Hiya 👋We’re the folks at Jilt, an email marketing platform built for eCommerce. We help thousands of stores surprise and delight their customers with automated emails that drive sales. We’re looking for a smart, detail-oriented person to join our team as our first front-end engineer.

**The Role**

You’ll work closely with your teammates on the engineering team (Justin, Lucas, Hannes, Dani, and Jonathan) to create intuitive & engaging interfaces based on direction from the product team (Beka). While Jilt is built as a traditional Ruby/Rails app, we use Angular (v1) to power our visual email editor and Vue.js for some areas with a lot of dynamic content. You’ll work on both areas and help engineer an incredible user experience.

While the majority of your time will be spent focused on the app front-end, we have some features that are powered by JavaScript running on our customer’s stores. This means you’ll be able to flex your defensive programming skills and ensure our code works in harmony with a wide variety of browsers and other 3rd party scripts.

As our first dedicated front-end engineer, the team will often look to you for advice and direction. You’ll help shape our best practices, decide on frameworks and tooling, and refactor older or underperforming parts of the codebase. You’ll also be responsible for moving your projects forward, communicating your progress and milestones with others, and clearly documenting your work.

**Here are some things you may do on a given day:**

- Write some new JavaScript (with unit tests 😄) to improve part of the onboarding flow
- Track down a tricky bug in the email editor and develop a hotfix
- Research and write a pitch to migrate our CSS to a new framework
- Transform the design for a new part of the UI into HTML / CSS

**On the first day you will:**

- Meet your team and get familiar with how we work
- Setup your local environment and tooling
- Commit a small tweak to the codebase and ship it to production

**In the first week you will:**

- Develop, QA, review, and ship a small feature improvement
- Participate in code review for a teammate’s code
- Help a team member with fixing a bug

**In the first month you will:**

- Work closely with the product team to ship a large feature
- Participate in your first support rotation week and help our support team with escalated issues
- Publish a retrospective on your first large project to share successes & planned improvements for the next project

**You**

You love writing JavaScript that’s clear, self-documenting, and standards-compliant, whether by itself, alongside jQuery, or as part of a JS framework like Vue, Angular, or React. You believe in combining JS with beautiful & semantic HTML / CSS and are comfortable with supersets like CoffeeScript and templating languages like Slim. You’re also comfortable with Ruby / Rails and can move seamlessly between working on the back-end code that produces the data you need for front-end interactions.

You love beautiful design and working with others to transform concepts into real-world interfaces that are a joy to use. You love keeping up-to-date with the latest best practices and tools, and are constantly tweaking and improving the way you work.

You’re excited to solve engineering challenges in the most pragmatic way possible, and most importantly, you keep the end user in mind and love getting feedback from customers to help improve our products.

Finally, you can’t wait to join a small team that loves their work as much as you do, affords the opportunity to work on challenging & interesting projects, continuously learn and improve, and constantly ship your work. You’re an excellent writer and can communicate effectively whether drafting up a bug report, chatting in Slack, or editing a wiki page. You know that code is about communication and explaining your thought process clearly goes hand-in-hand.

Our team is fully remote and stays in touch primarily via Slack and weekly check-ins over Zoom. That said, we believe spending time together is important — availability for 1-2 company-paid [team trips](https://jilt.com/blog/remote-team-retreat-2018/) per year is necessary.

This is a full-time, salaried position, but hours are flexible. We know your work will speak for itself with commits, issues closed, and wiki edits.

**Here are some benefits we're happy to offer to our team members:**

- Competitive salary
- Annual incentive for meeting team and company goals
- 27 days of paid time-off, in addition to 2 company holidays (SkyVerge Day in March, Founders Day in June 😀)
- Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance for US and Canadian residents and their families (reimbursements for comparable care for non-US/Canadian residents)
- 401k/RRSP Retirement plan with 4% company match for US/Canadian residents (contributions to comparable plans for non-US/Canadian residents)
- 8 weeks paid parental leave for new mothers and fathers
- Work flexible hours from anywhere that has a reliable internet connection
- Tools (hardware/software) to help you be productive
- Allowance for professional growth (books, courses, conferences)
- Home office or co-working allowance
- A Kindle to help you keep learning

*We support workplace diversity and do not discriminate on any protected class. We believe when we work together as a team of different views, experiences, and ideas, we can build amazing things.*

Requirements

Please apply directly through the link below. Applications accepted through **August 31st.**

🚨No agencies and dev shops please!

Smartbnb is a bootstrapped company whose core product currently helps short-term rental businesses manage and automate over 60,000 properties. We are a growing team of 6 passionate people with plans to expand rapidly by the end of 2018.

With multiple new product launches on the horizon and several more planned before the end of the year, you will be joining the company at a time of explosive growth. Your presence will have a very real impact on the company’s value.

We are looking for a Frontend Web Developer to join our tech team’s efforts to supercharge our PHP web application. You will be working directly with Pierre-Camille, our founder, who developed the original product from scratch, as well as with all members of the tech, marketing, and success teams.

Our company is fully distributed and remote. We believe and fully embrace that your best environment is wherever you - personally - feel the most productive and comfortable for day-to-day work. Nevertheless, we organise frequent meetups and retreats for the team to physically meet throughout the year. The last two trips were to Lisbon/Cascais and Paris!

⭐️ **What you will do: **⭐️

• You will be our web app’s interior designer.

• You will be responsible both for our public site’s and the web app’s frontend code, through layout, elegant presentation, visual functionality, and compatibility across a wide range of browser versions and form factors.

