We are looking for an EXCELLENT full-stack PHP developer to join our very competent team. This is a pay-plus-equity position as Lead Engineer/Lead Developer at a self-funded social media management startup (similar to Buffer.com). Remote work is absolutely fine. You must take initiative, and be hard working and detail oriented.

My last business, which was extremely similar, was bootstrapped to a million dollars in 12 months. My Co-founder has similar experience. I apologize for the awkward humblebrag but it does seem to help quality people understand our seriousness. This is not an iffy startup with a small probability of a billion dollar payoff, but rather a solid, high cash-flow startup with a very high probability of a several million dollar payoff, and potentially and conservatively, some probability of a ten+ million dollar payoff (and, correspondingly, a zero percent probability of a billion-dollar payoff). This is not our first rodeo and we want someone else to join us.

You must be a full-stack PHP developer who has a portfolio of work you can point to. This portfolio should show us that you care about finishing touches, attention to detail, and actually shipping/finishing/supporting products.

If you refer someone else who sticks around 3 months, we will pay you a $1000 cash bonus.

PS: Candidates from any country, with any background, are very welcome to apply. Ukraine, Pakistan, etc... Please apply!

We’re looking for a tech-savvy people person to join our superpowered squad of customer service pros. Our product serves an amazing community of business owners, bloggers, and social media professionals, and you’ll be on the front lines for answering their questions and keeping them happy as heck.

Edgar launched in Summer 2014, and we already have thousands of happy, paying, fabulous customers. We’re also growing by about ~20% month over month, which means lots of users - and lots of support! Fortunately, you’re an empathetic and articulate communicator with an outlook so positive it’s almost creepy. You love people? We love you.

ABOUT YOU

Your greatest talent in life is putting people at ease and making them feel heard. (Or juggling chainsaws, because that’d be SO COOL.) You don’t take it personally when someone has a complaint, so when the going gets salty, you stay sweet and bounce right back to help out whoever’s next in line. We live on the Internet, so you’re a master of written communication and can always tell whether someone needs a quick answer or a little extra hand-holding. You love working with tech, exploring new tools and apps, and using your black belt in Google Fu to find resourceful solutions for the most problem-y problems.

We’re into CS that’s smart, proactive, and actually helpful, so don’t expect to spend day after day getting smacked in the face with complaints and sending the same soul-sucking form responses to people. (That’s SO not your style.) You’re a translator who speaks 1000 dialects of Customer-ese, so when somebody has a problem, you know how to suss out the issue at its heart and put their pain point in your crosshairs. You’ve got a mind of your own, and you’re looking for a job that’ll let you use it, and make serious contributions outside of just answering emails. (Even though you’re a total pro at it.)

And you know, you’re a just-plain-swell human being. (It’s okay for you to admit that!) Customer service takes smarts AND a sparkling personality, and yours sparkles like a diamond fresh out of the dishwasher. You love being part of an awesome team, but you’re also good at the whole self-management thing - you’re in charge of a lot of your own workflow, so you’ve gotta be able to focus and prioritize without anyone creepily staring at you over the wall of a cubicle.

ABOUT US

You can check out http://meetedgar.com/careers/ to learn more about us, but here’s the CliffsNotes version:

We’re a small team of 13 people, all working remotely across the US. We do a lot of collaborating and meme-swapping on Slack, along with virtual team meetings and futuristic video calls. We also do a twice-annual meetup week where we work together on cool projects all day and generally make fools of ourselves all night.

We’re proudly bootstrapped and profitable, which means we get to turn down VC money a lot and keep doing things the way we like. We’re pretty serious about building and maintaining an awesome, positive company culture, so, you know, no jerks. Customer service-wise, we faithfully subscribe to the Help Scout philosophy of awesome support. (And the Help Scout newsletter. And we also USE Help Scout. We might have a slight crush.)

Our CS people aren’t just a bunch of interchangeable question-answerers - they’re massively important to our overall success, so we’re not just dropping you on the front lines and scampering off. You’ll work hands-on with our dev team, communicating the user feedback that will inform upgrades and improvements to our service. (We’re total geeks about nailing the customer experience, so when you talk, we’re listening with open ear holes.) We also use lots of fancy schmancy tools like Help Scout, Intercom, Stripe, and SnapEngage for keeping track of customers and learning about their behavior, so you’ll be armed to the teeth with basically every techno resource you could possibly want. (Don’t worry - we can show you how to use ‘em.)

