\nAt Jimdo, our mission is to help small businesses start, grow, and ultimately thrive online. Small businesses face new challenges with very little support or recognition. We know how hard this can be because we have been in their position. That’s where you can help us—by designing intuitive tools to help small businesses solve complex problems.\n\nWith a forward-leaning and self-driven attitude, we continue to find new ways to help our customers get their ideas out into the world. As a team, we run at a steady pace to achieve what we aim for. We learn best by gathering data, trying new things, and sometimes even falling down along the way. It’s the lessons we learn in the process that make us better problem-solvers for small business owners.\n\nIf you’re motivated by our mission and excited to roll up your sleeves, try new things, learn from mistakes, and make a difference to small businesses around the world, we would love to work with you.\n\nThe Team\n\nAs a result of a growing engineering organization and the necessity to support more diverse business and engineering needs, Jimdo founded a new group of engineering teams that focus on engineering effectiveness.\n\nThe Reliability Team is a group of experts around operating high-traffic systems. They consult and educate engineering teams across Jimdo to ensure high-availability, scalable, and resilient products. They strive for a close collaboration between engineering teams to achieve maximum business value.\n\nLocation\n\nWe are happy to invite you to work with us in our office in Hamburg or permanently remote from any location. Wherever your working location of choice will be, we will make sure you get proper onboarding (virtual or in person) and that you are fully equipped to become part of the team from day one.\n\nRegarding candidates who want to relocate to Hamburg: Due to COVID our offices are temporarily closed. We will invite you to start working with us from your current location for the time being. Once the borders are reopened, and the Embassies accept visa applications again, we will initiate the relocation process to Hamburg. Until then, you will be invited to work with us remotely with a temporary contract.\n\nWhat You'll Do\n\n\n* Work closely with the engineering team to define best-practices and goals around availability.\n\n* Design, build and operate tooling to address common operations challenges.\n\n* Educate and consult engineering teams on designing, building and operating maintainable, scalable, and reliable backend systems.\n\n* Be responsible for the overall system’s health.\n\n* Debug production issues across multiple services and levels of the stack.\n\n\n\n\nWhat We Value\n\n\n* Jimdo's success is rooted in no small part in consequently using state-of-the-art cloud services. We are looking for engineers that have a solid grasp of cloud technologies and have a strong interest in distributed systems.\n\n* More than 150 million users access our services every day. It is our first- and foremost duty to ensure industry-leading uptime and as little impact as possible when things don't go as planned. You fit right in when you have worked in this environment before and share the same values.\n\n* A track record of diagnosing problems within complex systems\n\n* We leverage different technologies and languages depending on the problem we try to solve, so we value people who are able to pick up new languages when necessary. Right now Go is our default choice.\n\n* You have excellent problem-solving skills. You use a systematic and thorough approach. You think from first principles. You have a bias for action.\n\n\n\n\nJimdo is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. This means that we don’t discriminate based on race or ethnic origin, color, the language(s) you speak, where you (or your parents) are from, or whether or not you consider yourself to have a disability. Neither will your age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, beliefs, or political opinions play a part in your application with us. We’re a diverse team in so many ways, and we love it that way.

