\nAt Files.com, our Customer Success team does a whole lot more than customer support. Of course, we provide high-touch customer support via phone and email. But, the main focus of our Customer Success team is to operate proactively as the face of Files.com by conducting training webinars, publishing videos, writing documentation, creating code samples (that actually run), and helping partners and customers succeed with Files.com.\n\nOur Customer Success team is made up of real engineers who read and write code as a regular part of their job.\n\nAbout the Role\n\nMembers of our Customer Success team spend about half their time responding to customer-initiated interactions such as phone calls and support requests. We take a high-touch approach to support, encouraging frequent interaction with customers and working with them to a full resolution of any issues.\n\nThe other half of your time is spent proactively developing content for Files.com. These will include things like training videos, written documentation content, sample code, blog posts, email announcements, and other things that help our customers stay current and improve their use of Files.com.\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n\n* \n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\n\n* \n\nTop-notch customer demeanor, including patience, understanding, and empathy.\n\n\n* \n\nExperience with APIs, the command line, and working with APIs or hosted services in least 2 programming languages.\n\n\n* \n\nHistory of creating content, such as blog posts, videos, and documentation.\n\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n\n* \n\nKnowledge of hosting-related topics and technologies like TCP/IP, IP routing, DNS, FTP, HTTP, Email, Firewalls, SSL/TLS, Unix, or Linux.\n\n\n* \n\nExperience working on a remote team.\n\n\n\n

You’ll document and describe all the technical capabilities of the platform in a clear, digestible format. In other words, you’ll become the world’s foremost expert on all things balena!\n\nThe documentation and internal knowledge base of solutions will be yours to design and maintain. You will create and organize this content, making sure it is synced, up-to-date, and easy for external and internal developers to quickly find the information they need.\n\nYou will be a critical element in balena’s [support driven development philosophy](https://www.balena.io/blog/support-driven-development/), helping the support engineers be more efficient and accurate. You will be integral in recognizing knowledge gaps in our user base but also in our team.\n\nYou will work cross functionally with Engineering, Product Management and Sales. Think of yourself as an internal journalist, using the entire team as your source as you dig out the perfect descriptions of our solutions for customers and employees. You will be on the front line of accelerating the development of some of the coolest IoT and edge technology products in the world. This will be a full-time role.\n\nRESPONSIBILITIES\n\n\n* Manage our docs from end to end. You turn complicated technical concepts into clear and interesting material.\n\n* Able to dive deep while keeping the big picture in mind. You can create lots of great content while seeing how it fits into our overall story and broader goals.\n\n* Able to work with developers and team members to gather technical details. Like a journalist, you aren’t afraid to ask questions to get to what’s most important for users to know, and root out knowledge gaps that will benefit customers.\n\n* Organized, thorough, accurate, and close attention to detail.\n\n* Self-motivated and able to set direction and priorities. You can be incredibly productive without much oversight and know where your time is best spent.\n\n* Skilled at learning and teaching new technical concepts. You don’t need to be a developer per se, but you do need to be able to build a thorough understanding of balena products and teach others about our technologies.\n\n* You believe positive user experiences are critical to success and love helping customers tackle technical problems\n\n* Able to understand the product from a user’s perspective and explain features in a way that users will appreciate.\n\n* Fluent in written and spoken English\n\n\n\n\nNice to have:\n\n\n* Experience working as a developer, particularly with JavaScript, HTML, and Linux\n\n* Experience building IoT and/or hardware projects. Bonus points if you’ve built something cool using balenaCloud\n\n* Familiarity with IoT, containers, electronics, or embedded software development.\n\n* Strong understanding of content and documentaion’s role in a SaaS developer platform.\n\n* Links to resources where we can see your work and projects you are proud of will be hugely beneficial.\n\n\n\n\nBENEFITS\n\n\n* Work with an extremely talented, diverse team\n\n* Equipment of your choice\n\n* Remote-friendly\n\n* Flexible working hours\n\n* Flexible vacation policy\n\n* Annual company gathering in an international location\n\n* We send you hardware for side projects!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT WORKING AT BALENA\n\nWe come from 15+ countries, and we embrace a remote culture with flexible hours. To us, this means being highly productive while still maintaining a healthy work-life balance. You need to be able to work remotely, and have a dependable internet access available so you can join video calls.\n\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diverse backgrounds. We maintain a work environment in which team members are treated with respect at all times and in which thoughts and ideas can be shared openly.\n\nWe communicate proposals, discuss with others in the team and accept feedback if it makes the result better. We value the ability to learn, which is more important to us than knowledge of specific technologies. We know that learning fast means being outside our comfort zone, which is OK -- we'd rather grow than let our assumptions get in our way.

Koji - Web App Development Platform

This job post is closed and the position is probably filled. Please do not apply.
\nKoji is a platform that lets non-coders "remix" games and apps to customize game assets, styles, and basic mechanics. These apps are web apps (full-stack Javascript) created by independent developers and made available for remixing on Koji via the addition of some Koji-specific configuration files.\n\nKoji games have been remixed and shared by all kinds of people, including celebrities, influencers, and athletes from around the world! Koji games embed natively in Reddit, Snapchat, and Instagram, and can be played from any device and on any browser.\n\nWe are looking for a talented technical writer to help create resources both for developers creating games and apps on the Koji Platform, and for makers (non-technical users) customizing and publishing apps.\n\nWe believe that the most concise and effective way to communicate the value of a new tool to a technical audience is through documentation, and we are sorely lacking on that end. We’d like your help to change this :-)\n\nOur ideal candidate is someone with experience writing documentation about web technologies and web apps. This is documentation about the Koji platform and not code-level documentation, though an understanding of the modern web/JS development lifecycle might be helpful. \n\nYou can see what (little) documentation we have at https://withkoji.com/docs -- the sections listed on the left side may help frame some of the areas that need work. You will be responsible for seeking product knowledge on your own (we’re a tiny team!) and choosing your own areas of focus.\n\nIf this opportunity sounds interesting to you, please get in touch with a sample of your previous work and your rate!
