innovative outdoor furniture.\nIn addition to being a high growth ecommerce brand, Outer is working to revolutionize retail with its Neighborhood Showroom platform. Just like how Airbnb turns people’s homes into hotel rooms, Neighborhood Showroom (NBS) turns customer's backyard’s into retail showrooms. It also allows for the showroom host to make extra cash on a per visit basis.\nAs a Senior Software Engineer, you are expected to step into the software stack at any level and make an impact.\n## Types of problems you will tackle\n- How can we build a scalable matching system that connects Neighborhood Showroom guest with the best host based on availability, location, and other factors\n- How can we best facilitate guest/host communications\n- How do we build an operations infrastructure (inventory management, container management, warehouse management, etc) that will maintain 5 day delivery times anywhere in the US\n- How do we enable a point of sale experience for our customers and showroom hosts\n- How can we optimize the application process to onboard hosts\n- What tools can we build to help hosts onboard other hosts\n- How can we go from no showroom presence in a market to fully servicing that market in a matter of months\n## Minimum Qualifications\n- Love for the art / craft of writing code\n- Proven ability to ship high quality code in ambiguous situations\n- 5+ years experience in the fields of computer science or software engineering\n-World class written communication skills\n- Experience programming production applications in at least one of the following languages: Javascript, Golang\n- Experience in the following frameworks/runtimes: React, NodeJS\n- Experience using relational and non relational databases\n- Passion for building products driven by data\n- Ability to self motivate and problem solve\n- Must understand the value in writing tests\n- Ability to work in a remote team effectively\n## Preferred Qualifications\n- Experience with building or participating in marketplaces (Uber, Airbnb, financial markets)\n- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a technical field\n- Interest in building geographic marketplaces\n- Ability to creatively frame and solve problems\n- Experience building and maintaining devops infrastructure\n## About Outer\nOuter started by creating the perfect outdoor sofa: beautiful, durable, comfortable, and innovative. We also invented a new model for retail because we believe that the furniture buying experience can be much better than stale, traditional showrooms with four walls, fluorescent lighting, and pushy salespeople. Our Neighborhood Showroom platform that turns our customers' backyards into our physical showrooms where our customers can see, touch and feel our products in a real backyard alongside a real customer (think: Airbnb meets retail). Our Co-Founder & Chief Design Officer was the former Head Furniture Designer at Pottery Barn, and our founding team brings decades of experience from Casper, IDEO, Nike, Thrive Market, Match.com, and Riot Games. Outer provides a robust total rewards package, including competitive compensation packages, medical & wellness plans, 401(k) contributions, life insurance and more. \n\n#Salary or Compensation\n$120,000 — $180,000/year\n\n\n#Location\n🇺🇸 US-only

Our rituals allow us to have a team based all around the world and deliver excellently engineered solutions to complex user problems. As a Fullstack Software Developer you will work as part of a small product focused team on features and products that help us achieve our mission to enhance the way the world learns.\nTechnically we are a team that makes elegant solutions to large scale learning problems. We work in two week sprints, you architect, build and deploy the product that users enjoy using.\nAula is the Learning Experience Platform (LXP) for higher education.\nWe make it easy for educators to create community-first learning experiences that truly engage students. By combining easy-to-use technology with evidence-informed learning design, we save educators time while better supporting students' success.\nWe're a 35-person fully remote team spread across the globe from Nebraska to Pakistan.\nSolve the most important problems. We work closely with our data team and product support to ensure what we are building is loved.\nWe are a small engineering team who build a complex product with messaging, content editing and assessments used by huge academic institutions.\nOur virtues are what makes Aula as an organisation unique.\nOur commitment to diversity and inclusion should not be mistaken with building an organisation where 8 billion people would thrive. We lean into what makes Aula unique: we're building an organisation where high performing people are silly ambitious about improving education - at scale.\nWe judge our virtues by what we do, not what we say.\nOur virtues are\n🚀 Silly Ambitious\n🔍 Uncomfortably Focused\n🗣 Transparent by Default\n### What you need to do the Job\nThe most important thing about you is that you are curious and care deeply about building great products that affect people's lives. You are transparent, considerate and ready to work hard to further our mission.\nWe're looking for software engineers who care about shaping our users' experience, building and supporting features across the entire stack (more emphasis on the frontend).\n**Must-haves:**\n- 5+ years Engineering experience, ideally across the stack.\n- Experience building products end to end, ideally within a SaaS company.\n- Product mindset. Ability to break down work into deliverables that bring value to users.\n**Nice to have:**\n- Extensive knowledge of: Javascript, React, React Native, Node.js, Mongodb and AWS.\n- Proven track record of working and communicating effectively with Product Managers, Design, Data and Support.\n- Experience with automated testing: unit, integration and e2e.\n- Incident response experience.