\nKava Labs is hiring for an Engineering Manager, who will be hands-on while also managing the Protocol Engineering team. Youโll oversee the Software Developmentย life cycle, and planning/scoping projects in collaboration with our product and design teams. This is a North America-based, full-time, remote position. \nWhat You Will Do.\n\n* \nManage, mentor and coach engineers: Ensure your team is meeting project timelines and deliverables. Ensure that your team follows Engineering best practices โ sprints, code reviews, software design docs, or conducting post-mortems.\n\n* \nReview, write and test code: Review and test code. Implement improvements to your teamโs technical diligence. Facilitate technical design decisions and drive the team to execute against those goals on time and within scope. Ensure quality code is shipped by the team.ย \n\n* \nOwn the full SDLC:ย Youโll guide the Protocol team through the Planning, Requirements, Design, Building, Documenting, Testing, Deployment and ongoing maintenance of each project.\n\n* \nWorking Cross-Functionally: Collaborate with other department leaders from Engineering, Product and Design to execute the product life cycle.ย \n\n* \nCommunication: Youโll exhibit a high level of autonomy in ambiguous environments and are comfortable establishing and executing upon priorities with a strong sense of urgency.\n\n* \nEmotional Intelligence: Youโll navigate through stressful or ambiguous situations and lead your team to continue delivering high quality software under pressure and tight deadlines.\n\n* \nInnovation: Youโll identify and tackle hard problems that are considered as major bottlenecks which slow down or prevent innovation.\n\n\nWho You Are.\n\n* 6+ years total Engineering experience\n\n* 1+ year experience in Web3 as a Manager or Engineer.\n\n* 2+ years experience being hands-on with Golang or other modern programming languages (java, rust, etc) in their career.\n\n* 3+ years managing a team which owned a highly scalable service.\n\n* 3+ Years experience driving and leading continuous improvements to their teamโs core codebase.\n\n* 3+ years leading a team which was security aware and looked for risks and vulnerabilities continuously in their code base.ย \n\n* Lead projects, own the relationship with Product and scope processes from start to finish.\n\n* Able to adapt and adjust in a high-stakes, high-growth, roll up your sleeves type of work.\n\n\nNice To Haves.\n\n* Experience Managing a team that owned open source code/repository.ย \n\n* Prior experience managing a geographically distributed engineering team.
