Company Overview
Lullabot is a prestigious digital agency doing bleeding edge Drupal and JavaScript development for large entertainment media companies. We deal in ‘big content,’ helping companies like NBC Universal, Turner Broadcasting, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, and George Lucas Educational Foundation achieve their digital marketing dreams.

Chances are good that working for Lullabot will be like nothing you've ever done before. Lullabot has been a leader in Drupal-focused web development since our founding in 2006. We’re a distributed company without a central office, and we hire the best talent wherever those people may live. Our team is spread out across the US, Canada, and Europe. Most of us work from home. We are masters of communication and our tightly-knit team works closely despite geographical separation. In fact, most new employees say they feel more connected to their co-workers at Lullabot than they ever did at a conventional co-located company.

Lullabot hires humble individuals who strive for excellence and lifelong learning with the ultimate aim of helping others.

Job Summary
We’re hiring a full-time front-end developer with expertise in CSS, JavaScript, and React/Redux application development. This position requires 30 hours per week of client billable work usually dedicated to a single project, and another 10 hours of learning, communicating and making the web a better place for everyone through open source contribution and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities and Duties
The ideal candidate will be willing and eager to:
  • Work in service of Lullabot’s clients, team members, and the web-at-large, while embodying our core values in their work.
  • Collaborate openly with designers and back-end developers to translate visual designs based on business and functional requirements into well-crafted front-end components.
  • Apply front-end design patterns and best practices to ensure sites are performant and cross-browser compatible.
  • Write, write and write some more. Lullabot hires individuals who write well, believing that good writers are good thinkers and tend to flourish in a distributed company where communication is often asynchronous.

A typical day might begin with a Lullabot team call or some written communication time, followed by a project scrum, and then finish with four-to-six hours of writing, testing, and documenting code, usually for a single project.
The chosen candidate will report to the front-end development manager, Sean Lange, and also be accountable to the project manager on their specific project. But fear not, these relationships are not meant to be hierarchical or controlling, but rather mutually beneficial, supporting your development and growth. Also, you won’t find better colleagues to learn from or a more receptive audience to teach.

The chosen candidate must be willing and able to travel, up to one week per month. Also, the candidate must actively participate in communicating with other Lullabots in tickets, Yammer, Slack, through articles, and on calls.
We have flexible hours, but we tend to schedule meetings during the North American workday and expect employees to be online and available during most of this time.

Areas of focus for this position will include:
  • Front-end Architecture: Helps make the decisions that lead to a sustainable, component-based architecture that minimizes technical debt and allows others to navigate the codebase.
  • Responsive Design: Make sure our mobile first designs look good on every conceivable viewport. We think of breakpoints not so much in terms of mobile, tablet, desktop, but rather as the point where a design starts to break as the viewport expands.
  • Accessibility: Which involves ensuring that a website appears correctly on all devices and browsers, including for those with limitations. For more on Lullabot’s work around accessibility, visit our accessibots website.
  • Usability: Strive for simplicity. Make inviting websites that work for ordinary users rather than websites that overwhelm.
  • Performance: We work on high-profile, high-traffic websites and a deep understanding of front-end performance is essential.

Technical Qualifications
While some of these qualifications may be aspirational, this list reflects the general skill-level we expect:
  • B.S. Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related field, or 2+ years working experience as a front-end developer or related field.
  • Knowledge of current front-end design patterns and best practices.
  • Experience with responsive design.
  • Expertise in cross-browser compatibility and progressive enhancement.
  • Experience with version control systems.
  • Familiarity with CSS/JavaScript code-quality tools.
  • Experience with preprocessors: Sass.
  • Knowledge of front-end performance techniques.
  • Familiarity with Drupal development and coding standards.
  • Experience with enterprise-level deployment and build processes.

JavaScript Knowledge
  • Active knowledge of the JavaScript ecosystem over the last 18 months.
  • Use of ReactJS (ideally having launched large-scale applications).
  • Flux or similar data-flow architectures (We use Redux).
  • Gulp, npm, Webpack, Babel, Eslint, Mocha, PostCSS are all JS tools that we use on a daily basis.
  • Knowledge of video streaming techniques. Many apps that Lullabot works on are made purely to stream video. Although we often don't write the video processing logic ourselves, it does help to have a general understanding.
  • Experience with BrightScript and Roku app development a plus.

Attributes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough attention to detail, quality, and precision.
  • Ability to keep your cool, or, put another way, the ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive tasks, while attending to the next right thing.
  • Experience working with large, distributed software teams is a plus.

Benefits and Perks
Lullabot is distributed, but not a "virtual" company. The majority of our workers are full-time employees, and we provide a great benefits package including health, vision, dental, and life insurance; a retirement plan; a generous tech stipend for employees to purchase computers, cell phones, etc.; and a stock options package once you reach your two-year anniversary. We offer new employees 15 paid-days-off per year plus holidays, which goes up to 20 days on your two-year anniversary. And did we mention there's no commute? Your time is flexible as well, so if you're a night-owl and do your best work after dark, or you need to take a break to pick the kids up from school, it's usually not a problem.

Optional Video
As a distributed team, we frequently use video calls and the like to stay connected. This is your first chance to try it out with us! Create a brief (2 min or less) video introducing yourself and talking about your interest and experience for this job. We recommend creating a password protected video on Vimeo, but feel free to choose whatever method suits you best. Take a look at one-of-these-videos to see what some Lullabot employees have submitted in the past.

Salary Range
$65,000 - $85,000
Pay will be commensurate with experience. Full-time, exempt position.

One More Thing…
A quick read through Lullabot.com will show you that we grow very deliberately and take our time hiring. Our hiring process can be lengthy because we want to get it right.  We try to be transparent about our timeline and welcome you to reach out to hr@lullabot.com and touch base on your application at any time.

Lullabot, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against applicants or employees because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, or membership in any other class protected by law. A Bit About Us

  • First and foremost, we are advocates of small business owners - we know their struggles, we empathize with them and we want to help them grow their businesses

  • We’re building beautifully simple SaaS software to help them collect and analyze feedback that will help them grow their business using data, not guess work

  • We’re a remote team full of razor-sharp engineers, designers, content creators and marketers who love to learn and seek to continually get better

  • Our founder has a product/engineering/marketing background and has launched multiple companies which have generated 9-figures in combined revenue

What You’ll Do

  • Build out the front-end components that we’ll re-use as we’re building the product

  • Work closely with our other engineers to build new features that will help our customers collect, analyze and use feedback to grow their businesses

  • Fix front-end related bugs, performance issues, etc as they arise

  • Write highly readable, highly performant code that’s easy to pick up by other devs

  • Wear many hats - you know that’s the reality when you’re part of a small team

We Are For You If…

  • You want to learn from a founder who has launched multiple companies and see a job not just as a way to write code and get paid for it, but as a great learning opportunity

  • You value a team that works both hard and smart - who are obsessed with helping customers and honing their craft more than anything

  • You actually want to love your job, the people you work with and the software you help create, instead of simply tolerating them

Please note that this is a full-time role (40+ hours per week) but paid by the hour. We are looking for someone long term, not just for a project or a few months.