\n- Practical knowledge of cloud infrastructure management.\nYou approach everything you do proactively and are always looking for ways to improve and innovate. You understand that this is a small team in a startup that is scaling and are excited to contribute to the Aula story.\n### **A fair chance**\nEvery role in the Aula team is open to applications from all sections of society. We believe in the superpowers and potential of everyone; regardless of race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, different physical ability, family structure, socio-economics, age, nationality or citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other difference that makes you, well, _**you**_.\nMore than just encouraging your application, we're committed to conscious inclusion that (we hope) cultivates an ethos of belonging, connection and shared purpose. It's this philosophy that drives us towards our mission, and we open our doors to those who share these motivations. \n\n#Salary or Compensation\n$115,000 — $140,000/year\n\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

**We're building a new way to think and work with numbers.** \n\nCausal is a tool for performing calculations, visualising data, and communicating with numbers ([check it out](https://causal.app)). We take the good parts of spreadsheets and combine them with the good parts of programming, to make number-crunching fast, collaborative, and accessible to everyone. \n\nWe're a small team and well-funded by some great VCs ([Coatue](https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/coatue), [Passion Capital](https://www.passioncapital.com/)) and angel investors ([Naval Ravikant](https://twitter.com/naval), [Scott Belsky](https://twitter.com/scottbelsky), and many more) across the US and Europe.\n\n---\n\nWe're looking for a full-stack engineer to accelerate our product development. As one of our first hires, you'll play a significant role in setting the direction of Causal's product, company, and culture.\n\nOur product primarily consists of a web UI on the frontend and a computation engine on the backend. Causal needs a low floor and a high ceiling — it should be simple enough for anyone to get started with, but powerful enough for really complex use-cases.\n\nPerformance is paramount on both the frontend and backend.\n\nFamiliarity with out tech stack is requires (frontend: TypeScript/React, backend: TypeScript/Node/Go).\n\nPlease check out this [link](https://www.notion.so/causal/Full-stack-Engineer-421f869ab09e4307a9011550e3bacced) for more info. \n\n#Salary or Compensation\n$60,000 — $140,000/year\n\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

**Radical candor? More like radical gander, right?**\n\nOk, enough goose puns for the moment, but now that we’ve got your attention, allow us to tell you more about this company called GooseChase and why might you want to join us!\n\nYou love an app that makes you smile, right? Well our product is a lot of fun. And even though our origins are that of a humble scavenger hunt app, we’ve now evolved (hatched?) into a super-flexible platform used by millions to create all sorts of experiences! It’s all the best parts of a scavenger hunt, with a delightful twist to keep you coming back for more.\n\nWith all that fun and flexibility, we’ve been growing like crazy. For teachers in the classroom, we’re the new “TV cart”, aka the learning tool that students legitimately look forward to. For today’s workplaces, virtual or otherwise, we help the team connect with each other to the point where they want to come into (or logon) to work. And for local cities and towns, we bring families together in a way that truly builds a sense of community.\n\nBut we’re also unique in that we don’t have any investors and, as a result, are able to put our people before profit. Seriously. We have a profit sharing program specifically for this reason! It also means we grow at the pace we want to and put the time into making this the best possible place to work. When we do something, it’s because it’s the best thing for our team and our customers, no matter what. We’ve actually been fully remote from the very beginning, because we wanted our people to have the flexibility to live wherever and however they wanted!\n\n**So what exactly is this job?**\n\nIf you’re looking for impact & ownership, this is about as good as it gets. You’ll have the opportunity to take lead on our back-end tech stack going forward, charting our technical path, contributing to our product direction and helping shape the team as we grow!\n\nFrom a day to day perspective, you’ll be a core member of our cross-functional product development team, focused on both the game organizer and participant experiences. Within our product team, there are no silos or artificial barriers, meaning you’ll be working closely with other engineers and designers! Whatever will help give our customers the best experience possible!\n\nWe recognize building the best products requires using the best tools, so we empower our engineers through access to the best tools and hardware available to remove barriers and enable fast iterating, robust code deployments.\n\nIn terms of technologies, you’ll be working closely with our front-end engineers as well as developing our API and async task system which:\n\n* Is currently based on Django / TastyPie / Celery, with plans to migrate to a Node.js-based architecture (that’s where you come in!)\n* Stores data in Postgresql, with images & videos in S3\n* Utilizes redis and memcached for caching, session storage, and async task result storage\n* Runs on Linode, switching over shortly to our new kubernetes-based cluster\n* Powers our mobile applications and web-based game manager\n\nLooking at how we work, our methodologies are:\n* Continuous integration using CircleCI to empower developer autonomy and shorten development cycles\n* Agile, with two week sprint cycles\n* Daily async check-ins - stay connected to the team, but without zombie standups\n* Project management in Asana, with our “office” taking place on Slack & Zoom - we have a very strong gif game\n\n**How do you know if this might be for you?