**Overview**\n\nThe Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the nation's most effective environmental action organization. We use law, science and the support of 3.1 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all living things. NRDC was founded in 1970 and our staff helped write some of America's bedrock environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act, and many of the implementing regulations; our water enforcement cases played a major role shaping current water policy throughout the country. Today, our staff of more than 500 lawyers, scientists, economists, policy and communications experts, and others, work out of offices in New York, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Bozeman, Montana, and Beijing.\n\n**Position Summary**\n\nWe are seeking a creative and experienced individual to join the NRDC Digital Technology Team and help build websites, web applications, and hybrid mobile apps for both NRDC and its 501(c)(4) affiliate, the NRDC Action Fund. The position reports to the Digital Technology Director and will be located in New York, but we will consider another U.S. location.\n\nYou should possess a strong technical knowledge of front end systems, working with APIs, and JavaScript programing. Responsibilities include but are not limited to implementation, testing, reporting, documentation, deployment and debugging code.\n\nWe're looking for a professional who has proven front end web development experience building websites from the ground up with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Experience working with Rest APIs or GraphQL is a must. Examples of completed themes for Drupal, WordPress, or similar systems is a plus. We value strong interpersonal skills, empathy for others, the ability to work strongly in a team, a desire to help the mission of NRDC and a knack for describing technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.\n\n# Responsibilities\n * Build websites using Drupal, WordPress, Gatsby, and other possible CMS or Static Site Generators.\n* Build working static prototypes from Invision wireframes using the Bootstrap framework or similar and the NRDC design system.\n* Administer bug fixes and features to front end code across NRDC web properties.\n* Provide input on the best coding techniques or technology enhancements that can make our workflow and output more efficient.\n* Oversee code reviews of vendor work for standards compliance and efficiency of front end work. \n\n# Requirements\n**Qualifications**\n\n* Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.\n* Minimum 3 years of experience in front-end development.\n* Strong understanding of the web design and development process.\n* Strong experience managing multiple web projects at one time and meeting deadlines consistently.\n* Strong verbal and written communication skills.\n* Ability to produce quality code but also an understanding that perfection is the enemy of progress.\n* Detail-oriented and organized.\n* Experience working within waterfall and/or agile project management.\n* Ability to meet deadlines, handle and prioritize multiple simultaneous requests, manage laterally and upwards, all with a professional and courteous attitude.\n* Ability to identify and implement process and policy improvements.\n* Experience developing Mobile first Responsive UI design.\n* Experience with Bootstrap framework, SCSS and mix-ins.\n* Experience with Gulp and/or Webpack.\n* Working knowledge of RESTful web services and using APIs to create custom web applications.\n* Experience developing for modern web browsers and devices.\n* Comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment, as well as external vendors.\n* Exhibit passion, creativity and commitment.\n\n**Desired Experience**\n\nPriority will be given to candidates with a combination of some of the following expertise:\n\n* Expert knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript\n* Understanding of PHP in CMS like WordPress and Drupal\n* Experience with Angular, Vue, React, Node or similar JavaScript framework\n* Experience with SQL and ability to run queries, administer with Sequel Pro or similar application.\n* Experience working with Action Kit or similar platform.\n* Agency or non-profit experience preferred.\n* Familiarity with Scrum. \n\n#Location\n- 🇺🇸US-only