We’re looking for a Mid / Senior Frontend Developer, with great communication skills and a passion to help customers. If you’re always on top of the latest technologies, have a keen eye for design and you love helping customers make the best of the product you’ve built - read along! :)

Our tech stack:

We always strive to use the most suitable tool for the job, so our stack is constantly evolving. We write our frontend code in Typescript using ES6 modules. Our main stack is built using React with Redux, and vanilla Javascript. We have several applications that are yet to build so you'll have the opportunity to choose the technology that will best fit each project.
We’re not afraid to challenge our choices, we love open source and above all, we’re a product driven company so technology is at the core of everything we do. You can check out our full stack on StackShare (http://stackshare.io/findify)

Our development culture:

We are a small team that moves fast and iterates. We do weekly sprints, code reviews, testing, and once your code is submitted it gets pushed to production through our continuous deployment infrastructure (using Jenkins). We put a lot of emphasis on code style, cleanliness and robustness. You will get to work with a dedicated UX designer, and amazing engineers specializing in machine learning and distributed systems.

What you can expect from us:
As an early engineer in a small team, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact on the product, company vision and culture. You will get to work with the latest technologies out there, without being bound to any legacy. Have the opportunity to solve real-life problems using machine learning. We will never limit your creativity, never shut down ideas before testing them with customers and we will never be boring! it's going to be an exciting ride!

Compensation:

Your annual compensation will be between 20,000 and 36,000 EUR pre-tax ( about $22,500 - $40,000), based on your experience and qualifications, plus equity.

If this sounds like a company you’d love be a part of building, and you’ve got the skill set, we’d love to hear from you!

What we're looking for:

The most important thing we are looking for in a candidate is proven passion for programming and problem solving: a Github/Stackoverflow account, an interesting project you can share, or a blog you write will go a long way.
We are a distributed team, so you can work from anywhere you want, as long as it's 2 hours +/- from GMT+2. (The timezone is an important requirement for us at this stage)
It’s really important to us that you have the ability to adapt to the company’s work processes using the agile-scrum methodology, and using tools such as Jira and Slack. Not only because of our remote working culture, but even more so because of this, you need to be really awesome at communicating, and to be organized and self-driven.
Oh, and you need to want to have fun.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have solid experience with HTML5, CSS3, SASS, React and Redux
  • Have strong Typescript and ES6 skills, and able to deliver Interface based design
  • Think with responsive design
  • Have an eye for good design
  • Be proficient with modern frontend build tools and the ability to create build processes
  • Understand the core principles of functional programming and immutable state handling (and can write a .reduce function without stackOverflow :D)
  • Be good at explaining complex technological topics - for sharing knowledge within the team and being able to provide advanced support to our top merchants
  • Work with Git

Beyond the basics (what would really impress us):

  • Experience with functional programming.
  • Experience with full-stack development (Express, child process management, fs)
  • Experience with AWS management

DESCRIPTION

About Veeqo

Veeqo is an award winning high growth tech startup company which has customers around the world and an ambition to become the best software platform for online retailers to manage their business. It helps online retailers sync their stock between their website, retail stores and marketplaces like eBay and Amazon.

Veeqo is growing at an astonishing 300% per year and is expanding globally. Joining Veeqo is a unique opportunity to get involved in a world class start up. Our company is based in London and Swansea and is expanding internationally rapidly ( US, Germany …)

Our position

Because our frontend was fragmented and carries some legacy, the team recently started to make things right: never write new code without tests, practice modularity, devote time to do technical debt, etc. We need someone smarter than us who will lead this movement in frontend.

Job location

We have offices in London, Swansea and shortly Cardiff but some of our team prefer to work remote, which we fully support.

Our team

Less than a dozen developers, five of which are frontend/fullstack. Our workflow and practices are based on shared culture rather than on red tape, which means that you will be also responsible for keeping, maintaining and conducting the culture. We are still a relatively small team, so your contribution will be significant.

Our frontend technology stack

  • Marionette.js, Backbone.js, CoffeeScript, JavaScript, SCSS, Rails assets pipeline
  • Some legacy plain Backbone javascript parts and even several legacy rendered Rails views
  • Jasmine, Sinon and Capybara are used for testing
  • RESTful RoR-based backend API (you can consider it a blackbox if you wish)

    ----

    REQUIREMENTS

    Required experience

  • Building and maintaining large frontend applications
  • Writing and maintaining unit, integration and functional tests for frontend behaviour
  • Keeping technical debt low
  • Leading [at least a small] team of frontenders
  • Working in a distributed team, being absolutely comfortable working with remote teammates

Technical skills required for this job

  • Perfect knowledge and experience in Marionette.js, CoffeeScript
  • Perfect SCSS skills
  • Profound knowledge of Backbone.js
  • Good TDD skills with Jasmine or Mocha, Sinon
  • Good skills in writing tests with Capybara or similar tool
  • Good OOD skills, knowledge of OOP patterns
  • Familiarity with BEM approach

    We expect that you will:

  • Come up with a strategy of gradual improvement of our frontend codebase
  • Deliver new features as a part of our usual iteration workflow
  • Judge many trade-offs: advantages of a hot technology vs adoption cost, perfection of code vs speed of development, etc.
  • Support existing code and perform refactoring gradually making architectural improvements
  • Share your knowledge and experience with the rest of the team and significantly contribute into the developer's’ culture
  • Implement best frontend development practices
  • Give and receive a lot of code review

    Who are you ?

  • You're a person who writes clean code that not only works, but is also maintainable and easy to change
  • You’re self-organized
  • You want to make the best UI for great experience of our customers
  • You have a patience and strong will to invigorate teammates
  • You want to build a career in a global company
  • You thrive in a fast-growing, always-changing environment
  • You want to be challenged every day

What do we (as a development team) practice:

  • TDD (obviously)
  • Continuous integration
  • Continuous delivery
  • Infrastructure as code
  • Well-defined planning process
  • Regular team retrospectives
  • Non-blocking code reviews

In short, we do our best to shorten feedback loops from any change of the system.

    ----

    BENEFITS

  • Be part of a fast growth start-up and make a difference.
  • Our company highly supports personal and professional growth so it’s a great opportunity to became a team lead
  • We have an open business culture, so you’ll be able to see all aspects of the start-up growth
  • Work in a friendly, cross-functional team, with people who aim to be the best and love to tackle problems
  • Remote first - we believe in quality of work, not sitting in an office for 8 hours
  • Explicitly allocated time every week to learn new technologies and hacking
  • “The No Asshole” rule is applied
  • Annual budget for going to conferences or training in Europe
  • Spotify Premium, Private GP and Gym Membership
  • Share option

DESCRIPTION

Travis CI is looking for a user interface and experience designer in US and EU timezones.