We're looking for a talented senior engineer to help build, manage, and scale our Ghost(Pro) PaaS infrastructure, serving over 500M requests/month. This is a key role working in a small team and reporting directly to Ghost's CTO.\n\n# Responsibilities\n All of our infrastructure and systems have gone through several iterations, but have ultimately been built by a small/scrappy team of passionate developers without significant prior sysadmin experience. Our platform these days is pretty solid, but it took us a long time and a lot of trial and error to get here. What we’re looking for now is someone who is comfortable and confident in leading our architecture and taking it to the next level.\n\nFor this position, we're explicitly looking for someone experienced (5+ years sysadmin experience, minimum) and confident in taking on a broad set of responsibilities managing, deploying and maintaining complex projects across several different environments.\n\nExtensive experience in systems management and automation is a must. Experience specifically relating to web hosting at scale, continuous integration, monitoring and performance management is a huge advantage. Previous remote work and startup experience is also very valuable.\n\nOur infrastructure is comprised of about 100 servers across two datacenters, running Ubuntu and managed with Saltstack, sitting behind a fairly deep CDN integration. Most common tech across our instances includes MariaDB, Nginx and Phusion Passenger, LXC, Gluster, and a lot of JavaScript. \n\n# Requirements\nThis role requires someone who is exceptional at clear, frequent communication, especially when identifying and responding to infrastructure failures, as well as…\n\n- 🎛 Analysing infrastructure requirements and optimisations based on app performance and user load scenarios\n- ⚙️ Database clustering and replication management\n- ☎️ Monitoring and on-call alert management\n- 🔑 Common security issues and mitigation strategies\n\nThis role would be well suited to someone in an existing ops team at a fast-paced technology company looking for a more senior position where they’re able to have more control and leadership of systems architecture across a company. There are many of opportunities for growth here as the team expands!\n\nWe don't mind where you're based or what hours you work, but this role does require reasonable working-hours overlap with the rest of our internal/ops engineering team in Europe, as well as availability to be on-call on a rotating schedule in the event of downtime.\n\nWe value diversity of all types at Ghost and our team is made up of a kind, thoughtful group of people with a wide range of backgrounds. We have as many people who speak German as we do English and our engineering team contains as many women as it does men. Some of us are single, others are married, while others are parents. We actively try to find people with different perspectives and experiences to the ones we already have.\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

## **Can you help us automate our infrastructure and build our first SaaS product?**\n\nWe like to build stuff… sometimes complicated stuff… for Non Profits, Charities and Art Galleries. We’re on the lookout for a confident and ambitious Devops / Sysadmin to join our fast growing startup to help us automate our development processes and build our first SaaS product!\n\nYou'll be:\n- Developing our Ansible suite to automate more tasks such as security and deployment releases, site updates and server maintenance\n- Maintaining and developing our Docker containers for developer environments and testing environments\n- Architecting a robust SaaS platform for a really significant Drupal project for the not for profit sector\n- Integrating with Slack/Hipchat/Stride and developing our inhouse chatbot (Compubot!) (or similar)\n- Working closely with the development team to develop command line tools to automate their processes\nIf you live and breath Linux and love reconfiguring Web servers for the LEMP/LAMP stack until they are as secure as a rock but would also enjoy the challenge of developing a new SaaS platform on AWS then we would love to hear from you.\n\n**Skills and requirements**\n\nWe are looking for someone who has:\n- Excellent Linux administration skills.\n- PHP Web server experience (NGINX preferable, Apache useful).\n- Some DB admin experience (Mysql or equivalent).\n- Experience with cloud technologies AWS/Open stack.\n- Previous experience with CI/DevOps tools platforms (i.e. Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, Ansible).\n- Good Git skills (comfortable preparing release branches).\n- Previous PHP deployment automation desirable.\n- Some experience/Knowledge in monitoring tools.\n- Strong collaboration, written and verbal skills.\n- Love creating awesome documentation!\n\nWhilst we'd love to find someone who has all the skills we need, whats most important to us is finding a member of the team who can grasp concepts quickly, has great attention to detail, and most importantly loves a tech challenge. In short, we’re a team of self confessed geeks who love tinkering and tweaking until something is just right and are looking for someone who thinks and acts like us.\n\n**Location**\n\nAt Compucorp we are a distributed team and we welcome people to join us from all around the world, however as a UK based Company some overlap with UK hours will be required. By default you should assume that your working hours would be +/- 3h max from GMT start times of 9.00AM UK start time. There is some flexibility in this but please be aware that staff members starting outside of these hours are rare and as such if you would expect these hours to be an issue for you then we would not suggest that you apply.