About SurveyMonkey

SurveyMonkey is the world's leading provider of web-based survey solutions, and we’re looking to transform the way people make decisions. We're a smart, passionate group of people who work hard to deliver the best survey experiences on the planet, period. We believe everyone deserves easy access to the information and insights they need to make great decisions.

We're also proud to admit that despite our incredible growth over the past 17 years, we refuse to grow up. We stay curious. We believe in good ol’ roll-up-your-sleeves scrappiness. Everyone plays an impactful role, because we’re here to make a difference. And when we say good ideas can come from anyone, we mean it.

SurveyMonkey is trusted by millions of customers, including 99% of the Fortune 500, as well as other businesses, academic institutions and organizations of all shapes and sizes. We collect over 3 million survey responses daily from people in all countries around the world.

Our Team

Our 8-person team is responsible for a key part of SurveyMonkey’s business strategy: it’s our job to build SurveyMonkey’s portfolio of SaaS business solutions and make them great. It’s challenging, exciting, and rewarding.

We have a unique and successful content-creation product (TechValidate), a brand-new product for measuring customer happiness (SurveyMonkey CX), and more on the drawing board (all built on Ruby on Rails, btw). We also create the marketing websites for our products. Working on our team feels like being part of a startup (without the 80-hour weeks) but backed by the resources of a larger profitable company.

Our team is geographically distributed (5 in the Bay Area, 3 elsewhere), and this is a remote-friendly position.

We strive for excellence in our work, but with all the opportunities on our plate, product and UX design have become bottlenecks. That’s where you come in.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a talented senior UX/product designer who enjoys working on small teams. If you have experience designing SaaS applications, like working closely with developers, and relish designing how a product should work just as much as you enjoy designing what it looks like, we should talk.'

As mentioned above, we have an exciting roadmap for our two existing products, but we also have another product on the drawing board for 2017. Depending on your interest and abilities, you'll be able to either contribute across our product line, or focus on one of our products as the lead designer and de-facto product manager. There are no dedicated product managers on our team – we all contribute to defining what our products are and how they will work. As a designer, you will have an outsized influence in this process. More specifically, you will:

  • Collaborate closely with our Director of Design, engineers, and stakeholders in an iterative and feedback-driven process.
  • Design beautiful and engaging user interfaces according to user needs, business requirements and technical constraints.
  • Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes
  • Write UI copy
  • Potentially manage and mentor junior designers
  • Potentially contribute to our CSS framework

This position has the opportunity to work remote -- those of us who are in the Bay Area work in the office one day per week, but we also have team members who are fully remote.

    Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years experience as a professional designer
  • Experience designing desktop and mobile SaaS interfaces
  • Experience in front-end development (HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript). You don’t have to implement in this role, but you should be technically grounded.
  • A eye for detail and a real passion for great usability and aesthetics.
  • You’re not overly attached to your own designs – you are open to feedback from all team members to find the best solution.
  • A strong portfolio featuring relevant work examples
  • You know Sketch like the back of your hand
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills

    How We Work

Some of our team is fully remote, but those of us who are in the SF bay area meet once a week at the TechValidate office in Emeryville. If you are also in the SF bay area, you can work out of the office as frequently as you like.

At SurveyMonkey, we offer competitive salaries, medical/dental benefits, PTO, 401k, paid holidays, and equity compensation.

SurveyMonkey is an equal opportunity employer.

Candidate Guidance:

1- This job can be done remotely, however we prefer someone who is based in Europe, North America, or South America.

2 - This a part-time / Project based freelance role.  This is not a full-time position.

3- Please do NOT apply if you you do not have a growing list of Web SaaS product design / artifacts in your portfolio that you can share.

4-We ALREADY have a talented UX team... what we need more of are folks skilled in reading through detailed user interviews and extracting key product design requirements and then translating those into artifacts that can be used by UX and Front End Developers.

Project Brief:
We are designing a modern Web SaaS application for Enterprise customers designed to radically improve alignment, innovation, and organizational performance.  This product is NOT a task management system or project management system.. it is a system inspired by several goal setting methodologies, but is in it's own right a complete re-invention of how to foster goal alignment and achievement in large companies.  We are not building a tool for just tracking goals, but a platform for fostering rich learning  interactions designed to accelerate a companies bottom line while also helping employees succeed at work.

Our Existing Design Research
We have conducted 12-15 intense design research sessions to uncover a new approach to goal setting and alignment that overcomes the ways large companies typically organize and make decisions.

Each of these design sessions has produced documented conversations approaching 15,000-20,000 words each.  These notes informally document a wide ranging set of features and micro-interactions as well as UX and business rules that need to be captured in a more formal set of design artifacts we can share with developers.

Deliverable's Required
We seek a VERY savvy Product / BA /  System designer who both understands and is highly skilled in capturing product and system level requirements in a variety of forms including:  User Stories, Use Cases, Wire Frames, User Flows, etc.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working MAINLY with our transcripts and powerpoint deck.  From this informal documentation we want you to extract all the critical information required to develop a complete set of product design artifacts.  This will include you helping us write detailed user stories in collaboration with our UX/UI team so that our Front-End developers can work at maximum speed and effectiveness.

DESCRIPTION

Travis CI is looking for a user interface and experience designer in US and EU timezones.

Travis CI is a continuous integration product that helps developers test and deploy their software with confidence. We are headquartered in Berlin, Germany with over half the company working remotely. As a company we are committed to openness, diversity, collaboration, and empathy.