Travis CI is a continuous integration product that helps developers test and deploy their software with confidence. We are headquartered in Berlin, Germany with over half the company working remotely. As a company we are committed to openness, diversity, collaboration, and empathy.

As a designer at Travis CI, you will work closely with our Lead Designer and with our product team members, helping them create usable and engaging designs and user experiences. As part of our Platform Development team you’ll learn the challenges we face creating an environment for users to get their jobs done with our product. Using your experience as a designer, you’ll work with developers to make changes and add features to our product UI.

More about Travis CI:

Travis CI is a continuous integration platform: We run people's tests, deploy their code and help them be confident about their work.

We have strong roots in open source, both in our community and how Travis CI was built. We continue to support the open source community wherever we can.

Travis CI is run as a hosted service, free for open source, and a paid product for private code. It's also available as an on-premises version (Travis CI Enterprise).

We're a small, bootstrapped business headquartered in Berlin, Germany, with a team distributed across Europe and the Americas. Our goal is to help people build better software. Travis CI is profitable, and we're building a sustainable business for the long run.

Our team values working at a healthy pace and a normal working day over working extreme hours. We encourage self-care and personal time to be taken. Empathy is one of our core values as a team and company, towards each other, and our customers.

We foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning. If something's worth fixing or improving, it should be fixed or improved. Making mistakes is part of what we do, and we make sure we have each other's backs and learn from them. At Travis CI, we value diversity in all aspects of our team. We value everyone's questions, insights and feedback. We devote time to help our customers, the open source community, diversity in software development and to help our local communities. Most importantly, we thrive to help and support each other.

Travis CI seeks to increase the ratio of women in software engineering and development, and we encourage women and people from underrepresented groups to apply for this position.

Travis CI is striving to be a diverse team, made of and built by people with different backgrounds and lifestyles. We don't discriminate based on race, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, age, religion, color, or any other group.

----

REQUIREMENTS

At Travis CI we treat our users with empathy and care. We’re passionate about building and maintaining a tool that helps people work efficiently and would expect you to have these qualities as well. We encourage cross-team collaboration and this role will require someone who loves teamwork and is willing to work closely with different stakeholders.

We’re looking for someone who loves crafting purpose driven, clean designs. This individual would ideally have experience in and passion for user experience. The role of this designer position will need someone with the ability to solve problems creatively and effectively, with empathy of our diverse user base.

Qualifications:

You enjoy working in a team and brainstorming with others. You are able to see the big picture of the product and work towards finding creative solutions to improve it. You’ve had at least two years of professional experience in UX/UI design. Creating wireframes, user flows/stories, process flows, is already part of your personal toolkit. Ideally you are proficient in Adobe Illustrator and other Adobe Suite programs.

A BFA or MFA degree in art or design related fields such as: Ad Graph, Interactive, and New Media design would be a nice-to-have, but no must-have. We rely on tools like GitHub and InvisionApp to keep our work transparent and accessible to others in the company, and it would be great if you had experience using those programs. Since more than half of our company is working remotely, we’d like you to have experience working with distributed teams. Though our workdays can be flexible, this position requires overlapping hours with US/EU timezones (extra bonus points if you’re located somewhere in The Americas). You must be fluent in English for this position.

Most of all we’re looking for someone who understands that design isn’t about making things pretty on the surface. We want someone who knows design is about making products easier to use and functional for a broad range of users.

----

BENEFITS

Being a distributed team, you can work from wherever you want. You don’t have to go to Berlin, but we’re happy to fly you in to meet and work with the team.

You choose your working hours. We understand life comes with responsibilities and complications. We have families and personal lives and we encourage all our builders to spend time tending to them.

Minimum paid leave per year is 25 days.

Your health insurance is partially covered by Travis CI. We’ll generally split about 50/50 between employer and employee, no matter where you are. US based employees are offered a generous benefits package which includes healthcare, 401k, commuter, and other pre-tax benefits through the co-employment organization we partner with.

We’ll ship you a Kindle and give you a book allowance so you can take time off and read.

You’ll learn and grow at conferences, we’ll pay for travel and ticket costs.

Frontend Software Developer

LaterPay

Apply

About LaterPay
We want to change the way people buy and sell digital content on the Internet. Why? Because we believe paying for digital content should be fast, convenient, and fair. And because we think you should be able to buy the exact piece of content you want.

We want to create a great software product that influences and changes the way people use paid content of any kind on the Internet. Consuming paid content should be as easy and convenient as going out to dinner: you are served first and you pay later. We want to build a user-centric product that makes users feel smart. It should represent the simplest, most secure way to buy digital goods. We want to change the way people regard paid content, turning it into a great experience. We want to enable businesses to offer “paid content as a service”, assuring users of their content’s value instead of forcing them to pay before actually getting the content.

What we have

English is our language, Slack is our “office” (though we also rent an office in Munich), GitHub’s where we keep our code, and AWS is where our stuff runs (plus some machines in a Munich DC, but we’re winding that down).

We’ve got a bunch of web UIs: newer ones built with React and Webpack and deployed to AWS S3, plus some older ones based around Django-templated HTML and jQuery. Behind them sit various services, mostly Python/Django providing REST-y APIs.

How we work

As a distributed team, we’re not too bothered by when and where you work. That said, most of us work Monday - Friday from 9ish UTC to 6ish UTC, and ideally you’d overlap heavily with that.

We try to be as asynchronous as possible, but still feel that we need some “synchronicity” to work well.

  • Based in UTC+4 and want to work “normal hours”? Sure
  • Based in UTC–8 and want to time-shift your days to overlap with “Team UTC”? If that works for you, sure
  • Hobbies, family, pets etc. that require you to take time out of your day? Assuming you can maintain a reasonable amount of overlap with the rest of the team, sure
We care more about what you do and how you work with the rest of the team, than we do about your ability to be at a chair at a desk at 9am every day.

What we’re looking for

Good command of written English

This is probably the most important quality. Communication is vital, especially as a distributed team, where most tools we use don’t communicate tone or body language.

Anecdata suggests that your English is probably better than you think it is.

A desire to fix problems “properly” (not just paper over them) AND an understanding that you often can’t fix problems properly

We want you to want to build good-quality well-engineered solutions, but to know that sometimes you just need to “hack it in”. There are always tradeoffs to be made.

Experience and drive

You don’t need to be a Senior X or Chief Y, but you do need to be capable of taking a task and owning it.

That doesn’t mean you necessarily do all the work, but it does mean you take on responsibility for completion, and asking for help and advice as appropriate.

Specifics

Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and the DOM is essential and you know what a browser is capable of and what’s available to you. Knowing how to build and debug complex applications is important, as well as ensuring they perform well. You understand how to test frontend applications, and how to choose and evaluate tools to help you better do your job. Oh, and having an eye for UX can be very valuable too.

Familiarity with React and its ecosystem is important - we need you to be able to hit the ground running with our existing React-based UIs. Knowledge of the Flux Application Architecture is also important. Familiarity with Redux is useful, though not mandatory.

