We feel that anyone needs to be in the position to comment on absolutely anything, regardless of their role within the company.\n\nRight now, we want to add a talented Core JVM and Systems Engineer to join our Elasticsearch team and focusing on the core infrastructure of Elasticsearch.\n\nWhat you will be doing\n\n\n* Evolving the core infrastructure for Elasticsearch (e.g., the networking layer)\n\n* Optimizing internal data structures used within Elasticsearch\n\n* Develop new user-facing features\n\n* Investigate performance and concurrency issues\n\n* Collaborating in open source with the ES team and the Elastic Stack users\n\n* Supporting our support engineers with the harder problems\n\n\n\n\nWhat you will bring along\n\n\n* Strong on Java in general\n\n* Solid understanding of JVM internals including garbage collection, the memory model, etc.\n\n* Follows the JDK mailing list\n\n* Knowledge of internals of operating systems (including how filesystems and networks work)\n\n\n\n\nPlus ideally\n\n\n* Experience deploying and operationalizing software in production\n\n* Knowledge of packaging (like RPM / Debian)\n\n* Strong shell skills\n\n* Build system experience (e.g., Gradle)\n\n\n\n\nAdditional Information\n\n\n* Competitive pay and benefits\n\n* Stock options\n\n* Catered lunches, snacks, and beverages in most offices\n\n* An environment in which you can balance great work with a great life\n\n* Passionate people building great products\n\n* Employees with a wide variety of interests\n\n* Your age is only a number.