• You will be in charge of completely overhauling our legacy, spaghetti frontend javascript into a unified, beautifully-structured, and testable web app.

• You will take charge of your own work and proactively suggest improvements.

• In a remote environment you will be responsible for your own time and results – there will be no babysitting.

✅ **What you will need to succeed:** ✅

• UX Geek: you know how to strike the right balance between swanky animation and Zen-like simplicity to drive great user experiences.

• Independent: you are self-motivated, take initiative, and are a strong communicator. You are results-driven and willing to learn and improve yourself.

• Technical Ninja: proficient at vanilla Javascript and PHP, Vue.js 2.x or Angular 4/5/6, Twig/Blade/Handlebars templating, jQuery, HTML5, CSS3 (all the good stuff), semantic/schema markup, LESS/SCSS, Webpack and/or Gulp, and Git, backed by 5+ years of frontend development experience.

• Interface Artisan: you can clearly describe data structure requirements as well as points of entry for your frontend code, enabling other developers to integrate their frontend and backend code painlessly.

• Caring Developer: you recognise that your code and work impact not only the customers but also the rest of the team. You conduct yourself with professionalism and respect not only in meetings but also in how you structure your code and in the documentation that you write.

• Superb English fluency: we are an international team and clear communication is vital. It goes without saying (but we’ll say it anyway) that you absolutely must have the ability to participate in frequent video meetings.

Frontend Developer/Designer      £35k-£50k + stock options

About us:

Adzuna is a job search engine that lists every job, everywhere. From launch in the UK in 2011, we now have more than 10 million visitors a month and are busy conquering the world from our office in West London. Right now, we're seeking a Frontend Developer/Designer to join our world class tech team in helping millions of people find better, more fulfilling jobs.

The role:

Our engineering and product teams are pivotal to Adzuna's future. It's an exciting time as we scale our existing product offering and also innovate with new tools and user experiences that 'surprise and delight' our audience, like ValueMyCV, which we're really proud of. You'll mostly work on our 16 internationalised Adzuna websites, as well as the 'Find a Job' portal that we run on behalf of the UK Government and also occasional WordPress sites for blogs and partnerships. You'll work closely with our business teams to dream up high impact projects for us to get stuck into. We're a place where your opinion counts and where we make things happen.

Based in our great Fulham office you will work with a smart team of back end, data science, product and frontend specialists. We work on a mix of 'epic' and 'business as usual' requirements, and on projects across our portfolio, so no two days are the same. There is a huge scope of opportunity to play with and deploy new technologies where they fit the business need and can take us to the next level.

You'll be creating engaging user experiences, with structured code that is fast, scalable, reliable and robust. Right now, we're spending lots of time around React and its ability for us to develop great UI's quickly and efficiently, whilst our DevOps team are designing our AWS cloud infrastructure and determining the best deployment practices for scalability and rapid iteration.  It's a fun and fast moving environment. Join us!

About you:

We don't like to put people in boxes, but you're likely to be able to demonstrate much of the below:

* Minimum 2-5 years of experience as a Frontend Developer

* Ability to slice designs into pixel-perfect HTML prototypes using HTML5 and CSS3

* Understanding and experience of SASS

* Demonstrable experience and understanding of UXD and working with product teams

* Solid knowledge of Javascript (ES2015 a bonus)

* Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) awareness

* You've played around with React (ideally commercially)

Useful experience that it would be great to see, but is not essential:

* Web design (Photoshop / Illustrator)

* Gulp / Grunt

* Working knowledge of WordPress (creation of child themes, customisation, templating)

* Experience with Git version control

* Classified ads / vertical search websites

What we offer:

* £35k - £50k per annum based on experience

* Stock options

* 25 days holiday

* Adzuna Academy training programme

* Cycle to work scheme

* Childcare vouchers

* A positive attitude towards flexible working and parental leave

* A values-based culture

* Company contributory pension scheme

We want a Front-end Developer to help make beautiful things for all devices, screen sizes, and users.

Energy is changing.

For years, it was an industry dominated by large suppliers using outdated systems that put profits first and customers last. Now, we’re using the latest technology and green generation to transform energy for customers, bringing the UK cheaper, greener, and fairer energy.

We enjoy the best of both worlds: backing from a £6bn business of highly experienced and talented individuals, and the dynamic environment of a start-up.

We are the only Which? recommended energy supplier for 2018, the uSwitch supplier of the year, Energy Awards supplier of the year, and UK customer experience award winner for utilities.

You’ll be working for a company that’s fighting climate change. We’re the largest investor in solar generation in the UK, and are funding wind and anaerobic digestion. We’re helping people to use greener technology and renewable energy, all helping move the UK towards a lower carbon future.

And for big change, we need big minds.

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about code, curious, and eager to learn. You’ll be working alongside other talented people in the tech department. You’ll solve problems with technology to make us, and the industry, smarter and better for customers.

You:

• Can write solid, semantic HTML and have experience writing SASS

• Have experience with JavaScript frameworks, particularly the React/Redux stack

• Have experience in crafting mobile-first responsive sites for a range of devices

• Know how to develop websites that meet AAA accessibility guidelines.

• Can create code that works consistently across different browsers and platforms

• Can take Photoshop/Sketch designs and bring them to life in code

• Experience with the Django templating language a plus

Our stack:

• React & Redux

• SASS

• Jest & Enzyme

• jQuery & vanilla JS

• Webpack

• Gulp

• Django/Python (server side and templating)

We’re looking for someone who thrives on solving tough problems. Someone who can challenge those around them, and be challenged, while delivering delightful experiences for our internal and external customers.

