You’ll use the latest web standards in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and modern technologies and frameworks like Typescript, React, GraphQL, Apollo and Ruby on Rails, to develop large front-end web applications and websites that scale and perform well on all devices. You’ll work across disciplines and are excited about building human-centered experiences. Front End Development exists across all of Shopify, from Product to Marketing, working closely with the teams that create performant experiences and communicate Shopify’s impact on commerce to a global audience. At [Saga](https://saga.so), we are looking for multiple Full Stack Engineers to join our Engineering team. We are a small (but growing) remote company building a platform to connect knowledge and give teams contextual information at a glance.\n\nWhat makes Saga different is the ability to author content while having an overview of any piece of information that might be relevant to your current work.\n\n### What working for our Engineering Team will be:\n\n* We will explore two core directions in the next year: 1) make Saga the best tool for teams to collaborate on knowledge creation; 2) integrate Saga with external tools to allow teams to have an overview of their extended knowledge.\n* No stone left unturned: as we’re a small team collaborating on every issue, expect to touch every part of the product at some point, from frontend to backend to scaling our infrastructure. This doesn’t mean you need to know it all already. Every team member brings in their unique expertise, and we all learn from each other.\n* Collaboration over individual contribution. We collaborate most of the time over video. This means pair programming and deciding as a group how to move forward with any issue. Every two weeks, we decide together what to focus on, then we tackle those problems together to completion.\n* Flexible working hours. We strive to work together as much as possible to increase our collective throughput, but you will be able to set your own schedule and adjust your hours depending on your needs.\n* You will face hard technical challenges. We need to scale our product to digest information of ever-increasing orders of magnitude while keeping the user experience as simple as it can be.\n* Customer-facing, always. We have communities on Discord, Slack, and Reddit, you will be able to assess directly user feedback and iterate on it.\nOpen-source. We support and actively contribute to open source libraries that power Saga. You will have a chance to work on software that will be used by the open-source community at large.\n\n### What we’re looking for:\n\n* You have experience with (or interest in) React, Typescript, Node.js. Optionally, you have experience with GraphQL, Postgres, Firebase.\n* Bonus points if you have experience with one of: indexing and search engines; managing infrastructure at scale; CRDTs, and real-time collaboration libraries.\n* You know how to start a project from scratch. You have built an impressive side project, led a project in your day job or at school or you have been a founder before.\n* You think product-first. You want to create something used and loved by millions and are careful about shipping with customers in mind.\n* You can use your communication skills to make remote work a joy. You will seldomly see your colleagues in person, therefore communication is key. We document everything we do, and strive to have an open communication culture.\n\n### What we offer in return:\n\n- Generous compensation and employee-friendly equity options in Saga\n- 25 days paid vacation days on top of public holidays in your country\n- Flexible working hours\n- Home office equipment\n- Team retreats every few months in beautiful locations around the world (depending on Covid situation)\n\nPlease note that benefits may vary by country. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask us.\n\n### Diversity and inclusion:\n\nWe think diversity makes any company the best company it can be. We believe different backgrounds mean different points of view that can make us stronger and more robust as a company. We welcome people who are not afraid to challenge assumptions. We all live in different countries, speak different languages, have been or still are immigrants ourselves. We all had unorthodox careers, before starting Saga.\n\nNo matter where you come from or what your background is, we want to hear from you! \n\nIf you have any disability that might impact the interview process, please let us know if there’s any way we can make it better for you! \n\n#Salary and compensation\n$60,000 — $80,000/year\n\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

At [Sugar](http://www.sugarliving.com), we make residential properties feel like home by fostering community among residents and integrating deeply with the technology stack that powers modern buildings.\n\nMost residential apps are clunky, outdated, and a pain to use. Tasks as simple as paying rent, communicating with your property manager, or unlocking your door are cumbersome and tedious. Many residents feel isolated and disconnected from their neighbors, which is especially relevant in the light of COVID-19 and its impact. This leads to high resident turnover, negative online reviews, and decreased revenue for building owners. \n\n**By building delightful experiences for our users, we're creating a positive-sum world where residents thrive and property value is maximized.**\n\nAs residents ourselves, we're creating the living experience we wish we had - and helping property owners deliver that experience to their residents. We're fortunate to have built a team of ambitious, curious, talented, and diverse individuals who are passionate about this problem space.\n\nWe're looking for an experienced full stack engineer to help us drive our mission forward. This role reports to the Lead Software Engineer.\n\n### Importance of Engineering\n\nOur users trust us with one of the most personal aspects of their lives - access to their home and their community. As such, we hold ourselves to incredibly high standards of reliability, security, and usability. Building systems that meet these demands is a challenging task.\n\nSome of the engineering problems that we solve on a daily basis include:\n\n- Reliably and securely controlling on-premises hardware and IoT devices in varying network conditions\n- Integrating with legacy enterprise software in a way that masks the underlying complexity\n- Crafting fluid, intuitive interfaces with sub-100ms interactions on a wide variety of end-user devices\n\nBuilding the systems that represent the future of residential living is brimming with complexity and opportunity. We'd love your help.\n\n### What we’re looking for:\n\n- You have 5+ years of experience building consumer-facing applications, or can demonstrate a similar proficiency\n- You have a strong command of technologies like Django, Postgres, Redis, React/React Native, and GraphQL\n- You're able to learn quickly and you embrace the opportunity to share your knowledge with others\n- You enjoy experimentation and can build large applications through small iterative releases.\n- You thrive in an early-stage startup environment, working closely with a tight knit team, learning daily from users, and having autonomy and ownership over the products you build\n- You're an excellent communicator, and are able to clearly distill complex topics for both technical and non-technical team members\n- You're able to break down large problems down and deeply understand the tradeoffs involved in solving them\n- You're humble, kind, and incredibly self-aware\n- You know your own weak spots intimately and have a genuine desire to improve\n- You’re looking for a long-term role with a company that has long-term ambition\n\n### Bonus points if:\n\n- You have experience working with physical access control systems\n- You have a background in information security\n- You have experience building applications that meet the standards of SOC-2 or ISO-27001 compliance\n\n### Working @ Sugar\n\nOn top of interesting work, Sugar provides:\n\n- The ability to grow from the ground up with a VC-backed startup in a high-growth industry\n- Competitive salary + equity grants\n- A commitment to using, support, and building open-source\n- A culture focused on optimizing for learning and personal development\n- Sane working hours\n- 15 days/year PTO + All major holidays off\n- Medical, Dental, and Vision Health Insurance Coverage (Sugar pays 80% for employee + dependents)\n- $100/month Health + Wellness Stipend (gym membership, yoga classes, massages, therapy, etc.)\n- $1000/year professional development stipend (conferences, leadership / communication coaches, books, courses, etc.) \n\n#Salary and compensation\n$120,000 — $140,000/year\n\n\n#Location\nUS / Canada

