\nThe Blackboard Cloud Services has a proven track record of delivering exceptional services to over fifteen hundred clients around the globe. We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and detail-oriented Senior DevOps Database Administrator to develop processes and tools for automating our database administration tasks in AWS and OpenStack environments. Our team is responsible for maintaining over 3,000 Oracle and PostgreSQL databases in production, development, testing, and staging environments in many different data centers around the globe.\n\nPOSITION RESPONSIBILITIES\n\n* Develop RESTful APIs using Ruby on Rails for automating database administration tasks such as installing, configuring, backing up, restoring, replicating, upgrading, patching, cloning, tuning, migrating, monitoring, and so on.\n\n* Develop Ruby and Python libraries that can be used in our web applications, Chef cookbooks, and other automation tools.\n\n* Creating Chef cookbooks for automating the database installation and configuration processes.\n\n* Creating jobs and pipelines using Jenkins for provisioning the entire application stack (Linux server, database server, tomcat server, load balancer, etc) on AWS and OpenStack.\n\n* Develop Linux packages and services for distributing and running database administration tools.\n\n* Create Linux images for provisioning database servers in AWS and OpenStack environments.\n\n* Develop and document processes, methods, procedures, and tools for diagnosing and fixing known bugs & problems, for improving efficiency, and for performing common tasks.\n\n* Analyze changes in each new database version release, hot fix, or service pack and update the existing documents, processes, methods, procedures, and tools to work with these changes.\n\n* Collaborate with other teams on efforts to improve database performance, stability, and availability.\n\n* Install, setup, and configure third party tools for collecting, monitoring, analyzing data on database performance and stability.\n\n* Prepare, document, and conduct training sessions for DBA team members.\n\n* Work independently or with very little supervision on all DBA tasks and projects.\n\n* Assist the manager in addressing complex database administration issues.\n\n* Provide technical expertise, advice, and support to junior database administrators.\n\n* Take ownership of database projects and define tasks that can be assigned to other database team members.\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