As a designer at Travis CI, you will work closely with our Lead Designer and with our product team members, helping them create usable and engaging designs and user experiences. As part of our Platform Development team you’ll learn the challenges we face creating an environment for users to get their jobs done with our product. Using your experience as a designer, you’ll work with developers to make changes and add features to our product UI.

More about Travis CI:

Travis CI is a continuous integration platform: We run people's tests, deploy their code and help them be confident about their work.

We have strong roots in open source, both in our community and how Travis CI was built. We continue to support the open source community wherever we can.

Travis CI is run as a hosted service, free for open source, and a paid product for private code. It's also available as an on-premises version (Travis CI Enterprise).

We're a small, bootstrapped business headquartered in Berlin, Germany, with a team distributed across Europe and the Americas. Our goal is to help people build better software. Travis CI is profitable, and we're building a sustainable business for the long run.

Our team values working at a healthy pace and a normal working day over working extreme hours. We encourage self-care and personal time to be taken. Empathy is one of our core values as a team and company, towards each other, and our customers.

We foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning. If something's worth fixing or improving, it should be fixed or improved. Making mistakes is part of what we do, and we make sure we have each other's backs and learn from them. At Travis CI, we value diversity in all aspects of our team. We value everyone's questions, insights and feedback. We devote time to help our customers, the open source community, diversity in software development and to help our local communities. Most importantly, we thrive to help and support each other.

Travis CI seeks to increase the ratio of women in software engineering and development, and we encourage women and people from underrepresented groups to apply for this position.

Travis CI is striving to be a diverse team, made of and built by people with different backgrounds and lifestyles. We don't discriminate based on race, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, age, religion, color, or any other group.

----

REQUIREMENTS

At Travis CI we treat our users with empathy and care. We’re passionate about building and maintaining a tool that helps people work efficiently and would expect you to have these qualities as well. We encourage cross-team collaboration and this role will require someone who loves teamwork and is willing to work closely with different stakeholders.

We’re looking for someone who loves crafting purpose driven, clean designs. This individual would ideally have experience in and passion for user experience. The role of this designer position will need someone with the ability to solve problems creatively and effectively, with empathy of our diverse user base.

Qualifications:

You enjoy working in a team and brainstorming with others. You are able to see the big picture of the product and work towards finding creative solutions to improve it. You’ve had at least two years of professional experience in UX/UI design. Creating wireframes, user flows/stories, process flows, is already part of your personal toolkit. Ideally you are proficient in Adobe Illustrator and other Adobe Suite programs.

A BFA or MFA degree in art or design related fields such as: Ad Graph, Interactive, and New Media design would be a nice-to-have, but no must-have. We rely on tools like GitHub and InvisionApp to keep our work transparent and accessible to others in the company, and it would be great if you had experience using those programs. Since more than half of our company is working remotely, we’d like you to have experience working with distributed teams. Though our workdays can be flexible, this position requires overlapping hours with US/EU timezones (extra bonus points if you’re located somewhere in The Americas). You must be fluent in English for this position.

Most of all we’re looking for someone who understands that design isn’t about making things pretty on the surface. We want someone who knows design is about making products easier to use and functional for a broad range of users.

----

BENEFITS

Being a distributed team, you can work from wherever you want. You don’t have to go to Berlin, but we’re happy to fly you in to meet and work with the team.

You choose your working hours. We understand life comes with responsibilities and complications. We have families and personal lives and we encourage all our builders to spend time tending to them.

Minimum paid leave per year is 25 days.

Your health insurance is partially covered by Travis CI. We’ll generally split about 50/50 between employer and employee, no matter where you are. US based employees are offered a generous benefits package which includes healthcare, 401k, commuter, and other pre-tax benefits through the co-employment organization we partner with.

We’ll ship you a Kindle and give you a book allowance so you can take time off and read.

You’ll learn and grow at conferences, we’ll pay for travel and ticket costs.

(Also, we really f**king love building kickass products.)

If you’re a Product Manager interested in being part of a constantly evolving team, with the freedom to travel and work remotely, keep reading.

Melewi is building a team of kickass product designers and managers to be based anywhere on the globe (your working time should have an overlap of at least 2pm — 8pm GMT +8).

We work with exciting startups from around the world and also with international brands like Visa, Samsung and McDonald’s.

We’ll have fun, learn as we go, and create some damn amazing work! This is your opportunity to learn, create, and work towards your big goals, whatever they may be. We give a lot of trust to the right people, and that means you’ll find yourself often in the driver’s seat, helping us steer the company towards greatness.

What does working with us look like?

  • We’re agile & always learning — We toss what doesn’t work and improve what does. We believe that there is no ‘best’, only ‘better’.

  • We’re flat & lean — Communication is open between everyone regardless of position, gender, age or nationality; suggestions for improvement are open to all, and there’s no gap between “management” and “staff”.

  • We’re ambitious & proactive — We’ve got big dreams, and we work hard and fast (and yes, we break things) to achieve it. Taking initiative is the standard. The business is in everyone’s hands, not just a select few.

  • We’re flexible — While we don’t compromise on the important things (work, culture, attitude, progress), we leave the less important things up to you (like where you want to work from, what you wear, and what times you want to work (with some stipulations)).

  • We’re in this together and most of all, we’re fun! — We’re aligned in our values, vision and goals and work together as a family. Work takes up too much of your life to not enjoy what you do. While we take our work seriously, lots of laughing can be expected too. ☺

What does the right person look like?

