\nAt Noom, we use scientifically proven methods to help our users create healthier lifestyles, and manage important conditions like Type-II Diabetes, Obesity, and Hypertension. Our Engineering team is at the forefront of this challenge, solving complex technical and UX problems on our mobile apps that center around habits, behavior, and lifestyle.\n\nWe are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Data team and help us ensure that we apply the best approaches to data analysis and research, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.\n\nWhat You’ll Like About Us\n\n\n* We work on problems that affect the lives of real people. Our users depend on us to make positive changes to their health and their lives.\n\n* We base our work on scientifically-proven, peer-reviewed methodologies that are designed by medical professionals.\n\n* We are a data-driven company through and through.\n\n* We’re a respectful, diverse, and dynamic environment in which Engineering is a first-class citizen, and where you’ll be able to work on a variety of interesting problems that affect the lives of real people.\n\n* We offer a generous budget for personal development expenses like training courses, conferences, and books.\n\n* You’ll get three weeks’ paid vacation and a flexible work policy that is remote- and family-friendly (about 50% of our engineering team is fully remote). We worry about results, not time spent in seats.\n\n* Delicious (and nutritious) daily lunches and snacks prepared by Sam, our NYC office on-site chef.\n\n\n\n\nWhat We’ll Like About You\n\n\n* You have 4+ years of experience as a Data Scientist in a similarly-sized organization, with a proven record of analysis and research that positively impacts your team.\n\n* You have a superior knowledge of statistical analysis methods, such as input selection,  logistic and standard regression, random forests, etc.\n\n* You have extensive experience with pandas, numpy, and sklearn. Experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, or similar) is a plus\n\n* You are capable of working with engineers to build an actual production system that uses machine learning and artificial intelligence. We don’t expect you to write production-quality code, but you should have some programming experience.\n\n* You are comfortable with at least “medium data” technologies and how to transcend the “memory bound” nature of most analytics tools.\n\n* You possess excellent SQL/relational algebra skills, ideally with at least a basic knowledge of how different types of databases (e.g.: column vs row storage) work.\n\n* You possess excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.\n\n\n

If you have a soft spot for bootstrapped, profitable companies with a meaningful product, and you want to use your data analyst / growth skills for good, you’ll like this.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout us:\n\n\n\nDrops’ goal is to turn language learning into a delightful game while ensuring effective learning. Our app is in the Appstore for 3 years, teaches 31 languages, was featured by both the App Store and Play Store multiple times - Editors' Choice on the Play Store - and the company is still run by the founders. We are a small, super-capable remote team mainly spread across Europe. We’re working synchronously, so time zones matter for us. We communicate via Slack, Git and Trello and have a release twice a week. We want to be the no.1 app for vocabulary learning and we are getting there quickly with our current user base of 7 million, a monthly active of >800,000 and an average store rating of 4.7.\n\n\n\nYou can find us here: [http://drops.app.link/](http://drops.app.link/)\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout you:\n\n\n\nYou’ll be responsible for improving the quantity, quality and reliability of the multivariant tests we run.\n\n\n\nYou’re a no-nonsense person, who is comfortable taking ownership of all aspects of our analytics & growth funnel, who has experience in working at a product company, and who can bring us insights, initiatives and execution that will help us grow.\n\n\n\nWe want everyone to see the big picture: this means you already pushed your boundaries outside of the strict data realm, and are knowledgeable about mobile and web growth frameworks, ASO, SEO, best practices regarding retention and monetization.\n\n\n\nWe’re building a small, but super capable team. You’re naturally more interested in the fate of the product & driven to grow professionally, than in managing people.\n\n\n\nWe are looking for a missionary rather than a mercenary.\n\n\n\nWe value clear and honest communication and transparency, it’s the linchpin of our culture and current success and freedom. You will be involved in both high and low level decision making and will be available during European working hours (9AM - 6PM GMT).\n\n\n\nWe offer:\n\n\n\n* An awesomely compact 13 person team\n\n* Educational allowance\n\n* Fittness allowance\n\n* All the perks of remote working\n\n* 30 days of holiday per year (including Christmas and other holidays)\n\n* Quarterly team gathering somewhere in the world\n\n* Stock options from a high-growth, profitable company\n\n# Responsibilities\n You will:\n\n* Work cross functionally with our engineers, designer and marketing teams on opportunities to initiate / manage / analyze the AB tests we’re running across multiple platforms.\n\n* Make sense out of all the data that comes in (mobile, web, iTunes, Play Store, our own users database).\n\n* Gather insights from the existing data we have, and initiate projects to help improve our KPIs.