Your Role

Weโ€™re seeking a dedicated Full-Stack Ruby on Rails Developer for a remote and full-time position. As a company, we value great design and code, and pay close attention to detail throughout the product development process. If youโ€™re passionate about design, aesthetics, writing elegant, well-organized code and abstracting components this may be the perfect opportunity for you.

You'll be working directly with the founder to keep expanding on our vision and helping deliver a better experience to our customers. Apart from coding, you'll also engage in strategic discussions, contribute to architectural decision-making, and influence the roadmap of VIVA.

Responsibilities

As the lead developer, your daily tasks will include:

  • Building new features and functionality for both the frontend and backend.
  • Designing and implementing a new API (Rest/GraphQL) using Ruby on Rails to support the future native Android and iOS apps.
  • Craft stunning web components using technologies such as TailwindUI, Tailwind CSS, ViewComponent, and JavaScript frameworks like Vue.js, React.js or Hotwire.
  • Identify and refactor common functions from current views into web components, aiding in the establishment of a cohesive and unified design system.
  • Develop ERB views utilizing HTML, Tailwind, CSS, and components conforming to Sketch or Figma specifications.
  • Integrating external third-party services and APIs, such as OpenAI for content recommendations, text-to-speech and payment methods.
  • Assisting in scaling efforts by performing benchmarks and optimizations as needed, and proposing changes to architecture design.
  • Author integration tests for components in Rails (RSpec) and JavaScript (for example, Jest).

Qualifications

Without deep experience scaling databases and queues, feature teams often make common mistakes trying to use these systems. We try to get out ahead of that, building solutions that will scale without running into common problems like hot spots, uneven load distribution, and general poor performance.\n\n\nThe Role:\n\n\nThe QSS team is building a suite of tooling to automatically deploy a relational database platform that is fully managed within a feature squadโ€™s service. Schema management, change data capture, replication, denormalization, and aggregation is all managed automatically by the platform. This role has the opportunity to convert to a full time hire on the founding team. \nWhat youโ€™ll do:\n\n\n* Be responsible for creating and delivering the overall vision for the product including the development of the 12+ month product roadmap for feature & product development, and execute on the build of the project by managing technology vendors to build out the initial product offering, including contractors & software licenses. \n\n* Own product strategy and build for a tech-enabled services platform, including discrete use cases for health systems, risk-bearing organizations, and patients. \n\n* Manage the product organizationโ€™s budget; inform build vs buy technology decisions and partner closely with Engineering around MVP build, EHR integrations, and data governance. \n\n* Partner with the CEO to lead product discussions with potential customers.\n\n* Own the overall success of the product and create transparency through OKRs that contribute to the overall success of the companyโ€™s product launch and growth. \n\n\n\nWhat youโ€™ll need:\n\nBackground\n\n\n* 7+ years of experience with product management, with at least 2 years of experience in a 0 - 1 product environment where you successfully launched this type of tech-enabled services product leveraging a hybrid care delivery model. \n\n* 3+ years of experience developing technology solutions with a focus on clinical workflow, transitions of care, patient engagement, and medication adherence in at least one of the following areas: care management, clinical decision-making, telehealth, virtual care delivery, and/or clinical assessment and management.\n\n* 3+ years experience managing technical resources & leading engineering discussions both off-shore and on-shore (You're able to translate the PM requirements to engineers and lead those engineering discussions) \n\n* Experience with data and product architecture and data governance\n\n\n\n\nWho you are: \n\n\n* A Builder.