A solid surface/contextual-level understanding of “the full web stack” is massively useful - we don’t expect you to know the mechanics of a DNS SOA record or the inner workings of Postgres’s HStore, but knowing the right sort of tool to use for a given task is important, as is knowing enough words to start asking helpful questions / googling the right things

Experience with Python would definitely be useful to be able to poke the underlying services

Closing date

We will be taking applications until 10 January 2017. All screens and interviews will be arranged after the closing date.

APPLY

If this sounds interesting, but you're not sure you're quite the right fit, *apply*, and let us know what you bring to the table. We're not just looking for "Computer Science degree and X years of experience with language Y".

Salary

36k-65kEUR / year

A Bit About Us

  • First and foremost, we are advocates of small business owners - we know their struggles, we empathize with them and we want to help them grow their businesses
  • We’re building beautifully simple SaaS software to help them collect and analyze feedback that will help them grow their business using data, not guess work
  • We’re a remote team full of razor-sharp engineers, designers, content creators and marketers who love to learn and seek to continually get better
  • Our founder has a product/engineering/marketing background and has launched multiple companies which have generated 9-figures in combined revenue

A Bit About You (As A Person)

  • You are a learning machine - and rarely let a day go by where you don’t learn something
  • You know, like and agree with most of the views shared by the Basecamp guys
  • You value honesty, integrity and hard work immensely
  • You have hobbies outside of work and work doesn’t define you as a person
  • You want to join a team full of smart, creative people you will learn from
  • You’re looking for a career, not just another job

A Bit About You (Tech)

  • You have 4+ years of solid front-end dev experience working on large SPAs
  • You work well with back-end developers and have a good understanding of (and respect for) the relationship between product managers and engineers
  • You’ve been part of a remote team before or you’ve freelanced for at least 2 years

In terms of languages, frameworks, etc, here’s what we’re using right now - and what you’ll need excellent familiarity with to be a great fit for this role:

  • React
  • Redux
  • SCSS
  • Jest
  • Docker

To apply: Please email the following to work@fieldboom.com:- An overview of a front-end project you’ve worked on that you were the most proud of (what, specifically, did you do, who was in your team and what did you learn)- A link to anywhere we can learn more about you (blog, web site, LinkedIn, Github, etc)- Any examples of UI/UX design work, if you have any (screenshots, portfolio, etc)- The best book you read in 2016 and why (can be non work-related)

We’ll even tell you which farms your food comes from and which other merchants provide their products.

Our merchants will have access to customers who want their products and a suite of tools which make it simple and affordable to market directly to those customers. Once a customer is engaged, we’ll provide the ability to engage with them directly, receive their praise and address any concerns they may have. We’ll also simplify merchants’ lives by propagating their hours, menu, and location changes to the entire internet. Our long term vision includes facilitating complete local economies with features such as supply-chain management.

Among other things, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Interviewing, mentoring and leading junior team members
  • Reviewing pull requests to ensure adherence to quality and design standards
  • Collaborating in the creation of clean, straight-forward, innovative user interfaces
  • Being the user-advocate by subjecting early-stage designs to usability testing and offering implementation suggestions from a user-centered perspective

You can work remotely or out of our HQ in Burlington, VT where we have Kombucha and Beer on tap. Regardless of where you work, we have generous benefits and perks available.

About You

You are a Localvore who loves amazing local food and is a US resident or citizen. You want to empower small businesses to compete with national and global chains. You’re passionate about frontend tech, play well with others, can lead and be led and can help define and complete detail oriented work. • Adapting the SCRUM Methodology, your voice will always be heard, and your strengths will be utilized.
  • Each year, you will be flown out for a business vacation, and getting to meet the team. This year, we went to Hilton Head, SC.
  • Being able to work with the freedom of a contractor, but the stability of an employee gives you the best of both worlds. Never hustle finding gigs as a freelancer, yet being able to program in your underoos. At Bonk Studios, you will always have 40 hours of work each week. This always has been and always will be the case. No more hustling to find gigs!
  • Sick of writing emails back and forth? We utilize slack, and a bug tracking system to communicate. This leaves more time to focus on developing great applications, and posting funny pictures!

Now that you know a little bit about our team and how we operate, what skills are essential to join Bonk Studios?

  • Great design must be second nature to you. Ideally, someone with a wide range of taste. For example, our website is quite unique to the typical website. Business professional, edgy, retro, etc. should all be styles that you are comfortable with.
  • Expert with CSS and SASS.
  • An expert with Bootstrap.
  • Must be a team player, great communicator, and able to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Master of time management.
  • Strong desire to always increase your skill set and adapt to new technologies.

Other skills that are a big plus:

  • Knowledgeable with SCRUM Methodology. If you have never practiced this, we can help you.
  • Knowledge of jQuery and Angular
  • Knowledge of Typescript.

    ----

    Contract Details

From time to time, Bonk Studios and the team will be flown out to visit clients to go over projects. The contractor should be available for this.

Note: This is a contracting position. No benefits will be given, nor will any taxes be with held.

UX / UI Designers Wanted!

We’re looking for passionate UX practitioners and UI designers who want to make the web a better place. We want someone who enjoys simplifying designs, making apps easy to use, and can intelligently explain their design decisions to non-designers.

Specifically, the following attributes are major positives, but not all are hard requirements:

  • Experience working with clients or other stakeholders directly. A people person.
  • Doesn’t mind a bit of travel, averaging every couple of months
  • Has strong opinions about the best UX practices
  • Familiar with all the best wire-framing and prototyping tools
  • Has experience specifically designing apps for the web or mobile devices
  • A keen eye for the proper use of type, space, and color
  • Designs beautiful interfaces that people want to touch
  • Can write HTML, CSS, and Less or Sass
  • Not afraid of the command line (even if you don't use it much)

We also expect that you're proficient in many or all of the standard tools for web design, stuff like: Adobe CS or Sketch, Axure / InVision, Git/Github, Bootstrap / Foundation / Flexbox, so on and so forth...

We’re a team of 30ish designers and developers located around the US, Canada, and even Chile. This is a remote position, but due to travel requirements we are only considering US or Canada-based designers.

Design the Future
You’ll work with clients to design applications by researching their needs, sifting through data, creating mockups and interactive prototypes, designing a perfectly polished UI, or tracking usability studies to double-check your work. The end result is a beautiful app that's dead simple to use.

In addition to client work, you’ll have the opportunity to shape a small and growing company by applying your talent and passion towards an area of interest. Bitovi's designers:

  • Speak at conferences
  • Give trainings
  • Run meetups
  • Maintain open source projects
  • Write articles

Benefits
  • Competitive salary and annual bonuses
  • Company retreats (previously in Scottsdale, Milwaukee, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Amelia Island)
  • 401(k) plan with matching
  • 4 weeks paid vacation
  • Health and dental insurance
  • Gym membership reimbursement
  • Maternity/paternity leave
  • Work from home

To apply: Send your resume and a thoughtful introduction to designjobs@bitovi.com. In your intro, tell us three reasons why you're perfect for this role. Focus on your past work and experience, and point us to some recent work. If you have any specific salary requirements or other conditions, make sure to include those as well!