You’ll have prior working experience in building tech products (webapps / mobile apps), as well as the need to be constantly learning and growing.

You should have a extensive knowledge of business, UX, UI and programming in order to manage the projects well.

We’re keen to find someone with experience in startups, as well as someone who’s familiar with lean & agile working methodologies.

You’ll be responsible, proactive, innovative, eager to learn, and meticulous. A good sense of humour is a must. And if you’re the type to bring tasty treats to share, we welcome you with open arms!

What skills and traits are we looking for?

  • A strong background of at least 2 years in as a product manager.
  • A thorough understanding of what makes a great product (lean biz canvas, MVP, value proposition, USP, user personas, etc.).
  • Experienced in how to build + manage a team to build an awesome product.
  • Start-up minded.
  • Experience working with lean and agile methodologies, as well as the ability to adapt to various processes (we’re constantly trying to improve our processes and are open to change, so you’d have to be too!).
  • The ability to manage multiple projects (2 to 3), and also to work closely with the team, clients and contractors.
  • Possesses great presentation and communication skills.
  • Takes initiative, and is a self-starter.
  • An awesome attitude + no ego + team-player (no lone wolves).
  • Constantly learning and sharing knowledge + seeks out & appreciates feedback.

Interested? Check out our Melewi values to see more about what we stand for and live by.

    ---

Melewi is a travelling UX UI design studio working with passionate people and companies from around the world.

We live to make users, product and business make sense together. An excellent user experience means thinking hard about how to make your product work so your users don’t have to.

Conference calls with clients located around the world are just another day at the office for us — wherever that may be. We work remotely from Singapore, India, USA, Greece, Philippines, Brazil, Denmark, and anywhere a plane can take us.

Melewi was started by Melissa Ng in 2013. She’s a nomad, entrepreneur, and designer from Singapore, working from wherever the next plane takes her.

  • Tiago Gerstheimer — Our house-music-loving, literal gypsy (by blood) budding UI designer.

Sick of seeing businesses wasting huge piles of cash by building “trendy” websites that just don’t work? Or websites using awful fake stock photos that put people off?

The list goes on, and on, and on… We call it bad marketing.

Slices Consulting started in 2015 to fight bad marketing online. It was founded by Louis Grenier, a no-nonsense digital marketer, in Dublin, Ireland. It is 100% self-funded.

We help businesses to boost their online sales by making the most out of their website visitors (whether they want generate more sales or more leads). To use some marketing lingo: we do conversion optimisation, customer journey optimisation, website personalisation and other fun stuffs.

1) Do you want to fight bad marketing? Good marketing is authentic and relevant. Good marketing doesn’t feel like marketing. We fight against misleading practices, buzzwords, and we don’t follow our competition’s every move…

2) Do you want to make the web better, one website at a time? A website works when it fulfils a purpose. It doesn't have to be "beautiful". It doesn't have to follow trends. Only website visitors can judge a website.

3) Do you start by listening to people to create the right experience? We don’t use our ego. We use science to determine something is working better than another.

4) Do you believe you can deliver incredible value from anywhere? This is why we are hiring remotely. You can choose to work from the comfort of your home, from a co-working space, or on-the-go. Wherever in the World.

We are looking for a talented UX Designer who believes in the same values, and who wants to fight the same battles. You will join our team as our second employee, everywhere in the World. If it sounds like you, apply today.

If you don't believe in the same values, this position is not for you.

You will be working with businesses relying on their website to generate sales or leads. Your objective will be to make their website experience a delight for visitors to use so our clients can generate more leads or sales with the same traffic.

If you have experience as a UX Designer with the right personality for this position (empathic, honest, passionate), apply today. Don't wait. It's going to be fun.

Your role will consist of:

  • understanding people by asking the right questions and using a proven process (tools include heatmaps, polls, surveys, etc…)
  • developing personas,
  • developing storyboards and scenarios,
  • creating wireframes,
  • testing those wireframes with real people before implementing them,
  • iterating and testing again,
  • liaising with clients, contractors, stakeholders.

Some of the projects you will be leading include:

  • user-centred website design and redesign,
  • customer journey optimisation,
  • landing page design,
  • initial user experience research,
  • and many more!

    Benefits:

  • Every day, you will be fighting bad marketing.
  • You will gain experience by working with blue chip companies and interesting startups in a wide range of industries.

  • You will be able to work from anywhere with flexible working hours.
  • You will be paid well. Generous compensation based on previous experience, family situation, location and other factors using a proven formula (PayScale.com for example). Example for Ireland: starts at €23,000/year for Beginner.

Repable powers data-informed decision making for streamers and eSports athletes. Our passion is gaming, and we're constantly flipping back and forth between hard work and quick bursts of Overwatch, Hearthstone, League & other games. We usually have Azubu, Twitch or YouTube live streaming in the background. Our expertise is in analytics & data, and we're pooling on that knowledge to change the way the gaming industry operates.

This is a front-end development position, working closely with the back-end, product management and UI/UX design team members. Your will primarily be creating and developing user interfaces for gamers using our platform. They'll rely on the UI to make decisions about their weekly gameplay, and will make those decisions based on how you present data to them. We want someone passionate about UI/UX, who understands that development is a series of problem solving exercises to fulfill user goals.

This position requires prior experience. You're ideally not straight out of a programming boot camp, unless you were among the best in your class. You may need to create assets from time to time, but you'll be focusing largely on the development side of our user experience, onboarding and dashboards.