\n\nFor the Devops role, due to EU data protection requirements, the team member must be from either an EEA country or a country that the EU considers to have adequate level of data protection. The list can be found at the link below:\nhttps://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-data-protection/principle-8-international#eea-countries

We’re looking for an experienced infrastructure engineer to join the team and lead the development of our **Ghost(Pro)** platform and services. This is a senior role reporting directly to Ghost’s CTO, [Hannah](https://github.com/erisds), with plenty of freedom and control to architect a real production system which is already serving over 100million requests a month - with a ton of room for improvement.\n\n\n\nAll of our infrastructure and systems have gone through several iterations, but have ultimately been built by a small/scrappy team of passionate developers without significant prior sysadmin experience. Our platform these days is pretty solid, but it took us a long time and a lot of trial and error to get here. Most common tech across our instances includes MariaDB, Nginx and Phusion Passenger, LXC, Gluster and a whole lot of JavaScript.\n\n\n\nThis role requires someone who is exceptional at clear, frequent communication - in particular around quickly identifying and responding to infrastructure failures, as well as…\n\n\n\n\n\n- Analysing infrastructure requirements and optimisations based on app performance and user load scenarios. \n\n- Database clustering and replication management. \n\n- Monitoring and alert management.\n\n- Common security issues and mitigation strategies.\n\n\n\nLeading our infrastructure is the base which the rest of the team builds on top of, so it is easily one of the most significant and important roles in the entire company.\n\n\n\nPeople who are great at written communication and highly self-motivated tend to do best at Ghost. The majority of the team is made up of former founders, freelancers and self-starters who are confident and comfortable working independently and getting things done.\n\n\n\nThis role would be well suited to someone in an existing ops team at a fast-paced technology company looking for a more senior position where they’re able to have more control and leadership of systems architecture across an entire organisation. \nSenior Type-System Engineer\nLuna is looking for a senior type-system engineer to help build the next generation interpreter and runtime for Luna, a project said by Singularity University to have the potential to change the lives of one-billion people. If you have strong technical skills and a passion for all things compiler, then this role could be the one for you.\n\nAs a type-system engineer you'll work as part of the compiler team to design and implement Luna's new type system, including its underlying theory, type-checker, and inference engine. This wok is _intrinsic_ to Luna's evolution, and will provide you with the opportunity to collaborate with a world-class team of engineers, community managers, and business developers (with experience at Bloomberg, GitHub, PayPal, to name a few), making your mark on Luna's future.\n\nWhat You'll Do\nAs a senior type-system engineer, you'll be working on the design and development of Luna's new type-system, in conjunction with the rest of the compiler team, to help support the language's evolution. This will involve:\n\n\n* Determining and formalising the theoretical underpinnings of the new type system in a way as to ensure its soundness.\n\n* Both theoretical and practical treatments of the theory behind Luna's type system.\n\n* Working with the broader compiler team to implement the type-checking and type-inference engines as part of the greater interpreter.\n\n* Using the type-system's information to improve the interpreter's functionality and performance, as well as how it interacts with the users.\n\n\n\n\nThe Skills We're Looking For\nWe have a few particular skills that we're looking for in this role:\n\n\n* Practical and rich experience writing code in a functional programming language such as Haskell or Scala, including experience with type-level programming techniques (3+ years).\n\n* Experience working with the theory behind powerful type systems, including row types, type-checking and type-inference algorithms, and dependently-typed systems.\n\n* Practical experience building real-world type-systems, including facilities for both type-checking and inference.\n\n* An awareness of the UX impacts of type-systems, and a willingness to minimise their often-intrusive nature.\n\n* Practical experience in building large and complex software systems.\n\n\n\n\nIt would be a big bonus if you had:\n\n\n* Experience writing Java and Scala code, as these will be used to implement the type-system.\n\n* Experience in writing comprehensive regression tests for both type-inference and type-checking systems.\n\n\n\n\nAvoid the confidence gap. You don't have to match all of the skills above to apply!\n\nWho You'll Work With\nYou'll be joining a distributed, multi-disciplinary team that includes people with skills spanning from compiler development to data-science. Though you'll have your area to work on, our internal culture is one of collaboration and communication, and input is always welcomed.\n\nWe firmly believe that only by working together, rather than putting our team members in their own boxes, can we create the best version of Luna that can be.\n\nThe Details\nAs part of the Luna team you'd be able to work from anywhere, whether that be at home, or on the go! We have team members distributed across the world, from San Francisco, to London, to Kraków. We welcome remote work and flexible schedules, or you can work from the Kraków office (or our planned SF office) if you'd like. We can provide competitive compensation and holiday, as well as the possibility\nof equity as time goes on.\n\nHow To Apply?\nSend us an email at [email protected], and tell us a little bit about yourself and why you think you'd be a good fit for the role! You can also tell us about:\n\n\n* Some of your past work or projects.\n\n* Why you'd like to work on Luna, and where you imagine Luna being in 5 years.\n\n* The most important features of a team that you'd like to work in.\n\n* Whether you take pride in your ability to communicate clearly and efficiently with your team.\n\n\n

This job post is archived and the position is probably filled. Please do not apply.