WayBetter Senior Front End Developer

WayBetter has an exciting opportunity for a passionate, creative Senior Front End Developer to help us tear down our existing monolithic stack and completely rebuild it from the ground up with a modern, mobile-first, service-oriented architecture. This is your chance to build mobile and web apps with modern technology in a greenfield environment.

The WayBetter Way

At WayBetter, our mission is to make getting healthier fun.

Our life-changing games inspire people everywhere to live healthier every day. Our players support and motivate each other while financial incentives hold everyone accountable. Our formula has already helped more than 400,000 people reach their health goals and earn more than $25 Million – it’s based on science and it really works. We’ve created a proven motivational system and we’re excited to change the way people lose weight, stay active, exercise, sleep, quit smoking, and adopt healthier habits. We want your help!

What we're looking for

As our Senior Front End Developer, you’ll be working with a small, growing team of experienced engineers.  You will be responsible for developing the web client and web tier of our products, including the WebView components for mobile apps.  You will also have ample opportunity to aid in the design of our back-end services.  You’ll play a key role in identifying and investigating new technologies, prototyping and testing, and rapid iteration releases.

Required Qualifications

  • Expertise with JavaScript, React and Node.js in production environments

  • Strong knowledge of HTML5 and web fundamentals (CSS, HTTP,  cookies, security, performance, etc.)

  • Strong relational database knowledge (MySQL, Postgres)

  • Experience with automated testing (writing unit tests)

  • Familiarity with AWS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing iOS and/or Android apps a major plus

  • Experience with React Native a major plus

  • Experience with micro-service architecture

  • Familiarity with NoSQL

  • Design/UX skills

  • Knowledge of code deployment best practices

  • Experience with Docker

  • Experience with websockets

Compensation and Benefits

  • Generous health care coverage.

  • 401(K)

  • Untracked, flexible vacation policy

  • Paid parental leave

  • Training opportunities

  • Meaningful equity participation

  • A healthy, collaborative, and fun work environment

  • A life outside work

WayBetter? Yes!

We care a lot about our company's culture and apply to our workplace the same principles that successfully power our games: fun, social support, and accountability. We also live by our belief that a healthy work-life balance is vital when it comes to sustainable, long-term success.

We know that when you join a startup you’re investing in that company. Unlike investors who risk other people’s money, you’re investing something more precious: your time. You can feel good about investing in WayBetter. We’ve been around for over five years and have raised over $5 million from successful entrepreneurs with deep pockets (including several billionaires). We were cashflow positive for the first five months of 2016 ... becoming self-funding means we control our own destiny. The bottom line is that we’re building the kind of company we want to work for, one with enduring value, inspiring co-workers, and happy customers.

Want to apply? Please send your portfolio (website, GitHub, app links), resume, and a note that tells us something about you that we can't pick up from your portfolio/resume.

What you'll do

You'll collaborate to build, maintain and streamline the client-facing part of our large application. Among other responsibilities, you'll get to design animations and widgets, implement core third-party plugins, optimize our mobile application, and refine and redesign our search functionality. You'll have both the opportunity and the independence to tackle all kinds of challenges: some days you'll work on refactoring a legacy part of the app to make it do something new, and on others, you'll build a brand new, greenfield feature.

You

You can write clean, maintainable javascript, and if you're not familiar with Ruby/Rails, you are ready to learn. You are excited to improve our website to better serve customers. You're comfortable refactoring existing code in the interest of readability and performance. You have a willingness and capability to pick up and evaluate new technologies. When you get ready to take on a new feature, you break it down into smaller releases. You communicate and collaborate with the whole team, be it to work through tough code problems or clarify product specifications.

 Us

  • We're a small team focused on opening up the old school real estate world.
  • Our goal is to build the best place for people to browse, shop for, and buy homes.
  • We employ an iterative approach to building products and deploy multiple times a day.
  • We have a big vision.
  • We believe in hiring smart people and giving them the support and flexibility to succeed.
  • If you work locally, you'll be in a relaxed and fun office in the Belltown neighborhood.

We're looking to hire the best people wherever they are in the world. If you don't want to relocate to beautiful Seattle, you should be awesome at working from home and available to join our daily stand-up at 10am Pacific. We have a few devs in Europe, a few in Argentina and several more based out of Seattle. We've had remote developers since 2011, and are seasoned veterans of working with a distributed team, across multiple time zones.

Diversity

Estately seeks to increase the ratio of women and underrepresented minorities in software engineering and development, we encourage women and people from underrepresented groups to apply for this position.

Estately is striving to be a diverse team, made of and built by people with different backgrounds and lifestyles. We don't discriminate based on race, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, age, religion, color, or any other group.

Breadwallet is looking for an experienced software engineer to work with us to build out the future of money. We’re the leading mobile Bitcoin wallet, and need a few more hands to help us achieve our vision: to be the onramp to Bitcoin.

Our team is a group of Bitcoin enthusiasts. We’re geographically distributed across the US and Canada, with a central office in San Francisco, CA. About You

You understand good UX and good UI and what that means.

You love to create successful designs (that delight customers).

You can successfully bring a whole concept from idea to wireframe, to mockup/prototype (and ideally to HTML/CSS as well).

You're great with clients, whether it's the CTO or a company's executive assistant.

You have visible and amazing accomplishments (ideally in web and mobile environments).

You're ready for a long-term fit with the flexibility to create your best work, again and again.

About Clevertech

15 years developing apps has taught us this: Build people, then products.

We’re aware that solid engineering practices and our love of Agile principles aren’t enough to ensure that we translate our clients’ dreams into software that shapes the world.

Our team of nearly 100 developers and designers are what make it possible.

They’ve rejected offers from Google and Twitter. They’re parents, travelers, or aspiring entrepreneurs. Some are in the planning stages of launching their own startups. Here’s what they have in common:

They’re all invested in becoming better together and we support their constant learning.

For more on how we do this, check out why.clevertech.biz. Some of the great things we do together are captured in cleverte.ch/bloomberg and visualcaptcha.net. We're also proud to be one of FlexJob's 100 Top Companies to Watch for Remote Jobs in 2016. The list goes on!

About the Job

At Clevertech, we understand why it’s great to be part of the gig economy—we also understand some of the challenges it can present.

By offering ongoing, full-time roles, we eliminate the burnout and guesswork involved in being a contract worker. We’re also interested in making it possible for our team to focus on what they do best. Busy work that gets in the way of high-quality code is our worst enemy!