This is maybe more SRE/Devops related but in small startups we all take a bit of the responsibility for the uptime + quality of services running. 😉\n* have an interesting story to tell: We're a diverse company, we employ people of all ages, genders and walks of life because that's what Picker is all about: everyone brings their own background, hobbies and expertise to the table. That's how you find brand new things that you previously knew nothing about! 🐝\n* are a contributor to a known library! # We're building the Data Platform of the Future\nJoin us if you want to rethink the way organizations interact with data. We are a **developer-first company**, committed to building around open protocols and delivering the best experience possible for data consumers and publishers.\n\nSplitgraph is a **seed-stage, venture-funded startup hiring its initial team**. The two co-founders are looking to grow the team to five or six people. This is an opportunity to make a big impact on an agile team while working closely with the\nfounders.\n\nSplitgraph is a **remote-first organization**. The founders are based in the UK, and the company is incorporated in both USA and UK. Candidates are welcome to apply from any geography. We want to work with the most talented, thoughtful and productive engineers in the world.\n# Open Positions\n**Data Engineers welcome!** The job titles have "Software Engineer" in them, but at Splitgraph there's a lot of overlap \nbetween data and software engineering. We welcome candidates from all engineering backgrounds.\n\n[Senior Software Engineer - Backend (mainly Python)](https://www.notion.so/splitgraph/Senior-Software-Engineer-Backend-2a2f9e278ba347069bf2566950857250)\n\n[Senior Software Engineer - Frontend (mainly TypeScript)](https://www.notion.so/splitgraph/Senior-Software-Engineer-Frontend-6342cd76b0df483a9fd2ab6818070456)\n\n→ [**Apply to Job**](https://4o99daw6ffu.typeform.com/to/ePkNQiDp) ← (same form for both positions)\n\n# What is Splitgraph?\n## **Open Source Toolkit**\n\n[Our open-source product, sgr,](https://www.github.com/splitgraph/splitgraph) is a tool for building, versioning and querying reproducible datasets. It's inspired by Docker and Git, so it feels familiar. And it's powered by PostgreSQL, so it works seamlessly with existing tools in the Postgres ecosystem. Use Splitgraph to package your data into self-contained\ndata images that you can share with other Splitgraph instances.\n\n## **Splitgraph Cloud**\n\nSplitgraph Cloud is a platform for data cataloging, integration and governance. The user can upload data, connect live databases, or "push" versioned snapshots to it. We give them a unified SQL interface to query that data, a catalog to discover and share it, and tools to build/push/pull it.\n\n# Learn More About Us\n\n- Listen to our interview on the [Software Engineering Daily podcast](https://softwareengineeringdaily.com/2020/11/06/splitgraph-data-catalog-and-proxy-with-miles-richardson/)\n\n- Watch our co-founder Artjoms present [Splitgraph at the Bay Area ClickHouse meetup](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44CDs7hJTho)\n\n- Read our HN/Reddit posts ([one](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24233948) [two](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23769420) [three](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23627066) [four](https://old.reddit.com/r/datasets/comments/icty0r/we_made_40k_open_government_datasets_queryable/))\n\n- [Read our blog](https://www.splitgraph.com/blog)\n\n- Read the slides from our early (2018) presentations: ["Docker for Data"](https://www.slideshare.net/splitgraph/splitgraph-docker-for-data-119112722), [AHL Meetup](https://www.slideshare.net/splitgraph/splitgraph-ahl-talk)\n\n- [Follow us on Twitter](https://ww.twitter.com/splitgraph)\n\n- [Find us on GitHub](https://www.github.com/splitgraph)\n\n- [Chat with us in our community Discord](https://discord.gg/eFEFRKm)\n\n- Explore the [public data catalog](https://www.splitgraph.com/explore) where we index 40k+ datasets\n\n# How We Work: What's our stack look like?\n\nWe prioritize developer experience and productivity. We resent repetition and inefficiency, and we never hesitate to automate the things that cause us friction. Here's a sampling of the languages and tools we work with:\n\n- **[Python](https://www.python.org/) for the backend.** Our [core open source](https://www.github.com/splitgraph/splitgraph) tech is written in Python (with [a bit of C](https://github.com/splitgraph/Multicorn) to make it more interesting), as well as most of our backend code. The Python code powers everything from authentication routines to database migrations. We use the latest version and tools like [pytest](https://docs.pytest.org/en/stable/), [mypy](https://github.com/python/mypy) and [Poetry](https://python-poetry.org/) to help us write quality software.\n\n- **[TypeScript](https://www.typescriptlang.org/) for the web stack.** We use TypeScript throughout our web stack. On the frontend we use [React](https://reactjs.org/) with [next.js](https://nextjs.org/). For data fetching we use [apollo-client](https://www.apollographql.com/docs/react/) with fully-typed GraphQL queries auto-generated by [graphql-codegen](https://graphql-code-generator.com/) based on the schema that [Postgraphile](https://www.graphile.org/postgraphile) creates by introspecting the database.\n\n- [**PostgreSQL](https://www.postgresql.org/) for the database, because of course.** Splitgraph is a company built around Postgres, so of course we are going to use it for our own database. In fact, we actually have three databases. We have `auth-db` for storing sensitive data, `registry-db` which acts as a [Splitgraph peer](https://www.splitgraph.com/docs/publishing-data/push-data) so users can push Splitgraph images to it using [sgr](https://www.github.com/splitgraph/splitgraph), and `cloud-db` where we store the schemata that Postgraphile uses to autogenerate the GraphQL server.\n\n- [**PL/pgSQL](https://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/plpgsql.html) and [PL/Python](https://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/plpython.html) for stored procedures.** We define a lot of core business logic directly in the database as stored procedures, which are ultimately [exposed by Postgraphile as GraphQL endpoints](https://www.graphile.org/postgraphile/functions/). We find this to be a surprisingly productive way of developing, as it eliminates the need for manually maintaining an API layer between data and code. It presents challenges for testing and maintainability, but we've built tools to help with database migrations and rollbacks, and an end-to-end testing framework that exercises the database routines.\n\n- [**PostgREST](https://postgrest.org/en/v7.0.0/) for auto-generating a REST API for every repository.** We use this excellent library (written in [Haskell](https://www.haskell.org/)) to expose an [OpenAPI](https://github.com/OAI/OpenAPI-Specification)-compatible REST API for every repository on Splitgraph ([example](http://splitgraph.com/mildbyte/complex_dataset/latest/-/api-schema)).\n\n- **Lua ([luajit](https://luajit.org/luajit.html) 5.x), C, and [embedded Python](https://docs.python.org/3/extending/embedding.html) for scripting [PgBouncer](https://www.pgbouncer.org/).** Our main product, the "data delivery network", is a single SQL endpoint where users can query any data on Splitgraph. Really it's a layer of PgBouncer instances orchestrating temporary Postgres databases and proxying queries to them, where we load and cache the data necessary to respond to a query. We've added scripting capabilities to enable things like query rewriting, column masking, authentication, ACL, orchestration, firewalling, etc.\n\n- **[Docker](https://www.docker.com/) for packaging services.