The Ruby on Rails Engineer position is vital to the success of our company.{linebreak}{linebreak}You’ll use your initiative in implementing API’s and integrations to address our business needs along with the rest of the engineering team. Both our clients and staff will be using the software you write. Our small and close knit engineering team currently consists of a UX specialist, 2 frontend engineers, one backend engineer, one WordPress engineer and several QA specialists. You’ll work closely with the team to implement solutions for all departments within Empire Flippers, be it compliance, customer support, sales and migrations. You’ll work closely with the frontend and WordPress engineers to ensure features are implemented correctly to the highest standard, and you’ll work closely with one more backend engineer to ensure scalability, speed, code cleanliness and readability.{linebreak}{linebreak}The feature set will have already been decided on – it’s your responsibility to plough ahead with the implementation and to ensure the user experience is elevated to unprecedented levels and ultimately, close more deals.{linebreak}{linebreak}# Responsibilities{linebreak} We believe in hiring people that are a good fit for us culturally.{linebreak}{linebreak}A good fit is actually more important to us than the skill set since we will teach you everything you need to know.{linebreak}{linebreak}You should have a few good years of experience under your belt, having implemented some complex, data driven applications. Your portfolio speaks louder than your words.{linebreak}{linebreak}You should be a ninja with every component of our tech stack. You must have a complete working knowledge of RoR in API mode, SQL, Postgres, Sidekiq, Rspec, Git, Redis.{linebreak}{linebreak}Experience working with a wide range of 3rd party integrations. Our platform talks to many 3rd party applications, you should have experience building and maintaining such integrations in a test driven fashion.{linebreak}{linebreak}Dev-ops/sysadmin skills. Experience with managing servers, maintaining hosting environments, being responsible for uptime and responsiveness, addressing bottlenecks, ensuring backups are kept safe and sound.{linebreak}{linebreak}You need to have immaculate attention to detail. We need to hear you grunting and moaning if something doesn’t quite look or feel right, to the nearest code change and to the nearest hexadecimal color, to the point you become annoying to us. At times other developers may edit your code, you’ll be watching to ensure the code base remains readable, scalable and fast.{linebreak}{linebreak}Be a good communicator. It sounds very cliché, but you’ll immerse yourself in almost every department, you’ll be learning problems and presenting solutions, and also overseeing the implementation of those solutions too.{linebreak}{linebreak}A self-starter. We need to see some evidence that you’re able to get up every morning, bite the bullet and just get on with it, even if you’ve tried four coffee shops and none have decent wifi. You won’t have eyes looking over your shoulder on a day to day basis, you’ll be working in almost full autonomy, we’ll need to trust you to deliver the goods. We don’t believe in micro-management.{linebreak}{linebreak}The following skills/experience would be a bonus, but not required:{linebreak}{linebreak}React. Our client code is written in React. Being able to navigate the front-end code and patch things up would be a huge bonus.{linebreak}{linebreak}PHP/WordPress. We will be interfacing with WordPress significantly, being able to speak the same language would be great.{linebreak}{linebreak}Databases. A comprehensive experience working with various types of SQL and noSQL databases would be very useful. MySQL, Postgres, DynamoDB, Cassandra, to name a few.{linebreak}{linebreak}Caching. The software we’re building needs to be fast and to remain fast as we scale, both in terms of traffic and database size. Having experience with Memcached, Redis, Varnish or experience with complicated CDN setups with many rules would be a plus. {linebreak}{linebreak}# Requirements{linebreak}Here is the sequence of events we use when hiring our Rails Engineer:{linebreak}{linebreak}You record a YouTube video* explaining who you are and why you’re a good fit for the position, fill out an application, and submit it ASAP.{linebreak}The deadline is the 1st of May 2019.{linebreak}We review submissions and schedule interviews.{linebreak}Second interviews are conducted, and a final decision is made.{linebreak}The chosen candidate will begin in May. {linebreak}{linebreak}#Salary{linebreak}40-90K DOQ{linebreak}

Helpjuice is a SaaS product with large Enterprise customers such as Hertz, US Government, Nginx and others. We help many companies with their help center / knowledge base via our product: Helpjuice.com{linebreak}We're a smaller, yet growing software company, where everyone wears multiple hats. It's a team of excellent people, who are all willing to help each other, because it's the way we work / our culture.{linebreak}We're currently seeking a Senior Rails developer, with great English, and even better Rails skills. You should be really good with English -- almost excellent! :-){linebreak}Here's what we're looking for:{linebreak}- Great English. Seriously, don't waste your time if your English isn't good enough to write/read/talk with it daily, with all of our team.{linebreak}- Really good in Rails (backend) + Javascript (Frontend). Rails alone won't get you much, and you know that -- thats why you need JS to build high performance fast web apps in 2018..{linebreak}- Cool person. We'll be working a lot together, we want you to enjoy it, just like we do!{linebreak}Here's what we offer:{linebreak}- Well paid salary. We don't monkey around, we pay well if we think you're great.{linebreak}- Smart team. Expect to learn...a LOT. Not just in development, but in other areas aswell, as you'll be working w/ other team mates (support, sales, product management){linebreak}- Interesting product to work on. Imagine a product that thousands of businesses rely on, and that's entirely bootstrapped -- Yes, you'll for sure learn a lot, and have fun...and be a bit stressed at times :-){linebreak}- Flexible hours/management. I'm the CEO - and I'm writing this job post. I'm very hands off with my team, because we have a great team -- everyone is great, which is why I can just rely on them to do their job and NOT micromanage. TLDR; It's a fun work environment :-){linebreak}How To Apply?{linebreak}Fill out ALL the questions in our application form -- if you don't want to share code samples, we totally get it, but we believe no good developer has 0 public repos on their Github (you may argue with us, but this is our policy).
