Must be friendly, patient, and willing to help with a broad range of tasks.\n\n* Assists Lead Web Developer with complex, day-to-day software development progress. Assists team with solutions to bottlenecks as well as support to maintain a consistent workflow.\n\n* Works with vendors to set technical specifications of web projects.\n\n* Manages underlying system architecture, researches and recommends options for improving performance such as scalability, caching and error/exception handling. Offers solutions to maximize technology to create an easily maintainable/updateable stable environment.\n\n* Works with Best Friends technical team members to maintain core Best Friends Information Systems (40%) and Design, Develop and Test System Enhancements (60%).\n\n* System enhancement projects are typically long term in scope, and requires consistency in design and coding throughout the development cycle. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented with strong competency in task/time and scope management.\n\n* Creates and delivers technical and user documentation and training.\n\n* Requires significant interaction with other Best Friends departments, particularly non-technical staff. Excellent communication skills and above average professionalism are necessary for this position.\n\n* Other duties as assigned.\n\n\n

\nPosition Summary: \n\nProject Management:\n\nResponsible for all aspects of Project Management for System Engineering and technology Infrastructure related projects, including Data Center, Network Infrastructure, Servers Environment, System Architecture, and System Design projects. Responsibilities include, collecting and documenting technical system and business requirements. Ensures the successful on-time, on-budget delivery of these projects. Responsibilities include, determining project scope, timelines, tracking project progress and measuring outcomes.\n\nCollaborates with internal departments, project stakeholders, and vendors to ensure proper alignment to project strategy, budget and objectives.  Provides progress reports to the IT Director, Infrastructure, Security and Operations and works closely with both Network and System Engineers.\n\nSystem Engineering:\n\nResponsible for System Engineering work to monitor, analyze and maintains Microsoft Servers in virtualized VMware server environment. Develops and maintains recovery strategies and procedures. Installs and tests operating system patches and upgrades using proper change management procedures. Requires thorough understanding and working experience, including maintaining, installing, monitoring and performance tuning of Enterprise class servers, medium to large-scale Windows server 2008/2012, and VMware Vsphere environments are required.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\n\n* Project Management (40%):  Working with IT Director, Infrastructure, Security and Operations, to manage assigned technical projects and project management as needed. Coordinate/manage projects between technical and non-technical staff and organizational departments.  Analyze business technical service needs and propose solutions.  Plans and manage the technical implementation of necessary technical solutions.\n\n\n\n\n\n* System Engineering (30%): Responsible for System Engineering, in coordinating and scheduling the installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems in conjunction with technical projects. Participates in and leads technical projects providing guidelines and technical guidance for system administration and system security.\n\n\n\n\n\n* Project Initiation (10%):  Assists in developing project requests with necessary project scope, requirements and funding. Determining requirements and timelines for approval and prioritization by the IT Director and IT Governance Committee.  Collects and documents requirements, business processes and use cases to ensure project meets business needs. \n\n\n\n\n\n* Project Execution (15%):  Develop project charters and plans specifying goals, strategy, dependencies, staffing, scheduling, risk management/contingency plans, communication plans and allocation of resources.  Build the work breakdown structure including scheduled deliverables and project milestones.  Manage functional and technology resources towards achievement of project goals and timelines, holding them accountable for deliverables.  Manage project risk and issues taking corrective action where required. \n\n\n\n\n\n* Change Management (5%):  Develop formal change plans based on project impacts. Assist System Engineering, Network Engineering and other technology personnel in managing change across the organization. \n\n\n

\nCome work in a warm and relaxed environment among the red rocks of Southern Utah!  We are adding to our amazing IT team and have 2 openings for Business Intelligence Software Engineers. \n\nPosition Summary: The Business Intelligence (BI) Software Engineer’s role is to strategically design and implement BI software and systems, including integration with databases and data warehouses. This includes selecting, blueprinting, gathering requirements, designing, and rolling out BI solutions to end users. The Business Intelligence Software Engineer is also responsible for ensuring high levels of BI availability through support functions and in-depth testing.  The BI Software Engineer  will be responsible for setting the technical direction of BI projects within the framework of Enterprise Data Architecture.  The BI Software Engineer will also provide mentoring and guidance in best practices to other members of the Enterprise Data team.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nStrategy and Planning (10%)\n\n\n* Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for BI development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.\n\n\n\n\nAcquisition and Deployment (10%)\n\n\n* Conduct research and make recommendations on BI products, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts. \n\n* Evaluate and select database/data warehouse components, including hardware, relational database management systems, ETL software, metadata management tools, and database design solutions.\n\n\n\n\nOperational Leadership (30%) \n\n\n* Direct, organize, and lead projects in the implementation and use of new BI software tools and systems. \n\n* Lead the integration efforts for merging BI platforms with enterprise systems and applications. \n\n* Work with project managers to ensure that data entry, retrieval, change, and delete functions meet business requirements for project completion. \n\n* Conduct job duties and responsibilities according to the organization’s business systems development methodology and/or its Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology. \n\n* Monitor alerts and troubleshoot BI tools, systems, and software; performance-tune these applications as necessary. \n\n* Act as evangelist for BI benefits across the organization; promote BI usage to relevant departments.\n\n* Mentor and/or provide leadership to junior members of the team.\n\n\n\n\nEngineering (40%) \n\n\n* Design, code, test, and document all new or modified BI systems, applications, and programs. \n\n* Develop the semantic layer, metadata, reports, and report definitions.  Develop graphs, dashboards, and portal interfaces.\n\n* Design databases, data models, data marts, and data warehouses. \n\n* Analyze user requirements and, based upon findings, design functional solutions. \n\n* Design and deliver end-user training and training materials; provide technical support as necessary.\n\n* Build specifications for BI front-end applications based upon user requirements. \n\n* Produce ETL design guidelines to ensure a manageable ETL infrastructure for the BI system.  \n\n\n\n\nInformation Security (10%) \n\n\n* Develop, test, and implement best practices within the BI ecosystem to ensure sensitive information is protected and only available to those with a need and the appropriate approved access to view the information.\n\n\n