Here’s how it works:

* We work with quality clients who have brilliant ideas they want to scale, scale, scale :)
* Schedules are flexible—you work when you're in flow, from wherever you wish
* You focus on one client at a time; when you're finished with one, we provide another
* We use the latest tools and streamline every workflow imaginable
* Everyone on our team shares your culture, irrespective of where they are physically

If you're not a native English speaker, people often mistake you as such.

We like to build stuff… sometimes complicated stuff… for Art Galleries, Non Profits and Charities. We’ve been growing fast over the past few years and so we’re back on the lookout for another confident and ambitious CSS Styling Specialist and Drupal Themer to join our team.

We do things a little differently, basing all our solutions on open source products, having flexible working hours and a real team mentality. The role will expose you to a really wide range of projects and you can expect to be developing all sorts of web applications, sites and apps for a range of clients. Your principle focus will be in converting complex and challenging designs into responsive pixel perfect themes for the Drupal platform but we also develop other stand alone sites and platforms which will also require your styling expertise. There is also the opportunity to contribute to the design and UX process on a number of fronts and the ideal candidate will help us to achieve the best user experience solutions for our clients.

The ideal candidate will have:

– Excellent HTML and CSS skills including working knowledge of LESS or SASS, Bootstrap or Zurb Foundation and other frameworks etc

– Confidence in a PHP based environment

As part a small (but growing) team of 30 you’ll have instant responsibility and an opportunity to learn new skills and explore new technologies.

What were looking for is someone who can grasp concepts quickly, has great attention to detail, and most importantly loves a tech challenge. In short, we’re a young team of self confessed geeks who love tinkering and tweaking until something is just right and are looking for someone who thinks and acts like us.

Frontend Developer

&yet

We’re looking to add an experienced and UX-minded JavaScript engineer to our team.

Posting a job opening is a rare event for us, as nearly every member of our team was individually invited. When we have posted job openings, however, we’ve met and found some truly amazing people. So we’re really excited to meet you!

A good number of us work out of Fuse in Richland, WA, but our team works remotely. We’d prefer someone in the western states—we’ve done the global thing in the past and timezones are a real heartbreaker, let me tell you.

Why &yet?

&yet is a people first organization.

We believe a business can be a prototype of the world you want to live in. We want a more generous, empathic, equal, and loving world, with better mental and physical health, inclusivity, and equality. So that’s how we aim to work and to help each other work. We’re not perfect, but we’re always striving to improve.

What we do

Our team loves to do great things and get stuff done.

We’re open source software builders and consultants. We serve clients and we build and support products like Talky and the Node Security Platform—and, in doing so, create new tools that help others do their own new and innovative work.

We create a lot of realtime applications and services. We build web applications and APIs. Because we have a security consultancy as part of our team, we do a lot that intersects with security, too. You’ll often find us writing JavaScript (frontend and backend), but we’ve done a lot of Python in the past, too. Sometimes we’ll write Go, Lua, C, or a variety of other languages.

We believe in contributing to open source software. We create and help maintain a variety of useful open source tools and community efforts like the Node Security Project and Is WebRTC Ready Yet? (Note: yes, it is.)

Who we are

But in addition to conference talks, we occasionally put on conferences of our own that defy categorization, blow people’s minds, and leave everyone with a lot of deep stuff to think about.

With RealtimeConf, our team used storytelling, theatre, music, and multi-sensory design to create an event that asked people to think about the place of power that technologists have to shape the freedom of society. Our friend Paul Campbell said, “I came home full of ideas and a will to be a better person. Can’t ask any more.”

With &yetConf, we gathered dreamers of diverse backgrounds and aspirations—developers, poets, artists, scientists, activists. It’s hard to put it in words, but if you want to understand what it was like, it’s worth reading WillowPaddyIvana, and Aimee’s accounts of the event, or the things people said about it on Twitter.

&yet is completely bootstrapped, self-funded, and has no plans of selling out to anyone. We’ve been around for almost 9 years now.
What’s it like to work at &yet?

Our goal as an organization is to have every person feel valued as a person—not just for their work, but for their whole self. We really believe that no matter their job title it is every person’s job to make the people around them feel valued, cared about, understood, and encouraged.

The people you’ll be surrounded by as teammates will have high expectations for you because, I mean, you’re awesome. But they’ll also back you up and provide support when you need it.

We invest deeply in people as individuals. We believe that everyone has incredible potential and that by taking care of people really well and by letting them bring their whole selves, we can bring out the absolute best. As a result, all of our team call this the best job they've ever had.

Because we’ve been around for almost a decade, we feel quite lucky to have some remarkable alumni and friends who form our extended community. For the majority of folks who’ve been part of our team and since moved on, working at &yet has been an extremely valuable phase in their career.

So enough about us. Let's talk about you.

You—you, my friend—would play a huge role on our team right out of the gates if you had these qualifications:

  1. You're a leader—first of yourself. You help drive projects in quality and completeness. You can't stand being blocked from getting things done and you know how to get unblocked. You strongly prefer not to be managed.
  2. You're willing to ask questions, look dumb, be wrong, take risks, and fail. You like the idea of committing to a project that means you'll need to learn a number of new skills along the way and do things you've never done before.
  3. You take way more of your share of blame and give way more than your share of credit.
  4. You're not an Awesome Rock Star Ninja Superstar. When you think about it, you're happy with how much better you are today than you were yesterday. You're good but painfully humble about it because you know how much you have to grow and how much you can learn from those around you.
  5. You write well and know how to communicate your thoughts in written form.
  6. You’re very comfortable working in an environment where most of the engagement takes place in chat.
  7. You're a good communicator and play well with others, recognizing conflict is a creative force when handled correctly.
  8. You're opinionated and you know how to state your position without being offensive and argue your point without being defensive. (And, when you do get defensive, you know how to own up to it and revisit the conversation with a fresh attitude.)
  9. You accept criticism of your work and take it well. It may hurt because you care about your work and put your heart into it, but you value the result of being able to make several great iterations based on feedback.
  10. You're a great student and teacher. You don't ever want to "arrive"--you just want to keep growing.
  11. You love finding ways to make things better—your work, others' work, and your collaboration together.
  12. You prefer simplicity over complexity, writing clear and accessible code over being clever.
  13. You believe in refactoring as a constant process.
  14. Reading this list makes your heart pound at least a little bit.

Oh, skills? Right. Those are important, too.

  1. You love building applications and interfaces for desktop and mobile. And what you love to build is simple and clear design that works well and is visually minimalistic.
  2. You’re completely comfortable and confident with CSS, including the use of preprocessors such as Sass, Less, Stylus, or PostCSS. You're constantly reading and discovering the latest methods and sharing them.
  3. You're very at home with frontend Javascript, have used React and Redux (or some form of the Flux architecture) and enjoy the chance to use primarily these tools in building applications, and you’re confident with clientside MVC (a la Backbone or Ampersand).
  4. You’re comfortable with backend JS and you've built something with Node.js.
  5. You know Git and the command line well.
  6. You are always eager to learn how to write more secure code.
  7. You've worked in a web framework or two—like Rails, Node.js, Django.
  8. Extra bonus: You don’t mind configuring servers and you’re familiar with Docker.