[Note: we are open to remote work but only if you can spend a minimum of one day per week in our Belfast office.]

THE ROLE
You’ll be the person responsible for building the front-ends to Opal, a cloud platform to create and manage Structured Documents: documents represented as data, created and managed programatically.

You'll be using JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS to make the user experience sing. We don’t want your typical ugly enterprise app: it has to be elegant, delightful to use, and enticing during a demo.

As well as a magnificent web front-end, you’ll be working with Microsoft’s Office 365 JS API & Office Fabric to build document editing services right into the Word app.

Our clients will generally be financial firms in the world’s leading financial centers, primarily New York City and London. You may need to travel occasionally, but not often.

We don’t care about prior experience in our industry (fintech); frankly we’d love it if you came from a design agency or other non-enterprise background. We want someone to build a wonderful user experience, and you can learn about the business domain while doing so.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
You’ll be doing some or all of the following:

* working with our product manager to refine the UI/UX requirements

* coding the front-end for the web and Office apps

* writing some basic test packs. We won’t go overboard but we aren’t flying by the seat of our pants, either

* in partnership with the CTO, the technical lead, and the rest of your team, defining and implementing standards for how we work: our agile methodology, coding standards, development tools, deployment practices, and more. This is a green field development and we want to use tomorrow’s best practices today.

WHO WE WANT
We are looking for a smart person with initiative and good judgment, who works well with others, and who will always look to balance the urgent needs of clients with the long-term technical architecture for our product.

You need to have:

* excellent verbal and written communication skills

* an eye for good design. You won’t be getting detailed wireframes, so your role will be at least partly that of a designer

* a minimum of three years’ experience using client-side web technologies with a solid knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3, preferably gained from working at a design agency or product company

* experience with ReactJS and knowledge of Node JS and webpack, as well as a unit testing framework such as Jest

* prior experience working in agile

* a pragmatic, get-it-done approach to things developers often don’t like e.g. writing tests, updating documentation, and talking to clients

* a desire to learn new things. For example, we have a Ruby on Rails API, so there is an opportunity for someone who has good front end skills to become a full stack developer.

A degree in Comp Sci or equivalent is great, but it’s not essential. It’s most important that you have good coding & design skills.

Any of these things will help you stand out:

* opinions – preferably grounded in knowledge and experience

* experience on a team that has implemented a good continuous integration strategy (or if not, an awareness of the benefits of these strategies so you can champion them within the role)

* Office 365 JS API experience would be wonderful (we know it’s a bit niche)

* experience with Bootstrap or similar – we’ll be using Office Fabric, a similar library from Microsoft

* working with RESTful API back-end components

* development of a SaaS web product

* experience working within a distributed development model i.e. with people in other locations and time zones. We’ll mostly be Belfast-based, but we may use specialists in other places such as sales engineers in London and New York.

WHAT WE OFFER

Salary is dependent on your experience and skillset. As well as the basics - competitive pay and benefits – we offer work on a greenfield product, in a small startup-like team. We’ll invest so you have good tools to work with and we’ll keep your skills up-to-date with a budget for technical books, training, and the like.

Introduction

We are currently going through a very exciting evolution of our platform. We are moving from a traditional RoR architecture to a modern "single page application", exposing our application as a set of API's consumed by Ember to provide a rich interactive experience.

To date we have migrated our customer facing application to an Ember app, with great success. We are currently working on rebuilding the backend of our platform with the present focus been on our "Point of Sale". We are now looking to add to our team to accelerate the creation and rollout of this change across the remainder of our platform. This covers the CRM, reporting/analytics and configurations aspects of our backend.

To do this we are looking to hire new people to join our team. This person should be able to contribute across the entire development stack. However, we are looking for the new hire to have strong experience in building and rolling out SPAs. Ideally, with experience using Ember to do this.

About Ticketsolve

Ticketsolve is a web based online and box-office ticketing platform. We currently have over 220 clients based throughout UK and Ireland. These clients are a mixture of Theatres, Arts and Music Festivals and specialty offerings such as Ice Skating and Christmas attractions. We are a consistently profitable company with healthy year on year growth. The new features and abilities we are adding to Ticketsolve puts in a place to deliver strong growth in the coming years.

Skills & Requirements

- 3+ years experience developing web applications
- Experience with programming Javascript preferred with role focused on Ember based development. Ruby a huge bonus but good programmers always welcomed as well
- Strong understanding of front-end technologies: JavaScript, HTML5, SASS, Ember preferred
- Strong programming skills with focus on clean design, well refactored code and automated testing
- Comfortable working as part of a remote team
- Related to remote working a working knowledge of English is required

Technologies we use

- Ruby on Rails is our primary server framework evolving towards pure API server
- Ember is our primary front end development framework
- JSONAPI::Resources, http://jsonapi-resources.com/, is how we are building our API’s
- MySQL / Redis / Elastic are our primary storage engines
- All our servers are Ubuntu based managed through CHEF
- Deployed on AWS using terraform for managing infrastructure
- GitHub for source code management and process support
- Travis for continuous integration

How we work

We run a lightweight process that focuses on feature based delivery on a weekly basis. Our co-ordination and communication is largely through daily 'catch-up meetings' and use of appropriate tools such as Trello for backlog management, Slack for communication and Git(GitHub) for source control and feature deployment through PR's and Milestones.

From a coding perspective we place a strong emphasis on clean, minimal, well refactored code backed up by strong suite of automated tests. We make use of peer review for all design and development work.

In general we strive for an approach that empowers and trusts individuals to 'do the right thing' and as a team we try and keep each other true to this.