\nSenior Site Reliability Engineer (remote / London)\n\nWhat makes Ably special?\nAbly helps power next generation digital experiences through its distributed global messaging cloud-based platform. Ones which are live rather than static, where data is in motion rather than at rest. Read a recent blog post on the distributed systems problems we think about and work on each day.\n\nWhat we can offer you\nWorking at Ably means you are working on a cutting-edge distributed internet-scale platform that spans 20+ data centres, soon to support multiple clouds delivering potentially trillions of messages for developers. You will learn with the best. You will have autonomy and freedom to experiment and improve. You will be part of a dynamic team and a business that is growing rapidly.\n \nJob description\nIf you don't know what a Site Reliability Engineer is, we recommend you first read Google's definition of a Site Reliability Engineer, which we are in agreement with.\n\nAs a Senior Engineer in our Site Reliability Engineering team, you’ll build solutions to enhance availability, performance and stability of the Ably platform as well as developing new network services whilst automating away repetitive work. You'll also respond to pings, pages and alerts to investigate issues in our products that you can really sink your teeth into. You'll be working on non-production and production environments, monitoring, data collection and configuration management, as well as disaster recovery planning, capacity engineering, reliability improvement initiatives and platform automation. The team needs someone who can ask questions, learn from others and turn chaos into order.\n\nThis role would be a great fit for someone with creative and innovative problem solving skills with a willingness to take responsibility for the code you write all the way to production. You will develop and implement solutions that operate at scale - seeing your own technology efforts directly improve the reliability of our products. Our teams are empowered and expected to improve our products to truly deliver a reliable experience to customers. \n\nIf you're excited by working on truly complex problems at internet-scale with smart engineers, you'll enjoy working at Ably.\n\nOur infrastructure stack:\n\n\n* Infrastructure languages: Ruby, Go, Bash.\n\n* Service languages: Go, Elixir, Node.js and some C.\n\n* Mostly AWS based, but we are working on supporting other clouds.\n\n* Architecture: Exclusively Docker containers for all services, servers are immutable, ephemeral and disposed of frequently, code is packaged as slugs, datacenters (circa 20) are isolated and autonomous, critical shared services always have redundancy baked in, manual configuration of any infrastructure is a smell.\n\n* Data services: Cassandra (our realtime datastore, 3 regions, 6 data centers), Influx, Elastic, Kibana, Grafana, etc.\n\n* Web site: We use Rails & Heroku for simplicity. The web service is not part of our "core product" and thus has lower uptime requirements.\n\n\n\n\n\nSee https://goo.gl/cDUirr and https://goo.gl/XDpmBi for a taster on the lengths we go to at each layer in the stack to ensure 100% service uptime.  \n \nDay to day you can expect to be working on:\n\n\n* Writing Ruby code for our infrastructure automation, orchestration, configuration and continuous integration testing of our infrastructure.\n\n* Writing Go code for our core routing, workers and infrastructure services.\n\n* Making extensive use of a wide range of AWS services. Whilst we primarily use AWS for our infrastructure, in time we expect that to change as we span other cloud services.\n\n* Managing and developing out our continuous integration services that test every aspect of the service, from infrastructure tools, to our health servers, routers, realtime services, protocol adaptors and client libraries.  Our CI environment is mature, yet we would like to continue to evolve our CI environments to help improve the robustness of the platform and reduce risk of regressions.\n\n* Being exposed to our other development environments such as Node.js and Elixir, both used extensively in our realtime services.\n\n* Working with the realtime engineering team to ensure our infrastructure supports the ever changing networking, security and processing requirements.\n\n* Collaborating with the team to design, discuss and implement new features and services.\n\n* Diagnosing and fixing bugs in all areas of our platform.  You will often be working at very low levels in the network stack to help diagnose difficult to identify distributed problems.\n\n* Work with the engineering team to enable them to take responsibility for the complete lifecycle of the features and code they deliver i.e. pull request, reviews, testing, deploy to staging and sandbox environments, then into production environments. We are strong believers in all developers being responsible for deploying their own code.\n\n* Contributing to open source projects that we support or use in our products.  All of our client libraries are open source as well and may require your support at times.\n\n* Helping customers solve problems they are experiencing that may help us find bugs in the platform.\n\n* Support the wider team in regards to documentation and customer support.