\n\n* Prefer to use a minimal set of simple tools to complex ones. (This is important for us)\n\n* Communicate effectively and often to ensure that the team is aligned.\n\n* Help the engineers structure the events on existing and new platforms & define our KPIs. \n\n# Requirements\nYou have:\n\n* At least 2 years of experience in working in product analytics, managing multivariant tests and their results.\n\n* At least 3 years of experience in using various Analytics / BI tools (from Amplitude to SQL queries)\n\n* Experience driving product growth in the consumer mobile app space.\n\n* Some experience in qualitative testing methodologies. You’re not afraid with engaging with end-users if needed.\n\n* Knowledge about fundamental mobile and web growth mental models\n\n* Project management experience (everyone is managing projects at Drops)\n\n* Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well cross-functionally.\n\n* (Preferably) experience in all 4 pillars of the growth funnel: Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Monetization

\nIf you’re smart, passionate about technology and enjoy solving complex technical challenges then you should apply to join our best-in-class tech team. We believe that people are our most important asset and one worth protecting. As such, we’re known for creating an enviable working culture to keep our employees smiling on a day to day basis. \n\nWe offer things such as flexible hours, remote working, fortnigtly hackathons and freedom to work on projects of individual interest to name just a few. In fact, our impressive working culture has recently earned us 1st place in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work for 2015. \n\n\nWe have two different positions.\n\n\n1. Senior Developers who would like to lead a team / projects - We envisage the split here being about 70% hands-on coding and 30% leading the team, liaising with product owners on prioritization work, attending iteration planning meetings with stakeholders, delegating tasks to dev team, and making sure we are following Lean / Agile processes correctly.\n\n\n2. Senior Developers who want to be 100% coders (non-lead) - This role will be 100% hands on working with our other Devs to code beautiful products for our customers! \n\n\n\nSome of our Current Projects: \n\nSeedy - Our custom built CMS. A hybrid, markdown based, sinatra driven CMS but with a TDD undercurrent. Content changes are no different to backend refactoring. Templates are written in a custom DSL that enforces our style guide while still supporting iterative changes and automatic deployment. Across the company people (including business teams) are now being tagged in pull requests and even writing code!\n\nAerie - We’re overhauling our data and analytics architecture. Using the latest approaches in event streaming, we are building a brand new data pipeline based on Kinesis and Redshift that will support the analysis of both structured and semi-structured data in near real-time. This will provide rapid and intuitive customer insight to our decision makers, while also providing exciting machine learning capabilities back to our core product offering.\n\nAAA - We are enhancing our new world platform. Our current focus is on security with a view to building out ‘infrastructure as code’ using tools such as AWS CloudFormation, AWS OpsWorks, Chef/Puppet and many others. Essentially, we believe a well architected system allows us to avoid unnecessary complexity and can enable individuals to generate great output.\n\nOur Tech Stack\n\n\n\n\n* Ruby\n\n* Rails                                                                                                                            \n\n* Scala  \n\n* MongoDB\n\n* RabbitMQ\n\n* Puppet/Boxen\n\n* AWS                                                                                                                        \n\n* Hadoop / RedShift / Looker /Tableau\n\n* Cucumber / RSpec / Jasmine                              \n\n* SASS / HAML / HTML5 / CSS3 / JavaScript / CoffeeScript / jQuery\n\n\n\n\n\nThis list changes all the time, as being on the lookout for new technology trials and opportunities is part of our code. We don’t believe in limiting ourselves, or the company. If there are other tools that could get the job done better, we’re committed to exploring them.\n\nThings we believe in:\n\n\n\n\n* TDD / BDD\n\n* Continuous Delivery\n\n* Pair Programming\n\n* Build – Measure - Learn\n\n* Active participation to open source\n\n* Our business people writing code (we've not seen this anywhere else!)                                \n\n* Cross functional teams (Dev / QA/ Data / UX / Product owners all sitting together)            \n\n* Release early and learn quickly - we release our software to production around 15 times a day on average!        \n\n* Continuous learning - we look to pay for courses and conferences and actively encourage our Devs to get out and about in the community. We have even sent some of our Devs to Miami, Portugal and Barcelona for conferences recently.                                                              \n\n* Have fun! We do ruby coding challenges during lunchtimes over pizza, we have desk beers on a friday, we have several social events throughout the year, we do fortnightly hackathons, we have afterwork clubs like: UX, Data science and Robotics club, we have flexible working hours, weekly 'show n tell' sessions, and lot's more!                                                                                                 \n\n\n