Remote working

Our development team works as a remote team with members in Berlin, Malmö, Barcelona, Singapore and Taiwan. Our wider organisation has people based in United Kingdom and Dublin. Dublin is our headquarters and only office space - with core Support team and Sales and Marketing team.

Remote working has become part of our company DNA. We believe that it offers a lot of advantages to both Ticketsolve and employees. We expect that our new hires will likely be remote working. This means that you should be comfortable working as part of a remote team. If this is new to you, don't worry, it was for us at the beginning as well. We now have lots of experience helping people settle in - so keep an open mind and imagine a working day with no daily commute.

Important to note that timezones are a consideration for us with remote working. Our experience is that European and Asian time zones are preferable, as it allows for collaboration at reasonable times.

How do you apply?

We are initially looking for resumes and portfolio examples of your work e.g. GitHub repositories, blog articles, etc. If you do not have anything suitable we can provide a problem piece to work together on.

From there we filter down and do a series of remote interviews. These are often 'work' focused i.e. looking at code together, pair programming for example. [Toofr](https://www.toofr.com) is a California LLC that actually owns and operates a few other web properties as well as [Toofr.com](https://www.toofr.com), including [eNPS](https://www.enps.co), [Inlistio](https://www.inlistio.com), [Thinbox](https://www.thinboxapp.com), and [Glist](https://www.glist.io).

Toofr launched in 2013 and has always been profitable. Over the years I have worked with a couple of overseas software developers and contract sales reps, but this is the first time I have posted a job publicly. Toofr began as a side project and I'm now running it full-time and want to begin to grow a small remote team to help me expand the business.

Thus, this job is to help me maintain and expand the market position for all of Toofr's properties. The day-to-day tasks will include but not be limited to:

- Content marketing: writing blog posts, case studies, web pages, and email newsletters.
- Email marketing: running small, targeted email campaigns to acquire new users.
- Influencer marketing: reaching out to other companies to do guest post swaps.
- Partnerships: contact incubators, funds, and other business hubs who might want to promote Toofr and its properties.
- Customer support: As needed (since I actually like doing this), help me with customer emails and phone calls.

Toofr currently is run by one person, me, out of my house in Walnut Creek, California and as such is fully subjected to both my talents and my shortcomings. I'm finding that my shortcomings are in the areas outlined above. That's why I'm hiring.

Experience requirements are flexible. I'm looking more for personality fit with me and a hunger to learn. You should at have least an interest in and desire to learn:

- Marketing, obviously. If you don't love marketing, then you shouldn't apply.
- Great writing, thoughtful analysis, and basic design.
- HTML, CSS, and Sketch or Photoshop software.
- Supporting customers by phone and email with quick and upbeat responses.
- Operations of an independent, profitable internet business.

This job will be entirely remote (Toofr does not and will not have an office) so hours are flexible. I care much more about productivity than time spent. I spend a lot of time with my family and I expect you to have similar commitments!

Initially I expect this job will be part-time, 15-20 hours per week, paid at a competitive rate and can (and should) grow into a full-time position if all goes well.

Please send me an email: ryan@toofr.com, with a short note telling me why you're interested in this job and either your resume or LinkedIn profile. I will personally respond to everyone. Thanks!

## What We Do
Simply put, we make websites easier to use. Through a scientific method of determining which site improvements result in actual performance improvements, we replace the old way of designing sites through gut feel and management opinions with designing sites through data.

If you’re interested in checking out the swell people you’ll be working with, click here to [learn more about the team.](https://crometrics.com/meet-the-team/)

## Our Hiring Process
We’re glad you’re interested in working with us. We have a fairly unusual hiring process, but it has proven to work well both for us and for potential new hires. We have found that demonstrating basic competency is the best predictor of initial qualification for working with us, followed by actual work.
Our process reflects that: below, we outline our values and how we work, and then ask you to complete a small task. Assuming we like your response, we will hire you for a “paid interview” where you start working with us for a small number of hours each week. If both parties like working together, we expand the relationship. If not, we go our separate ways and both sides “won” in the deal!
This short essay sums up the philosophy we operate by: This is Professionalism: http://arches.io/2014/03/this-is-professionalism/

Please read it and if you’re willing to work this way, read on!

_If you have questions as you go through this, make notes and if we haven’t answered them by the end, feel free to email matthew.gossage@crometrics.com, chris@crometrics.com or tom@crometrics.com._
## Our Culture
+ *We’re a remote company.* We are spread out all over the country and enjoy the flexibility remote working affords. Want to go on a mountain bike ride in the middle of the day? Cool, don’t forget your helmet! Need to pick the kids up from school? Nice, you’ve got parent of the year in the bag. We stay connected through Slack and workcations, including one annual trip that is partially funded by the company.
+ *We value elegant code as much as you do, but we move fast.* We’re writing code that runs _on top of_ existing websites. Some tests only run for a few days before disappearing (though some do so well they become a permanent part of the client’s site). There will be polling patterns and liberal use of `!important`.
+ *Again, we’re a remote company.* That makes communication — including writing and reading comprehension — _extremely_ important. You’ll work closely with product managers, designers and writers. This is not a simple “pull tickets and check in code” gig. Successful applicants enjoy the process of defining and clarifying specs, documenting processes, _improving_ processes, and uploading custom emoji to Slack.