Intimidated? Don’t be. <3

Yes, the lists above are ambitious. Yes, you’d be joining a high performing team of remarkable people. But don’t be afraid. :) We are friendly, welcoming, and encouraging, and it would be our honor to have you apply. If you read this far in the job posting, we seriously think you’re really cool :)

What we care most about is adding folks to our team who are big-hearted and curious, who believe software is about people and who know how to ship software.

Here's what you should do next.

  1. Write us something to introduce yourself as whole person. We want to get to know you!
  2. Go item by item through the qualifications and skills lists above and respond to them about yourself. Give yourself a 1-10 rating and add your comments for each. Don’t worry if you feel like there’s something you wish you were better at. We’ve had some amazing people join our team and we’ve found a lot of times the best people don’t think very highly of their own skills.
  3. Send us examples of your work and links to where you're at online (twitter, github, personal site).
  4. Tell us something that you don't know that you would like to learn.
  5. Let us know your shirt size, type preference—fitted (women's cut) or unisex—and your mailing address, and we'll send you a shirt as a thanks for your time and care in putting together a thorough application.

Send everything to apply@andyet.com. Show us you're a great fit by going above and beyond the requirements for what's listed above and giving us a feel for your personality while you do it.

We're looking forward to hearing from you!

    Summary:

The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior/Lead UX Designer to help build features that enable our communities to achieve our Vision: a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge.

UX Designers at Wikipedia design and build features, products and services used by hundreds of millions of people around the world every day. This is an opportunity to ‘do good’ while having a high level of impact at a large-scale media property.

You will join the Discovery Department, where we focus on improving the searchability and visibility of content that already exists on Wikipedia and our sister projects. You’ll be supporting teams that work on exciting open source technologies, such as ElasticSearch, OpenStreetMaps, and Wikidata Query Service. These teams are working on ambitious projects that are transforming the way users find and interact with Wikipedia.

The Wikimedia Foundation is an equal opportunity employer, and we encourage people with a diverse range of backgrounds to apply. We also welcome remote and international applicants across all timezones.

As a Senior/Lead UX Designer, we’d like you to do these things:

    • Provide technical and personnel management and leadership for a team of 2 designers including hiring, personal development, goal-setting and general support.

    • Mentor junior designers on all aspects of UX design

    • Create experiences that go beyond good design into delighting users.

    • See features through, from idea on paper to implementation. Work with designers, developers, community members, and product managers to help drive product roadmaps with your ideas.

    • Work with our growing team of designers to create reusable design patterns which span desktop, tablet and phone.

    • Be passionate about content discovery and all its aspects, from search, to maps, to complex query engines.

    • Interact with our reader and editor communities from the beginning to end of your design process. Be active in soliciting feedback from both internal and external stakeholders.

    • Distill complex concepts into easy to understand talking points to effectively articulate your vision with your team and the community. Illustrate your designs with lightweight specs or living documents to engage with developers.

    • Occasionally provide design-related support for other functional teams. Mentor junior designers and share knowledge with non-design staff to raise the overall level of design fluency within the organization.

    • Have a creative vision of your own while being able to work within the bounds of what is possible, and imagine what can come next.

    • Reduce, simplify, distill. Know how to let go. Create experiences that are effortless for users by reducing UI complexity down to its essential components.

Lasso is the leading designer and developer of cloud-based, on-demand Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software for the new home building industry.

A couple of years ago we started re-writing our most-used features as a typical AngularJS-in-browser-app with a Java-powered API for the back-end, and we’re now ready to start building new and innovative features.

To do so, we’re looking for an experienced front-end developer to join our front-end team of two. You would work closely with the product development team to provide rough time estimates for prioritization, and with the back-end team to define the API they will implement. Our product development process is based on analytics and user research, and you would set up user interviews for new interfaces and interaction processes you build. We work with a design consultant for complex and graphical design work. No need for you to jump into Photoshop.

As a key member of our front-end team, you’ll:

    • Build interfaces based off of requirements provided by the product development team
    • Design interfaces with a focus on usability and good interactivity (no graphical design necessary though)
    • Write maintainable and testable code
    • Work closely with your team members (many of which are full-time remote)

      Requirements:

    • You thrive in a self-directed and open work environment. There’s no boss breathing down your neck, no deadlines, no fixed work hours and no in-office requirements. It’s really important that you can manage your time well, and you know what you need in order to do your job well (e.g. what work hours to pick so you have enough time to communicated with team members effectively)
    • Lots of experience building browser-based apps, especially single-page apps
    • Familiarity with multiple modern Javascript and CSS frameworks
    • Experience with modern front-end build processes (transpiling, npm, css preprocessors, etc)
    • Knowledge of UX patterns (e.g. Gutenberg diagram, Gestalt principles, Fitt’s Law, Hick’s Law - that doesn’t mean you need to know these by name, just the general concepts and how they relate to user experience)
    • Familiarity with functional programming and bonus points for reactive programming experience
    • Experience with automated testing of client side javascript (both integration and unit tests)
    • Experience with complex layouts and responsive design

      Benefits:

We take our software very seriously while fostering a relaxed, fun, and supportive environment. Here are some of the things we provide:

    • We understand that developers know themselves best
    • Work where and how you are most productive
    • You are not required to be in the office. Start time and work times are flexible
    • We’ll provide a development setup of your choosing, whether it’s a Macbook Pro or the components for a nice PC tower, you can pick whatever works best for you
    • Pick your own tools. We use what we know best. Windows, Mac, Linux, whatever you like
    • We provide you with a tools budget that you can use to make yourself productive ($300 per year, no authorization needed)
    • We know learning is a must on and off the job. We have an internal reading group. We provide formal education matching (up to $1500 yearly) and funding for other continued learning, conferences, and workshops
    • Medical and Dental benefits
    • We strive to attract the smartest and best talent and we ensure our compensation reflects this

      Interested?

Lasso’s vision is to be the technology hub for new home sales in North America by providing a unique combination of remarkable software and expert services. To achieve our vision we need great developers. That’s why we’ve created a great work environment, encouraging self-direction, personal development, and teamwork.

    About you

You love working at the intersection of form and function, making web apps that do their job and keep users coming back, again and again.  You have a passion for excellence in code.  Clean, tested code is just as important to you as your app's functioning and aesthetics.  You’re excited at the possibility of working for a small but established startup with big potential, whose customers are among the largest worldwide names in healthcare.  You also thrive in a work-from-home environment, and you have a proven track record of delivering your art from the quiet (or not so quiet) of your home, a coffee shop, the park, or whatever floats your Bring Your Own Office boat.

You live, eat, drink, and breathe Javascript.  The front end is your happy place, and the one you've spent the most time in.  You can handle it all by yourself, including architecting, developing, and testing.  You have deep experience with a huge variety of Javascript tools and frameworks, which gives you the confidence to make informed technology choices that are in tune with industry trends and Best Practices.  And while you prefer living in the front end, you can get by on the backend when necessary.