\n\n* Suggestions for new features or improvements to our protocol and API specifications.\n\n\n\n\n \nBenefits\n\n\n* Salary range: €40k to €85k.\n\n* Employee options: Yes, negotiable.\n\n* Holidays: 25+ days excluding national holidays.\n\n* This role can be remote or on-site in our London office. However, if you are working remotely, you will need to be in a European timezone so that we can communicate effectively during business hours, and you will need to be close enough to visit our office in London occasionally.  Our preference is to have a team member near enough to commute to our London office when necessary. You will benefit from a flexible working environment in which working from home and managing your own working hours sensibly is the norm. \n\n* Work in an environment where code quality, technical challenges and delivery is what we all care about. \n\n* Skills development is intrinsic in the job. We're largely working on unsolved problems each day, and such, there is plenty of scope to widen your knowledge and skillset.\n\n* Work with genuinely nice and smart people who care about code quality and enjoying their jobs.\n\n\n\n\n\nRequirements\n\n\n* Experience: A minimum of a three years of professional experience with Go as Go is used in all our routing and infrastructure services.  Our infrastructure automation and orchestration layer requires you to be proficient in Ruby. You should have experience using both statically and dynamically typed languages. Experience with Node.js and Elixir/Erlang is beneficial. You must have solid experience managing infrastructure and CI environments, and any distributed or large scale infrastructure management is preferred. Understanding of distributed systems is beneficial.\n\n* Pragmatic: A problem solver excited by the prospect of automating your job away and working autonomously to solve problems and bring solutions to the team.\n\n* Fast Learner: We’re looking for software engineers who thrive on applying their knowledge, learning new technologies.  Our stack is diverse, and we expect it to continue to grow.\n\n* Testing: Experience using testing frameworks and adoption of test driven development where applicable.\n\n* Communication: We use tools such as Slack throughout the day to communicate, however we believe in voice conversations to discuss and solve problems. You must be proficient in spoken and written English, be eager to collaborate with the engineering team and constructively welcome code reviews.\n\n* Customers: Comfortable talking to customers and assisting them with their technical issues and integration.\n\n* Open source: We prefer developers who have contributed back to the open source community, even if those contributions are small. \n\n\n\n\nAre you up for the challenge?\nApply now via the application form. We have the expertise we need in BW and other SAP modules.\nBO was installed some years ago - maybe around 4-5 years old\nWe use version 4.1 right now with service pack service pack 2.\nWe need to get an estimate on how we could proceed - and what is the cost.\nIt seems that we bought a lot of licenses, but maybe not using them.\nOne of the SAP basis people is doing SAP license review, but he doesn’t have the knowledge to do it on BO.\nWe would like to have a dashboard where we can see what BO licenses we are using.\nI think that there is a few hundred of users registered, we don’t know if they are using it. We have some concurrent user licenses (175 or something like that)\nWe use it for Financial Dashboard, 10-20 users and some other reports\nYou will be working together with infrastructure people and BO developers from the company.\nWe need everything in the BO platform documented - and knowledge handed over to us.\nMaybe also some maintenance manuals for our installation needs to be created.\n\nHours: fulltime\nDuration: Project will last aprox 1,5 - 2 month\nTravels: Yes some travel to Denmark and/or Holland for organise and host a SAP BO workshop

It takes creativity and skill to weave diverse requirements into the functionality our customers have come to depend on. \n\nStrong candidates will love many of the things that we love, such as: deploying new core functionality, automating processes, streamlining delivery, and building great tools that are a joy to use. We value work/life balance, personal respect, code ownership by engineers, and experimentation. If all this sounds like your dream job, read on: \n\nResponsibilities:\n\n\n* Work directly inside development teams with an eye towards developing for operational readiness.\n\n* Improve and build upon our automation tools for systems provisioning, monitoring, trending, and management.\n\n* Independently learn new technologies and master the New Relic platform so that you can provide 'full stack' diagnostics, when necessary, to help determine the root cause of internal problems.\n\n* Communicate effectively with fellow SREs and other engineering teams, and describe problems succinctly with sufficient detail that you can hand-off an ongoing problem to another team or a peer for completion.\n\n* Strategize with fellow SREs and other engineering teams on complex problems, and make decisions and recommendations about systems improvements after analyzing possible courses of conduct.\n\n* Perform periodic on-call duty as part of a global team maintaining the availability and performance of the New Relic site and APIs used by third-party services, as well as the various internal services and systems that these core interfaces depend on.\n\n\n