Description

We are a cutting edge team working with startups and big companies. We are helping create complex applications and web solutions. Those applications might be challenging, as they are the core of our customer’s business, but with our help anything is possible. We use JIRA and do sprints with Aurity team members and customers. You will work remotely from home, or place that suits you best. You will decide yourself when you want to start and finish your working day as long as you are on top of your job and participate in crucial meetings. Remote work will help you create better work-life balance, give more freedom and save time usually wasted on daily commute to work. We regularly talk and support each other via Skype, Zoom and other apps. Inside the company, we use Slack, Jira, Asana, and plenty of Google Tools.

Requirements
Working in Aurity is great if you like to keep on learning, using latest tools and technologies. Right now we focus on React, React Native, Relay, Redux and GraphQL. We are looking for keen to work, talented and professional developers seeking a new challenge with at least 6 months of experience in React to feel comfortable. Involvement in remote work is also very important, as this is different from a traditional job in the office. If you will have any difficulties we are always ready to help. Effective teamwork is an important aspect of our company.

Benefits
Of course, there are other attractions, like #hackerhouse that we arrange every 6-8 months. You can join the team there, have some fun and work (we make sure, the internet connection is very good). You will also have an opportunity to join internal workshops.
If you know something cool, that others might want to learn, you could also lead one of them. We are open for new projects and happy to help reach your goals.
Just check out our video from latest trip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw_zZ40gGUE

If you think we share similar values and mindset, you are most welcome to apply and become part of our team.

IDF seeks a Senior Front-End Developer to shape the future of design education
The Interaction Design Foundation is the world's most prestigious community and course platform for user experience designers. We are a nonprofit organization with a mission to reduce the cost of design education around the world, and we do so by providing high-quality online UX design courses at an affordable membership fee. With tens of thousands of members learning from our courses, and hundreds of thousands reading our free educational materials, we’re one of the largest UX design communities around the world.

We've spent the last 15 years building our community, and the last year rebuilding our course platform—based on a brilliant technology stack. And now we want you to help us build pure awesomeness in versions 7, 8, 9, etc.! If you're a senior front-end developer with sublime programming skills acquired from 5+ years of experience, we’d like to work with you.

This is a paid full-time position. You'll be location independent and will therefore be free to work from wherever you want in the world. You will have regular video-based contact with your colleagues and will get to meet them physically on team trips (see below).

Why you’ll want to join us:

* You get to work in an international team where we truly and deeply care about great architecture, great code, great documentation, great tests, etc.
* We love our codebase and that’s why we have zero tolerance for spaghetti code and technical debt. Code should be so well-crafted that you want to kiss the screen.
* You will have uninterrupted concentration time every day to build pure front-end awesomeness and thus accelerate your learning curve. If you were to work at Facebook or Google, you would be constantly interrupted and only have 2 hours of uninterrupted “flow time” per day. That creates a slow learning curve. Working with us, you get a full 7 hours per day. Imagine what that will do to your mental muscles, to your learning and to your career.
* You will help shape the future of design education which millions of people can benefit from.
* You will work with the best developers and designers in the world. And learn from them.
* You will have the ability to work from anywhere — as long as your internet connection allows you to have video-based contact with your colleagues every day.
* You get to work with true perfectionists! The development team is a small, senior, and highly-powered team of 7 people: 4 developers, a visual/UX designer, a software tester/QA, and a product owner. They also get input/help from an additional 4 people – as well as from our community of tens of thousands of designers and front-enders who love to provide feedback. You can learn enormous amounts.
* You get to meet up with the rest of the team several times a year at interesting destinations like a scenic Thai island, Dubai, Denmark, or the like. See the video about our company culture for more.
* We have a focus on evergreen programming techniques and best practices, as opposed to the latest hyped framework. We’d rather hand-craft things ourselves than build our platform on a gazillion 3rd party libraries. Just ask Facebook: they know it sucks.
* Our CEO is a programmer and you will therefore not have to worry about “management speak” in order to get your point across. Just let your awesome code “speak for itself” and you will earn respect immediately!

What you will be doing:

* You will take ownership and leadership of an ever-growing front end codebase where elegance and simplicity must be maintained and furthered – and where the evil forces entropy, bloat, and spaghetti must be fought back by your intellect and coding skills.
* Helping us to build an online course that will teach millions of designers how to become front-end developers. This will hugely improve your skills and ability to communicate - and will prove to be an awesome challenge!
* Helping us to build an online course for our members on the topic of Design Systems – bringing Front End Development together with UI/UX Design.
* Creating animations that are not only beautiful, but meaningful and are features that add to the UX of our users.
* Building upon our current front end style guide and coding guides, which let our back end developers use front end components with ease. You will build a “design system” that is extremely detailed yet also easy to navigate and use.... much like https://polaris.shopify.com/

About you:

* You love to learn and push your skills to new levels.
* You have 5+ years of experience working professionally with OO + MVC (preferably web technologies).
* You have an understanding of basic programming patterns and principles as well as a strong sense of good engineering and architecture.
* You want to help us take our educational platform to the next level with front-end awesomeness: Animations, interactivity, social features, data-driven design, a better mobile version, "little big details", and much more.
* You want to help build a rock-solid and perfectly architected and documented front-end codebase.
* You are truly ambitious, result-oriented, friendly, and you like to continually improve.
* You are self-motivated and love to see tangible results.
* You speak and write acceptable English – not perfect English, just acceptable – since you will be working with people from Turkey, England, Denmark, Russia and Brazil, among others.
* It’s a plus if you have an experience with Typescript/Flow, any JS framework, and/or PWA.
* It’s a big plus if you have contributed to open source.
* It's a big plus if you have worked professionally with at least one statically typed programming language like C, C++, Java, etc.