We’re a small team based out of Toronto, ON but are looking for like-minded individuals to grow with us within North America. You don't need to live in Canada to be eligible for this position, but we'd prefer it if you were.

What your first year will look like:

  • You'll be constantly working with our UI/UX designer to iterate on and implement design concepts. As such, you won't need to spend a lot of time in asset-creation land (unless you want to), but rather in the code itself.
  • You'll guide the front-end vision of the company by choosing the languages and frameworks that we use, and make sure that they can scale with us appropriately.
  • You'll be making data-informed decisions, and will share tasks in the artful balance between putting your code out in the wild and tracking it to understand if it's working as intended.
  • You'll hit your head against the limitations of beautiful email mail-outs. More on that during the interview.

    Requirements:

  • The standard stuff you'd expect to see in any front-end position. CSS, HTML, frameworks, etc. You know what those things are and how to use them.
  • You understand how to present data to users, and the technical ramifications of your methods. This is a VERY vast topic, and you'll be expected to speak intelligently about it.
  • Worked in startups before. You understand the intricacies of working with a small team, and are ready to do it all over again.

    Qualifications:

Experience: 1 to 4 years experience in a similar role.
    Language: English
  • We substantially prefer experience over academia.

    Skills:

User Interface, Design User Experience, Data Visualization, Analytics, HTML, CSS

    Perks:

  • Work with people who have done this before
  • A competitive startup salary
  • Stock options - a part of this company could be yours
  • Grow the early stage of a company

Repable powers data-informed decision making for streamers and eSports athletes.  Our passion is gaming, and we're constantly flipping back and forth between hard work and quick bursts of Overwatch, Hearthstone, League & other games.  We usually have Azubu, Twitch or YouTube live streaming in the background.  Our expertise is in analytics & data, and we're pooling on that knowledge to change the way the gaming industry operates.

You make things look amazing.  That’s what you do.  You have a fundamental understanding of why sites like Lever, Buffer, KISSMetrics, Slack, Hall and RescueTime look great and work well.  You also appreciate the concept of designing with data, knowing when to use numbers to inform your decisions, and when to go with your gut.

You aim to balance creativity with analysis & development, and look for cultures that respects design.  That being said, you've worked enough to know how painful the balance between shipping and perfection is.  Some say "design is beautiful.", but you know better, and believe "done is beautiful."

We’re a small team based out of Toronto, ON but are looking for like-minded individuals to grow with us within North America.  You don't need to live in Canada to be eligible for this position, but we'd prefer it if you were.

What Your First Year Will Look Like:

• You will be designing user interfaces, site flows and user flows for our product offerings.
• Our users will rely on your UI to make important decisions regarding their playing habits.  You'll know how to display data to them in a way that they immediately understand.
• Given that we’re working with gamers with limited technical knowledge, the UI needs to be clean to use and easy to follow.

You love being challenged to build interfaces from the ground up, and that’s what this position requires.  Your responsibilities will revolve around taking back-end developer output (API data) and turning it into works of UI art.

Requirements:

Our internet-based technology company based in Phoenix and Orlando is looking for a full time U/I and U/X designer with strong CSS/JavaScript skills and an very strong eye towards modern interactive design to help us create a better user experience for our existing application.

Qualified candidates must understand and care deeply about the purpose of our proprietary application and various types of users that utilize this valuable tool. Each screen must be designed with the specific user and their needs and capabilities in mind, not in the candidate's own personal design aptitude. Candidates must be able to express a Zen sense of minimalism that considers the necessity of every element on a page to determine whether each element directly contributes to achieving the goal of the page.

Candidates must push management to simplify the application versus management pushing them.

Candidates must be able to create usable interfaces for both experienced and one-time users and understand their needs are vastly different. Also, candidates must be able to build a U/I a user can use without little of no instruction and without confusion. Candidates must want to step-up and take ownership of the user interface and take pride in its successes and be willing to take responsibility for its weaknesses understanding the design will constantly evolve and must always improve.

Our company is looking to take our application to the 'next level' and we want a candidate who is self-managed and always pushing for progress without the need for constant supervision. As a leader of the design of this application, the candidate we select will be joining a team with two backend developers and a small sales staff. This candidate must be able to balance the requests from sales with the programmers ability to deliver features and functions that do not negatively impact the user experience.

Lastly, the ideal candidate should be the kind of person who could name famous designers in your field that you follow or want to emulate rather than the type who lives in a bubble of his own personal design ego. During the interview process, the candidates should be able to discuss their inspirational leaders and discuss what I is about them that impresses you most.

If you feel you have the requisite skills and experience for the position, and have a portfolio of work you would like to share, please email us jobs@allresnet.com

UX / UI Designers Wanted!

We’re looking for passionate UX practitioners and UI designers who want to make the web a better place. We want someone who enjoys simplifying designs, making apps easy to use, and can intelligently explain their design decisions to non-designers.

Specifically, the following attributes are major positives, but not all are hard requirements:

  • Experience working with clients or other stakeholders directly. A people person.
  • Doesn’t mind a bit of travel, averaging every couple of months
  • Has strong opinions about the best UX practices
  • Familiar with all the best wire-framing and prototyping tools
  • Has experience specifically designing apps for the web or mobile devices
  • A keen eye for the proper use of type, space, and color
  • Designs beautiful interfaces that people want to touch
  • Can write HTML, CSS, and Less or Sass
  • Not afraid of the command line (even if you don't use it much)

We also expect that you're proficient in many or all of the standard tools for web design, stuff like: Adobe CS or Sketch, Axure / InVision, Git/Github, Bootstrap / Foundation / Flexbox, so on and so forth...