JOB DEETS CHEAT SHEET

  • You live anywhere in the USA or Canada
  • Part time (15-20 hours a week), mostly M-F, but with room to stretch into the weekends
  • You’re super comfortable with social media (like, sweatpants-level comfortable)
  • Helping our customers out with general questions, techie-type troubleshooting, and a wee bit of salesy stuff
  • You’re motivated, proactive, and totally into technology
  • Make lots of people super happy!

Facebook Advertising Specialist for MeetEdgar.com

keywords: facebook fb ads, online acquisition, social media advertising, ppc, paid acquisition

We’re looking for one amazing human (or several dogs in a trenchcoat) to oversee and execute our Edgar Facebook advertising strategy. Facebook has already been a super successful channel for us, and we’re looking to ramp up our budget and use it to get even MORE customers. You’re the one to make it happen!

Edgar launched one year ago, and we already have thousands of happy, paying, fabulous customers - and we know there are thousands more out there just waiting to discover us via YOUR brilliant ads! Right now, we’re growing ~20% month over month, and we bet you can help make that number even more awesome. (No pressure, right?)

Who You Are

You are an expert-level Facebook advertiser. You love spending all day with your nose in a spreadsheet digging through details and crunching numbers like a big ol’ nerd. You are the best out there at data-driven decision making. You know when to test something, when to stick with what you’ve got, and when to start over entirely. You get a not-so-secret thrill from driving down our CAC - why, just thinking about it makes you get all tingly!

You have at least two years experience in Facebook specifically. (Well, in Facebook ads. Not just in liking funny cat videos. Though that’s valuable in its own right.)

Your Resources

You will have full control over our FB ad strategy and execution. No one will be overseeing or telling you what to do - if you prefer someone breathing down your neck, this probably isn’t for you. You’ll have a designer and writer to support you in creative. Our ad budget is currently about $35k/mo., and you’ll have full liberty to grow that as long as it’s profitable! Seriously, you just focus on being awesome and we’ll make it rain all over that budget.

You’re not just brainstorming the ads - you’re also the one in the trenches setting up, managing, and evaluating them. That means you need to love getting your hands dirty in the nitty-gritty details. Facebook ads will be YOUR baby, and you get to control the workflow, the process, and the outcomes. You’re a control freak? GOOD.

We will bow to you as our resident Facebook ad expert, and bestow upon you fame and glory. You’ll even help us expand our paid acquisition team in 2015 and add more people as amazing are you are! (If any such people exist. Because come ON, right?)

About Us

You can check out http://meetedgar.com/careers/ to learn more about us, but here’s the CliffsNotes version:

We’re a small team of 10 people, all working remotely across the US. We do a lot of collaborating and meme-swapping on Slack, along with virtual team meetings on the regular and a twice-annual meetup week where we work together on cool projects all day and generally make fools of ourselves all night.

We’re proudly bootstrapped and profitable, which means we get to turn down VC money a lot and keep doing things the way we like. We’re big fans of Chet Holmes. We’re also big fans of doughnuts.

Benefits

We cover 75% of health insurance for you and your family. We do 401k matching. We’re really into ongoing education, so of course we’ll cover any education materials you need to enhance your mad skills. We don’t have a fancy espresso machine or free beer on Fridays. We will pay you enough to be able to buy all the beer and espresso you like.

Requirements

  • You would call yourself an expert in Facebook ads and have at least two years experience
  • You live anywhere in the USA, Canada, or an International Space Station that operates in these time zones
  • You are a data-driven thinker
  • You are passionate about making everyone jealous of how much business we drive from our Facebook ads
  • An awesome company culture is really important to you in deciding where to work (spoiler alert: we have one!)

Who You Are

We're looking for a full-time backend Rails developer to help build and maintain our social media management tool, Edgar. Edgar launched less than a year ago and has thousands of paying customers that will use the features you build every day. We’re growing ~20% month on month. (No pressure, right?)