    About us

At Symplur we are connecting the dots in healthcare social media, elevating the patient’s voice. We’ve built a platform called Symplur Signals that promotes a deep understanding of healthcare as seen by patients, doctors and other stakeholders with real-time access to insights from over a billion healthcare social media data points. Our users range from world renowned universities and government agencies to global pharmaceutical companies.

We offer paid healthcare, 100% remote work, and a generous vacation policy.  We follow the latest technology trends, and we strive to keep our systems updated and to use the latest and greatest tools.  We embrace MySQL, Redis, PHP, Laravel, Docker, Git, and AWS Cloud Hosting, to name a few.

    Your Responsibilities

At Symplur, your main task will be to head up our front end development efforts.  This means supporting our legacy customer-facing Laravel app while architecting and developing the front ends that will replace it.  This will involve integrating numerous Javascript libraries and tools, and helping to be the voice of the user when it comes to UI and UX design.  You will have significant sway on the technology choices used.  Your work will rely upon the brand-new REST APIs that our backend team is feverishly building.  You will work closely with them, helping to define which API services and data points are needed, and being the first real-world consumer of their work.

Our engineers build systems that catch bad guys.  Using all available payment, user, and machine data, we have to separate legitimate credit card transactions from fraudulent in under 400ms.  That means doing just-in-time mash-ups of internal data with external APIs and reducing it all into a single score with a few critical insights for end-users.

We want to grow our product team by adding an accomplished visual designer with skills in both interface and user-experience design. (We wanted to grow our product team by sprinkling it with plant food, but that only upset people, so now we’re trying this.)

    About You
First and foremost, you’re a problem solver - whether you’re identifying user goals, designing and redesigning an interface to perfection, or building a really complicated IKEA armoire, you love a good challenge. When you’re confronted with ideas as devilishly complex and messy as a big ball of Christmas lights, you know how to untangle them to create something straightforward, simple, and only a moderate fire hazard.

When it comes to our app, that means crafting an interface that makes the user experience as simple, enjoyable, and rewarding as possible, one iteration at a time. (Because nothing is ever perfect - except, of course, Comic Sans.) Like Tony Robbins speaking into a mirror, you’re self-motivated - you proudly take ownership of your work, but still love close collaboration with a team-tastic team. And while you can articulate your design rationale, you also aren’t afraid to be wrong sometimes - in fact, you thrive on feedback like a beautiful flower thrives on the delicious UV rays of Earth’s golden sun. (Ahhh, so inspirational!)

The sort of projects you’ll work on include:
    • Plotting the user onboarding experience
    • Designing a drag-and-drop queue interface
    • Polishing the subscription cancel flow
    • A/B testing signup pages
    • Designing inline editing in the content library

Like the tenacious fire ant, our product team is small but mighty, and frequently ruins picnics. You’ll be joining them as our first full-time designer dedicated exclusively to Edgar’s interface, working directly with our full-stack developers to breathe sweet life into your ingenious concepts.

In other words? You’ll have a major hand in defining the look and feel of a product used by thousands of small-business customers, with a significant sense of independence and ownership to go with it. As we keep on growing, you’ll find plenty of new opportunities to help us take our app to the next level both visually and functionally - heck, if we didn’t already work here, we know that’s what WE would want to be doing!

    Job Deets Cheat Sheet

    Your experience:
    • 4+ years designing web applications, shipped to production and enjoyed by zillions of happy users (or at least HALF a zillion)
    • Thorough understanding of the technical trade-offs and limitations of designing for the web
    • Masterful vector and raster design skills using the standard cadre of professional tools
    • Familiarity creating work at multiple fidelities, from high level wireframes down to pixel-perfect mockups and prototypes
    • A mind-blowing portfolio of well-reasoned interface solutions
    • Qualitative user research experience
    • Some basic HTML/CSS knowledge

Extra special bonus points for any of the following:
    • Ability to roll up your sleeves and translate your designs into production-worthy markup and styles using modern front-end dev tools and techniques (you can leave your sleeves unrolled if that’s more comfortable)
    • Illustration skills
    • Etch-a-Sketch expertise

    About Us
We’re a small team of 20-ish people, all working remotely across the US & Canada. We do a lot of collaborating and meme-swapping on Slack, along with virtual team meetings and super-futuristic video calls. We also do a twice-annual meetup week where we work together on cool projects all day and rock the karaoke mic all night.

We’re proudly bootstrapped and profitable, which means we get to turn down VC money a lot and keep doing things the way we like. We’re pretty serious about building and maintaining an awesome, positive company culture, so, you know, no jerks. We'll probably get along if you’re someone who wants to be creative, have a pretty-serious-but-not-inhuman amount of responsibility, and work with people who make going to work not suck. (And be one of those people yourself. We like those people.)

    Life on Team EdgarBenefits
(REMOTE POSITION. Applicants must be able to show documentation of eligibility to work in the USA.)
    • Monthly cleaning service for your home - not that we don't have total faith in you
    • 4 weeks paid vacation (Shazam! And yes, everyone actually uses all 4 weeks)
    • Paid home Internet service or coworking space/coffee shop working expenses
    • 75% of costs covered for health, dental, and vision for you and your fam
    • 401k with employer matching
    • An extra paid day off per quarter so you can volunteer in your community (awww)
    • New Mac laptop (#blessed)

Teacup Analytics is looking for a front-end developer.

We’re removing the noise from Google Analytics data to provide the simplest, most insightful analytics experience for small businesses and web professionals.

It starts with their website. Built on top of Google Analytics, Teacup qualitatively grades traffic channels, segment by segment, landing page by landing page. So we know which channels are marvelous and which landing pages really work. But this is just the beginning.

    The good bits:

You’ll be one of the first full-time employees at Teacup (we went live in March 2016), so there’s plenty of room to add your charm and direction to the company.

Eventually, you’ll be working with a great team to compliment your strengths. As the team grows, your role will too, if that’s what you want.

Work from anywhere - there’s no office, so you can work where you feel happiest.

    The challenging bits:

As our first dedicated front-end developer, you’ll be in charge of the web UI. This means bridging our awesome designs and sophisticated backend functionality to produce a simple, beautiful and reliable user experience.

In addition, you will be responsible for the architecture of the front-end code, both existing and new. Prepare to dive in and start a combination of new feature build and continuous optimisation of existing code. Your passion for a great user experience will be called on.

As a modern startup, we aim to have complete test coverage. However, our existing front-end code has been in too much flux due to rapid feature build to justify this. We are now moving into a more stable development phase, so you’ll be expected to write tests for all new code, and existing untested code over time.

Because we work with skilled designers, you do not need to be a graphic design expert. However, you will need to be able to work with existing and new HTML and CSS from our designer, and produce some of your own.

    The basic bits:

This is a full time role.

Competitive compensation with payment in dollars.