If you have a soft spot for bootstrapped, profitable companies with a meaningful product, and you want to use your frontend development skills for good, you’ll like this.\n \n\nAbout us:\n\nDrops’ goal is to turn language learning into a delightful game while ensuring effective learning. We teach 31 languages, was featured by both the App Store and Play Store multiple times - and received the “Best of 2018” title this year! - and the company is still run by the founders. We are a small, super-capable remote team mainly spread across Europe. We’re working synchronously, so time zones matter for us. We communicate via Slack, Github and have releases multiple times a week.\nWe want to be the #1 app for vocabulary learning and we are getting there quickly with our current user base of 9 million, a monthly active of >1,000,000 and an average store rating of 4.7.\nYou can find us here: https://languagedrops.com\n \n\nAbout you:\n\nYou’ll be responsible for establishing Drops on the web, from a technical perspective. This means a lot of ownership, which we cultivate by having a flat structure.\n\nYou’re a no-nonsense person, who is comfortable taking on and managing multiple different projects at the same time, who has been working in working at a product company and has extensive front-end development experience.\n\nYou have been working with React for years, have deep knowledge of everything that’s happening in the browser and looking for challenges in growing a product from tens of thousands to millions of visitors per month.\n\nYou strongly prefer static typing over dynamic languages, and use every opportunity to transform code that doesn’t use types into code that does. You generally prefer to use a minimal set of simple tools to a diverse range of complex ones.\n\nWe’ve built our mobile app with react-native, so we can easily port it to the web and start sharing most of our code - and the challenges that this brings are of your interest.\n\nYou like to have a variety of projects - at this job, you’ll be developing a complex web app, a static site generator (gatsby), and even sometimes helping out on our marketing website, that’s being re-built with webflow. \n\nWe want everyone to see the big picture: this means you already pushed your boundaries outside of “being a developer” and are knowledgeable about web product growth frameworks, SEO, best practices regarding retention and monetization.\n\nWe’re building a small, but super capable team. You’re naturally more interested in the fate of the product & driven to grow professionally, than in managing people.\n\nWe value clear and honest communication and transparency, it’s the linchpin of our culture and current success and freedom. You will be involved in both high and low level decision making and will be available during European working hours (9AM - 6PM GMT).\n\nWe are looking for a missionary rather than a mercenary.\n\n\n# Responsibilities\n You will:\n* Work cross functionally with our designer / data analyst / backend developer / project owner to define, scope, estimate and plan various aspects of the product.\n* Work independently and with other engineers to develop new web experiences.\n* Support of production applications / sites that you’ve built or helped to build.\n* Communicate effectively and often to ensure that everyone is aligned. \n\n# Requirements\nYou have:\n* At least 4 years of experience in building web products.\n* At least 2 years of experience in building with React.\n* Experience in architecting and developing web apps and programmatically generated sites (static site generators, like gatsby) with with thousands of pages.\n* Experience in understanding basic funnels, and collaborating with support to resolve user-facing issues.\n* Strong understanding of SEO, and experience in optimising websites for Google.\n* Project management experience (everyone is managing projects at Drops).\n* Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well cross-functionally.\n* Experienced in strongly typed languages, and/or Typescript/Flow.\n

Zeige uns, was du getan hast.

\nInitial short term remote contract position for an experienced front end developer that can hit the ground running with React, Redux, and Recompose.  We have an urgent need to bring on someone to help us get a product delivery across the finish line.  There would be a potential for additional and ongoing work. \n\nYou'd be part of one of a handful of teams that are all working together to build a large video on demand application.  Think Netflix but with additional features.  Initial engagement of ~2-3 months starting ASAP.  We don't care where you live, but you'd be expected to work as part of a team in a collaborative fashion (scrum ceremonies, peer code review, slack, etc.), speak English fluently, and work within at least 6 hours overlapping 9-5 US EST .

\nJoin us and become a part of history as together we change the face of e-commerce for digital content and preserve the ability of authors to earn a living writing. We are looking for a smart, creative front web developer with a strong design sense to complement the existing team. \n\nThis role will complement the rest of the founding team who has already built the back-end infrastructure and first beta version of the website. As we prepare to come out of beta and traffic is climbing, we now need an updated UI to match.\n\nThe current beta site has been developed in Ruby-on-Rails. We are migrating the core code to Elixir / Phoenix. We're looking to move to a ReactJS front end for the main UI, sporting responsive design and to share code with our parallel React Native app development efforts.\n\nHighlights\n\n\n* Get in on the ground floor and become an owner of a new, industry-transforming company.\n\n* Consult with former kayak.com founding employee & Chief Architect Bill O'Donnell, who is a technical advisor to the company.\n\n* Create your own solutions to challenging technical problems.\n\n* Choose the tools that will be used by you and your colleagues.\n\n* Lead and build the look and feel of an upcoming major e-commerce site.\n\n* Make mistakes, disrupt the status quo, and help us create the engineering culture that you would like -- build your own dream job!\n\n\n\n\nIf hired, you will receive a hefty equity grant relative to the position. You will also earn direct payment in the form of a revenue share on every dollar in revenue we generate directly and across our  1,000+ distribution partners. Your pay will increase as our gross revenue increases, until those rev-share pay levels reach your target salary.\n\nWe are located in the growing Lebanon/Hanover, NH tech region around Dartmouth and the Lebanon airport, but during our launch phase, we expect candidates to work from home, wherever that may be. We will pay for relocation, should that become necessary in the future.\n\nPart Time / Full Time\n\nWe're looking for someone who ultimately wants a full time position with us, but if you need a transitional period working for Scribl part time while you continue to do other work, we fully support that. \n\nSkills & Requirements\n\nNOTE: Your cover letter matters to us, maybe more than your resume! We want to know why you are interested in Scribl. Please read this section and write it accordingly.\n\nWe want you if you are:\n\n\n* Fun, kind, fast, and flexible\n\n* A good communicator\n\n* Possessed of a strong sense for minimalist and elegant design, with a dash of fun\n\n* Passionate about digital content, especially ebooks and audiobooks\n\n\n\n\nAnd have strong technical experience with:\n\n\n* ReactJS (or other deep JavaScript experience)\n\n* HTML5 and Responsive Design\n\n* SEO\n\n* Writing high-quality, testable, and maintainable JS code\n\n* E-commerce and security best practices\n\n* Adobe or other graphic design tools to support your UI work\n\n\n\n\nIf you have some experience with these, that's a plus, but it's not required:\n\n\n* Ruby-on-Rails or Elixir/Phoenix to work with our existing system and back-end\n\n* Familiarity with AWS hosting and OpsWorks\n\n* NGINX, Linux Ubuntu, and Docker \n\n* Full-stack capabilities\n\n* Media presentation of EPUB and stream audio\n\n* Podcasting\n\n* Mobile and Windows UWP development in React Native or Xamarin\n\n* Strong team-building and project management record\n\n* Leadership\n\n\n\n\nYou will be responsible to:\n\n\n* Work on your own and with other developers who are adding capabilities on the back-end and developing mobile apps to accompany our ebook and audiobook store\n\n* Build and support tight integration between the front end UI, our backend database, and our apps so the user experience is preserved regardless of how the user accesses our content\n\n* Nurture a healthy engineering culture\n\n\n\n\nIt is important that you either have or are willing to gain an appreciation for digital content creators -- authors and artists. Our success is dependent on our ability to help them prosper and want that perspective to be shared by everyone on our team. Please describe your interest in Scribl, CrowdPricing, ebooks, or authors in your cover letter. The resume should show you have the skills. The cover letter is what tells us why you may be the right person for the position.