About the technology stack
We believe we have an awesome technology stack and a great (and agile) development process to back that up (Scrum). You don’t have to be an expert in all of these things. The most important things are your programming skills and extensive experience from other projects.

The technology stack is currently:

* Modern JS stack: ES6, Babel, JS modules, module bundling.
* BEM/ITCSS as our CSS methodology for modular, reusable, and very well structured code.
* We support only modern browsers (IE11+).
* A clean separation between front-end and back-end code.
* PHP 7.1 where we use all the newest language features like type declarations.
* A framework which has an incredible community support. The name of the framework is not important since we are technology agnostic.
* MySQL 5.7 configured for the highest performance; Redis for our caching needs.
* One of the best content delivery networks with tons of delivery points all over the world for lightning fast pages.
* Nginx with HTTP2 enabled - and thus the ability to architect your JS code more flexibly because of the architecture of the HTTP2 protocol
* Git and GitHub using gitflow.
* Vagrant (with VirtualBox) and seamless CI and deployment infrastructure.
* …and well… lots more!

Want to join our team? Here is how!
Please send an email to Rikke Friis Dam at rikke.friis.dam@interaction-design.org with the following:

* Screener question: Please tell us why you want to put your heart, mind and hard work into this job.
* Screener question: Tell us the 3 productivity tips/methods that work best for you.
* A personal job application

Apply as soon as you can – we’re firm believers of “the sooner, the better”. We’re looking forward to working with you!

When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. That is a scam! Always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. Remote OK accepts no liability or responsibility as a consequence of any reliance upon information on there (external sites) or here.

Basics of the front-end developer position:
+ You’d be developing custom WordPress sites. We believe in coding custom sites from scratch and we hope you do too.
+ You’d be in charge of technical support tickets as they come into Teamwork. Delegation, client communication, and team support are key aspects of this responsibility.
+ You’d be communicating with the team regularly. We use Slack for regular communication and Basecamp for project management. There are occasionally some video chats we’ll need to do either via video chat.

JOB BENEFITS:
+ You can work from anywhere. No moving for a job involved. If you’re happy where you are, stay there. If you’re unhappy, move somewhere new. This job will go with you.
+ You decide what you want your hours to be for projects. For technical support, we can discuss what time would be best for that support work. You will need to communicate with the team regularly.
+ You get paid on a per project basis for full-scale projects and hourly for technical support work.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
You should have a solid understanding of WordPress, SASS, CSS, PHP and Javascript. You should have experience coding WordPress themes, from scratch. If you’re familiar with Shopify, even better as we do have some simple projects coming up for that platform.

Other skills:
+ You know how to work with Woocommerce.
+ You’ve used Advanced Custom Fields before (we use this on many projects).
+ You understand how to work with cPanels, update databases directly, and are confident migrating + websites to new hosts.
You can troubleshoot when a site has been hacked or simply been broken by a client who has gone too far in code.

This job IS for you if:
+ You believe the best code is clean, simple, and well-organized.
+ You are detailed oriented and meticulous. You get letter spacing, fonts, and column widths right. And you’ll even make sure the site ends up with custom favicon.
+ You get projects done on time (or early).
+ You are honest and have no tolerance for drama.
+ You like working on projects for soulful and creative entrepreneurs.
+ You can handle a workload of at least 1-2 custom projects per month. Projects vary in length, taking anywhere between 10 and 30 hours (for a skilled developer), with some larger ones taking longer.
+ You are comfortable using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to gather information from designs for development.
+ You can commit to the position for at least nine months.

Our ideal candidate is a developer who has an exacting aesthetic eye and the ability to make things so intuitive that the non savvy user can feel comfortable editing.

This job IS NOT for you if:
+ You are repeatedly late getting work done.
+ You dislike or have problems with regular communication.
+ You prefer to start out with a pre-made theme with page builders for website development.
+ You often miss details.
+ You think that a 28px margin is the same thing as a 25px margin. Or that Helvetica is the same thing as Open Sans.

Most projects last between 2 and 5 weeks, depending upon the size of the project and the client feedback process.

We're looking for an awesome frontend js dev who knows about drawing in a browser.
Sounds like you? Read on!

** Note** No agencies/companies/recruiters! we are looking for, and will only respond to individuals who match the below description.

#Seats.io
We are a small team of 3 people building an awesome product - reserved seating tools for online ticketing - that grew from a hobby project to a healthy B2B startup with customers all over the globe. Our interactive floor plans are used to book over 500k seats / month.
We don't do architecture and project management and we don't blame.
We do celebrate wins (even small ones), we take responsibility as a team, and we focus on building.
In short, we are product builders pur sang. Needless to say that your role will be key to our continued success.
#The job
Time for specifics. Your role would be to help design, build and implement the floor plan designer, as part of the seats.io dev team. That means you'll build stuff that matters.
The current stack is mostly raphaeljs + our own code, but we're open to change. We do expect your expert input there.
Other than that, we firmly believe in the benefits of TDD, use git, feature branches and CI, and expect you to as well. That's unless you're able to convince the team to change, as nothing is set in stone.
If you happen to live near the beautiful village of Landen (Belgium) that's awesome. However, we are aware that's a very long shot, so remote is perfectly fine.
Please do note we'll only consider candidates who are less than 2 hours time zone difference away from Europe/Brussels, send us a picture of Darth Vader with their application - just so we know you read this -, and have previous experience with working remotely.
This is a full-time position, but we're flexible.
Compensation (salary/rate) tbd.
#You
- have killer client-side javascript development skills for desktop & mobile.
- can programatically draw in a browser (canvas and/or SVG).
- have experience using clientside MV* frameworks (take your pick).
- have experience with TDD
- have an eye for detail, and one for beauty
- can detect code smells from a mile away
- have an opinion. We value - and expect! - your thoughts & input.
- are focused, courageous, open, committed and respectful. Recognize these? :)
- are fluent in English
- are located in Europe/Brussels +/- 2 hours.