** Our CI pipeline builds every commit into about a dozen different Docker images, one for each of our services. A production instance of Splitgraph can be running over 60 different containers (including replicas).\n\n- **[Makefile](https://www.gnu.org/software/make/manual/make.html) and** [docker-compose](https://docs.docker.com/compose/) **for development.** We use [a highly optimized Makefile](https://www.splitgraph.com/blog/makefile) and `docker-compose` so that developers can easily spin-up a stack that mimics production in every way, while keeping it easy to hot reload, run tests, or add new services or configuration.\n\n- **[Nomad](https://www.nomadproject.io/) for deployment and [Terraform](https://www.terraform.io/) for provisioning.** We use Nomad to manage deployments and background tasks. Along with Terraform, we're able to spin up a Splitgraph cluster on AWS, GCP, Scaleway or Azure in just a few minutes.\n\n- **[Airflow](https://airflow.apache.org/) for job orchestration.** We use it to run and monitor jobs that maintain our catalog of [40,000 public datasets](https://www.splitgraph.com/blog/40k-sql-datasets), or ingest other public data into Splitgraph.\n\n- **[Grafana](https://grafana.com/), [Prometheus](https://prometheus.io/), [ElasticSearch](https://www.elastic.co/), and [Kibana](https://www.elastic.co/kibana) for monitoring and metrics.** We believe it's important to self-host fundamental infrastructure like our monitoring stack. We use this to keep tabs on important metrics and the health of all Splitgraph deployments.\n\n- **[Mattermost](https://mattermost.com/) for company chat.** We think it's absolutely bonkers to pay a company like Slack to hold your company communication hostage. That's why we self-host an instance of Mattermost for our internal chat. And of course, we can deploy it and update it with Terraform.\n\n- **[Matomo](https://matomo.org/) for web analytics.** We take privacy seriously, and we try to avoid including any third party scripts on our web pages (currently we include zero). We self-host our analytics because we don't want to share our user data with third parties.\n\n- **[Metabase](https://www.metabase.com/) and [Splitgraph](https://www.splitgraph.com) for BI and [dogfooding](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eating_your_own_dog_food)**. We use Metabase as a frontend to a Splitgraph instance that connects to Postgres (our internal databases), MySQL (Matomo's database), and ElasticSearch (where we store logs and DDN analytics). We use this as a chance to dogfood our software and produce fancy charts.\n\n- **The occasional best-of-breed SaaS services** **for organization.** As a privacy-conscious, independent-minded company, we try to avoid SaaS services as much as we can. But we still find ourselves unable to resist some of the better products out there. For organization we use tools like [Zoom](https://www.zoom.us) for video calls, [Miro](https://miro.com/) for brainstorming, [Notion](https://www.notion.so) for documentation (you're on it!), [Airtable for workflow management](https://airtable.com/), [PivotalTracker](https://www.pivotaltracker.com/) for ticketing, and [GitLab for dev-ops and CI](https://about.gitlab.com/).\n\n- **Other fun technologies** including [HAProxy](http://www.haproxy.org/), [OpenResty](https://openresty.org/en/), [Varnish](https://varnish-cache.org/), and bash. We don't touch them much because they do their job well and rarely break.\n\n# Life at Splitgraph\n**We are a young company building the initial team.** As an early contributor, you'll have a chance to shape our initial mission, growth and company values.\n\n**We think that remote work is the future**, and that's why we're building a remote-first organization. We chat on [Mattermost](https://mattermost.com/) and have video calls on Zoom. We brainstorm with [Miro](https://miro.com/) and organize with [Notion](https://www.notion.so).\n\n**We try not to take ourselves too seriously**, but we are goal-oriented with an ambitious mission.\n\n**We believe that as a small company, we can out-compete incumbents** by thinking from first principles about how organizations interact with data. We are very competitive.\n\n# Benefits\n- Fully remote\n\n- Flexible working hours\n\n- Generous compensation and equity package\n\n- Opportunity to make high-impact contributions to an agile team\n\n# How to Apply? Engineering works closely with our Product and Success teams to discover and deliver features that will make a real difference in a product our customers use every day.\n\n**Tech Stack**\nIn 2019 we re-built our tech stack in a phased rewrite (rather than a big-bang project) to adopt React, Typescript, and Relay on the front-end, talking to a GraphQL API powered by Ruby on Rails. We practice continuous deployment, dividing work into weekly sprints.\n\n**Team**\nWe're a _fully remote team_ working across 6 time zones, and we make heavy use of Slack and Zoom for communication throughout the day. We value work/life balance and work at a sane pace, 40 hour weeks, Monday - Friday. We're open to mid or senior roles at this time.\n\n## Mid-Level Software Engineer\n\nYou have a solid understanding of core engineering concepts, are able to master our tech stack, tools and processes, and become a productive contributor to new feature development.\n\nRequired Skills:\n* Experience with Ruby on Rails and 1 or more of our other core technologies: React, Typescript, RelayJS, GraphQL\n* Taking well-scoped components to completion within a reasonable time frame\n* Great communicator, asks questions, explains themselves, open to feedback\n* Proficient learner and problem solver\n* Cares for the end-user (see [The Product-Minded Engineer](https://blog.pragmaticengineer.com/the-product-minded-engineer/))\n\n[Apply Here](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeF5zo6hIcTQK8gP9LLGz6sTZMXGI1vDHPVbkpISxiy9CvOfQ/viewform?usp=pp_url&entry.473179885=Software+Engineer)\n\n## Senior Software Engineer\n\nYou are a rock-solid engineer with mastery of at least one domain. You can own technical design for projects of moderate complexity, understand trade-offs, debug systems in your domain, and write high quality code while getting a lot done. You're collaborative and an active contributor to product discovery conversations.\n\nRequired Skills:\n* Experience with 3 or more of our core technologies: React, Typescript, RelayJS, GraphQL, Ruby on Rails\n* Experience translating complex user stories into detailed requirements\n* Highly productive, moves fast without breaking things\n* Great collaborator, takes initiative, asks questions, explains themselves, open to feedback\n* Proficient learner and problem solver\n* Cares for the end-user (see [The Product-Minded Engineer](https://blog.pragmaticengineer.com/the-product-minded-engineer/))\n\n[Apply Here](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeF5zo6hIcTQK8gP9LLGz6sTZMXGI1vDHPVbkpISxiy9CvOfQ/viewform?usp=pp_url&entry.473179885=Senior+Software+Engineer)\n\n## Benefits\n\nBoth positions offer the following benefits:\n* Early Off Fridays (every other Friday afternoon off)\n* 3 Weeks Paid Vacation (in addition to the above, but includes local bank holidays)\n* Healthcare Allowance\n* Vacation Allowance\n\n\nSelected candidates will be invited to a 30-minute call, followed by a 90-minute structured interview to discuss your career and some technical questions related to your role.\n\nIf you enjoy owning the outcome for customers, influencing product, and honing your craft, we'd love to talk to you.\n\n[Apply Here](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeF5zo6hIcTQK8gP9LLGz6sTZMXGI1vDHPVbkpISxiy9CvOfQ/viewform) \n\n#Salary and compensation\n$50,000 — $100,000/year\n\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