We’re a team of 30ish designers and developers located around the US, Canada, and even Chile. This is a remote position, but due to travel requirements we are only considering US or Canada-based designers.

Design the Future
You’ll work with clients to design applications by researching their needs, sifting through data, creating mockups and interactive prototypes, designing a perfectly polished UI, or tracking usability studies to double-check your work. The end result is a beautiful app that's dead simple to use.

In addition to client work, you’ll have the opportunity to shape a small and growing company by applying your talent and passion towards an area of interest. Bitovi's designers:

  • Speak at conferences
  • Give trainings
  • Run meetups
  • Maintain open source projects
  • Write articles

Benefits
  • Competitive salary and annual bonuses
  • Company retreats (previously in Scottsdale, Milwaukee, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Amelia Island)
  • 401(k) plan with matching
  • 4 weeks paid vacation
  • Health and dental insurance
  • Gym membership reimbursement
  • Maternity/paternity leave
  • Work from home

To apply: Send your resume and a thoughtful introduction to designjobs@bitovi.com. In your intro, tell us three reasons why you're perfect for this role. Focus on your past work and experience, and point us to some recent work. If you have any specific salary requirements or other conditions, make sure to include those as well!

About You

You understand good UX and good UI and what that means.

You love to create successful designs (that delight customers).

You can successfully bring a whole concept from idea to wireframe, to mockup/prototype (and ideally to HTML/CSS as well).

You're great with clients, whether it's the CTO or a company's executive assistant.

You have visible and amazing accomplishments (ideally in web and mobile environments).

You're ready for a long-term fit with the flexibility to create your best work, again and again.

About Clevertech

15 years developing apps has taught us this: Build people, then products.

We’re aware that solid engineering practices and our love of Agile principles aren’t enough to ensure that we translate our clients’ dreams into software that shapes the world.

Our team of nearly 100 developers and designers are what make it possible.

They’ve rejected offers from Google and Twitter. They’re parents, travelers, or aspiring entrepreneurs. Some are in the planning stages of launching their own startups. Here’s what they have in common:

They’re all invested in becoming better together and we support their constant learning.

For more on how we do this, check out why.clevertech.biz. Some of the great things we do together are captured in cleverte.ch/bloomberg and visualcaptcha.net. We're also proud to be one of FlexJob's 100 Top Companies to Watch for Remote Jobs in 2016. The list goes on!

About the Job

At Clevertech, we understand why it’s great to be part of the gig economy—we also understand some of the challenges it can present.

By offering ongoing, full-time roles, we eliminate the burnout and guesswork involved in being a contract worker. We’re also interested in making it possible for our team to focus on what they do best. Busy work that gets in the way of high-quality code is our worst enemy!

Here’s how it works:

* We work with quality clients who have brilliant ideas they want to scale, scale, scale :)
* Schedules are flexible—you work when you're in flow, from wherever you wish
* You focus on one client at a time; when you're finished with one, we provide another
* We use the latest tools and streamline every workflow imaginable
* Everyone on our team shares your culture, irrespective of where they are physically

If you're not a native English speaker, people often mistake you as such.

Summary:

The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior/Lead UX Designer to help build features that enable our communities to achieve our Vision: a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge.

UX Designers at Wikipedia design and build features, products and services used by hundreds of millions of people around the world every day. This is an opportunity to ‘do good’ while having a high level of impact at a large-scale media property.

You will join the Discovery Department, where we focus on improving the searchability and visibility of content that already exists on Wikipedia and our sister projects. You’ll be supporting teams that work on exciting open source technologies, such as ElasticSearch, OpenStreetMaps, and Wikidata Query Service. These teams are working on ambitious projects that are transforming the way users find and interact with Wikipedia.

The Wikimedia Foundation is an equal opportunity employer, and we encourage people with a diverse range of backgrounds to apply. We also welcome remote and international applicants across all timezones.

As a Senior/Lead UX Designer, we’d like you to do these things:

  • Provide technical and personnel management and leadership for a team of 2 designers including hiring, personal development, goal-setting and general support.

  • Mentor junior designers on all aspects of UX design

  • Create experiences that go beyond good design into delighting users.

  • See features through, from idea on paper to implementation. Work with designers, developers, community members, and product managers to help drive product roadmaps with your ideas.

  • Work with our growing team of designers to create reusable design patterns which span desktop, tablet and phone.

  • Be passionate about content discovery and all its aspects, from search, to maps, to complex query engines.

  • Interact with our reader and editor communities from the beginning to end of your design process. Be active in soliciting feedback from both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Distill complex concepts into easy to understand talking points to effectively articulate your vision with your team and the community. Illustrate your designs with lightweight specs or living documents to engage with developers.

  • Occasionally provide design-related support for other functional teams. Mentor junior designers and share knowledge with non-design staff to raise the overall level of design fluency within the organization.

  • Have a creative vision of your own while being able to work within the bounds of what is possible, and imagine what can come next.

  • Reduce, simplify, distill. Know how to let go. Create experiences that are effortless for users by reducing UI complexity down to its essential components.

Full time remote position, 40 hrs/week
We want to grow our product team by adding an accomplished visual designer with skills in both interface and user-experience design. (We wanted to grow our product team by sprinkling it with plant food, but that only upset people, so now we’re trying this.)