\nAs a Senior Front-End Web Engineer, you'll join our Product team in shipping software that delivers an excellent experience to our 29+ million monthly readers on Apartment Therapy and Kitchn. We have a wonderful, supportive team and you can read more about our process, culture, and tech stack on our team README.\n\nOur ideal candidate is excited to step into a new codebase and hit the ground running. With plenty of support, you're comfortable proposing high-level code decisions with solid reasoning to back them up. The fundamentals of the client-side web (JavaScript, CSS, HTML) are second nature and you're hard-wired to consider the long-term maintainability and scalability of your work. You've shipped a variety of projects into a production environment and have a deep understanding of how modern web applications live in the wild.\n\nLeadership is practiced at all levels of the company, and we look to our Senior members to help drive decisions while keeping a holistic view of our projects and processes in mind. We value learning on our mixed-experience team and you'll share knowledge and mentor others through thoughtful code reviews, pair programming, and the example you set.\n\nOur team (and much of the company) works remotely. We all wear many hats and maintain a collaborative and encouraging environment. You may work remotely or in our New York City office, however you must be able to work effectively with a remote team and coworkers. Excellent communication skills and self-direction are critical for success.\n\nHere's what current Product team members say about the job:\n\n\n* 'Smart, action-oriented people; everyone always willing to jump in to help; flat team culture'\n\n* 'Working from home is obviously great'\n\n* 'I feel like our priorities stay pretty solid once they're defined and on the roadmap; I've definitely worked places where they shift so much nobody ever knows what's going on — definitely a bad thing about other places'\n\n* 'Diverse team is really cool too — everyone comes from a very interesting background'\n\n* 'Coming into this team I was used to using what was easy. Seems like the whole team here jumps on board with what makes the most and best sense.'\n\n* 'We've also hired people who have a 'bias for action.' Like get your hands dirty from day 1 and shine.'\n\n\n

\nJS full-time dev\n\nWe're looking for someone who likes to take ownership of a project, and see it through to completion, with or without supervision. Our stack is really new (about 2 months old) and focuses on a predictable, functional, reliable frontend… React + Observables + redux-like-stores + angular in an iframe for legacy support + native app that renders webpages as video and delivers them to Facebook (and other video services) + ruby-on-rails api backend (all json). \n \n The right candidate would be excited about being our first dev hire. There’s currently only 4 full-time founders (+ 2 part-time employees). Our product helps big brands like NBC, BuzzFeed, the New York Times, Reuters, Nasdaq, TED talks, and more broadcast high quality video to Facebook Live. We've grown really fast and can continue to do so with the right technical talent. We think this is a great fit for someone who thinks they could be great with the right mentorship. (We have one of the guys who built a js video player for one of the biggest companies in the world.)\n \n We’re previously funded by Y Combinator, and some angel investors. At this time, we do not expect to raise further funding. We’re currently profitable, and expect this to be our only company we work at for the next 50 years. We will not be selling the company unless some insane whatsapp like thing happened. We're building a forever biz, not a flip. We'd love for our perfect employee to be excited about small companies and startups, and we'd expect the right candidate to use us as a learning experience to maybe make the next step into a senior developer role.\n \n We value diverse applicant pools, so if you're part of an under-represented population in tech, we hope you'll apply. Specifically we'd love to see more women and people of color apply.\n \n We value people’s home lives. We work hard but some of the founders work 4-day weeks. Other coworkers are encouraged to do this schedule if it works for them. We also value remote work, and have cofounders in Finland and Pakistan, which should emphasize our preference for results over face time for the sake of facetime.\n \n To apply email [email protected] with a quick bio including: What you’ve built, what you like to build, what you wish you could build.