Shopify is now permanently remote and working towards a future that is digital by default. Learn more about what this can mean for you.\n\nShopify is the leading cloud-based, multi-channel commerce platform. Merchants can use the software to design, set up, and manage their stores across multiple sales channels, including web, mobile, social media, marketplaces, and brick-and-mortar locations. The platform also provides merchants with a powerful back-office and a single view of their business. Shopify was engineered for reliability and scale, making enterprise-level technology available to businesses of all sizes. Shopify powers over 1,000,000 businesses in over 175 countries — and here’s how we’ve been helping more merchants survive, thrive, and navigate the impacts of COVID-19.\n \nShopify is on a fast-moving mission to make the best products for merchants, buyers, and partners around the globe — and engineers play a vital role in building that future. Here are just some of the stories from the engineering teams who build and scale Shopify.\n \n*Intrigued? That’s great! We’re looking for Senior Software Developers to join our team, and maybe you’re the person we’re looking for!*\n\n**What types of Senior Software Developers might be interested in joining?**\n \n**Backend Development**\n\nAt Shopify, Backend Developers with a passion for solving tough problems with performant code work on teams that ship on quality instead of on time. Our teams deploy new code many times a day, and our production scale is massive. We’re talking over 1 million online stores, and hundreds of millions of requests a day. Thousands of entrepreneurs will see your work within seconds – a difficult but incredibly rewarding responsibility. Shopify is the largest Ruby on Rails application in the world and we're a big part of the Rails community. We’re constantly improving our codebase to make it even better.\n \n**Mobile Development (React Native, Android & iOS)**\n\nOur Mobile Developers work along with designers and product managers to build and launch new features for our apps. You’ll work on large-scale apps that are ever-changing, enabling entrepreneurship for hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs. Our Android developers use Kotlin and our iOS developers use Swift. Our teams are increasingly working with React Native so openness to cross-platform mobile development is a plus!\n \n**UX Development **\n\nAt Shopify, UX Developers work on building experiences inclusive of everyone regardless of location, language, device, assistive technology, or network speed. You’ll work across disciplines and are excited about building human-centered experiences. You’ll work closely with the teams that create compelling content, build awareness of Shopify, and communicate stories about Shopify's role in commerce to a global audience. Or, you might focus on creating thoughtful product interfaces for our users, shape our design language, and contribute to our shared component libraries in a maintainable and scalable way. Our teams primarily work with the latest web standards in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and Ruby on Rails.\n \n**Web Development**\n\nOur Web Developers work closely with software engineering teams, designers and product managers to not only build incredible merchant-facing products, but also developer-facing tools. You’ll use modern technologies and frameworks like Typescript, React, GraphQL and Apollo to develop large front-end web applications that scale and perform well on all devices. Ruby on Rails is used to add and modify controllers, models, views, and integrating front-end code into a Rails application.\n\n**You’ll be working on things like:**\n\n* Collaborating with other designers and developers\n* Creating beautiful and fast code that improves our code base in meaningful ways\n* Using test-driven development to write well-tested code\n* Fixing bugs fast and taking your time to solve hard problems well\n* Contributing back to the open source community\n\n**Qualities you likely have to be well suited to this role:**\n\n* Experience using technologies and frameworks like (but not limited to) some of our most-used languages — Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, Java/JEE, Node.js, PHP, Python, React or React Native — is an asset, but not required. Don’t have experience with many of them? No problem — deep experience with any object-oriented language and willingness to learn our tech stack goes a long way. (Also: Check out our StackShare here.)\n* Curiosity and passion to constantly learn new things; Shopify changes fast, and we need the people who work here to be able to change and learn fast too\n* Experience with relational databases and SQL \n\n**Bonus Points**\n\nYou’ve mentored teammates on new ways to deepen their technical craft\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

## A little about us\n\nOyster’s mission: to unlock global talent by making cross border hiring easy. We want to spread great employment rights and benefits and help make them the norm for remote workers across the world.\n\n🗺 Remote working, flexible hours.\n⏱ Permanent, full time\n💵 Competitive salary\n🍰 Early stage equity\n\nWe are a new, 100% distributed, startup building out our product offering in 2020. We’re fully funded and we’re putting together a great team of industry veterans. We’re a global company with team members in the UK, India, Germany, the USA, Finland, Latvia, and Mexico.\n\nHiring people internationally is complicated – with interacting engineering, legal, financial, operations, and HR processes. We’d like to find people who think this is as interesting a challenge as we do.\n\n## The role\n\nWe value making this an inclusive and diverse workplace, and we welcome applicants from marginalized groups – the world over.\n\nWe’re looking for a senior backend engineer, that probably means at least five years experience working professionally in teams on web development projects.\n\nIf you join us now, you’ll be in on the ground floor building our technology stack and product, helping to embed a positive team culture and build a great working environment.\n\nYou'll be working on architecting and implementing product features, as we rapidly expand our product offering.\n\nOur technology is (currently) Ruby, Rails, a GraphQL API, and ES6 with React, running on Heroku. This role is primarily on the backend side, though you’ll be able to work elsewhere if you have skills in other areas (and we are also looking for a full-stack developer if that's more your style).\n\nYour job will be to collaborate with product to develop and clarify requirements, and then take charge of implementing significant portions of the product as we expand our offering. You’ll be pairing with other engineers regularly to jointly develop implementation plans and share knowledge.\n\nSkill sets that are important:\n\n- Confident with Ruby, and you’ve worked with JavaScript to an extent. You know HTML.\n- You’ve worked with relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL.\n- You can articulately discuss requirements and technical plans.\n- You have a good understanding of web standards and development best practices.\n- You’re able to write robust, comprehensible code.\n- You've worked in agile teams of one kind or another.\n\nSkills that are not required but any of which would be a bonus:\n\n- Professional experience with GraphQL APIs\n- Using Rails\n- Cloud infrastructure experience\n- Web security expertise\n\nAnd finally:\n\n- You need to have a good home internet connection, or are able to get one.\n- You are a fluent English speaker\n\n## Benefits\n\n$60k-$80k depending on experience.\n\nFully-flexible hours\n\n30 days plus public holidays, or legal minimum in your region if greater. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n$60,000 — $80,000/year\n\n\n#Location\nGmt +/- 4

## Full-time. Fully remote within CET±2. Still hiring post-Covid! 🎉\n\nJust is a FinTech company building SaaS products for corporate treasury. We help CFOs and finance teams in large multinational companies forecast and manage their financial risk.\n\nWe launched our first foreign exchange analytics solution in August 2019 and already serve +20 major corporate customers and 2 non-profits.\n\nWe’re currently developing a “liquidity forecasting” tool which lets companies forecast how much money they’ll have in the bank in the future, and stress test this forecast against various global events.\n\nWe have a great product development team and are looking for an experienced front-end developer to join us so that we can build top-notch user experiences for our customers more quickly.\n\n### 🎁 What we offer\n\n- Join a FinTech startup at the sweet spot—early enough that you can still help shape the company, but established enough to offer good job stability and growth prospects.\n- 100% remote working, unless you’d like to live in Oslo (it’s nice! 🇳🇴🏔️🌲🏳️‍🌈)—and we’ll buy you some decent home office equipment.