About You
First and foremost, you’re a problem solver - whether you’re identifying user goals, designing and redesigning an interface to perfection, or building a really complicated IKEA armoire, you love a good challenge. When you’re confronted with ideas as devilishly complex and messy as a big ball of Christmas lights, you know how to untangle them to create something straightforward, simple, and only a moderate fire hazard.

When it comes to our app, that means crafting an interface that makes the user experience as simple, enjoyable, and rewarding as possible, one iteration at a time. (Because nothing is ever perfect - except, of course, Comic Sans.) Like Tony Robbins speaking into a mirror, you’re self-motivated - you proudly take ownership of your work, but still love close collaboration with a team-tastic team. And while you can articulate your design rationale, you also aren’t afraid to be wrong sometimes - in fact, you thrive on feedback like a beautiful flower thrives on the delicious UV rays of Earth’s golden sun. (Ahhh, so inspirational!)

The sort of projects you’ll work on include:
  • Plotting the user onboarding experience
  • Designing a drag-and-drop queue interface
  • Polishing the subscription cancel flow
  • A/B testing signup pages
  • Designing inline editing in the content library

Like the tenacious fire ant, our product team is small but mighty, and frequently ruins picnics. You’ll be joining them as our first full-time designer dedicated exclusively to Edgar’s interface, working directly with our full-stack developers to breathe sweet life into your ingenious concepts.

In other words? You’ll have a major hand in defining the look and feel of a product used by thousands of small-business customers, with a significant sense of independence and ownership to go with it. As we keep on growing, you’ll find plenty of new opportunities to help us take our app to the next level both visually and functionally - heck, if we didn’t already work here, we know that’s what WE would want to be doing!

Job Deets Cheat Sheet

Your experience:
  • 4+ years designing web applications, shipped to production and enjoyed by zillions of happy users (or at least HALF a zillion)
  • Thorough understanding of the technical trade-offs and limitations of designing for the web
  • Masterful vector and raster design skills using the standard cadre of professional tools
  • Familiarity creating work at multiple fidelities, from high level wireframes down to pixel-perfect mockups and prototypes
  • A mind-blowing portfolio of well-reasoned interface solutions
  • Qualitative user research experience
  • Some basic HTML/CSS knowledge

Extra special bonus points for any of the following:
  • Ability to roll up your sleeves and translate your designs into production-worthy markup and styles using modern front-end dev tools and techniques (you can leave your sleeves unrolled if that’s more comfortable)
  • Illustration skills
  • Etch-a-Sketch expertise

About Us
We’re a small team of 20-ish people, all working remotely across the US & Canada. We do a lot of collaborating and meme-swapping on Slack, along with virtual team meetings and super-futuristic video calls. We also do a twice-annual meetup week where we work together on cool projects all day and rock the karaoke mic all night.

We’re proudly bootstrapped and profitable, which means we get to turn down VC money a lot and keep doing things the way we like. We’re pretty serious about building and maintaining an awesome, positive company culture, so, you know, no jerks. We'll probably get along if you’re someone who wants to be creative, have a pretty-serious-but-not-inhuman amount of responsibility, and work with people who make going to work not suck. (And be one of those people yourself. We like those people.)

Life on Team EdgarBenefits
(REMOTE POSITION. Applicants must be able to show documentation of eligibility to work in the USA.)
  • Monthly cleaning service for your home - not that we don't have total faith in you
  • 4 weeks paid vacation (Shazam! And yes, everyone actually uses all 4 weeks)
  • Paid home Internet service or coworking space/coffee shop working expenses
  • 75% of costs covered for health, dental, and vision for you and your fam
  • 401k with employer matching
  • An extra paid day off per quarter so you can volunteer in your community (awww)
  • New Mac laptop (#blessed)

What we need

We’re looking for an experienced, senior-level individual to join our user experience design team at Tenable Network Security.

The Senior UX Designer will report to the UX Design Manager, and will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products are easy to learn, use, and manage. You will work with a crossfunctional team consisting of Engineers and Product Managers to advance design mockups/prototypes into production implementations.

You specialize in interactions, flows, visual design, and communication methods to ensure we’re building products our existing and new customers will love. You will work to shape how our design and product teams work together. Most importantly, you care deeply about helping to our customers to experience a technical product that is easy to use.

Who we need

You are eager to learn. Our product solves extremely technical problems and is used by a techsavvy audience. In order for you to solve problems and come up with smart solutions—you’ll need to work hard at understanding not only our products, but our industry as well. That means you will need to come in as a student first, seeking to understand and not quick to drive change.

You are a team player. Our team is highly collaborative and we have design critiques frequently. You should have strong opinions that are also loosely held. You should be willing to fight for your ideas, but willing to accept feedback from anyone. Your goal should be the best solution over anything else. The UX team at Tenable uses the word “we” rather than “I” as much as possible. That is because all of our designers, engineers and product teams influence the design—not just the designer. We have incredibly smart people in our teams and therefore we treat everyone as a fellow designer.

You have a strong and diverse background. At Tenable, we believe that UX Designers are individuals experienced in visual design, interaction design, information architecture and more. You have the ability to turn research into basic wireframes, then into rich interactive prototypes and also to produce high-fidelity graphics. You can explain each piece of an interaction and write specifications for our engineers.

Your organization skills are unmatched. We work hard to create transparency with all of our work. Our team shares everything and has a zero-ownership mentality. Therefore your ability to organize your work so that it can be easily accessed and understood by another designer is incredibly important.

