\nGlobal Merchant Services Merchant Financing is seeking a Senior Software Engineer UI/UX. We are looking for a user experience professional with strong interests and capabilities in the design and development of engaging user experiences. With a thorough understanding of contemporary user-centered design, the candidate will act as an owner in the development of the Merchant Finance Platform using best in class Web technologies. \n\n\n\nJob Responsibilities: \n\nServing as a core member of an agile team that drives user story analysis and elaboration, designs and develops software applications, and builds automation tools for testing. \n\nOwning all technical aspects of UI development for assigned applications; Performing hands-on architecture, design, and development of systems \n\nPerforming hands-on software and strategy development, typically spending about 50% of time actually writing code, conducting code reviews and testing in ongoing sprints, doing proof of concepts \n\nDriving consistent development practices - tools and common components; Developing deep understanding of tie-ins with other systems and platforms within the supported domains \n\nWorking with technical product managers contributing to blueprints, and assisting with annual planning of feature sets \n\nIdentifying exciting opportunities for adopting new technology to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges \n\nMentoring other Software Engineers, may have management responsibilities over 2-3 Software Engineers \n\nManage your own time, and work well both independently and as part of a team. \n\nWork closely with product managers, back-end and other front-end engineers to implement versatile solutions to tricky web development problems \n\nQuickly generate and updating HTML prototypes from UI concepts for testing and team feedback \n\nFinalizing HTML prototypes into Web Applications by integrating with back-end services and functionality \n\nEmbrace emerging standards while promoting best practices in order to push the limits of what a browser can do. \n\nWorking closely with UX/Visual Designers to translate visual and functional specifications to customer-facing experiences. \n\nBuild with future product and technical vision in mind to streamline the iterative release process. \n\n\nOffer of employment with American Express is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background verification check, subject to applicable laws and regulations.\nQualifications\n\n\n7+ years of software development experience and preferably a BS or MS degree in computer science, computer engineering or other technical discipline \n\nDemonstrated experience in Agile development, application design, software development, and testing \n\nThorough understanding of XML, JSON, Web Service technologies (including REST \n\nExperience with Java applications design and development in an Enterprise setting using J2EE, Spring, SQL DBMSs desired \n\nExperience in building websites with responsive web design using Twitter Bootstrap 3.+ (Material Design a plus) \n\nExperience with Web Frameworks (MEAN stack), HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Software Version Control Systems (such as svn, git) required \n\nExperience with JavaScript Libraries (such as jQuery, GWT, Dojo, AngularJS, React), Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, Google+) APIs, Search Engine Optimization, Web Page Optimization strategies desired Experience with adaptive and responsive techniques \n\nInternationalization (I18N) and Localization (L10N) experience is a plus \n\nExpertise in Objected Oriented Analysis and Design across a variety of platforms \n\nA proven hunger to learn new technologies and translate them into working software\n\nAbility to effectively communicate to internal and external business partners on solution design \n\nExperience with a broad range of software languages and payments technologies is a plus\n\nExperience working with Visual designers and an understanding of the user-centric design process \n\nA passion for creating pixel-perfect and streamlined user experiences with supreme attention to detail \n\nFamiliarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) is a plus American Express is an equal opportunity employer and makes employment decisions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, protected veteran status, disability status, or any other status protected by law.