\nWhy This is a Unique Career Opportunity\n\n\n* Fully remote position\n\n* Fast growing startup with a small team (Thousands of customers in over 120 countries with just 9 employees).  Super rare!\n\n* Profitable company since 2010 with no outside funding.  This means we answer to customers, not investors :).  It also means that we are financially strong and not waiting for another round of investment.\n\n* A chance to build the mobile app from the ground up.\n\n* Chance to be involved in other exciting areas such as API, Integrations, and Native Clients.\n\n* Build something that thousands of companies will use.  It’s possible that some of your favorite companies are already customers.\n\n* More work around the world will get done in a better way because of your efforts. \n\n\n\n\nOverview\n\nTeamGantt is one of the fastest growing project management applications right now.  Adding a new mobile application will be a big part in continuing growth of the product and expanding the use and engagement of current users. Currently there is only a very stripped down mobile site that unfortunately has not received the attention it deserves. You, as the mobile developer will play the very important role of building the TeamGantt mobile app from the ground up.  The idea is to make a companion type app to the full product on www.teamgantt.com.  We are not necessarily looking to recreate the entire gantt/schedule capabilities on a mobile device, as that could be hard to achieve on a smaller screen.  However, the types of features that we are looking to build out include : users being able to open up the app and see what they should be working on that day, update their progress, comment on tasks, view the status of their projects, track their time, etc. We are a small team doing big things.  We are currently just a team of nine people, but making a big dent in the project management space.  If you enjoy avoiding office politics, corporate ladders, and long meetings, then this is the place for you.  TeamGantt is a place for people to focus on their craft and to enjoy their work.  You can work from home or a nearby coffee shop.  Any quiet work environment that allows you to focus for extended periods of time is good with us. Responsibilities\n\n\n* First project will be to build out a high quality app that works on both iOS and Android by using React Native or similar technology.\n\n* Continually improve the mobile app to increase usage metrics and engagement\n\n* You will be the lead developer and own the mobile experience for TeamGantt\n\n* Because we are a small team, there are also opportunities to wear multiple hats and work on the marketing site and other areas of TeamGantt application.\n\n* Other opportunities include, native clients, integrations, and web application work.\n\n\n\n\nBenefits\n\n\n* Fully Remote - Work from anywhere\n\n* $5,000 office setup budget for computer, proper chair, desk, etc..\n\n* Competitive Pay\n\n* 401k\n\n* Bonus\n\n* Be a part of a small team that makes some big accomplishments\n\n* Fun, friendly company\n\n* One or two company wide get togethers per year.  This year included mini-golf and a fishing charter on the Chesapeake Bay.  February was a trip to the Poconos with skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, laser tag, zip lines, and fun things for families and children that came along.\n\n\n

\nCreating experiences that matter—to our clients, to our employees, and to our communities.\n\nWe’re different.  We think differently.  We act differently.  Differently from marketing agencies that drive traffic at all costs. Differently from tech shops that build the latest and greatest, but without a clear plan for growth.  Differently from large companies whose staff is as temporary as the technology.\n\nIn an industry overwhelmed with shiny new buzzwords, Exclamation Labs still understands the value of experience. And we use that experience to save the day.\n\nExclamation Labs is an architect of corporate level web sites—we design and implement large mission critical infrastructure and we execute the marketing programs that make them successful.  Our team has project managers, graphic designers, marketing planners, web developers, programmers, system administrators and more. We pride ourselves on our work. We’re perfectionists and it shows.\n\nOverview of the Role\n\nAs an experienced and dedicated front-end web developer, you will utilize modern development tools and methodologies. You will work closely with our team of designers from initial concept through final testing to provide amazing user experiences. \n\nWe are active members of our community, and as a member of the development team you will have the opportunity to work with, and contribute to, open source software and other community projects.\n\nOur company is a great place to work! We offer competitive salaries, insurance benefits, IRA plan with company match and more. A relocation package or remote work may be an option for exceptional candidates.\n\nIf you apply with us, you should thrive on being challenged by your work.  You must be willing to think outside of traditional solutions and be ahead of the pack in learning newer technologies. Passion for your work should be your first priority.  If this sounds appealing, we want to talk to you!

A GitHub or Bitbucket URL is ideal. Please let us know whether a freelance or fulltime position is preferable, too.\n\nIf we like what we see we'll get back to you quickly to arrange to have a cup of tea and a chat.\n\[email protected]\n\nAgencies:\n\nPlease don't call. If (one day) we need you, we'll be in touch.\n\nWe will not engage with cold-calling or emailing agencies in any way.