You are a great communicator. We believe that great designers are also great communicators. But, part of being a great communicator is also being a great listener. Your speaking, presenting, and listening skills should be top notch.

You don’t let your experience, title, or talents go to your head. You start from a place of learning, listening and understanding. You realize that your job and goals have nothing to do with you, but has everything to do with the user and solving their problems. Your job is about the big picture, user satisfaction.

Day to Day

  • Designing and prototyping for evolving webbased applications.

  • Conceptualizing, designing and producing deliverables for user interface.

  • Create high-fidelity visual mockups

  • Work closely with product managers, engineering, customers and other stakeholders to proactively gather and understand usability concerns and areas for improvement

  • Establish detailed usability and design guidelines for product development based on industry best practices and competitive benchmarking

  • Create and maintaining a library of design and interface resources for use by product teams

  • Ideate and storyboard design solutions based on user feedback.

  • Proactively look for opportunities to improve the design and interface for our web-based applications.

Design is key
Design is a big deal to us.We believe a user interface needs to be simple and effortless to interact with.We love clean, well-organized code, as much as we love creativity and clarityin design. We believe that in order to build a beautiful interface, we need tostay consistently-tuned to our clients and their needs. Our Des/Dev teammaintains a very close relationship with our clients, and that’s just the waywe like it.

Here's the deal
Ameego is growing and we’relooking for another star performer to join our awesome and extremely goodlooking team ;). Currently, we’re looking for a contractual UX/UI Designer whoabsolutely loves design, collaboration, and exceeding expectations.

What you'll be focusing on
At Ameego, things areconstantly moving and moving quickly. As a UX/UI designer, you’ll always beworking on different things. At times, you could be working on aclient-specific enhancement, other times you might be tweaking an existing toolwithin Ameego, or designing a ground-breaking new component.

Innovating an industry
At Ameego, we build anddeliver tools that change the rules of the game. We work a lot with the restaurantindustry and our main focus is on scheduling, labor and staff management. Thetools you'll help to build will drastically improve the personal lives of ourusers, and enable the organizations we work with to replicate success.

More fun stuff
It all comes down toresults, and our expectations are very high. Everyone in our crew is a starperformer and they live to exceed expectations. That’s the standard by which welive, work and play. We’re not too hot on ‘presentee-ism’ - just showing up for8 hours a day and not delivering. Results are where it’s at and that’s how we operate. We work in what’scalled a ‘ROWE’. It stands for ‘Results Only Work Environment’. Basically itmeans that as long as you deliver results, do whatever the heck you want, whenever the heck you want to.

Skill set
•Be awesome
•Be really awesome
•Loves UI and UX, and hasexperience in both
•Wizard-like ability todemonstrate your design before coding (Photoshop, finger painting, hand shadowpuppets, etc.)
•Exceptional written andverbal communication skills
•At least basic skills inHTML, JavaScript, and CSS would be great, but if you’re really good, tell us.We think being an expert is sexy.

How to apply
We're looking for people that 'stand-out'. You should be outstanding yourself and so should your application.  Send us documents, pictures, videos, work samples, or anything else that you think is relevant to pamm@myameego.com. Please include one of the following phrases in the subject of the email:

•"UI Designer - [your own personal phrase indicating your awesomeness]"
•"UI Designer - I'm not here to waste your time"
•"UI Designer - Prepare to be dazzled"

If we think you may be a good fit, we'll be back in touch with you via email to discuss step two.

We’ll be acceptingapplications for this position until August 15th 2016. We lookforward to receiving yours.

Sincerely yours,

The Ameego Team

About

We like to build stuff… sometimes complicated stuff… for Non Profits, Charities and Art Galleries. We’ve been growing fast over the past few years and so we’re on the lookout for a confident and ambitious Senior/Lead UX/UI designer to join our distributed team in a unique position to help us work on the improved user design for a product that is used by tens of thousands of non profit organsiations wordwide.

About CiviCRM and CiviHR

CiviCRM is an open source CRM application that is used by tens of thousands of organisations worldwide.

Compucorp are being funded by a charitable foundation in the UK to develop CiviHR. CiviHR is an HR system for non profit organisations based on the open source CRM system "CiviCRM" and "Drupal" an open source CMS framework.

More details on CiviCRM and CiviHR can be found here:

https://civicrm.org/

https://civihr.org/

As part of the development of CiviHR one workstream is dedicated to redeveloping the user interface for CiviCRM (and therefore CiviHR!). Work has started and the designs so far can be seen here:

https://invis.io/MU4RTI1S5 - toolkit

https://invis.io/KD4KSB2H7

The role:

We have a unique opportunity for a Lead UI / UX designer to join the team and really help us take the UX design of CiviCRM and CiviHR to the next level. We want to make these applications into beautiful and immediately familiar applications that people love to use.

The new Lead designer will set overall direction on these projects to our mid level designers who are working on this and other projects, and also help us to develop a clear design and approval process.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable designing in a browser (HTML/CSS) (as most user interface challenges relate to fluid design) as well as in Photoshop/Sketch, will have existing experience developing UI for complex applications and giving direction to more junior members of a team.

Key skills we are looking for are:

  • Strong HTML/CSS skills and ability to prototype quickly
  • Strong knowledge of UX component libraries
  • Expert experience with fluid design principles and best practices
  • Comfortable with Photoshop and/or Sketch
  • Demonstrable experience creating user interface toolkits for web applications
  • Comfortable working with and leading a team of other designers

We anticipate this being a part time role for a number of hours per week, but may ramp up or down depending on the impact that the person is able to have on the project and other projects in the team.