\n- Regular opportunities to get together with the whole company somewhere fun 🏖️\n- €65-75k salary, wherever you are—we won’t low-ball you for being in a country with a lower cost of living.\n- Stock options, because we want it to be your company as well as ours 🙂\n\n### 👷🏾‍♀️ What you’ll be doing\n\n- You’ll spend most of your time in the first months developing our liquidity management product—we have customers pre-committed to this, so we’re eager to launch as soon as we can.\n- You’ll primarily be responsible for the web client and GraphQL server, but will likely get involved with other things too.\n- You’ll work with our other engineers to come up with the right overall architecture for our solution, and design gRPC APIs that make sense for the front-end.\n- We’ll want you to develop UI test coverage. We have good automated test coverage of our backend services, and front-end unit tests, but we’d like to start running UI tests with Puppeteer or similar.\n- You’ll also lead the design and implementation of a real-time collaboration feature, using something like ShareDB.\n- We’ll spend time helping you to understand our business and archetypical customer in detail. Our engineers don’t just follow instructions—they have their own vision of the product and are always looking to find ways to do things better.\n\n### ✅ The requirements\n\n- You should have extensive experience developing complex web applications with React, Redux and TypeScript—we’d love to see some cool things you made!\n- You should also have worked with GraphQL.\n- You should be good with CSS and familiar with preprocessors.\n- You’ll need an eye for detail and can build things that don't just work, but look and feel great too.\n- You need to practice modern software development techniques such as unit testing, continuous integration & distributed version control.\n- You need to be within ±2 hours of the CET timezone, because we think remote collaboration is really important.\n- We want you to be a fun person to work with! We believe that working together as a team is the most important thing for success.\n\n### 👍🏾 Also good if\n\n- You have some backend development experience, especially with Go. We support working across the full stack for people who are interested.\n- You've worked with Web Components, using Stencil.js or similar.\n- You have publicly available projects and code that we can take a look at.\n\n### 💾 Technologies we use\n\n- *Frontend:* React, Redux, TypeScript, Stylus, GraphQL\n- *Backend:* Go, Java 11, gRPC, RabbitMQ, Open Policy Agent, PostgreSQL\n- *Platform:* Google Cloud Platform, Docker, Kubernetes\n- *Tooling:* Your choice of new laptop, GitLab, Bazel\n\n### 💌 Applying\n\nFeel free to send us your CV at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]), along with a link to something cool you've built previously that we can check out.\n\n*(Direct applicants only. We're not open to outsourcing firms or recruiters, sorry.)* \n\n#Salary and compensation\n€65,000 - 70,000/year\n\n\n#Location\nCET ±2 Timezone

**Hi there,**\nWe are hiring Javascript Developers to help evolve our product from an MVP in pilot to a fully-fledged and scalable product. We’re accepting applications for the next few weeks with an ideal start date in early September.\n\n\n**About Scoutbase**\nScoutbase is a tool that helps shipping companies become safer, more productive and generally better workplaces.\nIn a nutshell, we do this by helping companies understand what makes daily work and life on a ship difficult for their crews.\n\nThe reason why this is valuable to maritime companies is that they suffer from a real lack of up to date, honest and actionable data on what’s difficult for their employees — which could even pose a risk to safety at sea!\nThe way we help those companies understand those challenges is by collecting real-time data directly from their seafarers.\n\nRight now we are focused on the maritime industry and on making life at sea safer for the 1.6 million seafarers out there. But we are exploring opportunities for using our technology to tackle the same lack of data in other industries.\n\n\n**About the Job**\nBuilding technology solutions for the maritime industry is challenging, but we already have a good MVP running and in the hands of pilot users. Now we are looking for a talented developer to bring Scoutbase to the next level.\n\nThis means we are looking for someone to take on this challenge and help us evolve our tech — and our company — over time.\n\nYou will pitch in on our product roadmap and come with ideas for new features. You will make sure our product runs smooth and bug-free. You will work on a product that puts a premium on reliability and user experience.\nThis is a job where you will see the impact of your work. A few months from now the business should look better with you on board. A definite before and after.\n\nThis is a big responsibility and we are here to support you, cheer you on, and make it happen.\nYou can expect to grow in your strengths, versatility, and competence in this job. You can expect an inclusive, eager team who’ll support you in it, rise to challenges with you, and grow together.\n\n\n\n# Responsibilities\n **If you are Front-end:**\nYou will be developing a single-page application based on server-side rendered React, Redux, styled-components and Apollo client that consumes GraphQL API.\n\nTech & Tools:\nJavascript (ES7) (a bit of Typescript)\nReact / Redux\nGraphQL & Apollo\nstyled-components\nWebpack\n\n\n**If you are Back-end:**\nYou will be developing server code in Node.js, developing our database in PostgreSQL and expanding our GraphQL implementation that supports a single-page application.\n\nTech & Tools:\nDocker\nJavascript (ES7) (a bit of Typescript)\nNode.js\nWebpack\nGraphQL & Apollo\nKnex.js & PostgreSQL\nRedis\nHeroku\nCloudFlare\n\n\n**If you are Full-stack:**\nYou will be developing a single-page application based on server-side rendered React, Redux, styled-components and Apollo client that consumes GraphQL API.\nYou will be developing server code in Node.js, developing our database in PostgreSQL and expanding our GraphQL implementation that supports a single-page application based on server-side rendered React.\n\nTech & Tools:\nDocker\nJavascript (ES7) (a bit of Typescript)\nReact / Redux\nNode.js\nWebpackReact / Redux\nKnex.js & PostgreSQL\nRedis\nGraphQL & Apollo\nHeroku\nCloudFlare\n\n \n\n# Requirements\n**About You**\nYou are creative. You are organized. You are experienced. You have done this before. You want to do it again. And you absolutely want to do it for us.\n\nYou are happy to work for a small startup, where things can change quickly and where priorities, roadmaps and plans might have to be adjusted to reflect new circumstances and opportunities.\n\nYou are excited about being in charge of your workstream and taking initiative.\n\nYou might have a Computer Science degree. You might not. That’s not the most important thing for us! We care about what you can do and how you do it, not about how you got here. A strong track record of conscientious, thoughtful work speaks volumes.\n\nThis is a remote job — if you want it to be. You’re free to work where you work best, anywhere in the world: home office, coworking space, coffee shops or of course in our HQ in Copenhagen, Denmark!\n\nIn order to make sure we all work well together in this setting it is important that you are good at managing your own time and projects reliably, meeting set deadlines and communicating with the rest of the team.\nWe do require that your normal workday has at least 4 hours overlap with the workday here in Copenhagen (UTC+1) without impinging on your personal/family life.\n\nThis means we accept remote applications from UTC-3, UTC-2, UTC-1, UTC +0, UTC+1, UTC+2, UTC+3, UTC+4, UTC+5\nEnglish is our company language — which means you need to be good at expressing yourself, both in written form and verbally.\n\n\n**Perks**\nFor us having a life outside of work is important! We are really not about nudging people to do overtime or trapping them in endless meetings. Just the opposite.\n\nWe are proud of working with flexible working hours, ample vacation time, and a four-day working week (usually Fridays are off)!\n\nQuality time to focus on work starts with quality time to think, exercise, cook, be with family and friends — time to yourself.