\nWe’re looking for a Senior Systems Engineer who cares about building, improving, and scaling systems that enrich the personal and professional lives of our customers. Our products are used in libraries, startups, classrooms and fortune 500 companies.  We help people teach themselves, share knowledge, and succeed in their careers.\n\n\nIn this role, you’ll work alongside our team of Systems Engineers with the explicit goals of collaborating with developers and helping a broad range of colleagues use our infrastructure to solve problems.\n\n\nA Senior Systems Engineer at Safari is responsible for infrastructure automation for our web applications (namely monitoring, metrics, log analysis, and server deployment), and supporting our diverse development team. You should have a sense of pride, ownership, and responsibility toward the systems you work on, which means that you do something when see a problem, even if it isn’t always you that fixes it.\n\n\nYour Skills & Our Environment\n\nOur existing application environment runs Ubuntu 12.04/14.04 LTS, Postgres, Nginx, Uwsgi, Chef, and VMware. There is a growing interest in Docker throughout the organization and it’s our job to help evaluate and support its adoption if it becomes a viable tool for everyone. . Other additions include Logentries, Fast.ly, and RabbitMQ. We dabble in Python and Ruby to change things more sustainably and reliably.\n\n\nWe expect you to have a good foundation in both virtualization and configuration management and be comfortable around a data center. In addition, you should be familiar with scaling services to make them stable and reliable. It’s most important that you’re curious (never treating anything as a “black box” that couldn’t be better understood), and interested in making everything incrementally better than the current iteration.\n\n\nWe want you to be constantly learning, and have a thirst for knowledge. Your should work inspire you make you want to share what you’ve learned with the rest of the team. We want to see you constantly exploring ways to make “bad” things “good” and “good” things “great”. You should show us how you’ve grown professionally and how you’ve made the places you’ve worked even better.\n\n\nWe are dedicated to experimentation, strong relationships with our product and engineering colleagues, and a core belief in work-life balance. We welcome diversity and non-traditional paths into the technology profession, and advocate strongly for hiring the right person as opposed to the right combination of technology keywords.\n\n\nSome Things You’ll Work On\n\n\n* Participate in a weekly 24/7 on-call schedule. You’d be on about every 6 weeks. Like you, none of us here likes being woken up by the pager, least of all when there’s no action to take on an alert, so we have a goal of driving those alerts to zero through a process of iteration and improvement. In the last 9 months we’ve gone from 14% actionable alerts to 70% actionable alerts.\n\n* Improving our automation. We hate doing repetitive boring tasks and strive to spend our time doing fun and exciting things instead. You’ll be expected to improve our existing automation infrastructure and making machines do the boring stuff. You’ll be writing Chef cookbooks and recipes, testing them, getting feedback from your peers and deploying to production daily if need be.\n\n* Building services for our internal customers. One of the primary drivers of our group is to enable others to be more awesome, so you’ll improve our existing services, make them scale, make them more reliable. You’ll also build new services when you see an opportunity to help your co-workers.\n\n* Work hand-in-hand with our Engineering colleagues. There’s no throwing problems over the wall around here. Everyone brings a different vantage and expertise to the problems we see, expect to over-communicate, and not be afraid to jump on a Hangout or walk down the hall to talk face to face during a problem solving session.\n\n\n

\nIf you’re smart, passionate about technology and enjoy solving complex technical challenges then you should apply to join our best-in-class tech team. We believe that people are our most important asset and one worth protecting. As such, we’re known for creating an enviable working culture to keep our employees smiling on a day to day basis. \n\nWe offer things such as flexible hours, remote working, fortnigtly hackathons and freedom to work on projects of individual interest to name just a few. In fact, our impressive working culture has recently earned us 1st place in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work for 2015. \n\n\nWe have two different positions.\n\n\n1. Senior Developers who would like to lead a team / projects - We envisage the split here being about 70% hands-on coding and 30% leading the team, liaising with product owners on prioritization work, attending iteration planning meetings with stakeholders, delegating tasks to dev team, and making sure we are following Lean / Agile processes correctly.