**\n\nAt GooseChase you’ll be working alongside a team of highly motivated, world-class engineers with tons of opportunities for learning, growth, and mentorship. Our product team works closely together, so we are extremely selective about who we hire to ensure the calibre of our engineering talent remains high. Be prepared to bring your ‘A’ game!\n\nWe understand that relevant experience comes in all shapes and sizes and the ability to do the job is all that matters. With that in mind, we aren’t going to put together a generic list of all the requirements that we’re looking for with this job, however, there are certain things we are looking for - specifically:\n\n* Have you been able to collaborate & communicate successfully with others in a cross-functional team?\n* Do you have very high standards for your work and desire to work with other talented people?\n* Have you succeeded at architecting and implementing APIs that have been used by lots of people?\n* Are you passionate about full stack development and the web ecosystem?\n* Do you bring a depth of expertise in security and performance best practices?\n* Are you experienced in developing production-grade web systems that are performant and fault-tolerant at scale?\n* Are you based in the GMT-4 to GMT-8 time zones (North America), so you can work closely with our distributed product team?\n* Can you get down with an uncomfortable amount of goose puns?\n\nOk the last one isn’t super work related, but we honestly do have a lot of goose puns. It’s one of our favourite parts of our culture!\n\nWe do things differently here. We’re all about fun, but also making an impact. We care deeply about working with amazing people, and have set up our company culture specifically for that - our compensation is competitive, our work environment is autonomous and collaborative, and our emphasis is on learning and growth. Put simply, it’s the type of company we actually want to work at ourselves!\n\nSo, this is us, standing in front of you, asking you to join us. \n\n#Location\nNorth America

We’re working to build the gold standard in marketing analytics products. We believe that analytics should be an interactive experience, rather than a simple visualization of charts and graphs. Analytics products with the same dry metrics are all too common. Our mission is to provide a marketing analytics platform that intuitively opens up new insights that you would only otherwise get from a team of data scientists.\n\nWe’re based out of Toronto, Canada, but you’re free to live anywhere in North America. There are 15 of us and we’re a pretty fun crew. We’re proud and excited about the work we’re doing. We can’t wait to meet you, share our passion, and bring you aboard!\n\n# The Job Overview:\nWe are looking for someone ASAP! You will play an instrumental role in reshaping the way in which businesses and marketers think about web analytics. We’ve thrown away traditional charts and graphs to start from scratch to build an immersive analytics platform.\n\nYou’ll take charge of growing out our engineering group from a modest team of three developers to a team of eight, and ensuring that those teams are able to do their best work under your leadership.\n\n# What You’ll Be Doing:\nYou’ll be leading the vision of the development and growing the team.\n\nYou will be personally responsible for leading a team of 3 incredible developers. We are expecting rapid growth over the next 6 to 12 months and need you to build out your driven and qualified development team to 8 members by early 2021.\n\nWe need a ‘Hands-on Developer’ who has no problem jumping in and learning the system. \n\n# Day to Day:\n\n**Setting up processes**\n* Driving Agile development methodology\n* Working within JIRA\n* Building integrations with multiple marketing platforms\n* Work closely with the Product Team for improvements\n* Development with Node and Redshift\n* Interviewing and hiring decisions on which highly-qualified engineers to bring on board\n\n**Responsibilities and Projects:\n**\n* Expand an engineering team focused on building the future of analytics.\n* Coach a team of engineers to remove roadblocks and implement features to the best of their abilities.\n* Implement processes to keep the engineering team performing at their peak.\n* Take the lead in new initiatives to increase security, monitoring, and testing.\n* Create and enforce timelines for development projects.\n* Construct an execution plan to reach goals set out in our technical vision.\n* Keep stakeholders informed on the progress of projects and the status of engineering.\n* Create strategies to reduce technical debt while continuing to deliver value to customers.\n* Create KPIs to maintain accountability.\n**Remember this role is 100% Remote in North America!\n**\n# An Ideal Candidate Looks Like:\n* Experience with Node, Redshift, Snowflake, Vertica, Clickhouse or any other column-oriented database (customer-facing analytics)\n* Experience leading development teams. If you have had past experience of growing out a small dev team one to two times, that’s great!\n* Experience in building out analytics products.\n* Strong communicator, both written and verbally.\n* No egos or micro-management. We want someone who just wants to build out the best software and take pride in their work.\n* It’s preferable if you’ve worked in small companies, but we’re open to backgrounds in large companies as well.\n\n# Tech Stack:\n**Essentials:\n**\n* Node\n* Redshift, Snowflake, Vertica, Clickhouse or any other column-oriented database (customer-facing analytics)\n\n**Nice to haves:\n**\n* Postgres\n* Mongo\n* Redis\n* Ember\nThis is a more backend focused role but frontend experience is helpful.\n\n# What else?\nCultural competency is important to us.