\n\nWe are a small team and work in a very informal, collaborative and relaxed way — and keeping it that way is important to us.\n\n\n**Pay**\nWe pay between 360.000 DKK (54.000 USD) and 660.000 DKK (100.000 USD) a year, matching to your experience. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n54000 USD - 100000 USD/year\n\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

We are looking to add a full stack JavaScript developer to our engineering team. You would be part of a small team that is responsible for building out our latest product, which is currently in the design phase.\n\n### What we value\n* Clean code - We believe the key to moving fast is to write simple, maintainable code, and that the time spent refactoring to a simpler solution pays for itself many times over.\n* Autonomy - We are a small team with minimal process, so we look for people who can take ownership of features from inception through to production deployment. \n* Code reviews - We believe code review is important for both maintaining the standard of our code and as a way to share knowledge and best practices throughout the team.\n* Working at a sustainable pace\n\n### About Addjust\n\n+AddJust is a software company dedicated to building products that modernise how contractual processes are administered on construction projects. Our HQ is in Co. Clare, on the West Coast of Ireland, and we are backed by NDRC and Enterprise Ireland. \n\n# Requirements\nThis is a list of the technologies we use. **You do not have to match this skillset exactly.** If you have experience shipping web software for a number of years, we're more than happy to teach you on the job. \n\n* TypeScript - For all frontend and backend code.\n* React - For our web applications (All new code is written using Hooks).\n* Apollo Client - To connect our frontend react components to our graphql backend.\n* Postgraphile - To generate a secure graphql schema from our postgresql database.\n* Postgresql - For our relational database\n* Firestore - For our real time messaging\n* Jest - For unit tests on the frontend and backend.\n* Cypress.io - For integration testing.\n* Flutter - Our mobile application is written in Flutter\n* CircleCI - For our CI/CD server.\n* AWS - Hosting.\n\n\nThis is a remote position. We are looking for a 40 hour per week commitment, but if you would prefer to do a 32 or 24 hour week that could be an option for the right candidate. There would need to be at least 4 hours overlap with a 9:00am - 5:00pm window in GMT.\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

*Before you start reading, keep in mind that the aim of this job ad is to give you a feel for what it’s like to work at Catapult. There’s lots of research that suggests people often don’t apply because of so-called “requirements” in a job description. If you’re an experienced React engineer with some commercial experience in either Ruby on Rails or Elixir + Phoenix, we’d like to hear from you!*\n\n**What you’re getting yourself in for**\n\nOur mission is to build the world’s best part time job. We spend our time thinking about how to give a global workforce complete control of their own work life while automating the hundreds of thousands of man hours which would normally be required to manage people on this scale.\n\nWe do this using React & Typescript on the frontend backed up by GraphQL servers, some written in Ruby and Rails and some in Elixir and Phoenix.\n\nBusinesses ranging from the largest high-street retailers to five star hotels and independent coffee boutiques rely on Catapult as their casual workforce. If you’ve spent time in a large UK city, you’ve probably been served by a Catapult waiter or sales assistant without even realising it!\n\nWe’re well funded by some amazing investors, our product is live in over 100 locations across the UK and we’ve recently launched in Berlin making us the first and only pan-european player in this space.\n\nOur company values https://writing.joincatapult.com/our-values/ are really important to us and influence every facet of how we work together.\n\n**About the role**\n\nWe’ve been growing rapidly over the last three years and as we continue our international roll out, we’re looking for ambitious engineers to help us build the future of work. Our engineering principles https://writing.joincatapult.com/engineering-principles/ give a good feel for how we work together and what we value.\n\nWe’re a distributed, remote first engineering organisation with team members in Prague, Warsaw, London, Bristol and Bangkok. We work in autonomous pods, each of which has ownership of one area of our business. We’re open to remote applicants from anywhere within the EU.\n\n**Benefits**\n\nAs well as being a part of a well funded startup at one of the most exciting phases of it’s growth, you’ll get:\n\n* Competitive salary + stock options + 25 days paid holiday per year\n* A strong approach to professional development and mentorship, everyone has a dedicated L&D budget for books, training and the like\n* Several product retreats per year where the whole team goes on a team retreat, looks back on how we can improve and then spends a week or so hacking on new ideas and exploring new technologies\n* Regular social events & the opportunity to travel to our other offices\n* Company Macbook Pro which you’re free to take home\n* A flexible work environment focussed on output not hours\n\n# Responsibilities\n **Things we’ve been working on recently**\n\nNo two days are ever the same in a startup, but to give you a flavour of what we’ve been up to recently:\n\n* Standardising on React, Typescript and GraphQL across our suite of applications\n* Using Kubernetes to automatically deploy standalone environments for our feature branches, complete with anonymised production data\n* Applying machine learning to the billions of data points we generate each year to completely obsolete the interview process\n* Preparing the entire Rails, Phoenix, React and React Native environment for Globalization \n\n# Requirements\n**About You**\n\n* Your real passion is for the front end, finding ways to deliver innovative, polished user experiences and you’re experienced supporting this by working in either Ruby & Rails or Elixir & Phoenix backends\n* You’re excited about the potential technologies like GraphQL and Typescript have to speed up and improve the process of building complex client side applications\n* You really buy into the importance of getting things into the hands of a user quickly and then iterating\n* You actively think about when to incur technical debt and when to pay it back\n* You like to explore new technologies and have a keen eye for when something new can add real business value\n* You’ve probably spent most of your time over the last few years focussed on building React applications\n* You’re in favour of, but pragmatic about, automated testing. You like all production grade code to have good test coverage but understand when it may make sense to test MVP’s with a lower degree of test coverage\n* Bonus points for experience with Typescript / GraphQL \n\n#Salary and compensation\n£50-80k depending on location and experience/year\n\n\n#Location\nAnywhere in the EU

