\nAbout Us:\n\nAfter witnessing several family members and friends battle cancer, Flatiron Health was founded in 2012 by Nat Turner and Zach Weinberg. Headquartered in New York City, our company is building a disruptive software platform that connects cancer centers across the country to help change the face of cancer.\n\nWe  recently raised $130MM in series B funding from Google Ventures, the second largest investment ever from Google Ventures, behind Uber.  \n\nOur mission is to organize the world’s oncology information and make it useful for patients, physicians, life sciences and researchers. Our team is building a disruptive, oncology-specific software platform that will connect cancer centers across the country on a common technology infrastructure and address key healthcare challenges. Today, our proprietary cloud platform includes the industry-leading electronic medical record for oncology, a first-of-its-kind analytics tool, patient portal, and integrated billing management. Ultimately, our goal is to help cancer centers leverage real-world oncology data, at a scale and clinical depth never before seen, to transform how cancer care is delivered.\n\nAbout You:\n\nThis position primarily focuses on products and services for OncoEMR, our web-based, oncology-specific electronic medical record (EMR) system used by over 1,300 oncology clinicians every day to diagnose, treat and manage patients battling cancer.\n\nThe Software Engineer (.NET) position will play a critical role in the full life cycle of our Oncology EMR - from design and development through ongoing maintenance.  With limited supervision, you will assist in formulating/defining system scope and objectives through discussions, research, and trial and error to develop and refine information systems for use by all levels of the medical staff.  We maintain a Rapid Application Development environment.  If you build a well crafted new feature today, you can observe it in use next week.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\n\n* Be a full-stack developer fluent in VB.NET, ASP.NET, HTML, Javascript, jQuery, CSS, and T-SQL; integrate open-source and 3rd-party libraries, controls, and solutions into a web application.\n\n* Track the performance of all the components you write, including execution times and memory usage on clients and servers in multithreaded concurrent-user production environments; master application server and SQL query optimization.\n\n* Maintain and help support the code base. You won’t be throwing your code over the fence for others to debug, maintain, and support. It’s yours for the duration. All of our engineers are on call for a few hours each week providing a technical resource for the Support department.\n\n* Stay focused, productive, and engaged in a remote environment.\n\n\n\n\nRequirements:\n\n\n* Have extensive experience with the tools and technology used to develop and deploy web-based applications in the Microsoft environment, including IIS, Visual Studio 2012, ASP.Net, and VB.Net\n\n* 3+ years of experience writing rich-client web applications using Javascript, jQuery, or other client-side scripting frameworks\n\n* Be an expert in writing, tuning and troubleshooting MS SQL queries\n\n* Proven ability to work individually or as part of a team to solve technical problems\n\n* Excellent written and verbal communication skills\n\n* Self-motivated, self starters\n\n\n\n\nBonus Points:\n\n\n* Previous experience working in the Healthcare industry\n\n* Previous experience working in a VLDB environment\n\n* Previous experience working remotely\n\n* Familiarity with modern programming frameworks, models, and architectural patterns such as Agile/Scrum\n\n\n

We build systems that clean, structure and understand clinical-level patient data as we build the largest, most comprehensive set of oncology data intelligence. We scale pipelines to handle the world's oncology data with creative engineering solutions to open-ended oncology data problems.\n\nOur data\n\nOur data pipeline takes in full clinical patient records and produces normalized, high-fidelity, queryable data that is ready to be mined for medical and operational insights. We’ve built a unified data set that is unparalleled in its depth and accuracy, and which gives our partners the capability to ask questions about data that weren't answerable until now.\n\nOur culture\n\nWe work in a fast-paced, high-information-volume environment with complex domain challenges, which means context is key and there's always more to learn and soak up. We want to know oncology data cold — better than anyone else in the industry — and we believe doing so requires building a culture where we all like coming to work each day. In our culture, decisions are transparent and data-driven, and people are empowered to make waves.\n\n\nBackend Software Engineer\n\nAre you interested in building elegant and scalable systems to help our customers unleash the power of their data?\n\nAs a Backend Software Engineer you will:\n\n\n* Design and implement backend components: services, data stores, infrastructure, instrumentation, and deployment\n\n* Continuously ship new features for our cloud based infrastructure\n\n* Write simple, elegant, testable code\n\n* Drive improvements to our backend infrastructures\n\n\n\n\nAbout you:\n\n\n* You hold a BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or related field\n\n* You have strong backend experience with languages like Python, C++ or Java\n\n* You have a good understanding of online relational databases like Postgresql, MySQL or MSSQL.\n\n* You are passionate about performance, reliability, and scalability of systems\n\n\n\n\n\nFull Stack Software Engineer\n\nAre you interested in using modern web technologies to help our customers unleash the power of their data?\n\nAs a Full Stack Software Engineer you will:\n\n\n* Design and implement intuitive web interfaces to make complex data accessible and useful\n\n* Continuously ship new features for our cloud applications, from the backend to the frontend\n\n* Write simple, elegant, testable code\n\n* Drive improvements to our backend and frontend infrastructure\n\n\n\n\nAbout you:\n\n\n* You hold a BS or MS in computer science or related field\n\n* You have strong frontend web experience with JS, HTML, and CSS\n\n* You have strong backend experience with languages like Python, Ruby or Java, and SQL databases\n\n* You are passionate about empowering users and our mission to improve healthcare through technology\n\n\n\n\nBonus points if you…\n\n\n* Contribute to open source projects\n\n* Have developed apps using modern frontend frameworks like AngularJS / Ember.js\n\n* Have experience in user experience design or user experience research\n\n\n\n\n\nData Software Engineer\n\nDo you want to synthesize data into knowledge?\n\nAs a Data Software Engineer you will:\n\n\n* Write useful and impactful software\n\n* Design and build our data infrastructure, and use it to develop extensible, robust data pipelines\n\n* Build tools and infrastructure for easy, accessible and flexible data analysis\n\n* Iteratively develop, operationalize and monitor machine-assisted and statistical solutions to problems\n\n\n\n\nAbout you:\n\n\n* You hold a BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or engineering\n\n* You write clean, well-structured, production-quality code in Python, C++ or Java\n\n* You have built and deployed large-scale data processing pipelines\n\n* You seek simple approaches to complex problems\n\n* You are passionate about our mission to improve healthcare through technology\n\n\n\n\nBonus points if you…\n\n\n* Have a strong understanding of statistics\n\n* Have developed distributed data processing systems against large, heterogeneous data sets\n\n* Understand experimental design, and can build for collection, measurement and interpretation of results\n\n\n
