\nWhat will you create this year? We’re jeans-and-hoodie-friendly, powered by unlimited caffeine and have an arsenal of modern development gear at our disposal.\n\nTome Software has immediate job openings for additional software engineers on our development team in downtown Royal Oak. If you’re looking to work with a proven and award-winning entrepreneurial team to change the status quo of tech through passion and hard work, here’s what you need to know about us, and what we need from you.\n\nOver the last year we launched OfficeIQ, a software/sensor solution, with our furniture partner Humanscale. The OfficeIQ product motivates users to be more active by objectively measuring activity via sit/stand workstations and non-disruptive reminders. We also launched a mobility application (MoDe:Link) with Ford that connects multimodal mobility systems (public transit, mapping, parking, etc.) to connected eBikes. All Tome engineers have the opportunity to work on various projects, with new challenges constantly arising. Many of our current projects are still super secret (shhh!) and provide a unique opportunity to work with some of the best customers and some of the most-interesting problems in the world.\n\nAbout Tome: A passion for connecting hardware products to software applications led Jake Sigal and Massimo Baldini to establish Tome, Inc. in April 2014. Founded in metro Detroit, Tome develops connectivity products to keep people mobile and active, while creating value as a focused niche within the larger Internet of Things movement. Tome is a member of the StartUp Health accelerator, based in New York City. Sigal and Baldini sold their previous startup, Livio, to Ford Motor Co. in 2013. \nWe are looking for an experienced sysadmin to scale an awesome international team. That's a posting for outside the USA, only remote. Right now the team consists of 4 great admins and we have a lot more work :)\n\nSome background about our team and you:\n\n\n* We don't like bureaucracy. You are allowed to discuss any issue with any from the team including our CEO\n\n* We push changes live a few times a day.\n\n* The tasks you would work on may be quick and simple or very long and complex. \n\n* Our setup is about 100 servers in total. A few instances for mongo, mysql, redis, light frontends with nginx/varnish, heavy backends with uwsgi and django, a pool of servers for celery, EdgeCast cdn, etc. The servers are in AWS in 2 datacenters and 3 zones.\n\n* It's highly encouraged to show initiative and suggest new ideas. We understand that business goals come first but we try to keep our code clean\n\n* Your biggest responsibility as a sysadmin is communication. \n\n* You care about how your work and attitude affects those around you. I mean really care. If you hurt someone, it hurts you. Everything you do runs through this filter.\n\n* Everyone knows that when you take on a task whether it’s huge and scary or tiny and boring, you’re going to see it through to the best of your ability.\n\n* You are humble enough to bend to the will of the tools, technologies, constraints, and people you work with when doing so won’t have a materially negative impact. In other words, you can play by someone else’s rules when that’s the easiest and/or best thing to do.\n\n* You make pragmatic (often boring) technology choices at work and you play in your free time. You don’t build science projects just because you are smart enough to build them.\n\n* You are confident enough that you don’t have to prove to anyone what a great sysadmin you are, and therefore…\n\n* You don’t mind being the one that looks bad when you deserve it. You make mistakes sometimes, because you’re human, but rather than dwell on them you choose to fix and then learn from them.\n\n* You love to teach and learn from your co-workers.\n\n* Our backend, slicing and frontend teams are always happy to help\n\n* We offer paid vacation, paid sick days and local holidays in your country\n\n* You have flexible working hours when it's most comfortable for you\n\n\n\n\nPlease send your resume to [email protected]