WHAT'S UP, WORLD?! My name’s Acuity, but my friends call me Cutie. I’m an online scheduling tech company, and I’m 10 and 3/5ths years old. But that’s, like, 30 in software company years.\n\nHobbies include: craft beer, using finger guns in a completely non-ironic fashion, adult coloring books (don’t act like you don’t have one), and helping businesses of all sizes manage their busy schedules. Pretty niche, I know.\n\n“Why managing schedules?" you ask? Well, I like to help people. I guess you could say I take after my dad that way. His name’s Gavin and he built me from scratch almost 10 years ago! Can you believe it?––A whole decade!\n\nAnd that brings me to what I’m doing all this for...\n\nSee, my full name is Acuity Scheduling––and no, it’s not one of those weird celeb baby names or anything. I’m a tech company. And right now, I’m looking for my ride-or-die, go-to, right-hand PHP App Developer, whose main role will be developing the core of Acuity Scheduling's newest product, [Lungo](https://getlungo.com).\n\nI’m going to describe a human, and if it sounds like you might be the human I’m describing, you should contact me. And you should probably attach your résumé.\n\n\n**REQUIREMENTS**\n\nSo, let’s get down to brass tacks, shall we?\n\n* You're an experienced PHP developer with a hunger to make your mark (but please don't actually bite us)\n* You have experience with Laravel (we use 5.6)\n* You're familiar with GraphQL, and will be comfortable writing GraphQL APIs\n* Bonus points for React experience\n\n\nBeyond brass tacks, here are the softer edges of the gig:\n\n* You're a rare breed developer AND human, which means that you don't actually burst into flames upon being exposed to sunlight, and you're actually pretty darn great at communicating with other people. (This will be important, because all of our employees, no matter who they are, will spend time hanging out in customer service land, getting to know the product they'll be building.)\n* You write good... unlike this bulletpoint.\n* You’re the bomb dot com at solving problems. In other words, you won't run from the challenges—you'll plough straight into them like a champ. Or a developer who loves the thrill of tracking down that one mischievous OOM exception.\n* And last but certainly not least, you’re innovative. Because what would a job description be without "innovative?"\n* You live on planet Earth.\n\n\n**BENEFITS**\n\nAnd by the way? These other qualities would probably help bucketsfull:\n\n* You’re in favor of having 100% of your medical, dental, and vision premiums covered.\n* 401K is your middle name. (Or if you just really like the idea of having 3% of your salary contributed to one.)\n* You’re an autodidact. Go on. Look it up. (You’ll get a $5,000 credit toward continuing your education.)\n\n\nIf this description sounds like you, there’s a chance that I’d like to offer you $80k-125k. Straight up cash money. I mean, it’d be in exchange for your professional services each year, but still.\n\nWrite me. Or, you know, fill out the application that my dad, Gavin, will review personally. You can count on it. Which is nice because they tell me that good men are hard to find these days.\n\nSincerely yours,\n\nCutie AKA Acuity Scheduling

**DESCRIPTION**\n\nBefore you start reading, keep in mind that the aim of this job ad is to give you a feel for what it’s like to work at Catapult. There’s lots of research which suggests people often don’t apply because of so-called “requirements” in a job description. If you’re an experienced engineer, like the sound of working here and see something you’re not an expert in yet, that’s great, apply and you can learn it here!\n\nWhat you’re getting yourself in for\n\nOur mission is to build the worlds best part time job. We spend our time thinking about how to give a global workforce complete control of their own work life while completely automating the hundreds of thousands of man hours which would normally be required to manage people on this scale.\n\nWe do this through React Native based iOS and Android applications, React based web applications, a mixture of Ruby/ Rails and Phoenix/ Elixir on the backend and Rest API’s to communicate with machine learning services from our data science team.\n\nBusinesses ranging from the largest high-street retailers to five star hotels and and independent coffee boutiques rely on Catapult as their casual workforce. If you’ve spent time in London, you’ve probably been served by a Catapult waiter or sales assistant without even realising it!\n\nOur company values https://writing.joincatapult.com/our-values/ are really important to us and influence every facet of how we work together.\n\nThings we’ve been working on recently\n\nNo two days are ever the same in a startup, but to give you a flavour of what we’ve been up to recently:\n\nBuilding a stand-alone signup service to test different approaches to user on-boarding. We took this as an opportunity to test out Phoenix + GraphQL. We were so impressed with the productivity boost we’re also now incorporating GraphQL into our primary Rails application\nUsing Kubernetes to deploy standalone environments for our feature branches, complete with anonymised production data\nRe-thinking how we test Javascript and what the line should be between unit tests and acceptance tests\nAbout the role\n\nWe’ve been growing rapidly over the last three years and as we start our international roll out, we’re looking for ambitious engineers to help us build the future of work. Our engineering principles https://writing.joincatapult.com/engineering-principles/ give a good feel for how we work together and what we value.\n\nYou’ll be working joining out remote team so working from anywhere in Europe is fine! We work in small cross-functional pods of developers who focus on a particular product area and encourage people to rotate across teams.\n\n**REQUIREMENTS**\n\nWe've found that the best developers are outliers so these are guidelines rather than firm requirements. If you're passionate about building great software, finding the best tools for the job and learning new skills, we'd like to hear from you!\n\nAbout You\n\n* Solid experience developing web or mobile applications commercially\n* You really buy into the importance of getting things into the hands of a user quickly and then iterating\n* You actively think about when to incur technical debt and when to pay it back\n* You like to explore new technologies and have a keen eye for when something new can add real business value\n* Bonus points for Rails, React, Phoenix or GraphQL\n\n**BENEFITS**\n\nAs well as being a part of a well funded startup at one of the most exciting phases of it’s growth, you’ll get:\n\n* Competitive salary + stock options\n* A strong approach to professional development and mentorship, everyone has a dedicated L&D budget for books, training, conferences and the like\n* Product retreats at least every two months where the whole team either comes to London or goes somewhere warm (the next one's in Lisbon!), looks back on how we can improve and then spends a week together hacking on new ideas and exploring new technologies\n* Regular social events & the opportunity to travel to our other offices\n* Company Macbook Pro which you’re free to take home\n* A flexible work environment focused on output not hours\n* 25 days holiday + bank holidays\n

We build industry-leading open source software that brings journalists and the communities they serve closer together.\n\nWe’re looking for a full-stack developer to join our team on a contract basis for at least the next 2-4 months, to help us create amazing user experiences on our open-source comment platform. \n\nYou have strong background in developing Node applications that are secure, scale, play well with other apps and are a pleasure to extend and maintain (or as close to pleasurable as maintenance can be.)\n\nYou’ll architect and implement features, and also have the opportunity to work with teams in newsrooms across the world who are integrating our platform onto their sites. You’ll work either from New York, inside the New York Times, or remotely.\n\nThis is a contractor role beginning asap.\n\nWhat you have:\n\n• Passion for improving the state of comments/community around journalism\n• Strong Node JS application development experience\n• Experience with MongoDB, especially aggregation pipelines\n• Strong communication skills and the ability to work remotely\n\n\nWhat you might have that would be great:\n\n• Experience with GraphQL \n• Use of the Apollo GraphQL client\n• Experience with React and Redux \n• Open Source experience\n\n\nWhat you will do:\n\n• Work in a delivery-based, agile environment, with a supportive, open, and diverse team that is primarily remote\n• Work closely with product and tech stakeholders to deliver on stories, give feedback to team members via code reviews and architectural reviews, and contribute to making the product secure, solid, and user-friendly\n• Participate in video team meetings, such as daily scrums/standups, sprint planning, and estimation sessions\n• Contribute to the architecture of the application, with the goal of making it easy for open source contributors to build plugins and code that make the product sustainable in the long-term\n\nHelp us make the internet a better place for everyone!\n\nIf you’re deeply interested in working on full-stack development and have relevant skills and experience, please consider applying even if your background doesn’t perfectly match our ideal credentials. We are committed to diversity and especially encourage members of underrepresented communities to apply.\n\nThe initial contract will run through October 1st. There is a strong possibility of continuing with the project beyond that date.\n