\n\n\n2. Senior Developers who want to be 100% coders (non-lead) - This role will be 100% hands on working with our other Devs to code beautiful products for our customers! \n\n\n\nSome of our Current Projects: \n\nSeedy - Our custom built CMS. A hybrid, markdown based, sinatra driven CMS but with a TDD undercurrent. Content changes are no different to backend refactoring. Templates are written in a custom DSL that enforces our style guide while still supporting iterative changes and automatic deployment. Across the company people (including business teams) are now being tagged in pull requests and even writing code!\n\nAerie - We’re overhauling our data and analytics architecture. Using the latest approaches in event streaming, we are building a brand new data pipeline based on Kinesis and Redshift that will support the analysis of both structured and semi-structured data in near real-time. This will provide rapid and intuitive customer insight to our decision makers, while also providing exciting machine learning capabilities back to our core product offering.\n\nAAA - We are enhancing our new world platform. Our current focus is on security with a view to building out ‘infrastructure as code’ using tools such as AWS CloudFormation, AWS OpsWorks, Chef/Puppet and many others. Essentially, we believe a well architected system allows us to avoid unnecessary complexity and can enable individuals to generate great output.\n\nOur Tech Stack\n\n\n\n\n* Ruby\n\n* Rails                                                                                                                            \n\n* Scala  \n\n* MongoDB\n\n* RabbitMQ\n\n* Puppet/Boxen\n\n* AWS                                                                                                                        \n\n* Hadoop / RedShift / Looker /Tableau\n\n* Cucumber / RSpec / Jasmine                              \n\n* SASS / HAML / HTML5 / CSS3 / JavaScript / CoffeeScript / jQuery\n\n\n\n\n\nThis list changes all the time, as being on the lookout for new technology trials and opportunities is part of our code. We don’t believe in limiting ourselves, or the company. If there are other tools that could get the job done better, we’re committed to exploring them.\n\nThings we believe in:\n\n\n\n\n* TDD / BDD\n\n* Continuous Delivery\n\n* Pair Programming\n\n* Build – Measure - Learn\n\n* Active participation to open source\n\n* Our business people writing code (we've not seen this anywhere else!)                                \n\n* Cross functional teams (Dev / QA/ Data / UX / Product owners all sitting together)            \n\n* Release early and learn quickly - we release our software to production around 15 times a day on average!        \n\n* Continuous learning - we look to pay for courses and conferences and actively encourage our Devs to get out and about in the community. We have even sent some of our Devs to Miami, Portugal and Barcelona for conferences recently.                                                              \n\n* Have fun! We do ruby coding challenges during lunchtimes over pizza, we have desk beers on a friday, we have several social events throughout the year, we do fortnightly hackathons, we have afterwork clubs like: UX, Data science and Robotics club, we have flexible working hours, weekly 'show n tell' sessions, and lot's more!                                                                                                 \n\n\n

\nActivision Blizzard USA is seeking to add a senior technical member to our team on a contract basis. We hope you have heard of us! We are a premier global entertainment technology company, with a 30-year track record of beloved game hits: Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Guitar Hero, and many, many other titles.\n\n\nWe’ve got an advanced technology initiative underway around **real-time** business intelligence. It involves rapid handling of a mountain of continuous logging data. =)\n\n\nWe’re looking for veteran System Administrators in South Korea to join our team as **offsite after-hours** DevOps members.\n\n\nThis means you can work from **wherever you want** as long as we establish sufficient security standards. It is **not necessary** that you reside in the USA. We know there are talented and reliable people all over the world today.\n\n\nYour responsibilities, as you already know in general, are server design, setup, maintenance, and monitoring. We will be hosting on AWS.\n\n\nThe positions will initially be 3-to-6-month contracts, with the potential to be extended to long-term or employee status after internal scale-up of the platform we are building.\n\n\nWe understand that not many people will have direct experience with **all** of the bits and pieces listed below. Checking all the boxes is not important. The important thing is that you have some experience with large production environments handling a lot of data and throughput + passion for the craft that we all share + a love of ongoing learning to keep yourself at the top of the game. In this modern era of rapid technology evolution, how quickly you can master new skills increasingly outweighs a dust library in-your-head of evaporating skills-inventory.\n\n\nFor this type of DevOps role, excellent English communication is obviously vital. When issues crop up you need to be able to jump on it instantly, alert the rest of the team, and document what you are doing clearly and precisely.\n\n\nIf you’re interested, please email me right away with your resume or professional bio:\n\n\[email protected]\n\n\nPlease do forward this on to others that you think might fit the bill.\n\n\nThe Laundry List:\n\n\n*** DevOps environment ***\n\nHosting: AWS\n\nTask tracking: JIRA\n\nCode repositories: Github, Stash\n\nContinuous integration: Jenkins\n\nDeployment: Docker\n\nApplication development: Java and Python\n\n\n*** Server stack ***\n\nLinux\n\nApache Storm\n\nKafka\n\nCassandra\n\nLogstash\n\n\n*** Monitoring and Maintenance ***\n\nAWS tools\n\nStatsD\n\nSensu / Monit / Nagios\n\n\n*** System components ***\n\nGrafana / Graphite\n\nElasticsearch / Kibana