    A bit about us:

We do things a little differently, basing all our solutions on open source products, having flexible working hours and real team mentality. Our work covers web design, app development and branding for Charities and non-profit organisations across the country. Our clients include Charities such as Wikimedia and Farm Africa, galleries such as the Photographers Gallery and Craft Central but also companies, trade associations and government bodies. We're a distributed team with our head office in London. What were looking for is someone who can grasp concepts quickly, has great attention to detail, and most importantly loves a tech challenge. In short, we’re a team of self confessed geeks who love tinkering and tweaking until something is just right, and we’re looking for someone with a similar attitude to join our growing team.

Make An Impact On Healthcare

More than 250,000 Americans died last year as a result of medical error[1]. Sadly, many of these deaths could have been prevented with existing best practices for quality and patient safety. A hospital’s best tool for standardizing and implementing these life-saving improvements are their written policies and procedures. PolicyStat’s mission is to improve healthcare delivery by making those policies and procedures easier to find, access, and manage. Our clients (across 46/50 states) use our SaaS application to ensure that their policies are correct, their staff can find and implement those policies, and that their policies support regulatory compliance.

You deserve an environment with clear goals, problems that are meaningful and challenging, the autonomy necessary for creativity, and the support/resources necessary to make a dent in the universe. We want to provide you with that environment so that together, we can improve healthcare.

Help Us Collaborate Towards Awesome

We need a senior UX designer to lead our design process and help us take our product to the next level. Our product team understands the importance of good design and we need someone to help us, guide us, and teach us. We’re a process-driven team looking for a fellow process nerd with strong opinions about how to bake good UX design into iterative product development. We’ve recently been freed from the tyranny of supporting Old IE, and we’re excited for the opportunity to improve interaction for the hundreds of thousands of people that rely on PolicyStat.

How You’ll Help Further PolicyStat’s Mission

You’ll work with the rest of the product team to make our clients more successful by iterating on existing design, completely reworking systems, designing new features, and improving our processes.
You’ll establish, document, and “own” a design system to standardize and improve our design practices.
You’ll work with our engineers to write and run usability tests towards improving our product.
You’ll design interactions, build mockups, write copy, perform design reviews, and collaborate as part of our product enhancement workflow.
Totally Strict Job Requirements

The Perfect Candidate™ will have:

Strength in Structure and Interaction design, according to the 4-layer design taxonomy2
A hunger for information on entrepreneurship and user experience
Experience improving design in a continuous delivery environment (we deployed ~500 times last year)
A portfolio demonstrating some of their design work
A process-oriented approach to design
Technical expertise with at least one prototyping/wireframing tool (e.g. Sketch, Balsamiq, UXPin)
Expertise in creating and administering usability tests towards improving design (we use Validately)
Expertise in clarifying data, indicating relationships, and hinting at behavior using using color, style, iconography, web typography, information design, and visual hierarchy
Experience implementing incremental design changes using a UI framework (e.g. Twitter Bootstrap)
Experience using responsive design to deliver great experiences across a range of devices
About PolicyStat

PolicyStat is a rapidly-growing SaaS company ( >50% yearly growth for 6+ years) with a product our clients love (>99% renewal rate). Our company has been named one of the Best Places to Work in Indiana for the past 3 years and we’re on the INC 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies.

We pay market rate, provide full benefits, equity, flexible hours/PTO, conference/travel budget, and excellent hardware/tools.

We welcome candidates of all genders, creeds, races, and sexual orientations!

DESCRIPTION

Here at GigSalad, we’re building an easier way for people to hire talent and services for events. From musicians to magicians, we match customers with entertainment professionals for all of life’s events.

As Senior UI/UX Designer at GigSalad, you’ll be responsible for designing a two-sided marketplace that has serviced over a million users. We’re looking for a seasoned pro – a designer who is comfortable creating beautiful, functional experiences and excited to instill their design philosophy in the company as a whole. As an instrumental part of the company, you’ll work closely with engineering and product management to take your vision from idea to execution. Your insights will not only influence the look of the site, but will also extend to branding and marketing initiatives across the company.

We're looking for either a full-time employee or an outstanding freelancer who is excited to improve our marketplace. We’re a private and profitable company. We like tackling rewarding problems, taking time to solve things the right way, and focusing on a single product. Reach out to us and learn more about your role in improving GigSalad.

As Senior UI/UX Designer at GigSalad, you will

UX or UI Designers Wanted!

We also expect that you're proficient in many or all of the standard tools for web design, stuff like: Adobe Photoshop (and the entire Creative Suite), Git/Github, Axure / InVision / Framer, Bootstrap or Foundation, Coda / Sublime / Vim, Espresso / CodeKit / Macaw.

We’re a team of 30ish developers and designers located around the US, Canada, and even Chile. This is a remote position, but due to travel requirements, we have a strong preference for US-based designers.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and yearly bonuses
  • Bi-annual company retreats (previously in Milwaukee, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Amelia Island)
  • 401(k) plan with matching
  • 4 weeks paid vacation
  • Health and dental insurance
  • Gym membership reimbursement
  • Maternity/paternity leave
  • Work from home

To apply: Send your resume and a thoughtful cover letter to designjobs@bitovi.com. In your cover letter, tell us three reasons why we should interview you. Focus on your past work and experience, and point us to some recent work. If you have any specific salary requirements or other conditions, make sure to include those as well.
