You will get to communicate and work closely with product teams and get to know our cutting edge technologies. You will be ultimately responsible for the architecture and the results of the engineering team, including product delivery milestones, site reliability and uptime.\n\n\n**Primary responsibilities:**\n\n- Develop technical aspects of the company’s strategy and products to ensure alignment with its business goals\n\n- Provide leadership and direction to the software development and data science teams.\n\n- Actively participate in the hiring process, ensuring that only the best talent (attitude + tech skills) join the teams.\n\n- Set standards in coding, development, integration.\n\n- Supervise system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency\n\n- Implement quality assurance, data access and protection processes principles.\n\n- Ensure that projects are accurately estimated and delivered on schedule\n\n- Code review and code quality control\n\n- Reduce the risk of technological breaches and protect sensitive digital information\n\n\n**Ideally, you’ll have:**\n\n- Experience leading teams of engineers who build end-user products and the backend services that power them. Built complex products from scratch.\n\n- Strong technical skills, including extensive software development experience with Saas products.\n\n- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an aptitude to convey clear thoughts and ideas.\n\n- A track record of delivering on ambitious goals.\n\n- Worked in a startup environment. Our systems are highly complex and contain petabytes of data and video requiring extremely talented engineers to maintain scale and efficiency of its products.\n \nAs a member of the Synergy team, this senior engineer will contribute to the ongoing development of Synergy’s revolutionary online sports data and video delivery solutions, building applications such as:\n \n* Client Analytic Tools\n* Video Editing and Capture Tools\n* Data Logging Tools\n* Operational Game, Data and Video Pipeline Tools\n* Backend Data and Video Platforms\n \nSynergy’s work environment is geographically distributed, with employees working from home offices. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a virtual office using online collaboration tools for all communication and interaction in conversational English. Synergy development staff work in a deadline-oriented, demanding, non-standard environment in which personal initiative and a strong work ethic are rewarded. Good communication skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision are crucial. Nonstandard working hours may be required, as Synergy operates on a 24x7 system for clients, with associated deadlines and requirements. Pay rate is dependent on experience.\n \nInformation for all Positions:\n \n* All Positions will last for roughly a year with some engineers lasting even longer if they are talented, we will keep them for future projects.\n* Engineers should be available for phone calls M-F from 7am to 10am Pacific Time zone. There will usually be 1 or 2 phone calls each week that are 30 to 90 minutes each.\n* All other work hours availability is up to the engineer to work when it is a best fit and balance for them to communicate with their team and their personal commitments outside of work.\n* Working an average of 40 hours per week is expected except in rare or temporary circumstances. Each week can be flexible and up to the engineer as to when and how much they work per day. It is ok to work heavier and lighter weeks if desired based upon the engineer’s preference of when and how to work. **ABOUT US**\n\n\n\nAt Close.io we’re building the sales communication platform of the future. We’ve built a next-generation CRM that eliminates manual data entry and helps sales teams close more deals. We are hiring engineers to join our DevOps team to help take our platform to the next level by adding new features, providing better performance, and even higher reliability. We are a ~30 person entirely remote team (with ~13 engineers) that is profitable and building a product our customers love.\n\n\n\nOur backend tech stack currently consists of Python Flask/Gunicorn web apps with our TaskTiger scheduler handling many of the backend asynchronous processing tasks. Our data stores include MongoDB, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis. Our infrastructure runs on AWS using a combination of managed services like RDS and ElastiCache as well as EC2 instances managed by Puppet.