You’ll be working on big, exciting projects like optimizing our Sidekiq queuing system to work JIT, creating an intelligent scheduler (analyze users’ data and figure out when they should be sending social media updates out), and migrating our customer analytics code to use a middle layer like segment.io. You’ll also have shared responsibility for choosing and mentoring a junior dev or two, Obi-Wan Kenobi-style.

(We have a dedicated, amazing, devilishly handsome front end Rails dev on the team - who totally didn’t write this listing or anything - so it’s ok if you’re not super comfortable with the front end stuff. You’ll be the go-to person for the backend stories, with the confidence and experience to back that up.)

Our stack is Rails 4, Ruby 2.1, Heroku, Postgres, Sidekiq + Redis, HAML, Coffeescript and React.js.

Our Dev Process

We do a fair amount of pair programming and a lot of code reviews, we love solid tests and CI, and we’re moving toward CD as quickly as we can. Basically? We’re constantly improving our process so we can create an ideal developer environment - low overheads, high transparency, and as flat as we can be. Estimates were inaccurate and irrelevant, so we dropped ‘em. Artificial deadlines weren’t doing it for us, so we switched from scrum to pure kanban and never looked back. When something isn’t working, we’re not afraid to throw it out and try something new - so if you have exciting ideas about the dev process and how to make your own job even easier, you’ll fit right in.

We’re striving for a flat organisation, so you’ll be choosing your own priorities from incoming stories (with support from customer service, marketing, and the rest of the company, of course). You’ll also have final responsibility for features, from inception all the way through to delivery, so your teammates know exactly who to shower with praise when you score a big win.

Benefits

We cover 75% of your health insurance for you and your family. We do 401k matching. We’re really into ongoing education, so of course we’ll cover any education materials you need to enhance your mad skills. (Right now we’re looking into using airplay.com to get some external pair programming in, too, so that’s cool.) We don’t have a fancy espresso machine or free beer on Fridays. We will pay you enough to be able to buy all the beer and espresso you like.

About Us

We’re a small team of 10 people, all working remotely across the US. Requirements

  • You have senior level backend Rails skills and 3 years+ experience

  • Javascript (We mostly use jquery; knowledge of optimizing code a MAJOR plus)
  • HTML5 (We use Foundation, or for our Tweetwalls raw HTML5)
  • PHP (Raw PHP and Twig for our templating engine)
  • Ajax Experience
  • JSON based APIs for all data retrieval/updates/deletes/etc.
  • Sketch (we also occasionally use Photoshop, but you'll be using Sketch 99.9% of the time)
  • CodeKit (we use CodeKit for minimizing/combining all javascript, Sass to CSS, and some package management, like keeping up to date with Foundation, etc).
  • Solid grasp of various browser's capabilities, and workarounds available if needed to make certain modern capabilities function on them, or to provide graceful degradations on those browsers when deemed acceptable.
  • Ability to comment code as you go.

    Nice-To-Have Skills

  • Real-time infrastructure experience (Meteor, Socket.io, Node.js)
  • Database Experience (we use MySQL and MongoDB)
  • Asana or Trello Experience

    Perks For This Position

  • Most of what we have scheduled over the next year are greenfield projects, which means there's rarely any legacy code to worry about, or bugs to hunt down, except for your own as you build things.
  • Rapid development environment with code deploys as often as several times a day.
  • Well defined work, but the ability to work in the order of the various projects as you feel makes the most sense.

This position is full time, contractor or employee, depending on country and/or state of residence.

    Awesome Tweetwall Perks

  • We always do what's right for our customers, even if it's not in our best interest
  • Work from anywhere in the world you'd like—some overlap with GMT -0800 preferred (Pacific time zone), but not required
  • Highly collaborative environment with constant Slack availability
  • Great hourly pay (paid weekly), flexible hours, flexible vacation (take time off when needed)
  • Access to our Perk Program once an employee (benefits, stock options, Starbucks card, computer of choice, and more)

SendOwl

Customer Support

SendOwl

2yr

Apply

SendOwl (ecommerce software for selling digital products) is looking to take on a technically-minded customer support person. You'll be as confident with HTML and CSS as you are with crafting friendly emails and working out what a customer actually wants to know.

The elevator pitch

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to do what they love (customer support with a bit of tech thrown in) without being distracted by commuting, long hours and office politics.