### Overview

CollegeVine is looking for a product-focused front-end developer to help engineer the future of guidance, mentorship, and higher education attainment.

There aren't many industries left that haven't been significantly disrupted by technology in some way, but you're reading about one right here! Public high school guidance departments are under-resourced in our country and we think near-peer mentorship is the solution. As it stands, the current admissions process is a huge source of stress and confusion for students and parents alike. If we execute correctly, your work will impact the entire next generation of college graduates-to-be.

You will join a fast-moving company whose culture centers around authenticity, excellence, and balance. You'll find that everyone likes to keep things simple and transparent. We prefer to be goal-oriented and hands-off as long as you are a self-starter.

Our modern perspective on developer potential means we celebrate and optimize for real output. And that's probably the reason why we're a polyglot functional programming shop, with emphasis on Haskell, PureScript, and functional paradigms. Our infrastructure and non-mission-critical tooling tends to be in whatever works best for the task at hand: sometimes that's Haskell with advanced GHC extensions a-blazin', other times it's minimalist Ruby or bash—basically, it's a team decision based on whatever sits at the intersection of appropriateness, developer joy, quality, and velocity.

### Requirements

You know you are right for this position if:

* You have at least five years of professional software engineering experience, and at least two years of preference for a high-level programming language that's used in industry, like Haskell, Clojure, OCaml, Erlang, F#, or similar.
* You have front-end experience with JS or a functional language that compiles to JS, like PureScript, Elm, Clojurescript, or similar. We use PureScript, React, and ES6 on the front-end in a fairly seamless way. It's pretty awesome.
* You seek ownership beyond your own work, and look to the product and company as a whole.
* You are a self-starter and internally motivated, with a strong desire to be part of a successful team that shares your high standards.
* You have great written communication skills and are comfortable with making big decisions over digital presence (e.g. video chat).
* You have polyglot experience along several axes (dynamic/static, imperative/functional, lazy/strict, weird/not-weird).
* You are comfortable with modern infrastructure essentials like AWS, Heroku, Docker, CI, etc. You have basic but passable sysadmin skills.
* You are fluent with git.
* You instrument before you optimize. You test before you ship. You listen before you conclude. You measure before you cut. Twice.

### Benefits

We offer a competitive salary and a full suite of benefits, some of them unconventional, but awesome for the right person:

* Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
* Flexible hours with a 4-hour core - plan the rest of your workday as you wish, just give us the majority of your most creative hours. Productivity ideas: avoid traffic, never wait in line at the grocery store, wake up without an alarm clock.
* Goal-based environment (as opposed to grind-based or decree-based environment; work smarter, not harder; intelligently, not mindlessly). We collaborate on setting goals, but you set your own process for accomplishing those goals. You will be entrusted with a lot of responsibility and you might even experience fulfillment and self-actualization as a result.
* Join an engineering culture that celebrates mindfulness and takes the quality of your attention seriously.

Remember: We’re a startup. You’re an early employee. We face challenges. We have to ship. Your ideas matter. You will make a difference.

# Our Product

We are building an address book for the 21st century. Digital address books are broken. Just like old paper versions, in 2017 everyone still manages their own contact list. When friends change their numbers, you have to update them on your phone. When you change your phone number you have to manually tell everyone. If you are travelling and have a temporary SIM card you may be uncontactable. If you're like us, you have lots of numbers in your address book and can't remember exactly who they belong to. You have no idea who has your contact information.

# About Us

We are a stealth mode startup working on solving these problems. Our aim is to launch our first product in the summer of 2017. We are funded by a successful serial entrepreneur. We are working remotely with team members based in Cambridge, UK and Berlin, Germany.

# The Role

You will join our team as our first Product Designer. You will take the lead in crafting the user experience, working collaboratively with the rest of the team to deliver a quality product.

This is a remote role, and you will need to be available during European working hours. There may be some occasional travel to London. Initially this role is a contract/freelance position, with the possibility of becoming full time later this year. We are open to candidates who can work between 3 and 5 days per week.

# What We're Looking For

* A proven track record of user interface design, across a number of products that have been used by different demographics
* Experience with prototyping and taking a product from the idea stage through to launch and beyond
* Experience working with agile methodologies and collaborating with a software development team to release regularly and iterate on your designs
* Ability to take the product's mission, user research and analytics data and translate into clear, simple UIs
* Tenacity and the willingness to change your design based on learnings from real users
* Strong knowledge of current UX best practices, including user research and accessibility across mobile and web