\nSenior Software Engineer - Core\n\nReaction Commerce is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing core engineering team. As a part of the core team at Reaction Commerce you’ll have the opportunity to help shape the fastest growing open source commerce platform in the world. We’re looking for people who are highly communicative, self-directed, with well developed critical thinking skills.\n\nAs a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be expected to write great code, ship product features independently and with a team, propose architectural recommendations, teach and enforce documentation standards and software design patterns during code reviews,  and participate in the technical interview process. \n\nResponsibilities\n\nAs a senior software engineer at Reaction Commerce, the day to day responsibilities are broad and you’re ultimately responsible for shipping software. While not exhaustive, this is a list of the type of work that we expect you’ll spend the majority of your time on day to day.\n\n\n* Write great code that is well tested and thoroughly documented\n\n* Develop, support, and improve our GraphQL API\n\n* Design, build, and maintain real-time, event-driven systems, services, and features\n\n* Create new components and improve existing components in our React component library\n\n* Teach and enforce software engineering patterns during code reviews\n\n* Work with the architecture team by proposing recommendations, building prototypes, and providing feedback.\n\n* Work with the QA Engineering team to define test patterns and implement and improve CI processes for projects you’re working on.\n\n* Author documentation for development patterns and features\n\n* Actively communicate status of tasks and projects to peers and leadership\n\n\n\n\n\nQualifications\n\nThis list of qualifications are our “hard requirements.” We’ve worked to keep it short and move anything that isn’t truly a requirement into the nice-to-have section. We believe you’ll excel in this role if you have significant experience doing the following:\n\n\n* Writing modern JavaScript/ECMAScript code that is clean, well tested, and thoroughly documented\n\n* Developing, optimizing, and scaling React and/or Node applications in production\n\n* Writing automated tests in JavaScript\n\n* Developing, securing, and consuming an API\n\n* Developing with either relational (e.g. Postgres) or document databases (e.g. MongoDB)\n\n* Communicating complex issues to technical and non-technical people in writing through documentation, proposals, and blog posts.\n\n\n\n\nWe value your knowledge and skills more than an arbitrary amount of experience using any specific technology or a university degree in a specific field. As a Senior Software Engineer, we expect that you’ll have the skills and knowledge that are typically gained working on production applications for many years and studying in a university Computer Science program, but we don’t care how you’ve acquired those skills or how long it took you.\n\nNice to have\n\nReaction is creating the leading commerce platform for enterprise retailers and the world’s first event-driven commerce platform. As we’re working with a lot of newer technology, we don’t expect candidates will necessarily have experience with our entire tech stack. The idea candidate will have deep experience in a few of these technologies, exposure to more, and excitement and capability to learn new skills as necessary.\n\n\n* Designing, developing, documenting, securing, and/or consuming a GraphQL API using Relay or Apollo\n\n* Developing inclusive, accessible applications, including experience with accessibility (a11y), internationalization (i18n), and localization (l10n)\n\n* Using MongoDB at Scale\n\n* Developing event driven applications using software such as Kafka\n\n* Functional programming experience\n\n* Programming in a JVM language such as Clojure, or Scala\n\n* Developing commerce or logistics software\n\n* Developing and deploying containerized applications using Docker and/or Kubernetes\n\n* Developing with Elasticsearch or other search engine technology\n\n* Maintaining or contributing open source projects\n\n* Experience with Kafka\n\n* Experience using Clojure\n\n* Working remotely\n\n\n\n\nCharacteristics\n\nAs a distributed team, building open-source software, we deeply understand that being a great software engineer is much more than just understanding design patterns and having a deep technical skillset. Our culture is one of communication, character, cooperation, and competence and we believe that people who have these foundational characteristics will fit in well and be able to hit the ground running.\n\nWe believe in being inclusive, welcoming, and supportive of anyone who comes to us with the desire to build, collaborate, and lead. To learn more, read our diversity statement.\n\n\n* Motivated, self-starter who can work in a distributed team environment\n\n* Open-minded mentality\n\n* Goal oriented personality\n\n* Empathy for customers, community, and co-workers\n\n* Tendency to teach others what you know and excitement for sharing knowledge\n\n* Growth oriented mindset and a desire to be better today than yesterday\n\n* Desire to deliver an exceptional customer experience\n\n* Critical thinker who will work to solve the right problem\n\n* Cooperative attitude and an ability to pair program effectively with other engineers\n\n* Ability to think holistically for a given project or problem\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\n\n\n* Position:  Full Time\n\n* Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience, stock options, medical and dental benefits\n\n* Location: Americas Time zone\n\n* Hours:\n\n\n\n* ~40-50 hours/week\n\n* Flexible: need to run an errand or have an appointment? Communicate and coordinate with your team and it’s not a problem.\n\n* You’ll be expected to make team meetings and work at least 5 hours/day that overlap with 9AM-5PM Pacific\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBenefits and Perks\n\n\n* 100% coverage for medical, dental, and vision\n\n* Minimum vacation policy & stipends\n\n* Up to 12 weeks for new parent leave\n\n* Stocked kitchen, weekly lunches, and office dogs at Santa Monica HQ\n\n* 401K retirement plan\n\n* Work from anywhere in the world\n\n* Learning stipend for books, classes, or trainings\n\n* Diverse and inclusive culture\n\n* Bi-annual in-person all-hands meetups\n\n\n\n\n\nApplication Process: What to expect\n\nOur application process begins once we receive your application and cover letter. Due to the volume of applicants, we only consider candidates who submit both and application with the required information, along with a detailed cover letter outlining why you want to work at Reaction Commerce. Candidates who don’t submit the necessary information will not be considered.\n\nIf we decide to move forward with your application, we’ll schedule a 30-45 minute screening video call via Zoom to learn more about your interests, talk about the role, and determine if Reaction Commerce is a mutual fit\n\nWe’ll then have a series of technical interviews. The first interview will be a technical conversation where we’ll discuss previous experience and work to uncover how your skill set might fill a need at Reaction Commerce.\n\nFollowing the technical interview we’ll have one or more interviews focused on collaboratively solving problems with members of the engineering team. These interviews will involve writing code in a remote pair-programming type of scenario.\n\nFinally, if appropriate based on location, we’ll conduct an onsite interview so that you’ll have the opportunity to meet key stakeholders on the team. If we can’t do this in person, we’ll arrange it as a video call.\n\nAt the offer stage, you will learn more about compensation, equity range, and benefits. While the entire process can take 4-6 weeks total depending on schedule availability, we’re committed to communicating progress frequently so you won’t be left wondering about the status of your application. We look forward to meeting you!