We mainly work remotely, we get the job done but largely work when we want to, and we won't get snarky if your kid is sick or you need a day off to argue with estate agents or builders (it happens to the best of us).

A bit about how we operate

Being bootstrapped has kept us very efficient. Over the last four years, we've focused on a) providing a great product b) listening very closely to our customer needs and providing excellent customer support.

Having purposely chosen to not go down the VC route we don't have (or would want) several million pounds to throw at vanity offices, untested ideas and unnecessary positions. Everything we do is tracked back to KPIs that matter to us and our customers.

For some people this is a really scary way to run a company as there's nowhere to hide. For us, we love the freedom, agility and creativity that this brings.

A bit about the job

  • We've now got to the point where we're looking to take on a customer support person so we can speed up the rate at which we innovate.
  • Key responsibilities of this role are:
  • Answering pre-sale questions from potential customers
  • Replying to support emails from existing customers
  • Answering questions via social media
  • Escalating unsolvable problems to 3rd line support
  • Jumping on the occasional phone call with high profile clients
  • Spotting common areas of confusion for our customers and identifying how we can introduce changes to reduce these
  • Tracking and prioritising customer requests for new features
  • Identifying areas of functionality that are not fully documented and creating help articles to cover these. Bonus points for any video skills.

As this role is the first dedicated support person we've hired you'll also be responsible for helping to shape how this part of the company is run.

We'd like you to keep up with the latest customer support blogs (Help Scout, GrooveHQ, and of course Support Ops, + any of your favourites) and feedback ideas from these to help improve how we do customer support.

    A bit about you

One of our sellers said this about us:

"You know who gives amazing customer service? @SendOwlHQ I wish they could run my entire life, their customer service is so good." Magda Pecsenye

Basically, we need you to inspire these kind of comments!

    It would also help if:

  • You can get on with work yourself (we don't do typical management – you'll need to be comfortable with making decisions and taking responsibility for what you do)
  • You have lots of ideas about how to do customer support (or anything to do with running a business) even better
  • You're comfortable with your HTML and CSS skills (we'll give you a little test; nothing too painful)
  • You like being part of a small, independent and fast-moving team

Don't worry if you're not coming from a customer support background. Ability and enthusiasm are more important.

2yr

Apply

We are looking for an amazing Customer Support person to join our team at Red Guava. We don't care much about experience and credentials; we care more about personality and passion. A sense of humour helps a lot too.

This role requires you to work approximately 8am - 2pm, Monday - Friday GMT. It would be ideal if you're in the United Kingdom, but it's not required.

WHO WE ARE

We are a small, bootstrapped and profitable software company based in Melbourne, Australia called Red Guava. We love building software and working with talented people.

We build a product called Cliniko. Cliniko makes life easy for Allied Health professionals by handling appointment scheduling, storing treatment notes and a bunch of other things too. It is already used by more than 10,000 healthcare practitioners in over 50 countries.

HOW WE WORK

We work smarter, not harder. We think work/life balance is important and we work a 30 hour week as standard (you still get a full-time pay; it’s a full-time position).

Some of us work in our office in Melbourne, but not all (we have team members in the UK, USA, Canada, Poland and Brazil). We would rather hire the best person available, not just the best person within a 10km radius.

THE JOB

You’ll spend your time helping our fantastic customers. You'll be helping people that are looking to try out our software too.

Customer Support is a huge focus for us, so you'll be completely empowered to do right by our customers, and that's exactly what we'll expect from you.

If successful, things you'd be doing include:

  • Responding to email enquiries & support requests
  • Answering phones
  • Live chatting via our website to customers and potential customers
  • Answering questions via social media channels
  • Engaging our community on the forums
  • Creating help guides

This can all be summed up as "Giving our customers a fantastic experience every time they interact with us".

You also won't be boxed in to just these things. If there's something you can do that's useful, we'll welcome any contribution you make in any area.

    YOU

Let’s be clear, you need to be seriously amazing. We are a small team (16 right now) and we want to keep it that way. We will offer you the best job you have ever had with plenty of perks, but we expect you to be super-talented.

You also need to be able to work autonomously (we don’t do typical management, we expect you to see what needs to be done and just do it).

Key skills/attributes you'll need to be successful are:

  • Friendly personality
  • Sense of humour
  • Great communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Desire to help people