\nThe Lead Developer for our college readiness skills learning support system, called JUICE, will have a unique opportunity to own the MEAN technology stack and software development for an innovative tutorial learning system we’re creating for College for America (CfA)  at Southern New Hampshire University.  CfA is an online, radically affordable, competency-based program for underserved working adults. We’ve been nationally recognized for innovation and received a 4-year First in the World grant from the US Department of Education to design and develop a fully online competency-based learning system to support students’ foundational college readiness skills in an entirely new way. We’re completing the learning design phase now, we have a key technology partner on board for educational game design, and we’re looking for the right senior software engineer with great experience who is looking for an opportunity to own application development for this new learning technology. We work as a small, cross-functional team within a very friendly group of creative, smart educators at College for America. We work remotely as well as onsite here in the Manchester office.\n\nJUICE is being developed in a Cloud-based, modular architecture based on the MEAN stack (MongoDB-Express-AngularJS-Node.js) for delivery of the learning experiences.  JUICE technology makes ample use of open source software and low-initial investment services. JUICE is designed for longer-term growth within CfA following the research phase, and is also designed for extensibility and open sharing as part of the Department of Education’s First in The World (FITW) program goals. JUICE development includes an LTI-based integration with the CfA learning management system. The JUICE production environment will support a randomized control trial study, while continuing development for a full product launch following completion of the study.\n\nThe Lead Developer is the primary software engineer and oversees the work of key external partners for development of mini-games, widgets, or content authoring tools. The Lead Developer consults with a Senior Technology Advisor on strategy, software architecture, and system operations. The Senior Developer reports to the Deputy Director of JUICE and works in a small, fast-paced cross-functional team as a key partner in all aspects of designing and building, creating interactive learning content experiences, conducting efficacy research, and delivering the JUICE learning system. \n\nWorking remotely within North America is an option, but we cannot consider employees overseas, unfortunately.\n\nThis position is also posted on the Southern New Hampshire University website at https://snhu.peopleadmin.com/postings/14754. SNHU is a great college to work for, as shown by our high ranking in The Chronicle of Higher Education’s “Great Colleges to Work for 2014” survey!

\nTechnology isn’t the answer to questions of poverty, public health, education, and the environment, but it shouldn’t be the problem. The current landscape is disjointed and it’s prohibitively difficult for most NGOs to turn promising technologies into better decisions. We’re building an AppStore and data-integration platform that helps social-impact organizations find, connect, and successfully implement key technologies. openFn is a non-profit, open-source project that's funded both by forward thinking foundations and revenue from our integration product.\n\nAs the first full-time senior technical hire you’ll own the codebase. It’s built on Ruby, PostgreSQL, Angular.js, and Heroku. The core functions are (1) guiding users to the right external technologies (e.g., electronic medical record systems, analytics tools, data capture apps, mobile payment systems, sms gateways, etc.), then (2) allowing them to build complex data integrations across these technologies through a simple, point-and-click interface. You’ll have leeway to redesign the stack if necessary, ensuring that the platform is optimally efficient as more and more endpoint technologies are added.\nYou’ll work primarily with openFn's founder, Taylor Downs, winner of the first annual Harvard SECON Social Impact Award, member of Forbes 30 under 30, and co-founder and former CEO of Vera Solutions—technology partner to over 125 leading impact-first organizations in over 40 countries. You’ll also have access to programming support from our external development firm and collaborate with product designers and developers around the world who are building technologies for social change.\n