__About Collage.com__
Collage.com's mission is to make custom products easy for everyone. We strive to do this by providing superior software and excellent customer service. Collage.com is a 100% employee-owned, profitable, bootstrapped company with about 50 employees that has rapidly grown from $0 to $25 million in annual revenue since 2013. We sell an expanding variety of photo and home products, including photo blankets, photo books, canvases, pillows, and more. Collage.com has appeared more than a dozen times on ABC's "Good Morning America" and three times on "The View." We've also appeared multiple times on the "TODAY Show," along with mentions in BuzzFeed, Mashable, AARP: The Magazine, the Associated Press, and more. We are seeking ambitious, nice individuals to join us in our quest to bring great custom products to the world.
Our development team is set up to empower individuals. The less time you spend dealing with cumbersome processes and inefficient systems, the more time you have to solve problems and make an impact. We believe in staying at the forefront of best practices so that we can focus on work that matters. We pass almost all of The Joel Test (we only fix high-priority bugs before writing new code, but hey, we're a start-up), follow the best practices for continuous deployment (anything that is merged following a pull request goes straight to production), and have implemented a declarative unidirectional data flow system (like Flux, but on steroids) for our most complex logic. Difficult projects with extensive cascading data dependencies take days instead of months, allowing us to provide best-in-class design tools and iterate more quickly than our competitors with much larger development teams. [Learn more about developing software at Collage.com.](http://jobs.collage.com)
__We're 100% Remote__
Collage.com is a 100% remote company, with employees working together in states across the country. Last year, our remote work culture was [profiled in a case study by the Harvard Business School](http://www.hbs.edu/faculty/Pages/item.aspx?num=51578) (we are the first all-remote company they profiled). The entire company meets together in person twice a year in Ann Arbor, Michigan (all expenses paid) to get to know each other and work on strategy. What you'll do

You'll collaborate to build, maintain and streamline the client-facing part of our large application. Among other responsibilities, you'll get to design animations and widgets, implement core third-party plugins, optimize our mobile application, and refine and redesign our search functionality. You'll have both the opportunity and the independence to tackle all kinds of challenges: some days you'll work on refactoring a legacy part of the app to make it do something new, and on others, you'll build a brand new, greenfield feature.

You

You can write clean, maintainable javascript, and if you're not familiar with Ruby/Rails, you are ready to learn. You are excited to improve our website to better serve customers. You're comfortable refactoring existing code in the interest of readability and performance. You have a willingness and capability to pick up and evaluate new technologies. When you get ready to take on a new feature, you break it down into smaller releases. You communicate and collaborate with the whole team, be it to work through tough code problems or clarify product specifications.

Us

* We're a small team focused on opening up the old school real estate world.
* Our goal is to build the best place for people to browse, shop for, and buy homes.
* We employ an iterative approach to building products and deploy multiple times a day.
* We have a big vision.
* We believe in hiring smart people and giving them the support and flexibility to succeed.
* If you work locally, you'll be in a relaxed and fun office in the Belltown neighborhood.

We're looking to hire the best people wherever they are in the world. If you don't want to relocate to beautiful Seattle, you should be awesome at working from home and available to join our daily stand-up at 10am Pacific. We have a few devs in Europe, a few in Argentina and several more based out of Seattle. We've had remote developers since 2011, and are seasoned veterans of working with a distributed team, across multiple time zones.

MapD is seeking an experienced software developer to add to its fast-growing Front End engineering team. This team works on delivering features and fixes at a rapid pace into an enterprise environment. We are seeking someone with a deep understanding of Javascript and prefer previous experience using React/Redux.

We’re big fans of hiring people who are not just great at what they do but also how they do it. Critical to our culture is building and maintaining a team that works well together and knows how to communicate effectively - not just within their own team, but also across peripheral teams.

We don’t believe in divas or rock stars. We are looking for someone who embodies the best parts of open-source culture: Humility, open-mindedness, positivity, and respect for others. A developer who doesn’t try to single-handedly save the day but embraces input and collaboration as a means to find the best solution.

Your success in this role will be predicated on your ability to prioritize your work, be self-motivated and a self-starter, to speak up early and often, and to work well with others. You should be passionate about building great software, and about building a product that is slated to revolutionize the world of data analytics across multiple industries. We’re great at encouraging our people to learn different technologies, continue their professional growth, and try out new ways of doing things. We’re in it for the long-haul, and you should be too.

Our office is located in downtown San Francisco, and this position will report to the Director of Development. While our preference is to hire local employees, we will also consider exceptional candidates for remote work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Build out features for Immerse, MapD’s award-winning data visualization platform.

* Conscientious development: Write unit and end-to-end tests, along with thorough documentation and code commentary.

* Competent estimation: Allocate/estimate time required to not only complete a feature, but also build in quality, unit test, regression test, and document the feature with cross-functional team.

* Bolster your team: Provide peer review, write performant and reusable code, follow and help define code style.

* Support peripheral teams: Product, QA, and Technical Writers are helping to make our product as robust as possible. When appropriate, developers should flesh out User Stories with any whiteboard images, mockups, short description docs, acceptance criteria, and other artifacts they have to help the entire team to understand the features under development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* 5 years minimum of overall professional work experience as a developer (2+ years React/Redux production experience, or a combination of either of these with several years of Javascript or equivalent framework)

* Working knowledge of SQL

* Previous experience working with typical Agile development workflows and working in sprints

* Willingness to work on existing codebase without insisting on reinventing the wheel

* Willingness and ability to prioritize working on current code and staying focused with the task(s) on hand for the purpose of meeting deadlines and project deliverables

* Previous experience and comfort level collaborating and communicating in real-time using asynchronous tools (Slack, Github, etc.)

* Proven previous experience solving complex challenges of architecture, user interactions, and data flow and management in a large, data-driven enterprise application with several cross-cutting concerns

* Proven experience communicating with diplomacy and respect. Ego and attitude should be checked at the door

* Ability to collaborate with empathy and positive intent

 BONUS POINTS:

* Examples of coding projects on Github or other publicly available repositories

* Experience with D3 or other visual analytics frameworks

* Experience with geospatial visualizations (Mapbox, Mapboxgl, Leaflet, PostGIS, D3 geo)

* Experience shipping and supporting enterprise code

* Involvement in open source projects and/or passion projects
