**About us:**\n\nDrops’ goal is to turn language learning into a delightful game while ensuring effective learning. Drops is one of the top10 most innovative education companies according to FastCompany. Our app is in the Appstore for 3+ years, teaches 32 languages, was featured by both the App Store and Play Store multiple times - App of the Year in 2018 on the Play Store - and the company is still run by the founders. We are a small, super-capable remote team mainly spread across Europe (we have a small marketing crew in California) . We’re working synchronously, so time zones matter for us. We communicate via Slack, Github and Monday. We want to be the no.1 app for vocabulary learning and we are getting there quickly with our current user base of 17 million, a monthly active of >1,500,000 and an average store rating of 4.7.\n\n**You can find us here: http://drops.app.link/**\n\n\n**✨ What makes us different?**\n* We’re a small team. We optimise for impact, not headcount. \n* We carefully consider tradeoffs in product, technology and processes that could lead to increased complexity.\n* We use React Native on the frontend, hence we have no separate Android, iOS and Web team.\n* We don’t believe in hierarchy. Autonomy, ownership and passion are the secret ingredients behind Drops. Clear, honest communication is the linchpin of our culture, success and independence.\n\n\n# Responsibilities\n **👀 Here’s what we’re currently after:**\n* Willing to dedicate yourself to long-term cooperation\n* Working on high-level UX problems as well as specific UI solutions related to growth and core product experiments and perhaps some simple graphic design bits.\n* Taking part in setting the product priorities, helping to guide the development of Drops.\n* Drops is a UI design intensive product. You'll help out in establishing and following the Drops design system/guidelines with the goal to keep our product consistent and the design debt low.\n* Acting as a project lead. This means organising project kick-offs, framing project opportunities and overseeing the conversation and collaboration during projects.\n* Drawing design implications - creating rapid prototypes - out of quickly moving business requirements. We are looking for a type of designer who has very high standards but at the same time is OK shipping design concepts quickly if needed.\n* Explaining and rationalising your design concepts to the team through annotations and remote presentations. Be the voice of both our customers and our business.\n* Working as part of an agile-inspired team owning key pieces of functionality and juggling priorities from one sprint to the other.\n* Drawing upon existing design standards and pattern libraries, as well as identifying opportunities to expand them where necessary.\n* Producing sketches, wireframes, flows or interactive prototypes to depict proposed functionality to the team or potential users.\n* Running casual hands-on user testing sessions. \n* Organise and manage remote usability testing\n* Besides our flagship product, Drops, you might work on other apps in our portfolio - Scripts, Droplets - which are all related to the flagship app.\n \n\n# Requirements\n**🦹‍ Skills and experience You have:**\n* Available during European working hours: 9AM - 6PM GMT \n* Passionate about app design (both iOS and Android), motion and your craft.\n* Fluent in Adobe products and Sketch\n* Able to self organise and communicate clearly in English - both verbally and in text\n* Comfortable working alone, autonomously in a remote environment\n* Have experience working with development teams\n* Capable and have a degree or postgraduate design orientated qualification OR have equivalent work experience.\n* Love both strategy and hands-on UX.\n* Active in seeking feedback and able to constantly challenge yourself and others.\n* Bonus points if you are able to demonstrate experience with one or more of the core skills the team employes daily at Drops be that marketing, search optimisation, coding, user testing, language learning, education, game creation/gamification, iconography etc...\n\n**Perks:**\n\n* 🌍 All the perks of remote working\n* 👥 An awesomely compact 20 person team\n* 🧠 Yearly educational allowance\n* 💪 Fitness allowance\n* 💻 High-end Apple hardware and ergonomic accessories\n* 🏖 30 days of holiday per year (including Xmas and other holidays)\n* ✈️ Quarterly team gathering somewhere in the world (Amsterdam, Reykjavík, Lisbon and Budapest were previous locations)\n\nyagJzhkdapAsCMnUw7CpJAMi\n\n#Location\n- 🇪🇺EU-only

**Mission:** Shape everything 'design' at Aula and be the guiding voice for design throughout the whole product. \n\n**Who:** A humble and curious product designer who loves to deliver quality work that delivers impact. Aula is an **educational** technology company and that is a big reason for why you are applying.\n\n**How:** Work on all levels of the product, from gathering feedback from educators and students to designing beautiful solutions. Work hand-in-hand with product managers, engineers, learning specialists and our VP Product to implement your designs.\n\n## About you\n\nWe’re excited to tell you about Aula and what we’re working on, but first of all, let us explain who we’re looking for. The most important thing about you is that you are curious and care deeply about designing great products that affect people’s lives. You are excited about joining a startup with all the ups and downs that entails. You are transparent, reliable, considerate and ready to work hard to further our mission.\n\nYou have a real passion for precise design systems and designing mouth-watering user experiences. 🍭\n\nWhether you've previously worked at a startup, an agency or on your own projects, you've designed for both mobile and desktop, have experience leading the conceptualisation of a feature, an app or a whole design system. +1 if you have front-end engineering experience/interest.\n\n**Your location is flexible** - Aula is a fully distributed company - No offices :) You will be working with folks in the USA, Canada, UK, Netherlands, Georgia... You can be based anywhere from **GMT-6** to **GMT+1**, although we would need to be able to fly you into the UK a few times in the year.\n\nYou understand what working at a fast-pace startup means. We get close to our users to try to understand in detail their needs but we then trust our intuition to move fast. Aula will not be a place where we take months to research, design, build and ship, we design efficiently and don't hesitate to iterate constantly.\n\n# Responsibilities\n We’re looking for a complete product designer who enjoys working on a design solution from beginning to end.\n\n- Sitting down with students, educators, university administrators and the rest of the team to clearly understand existing infrastructures and determine existing pain points.\n- Conceptualise design solutions.\n- Design those solutions to the pixel.\n- Help the engineering team implement the designs.\n\nYou can be working at all levels, from designing a whole app from scratch to going into detailed optimisations for our custom-designed editor or the chat structure of our direct messages.\n \n\n# Requirements\n**You are the type of person who**\n\n- Appreciates the value of diverse and inclusive teams.\n- Isn’t afraid to meet teachers and understand teaching workflows.\n- Can seamlessly transition from collaborating with the PM on understanding the problem to working with engineers to implement the solution.\n- Wants to foster a culture of no-ego team players.\n- Can arrange a working day with 6 hours of overlap with the workday in GMT (and no further East than GMT +1).\n\n**You’ve done some of these things**\n\n- Been part of an excellent product-focused organisation, working directly with PMs and engineers.\n- Worked to increase engagement as part of your measure of success on a previous project.\n- Worked on an Agile development team with incremental releases (or continuous delivery). \n\n#Salary\n$85,000\nyagJzhkdapAsCMnUw7CpJAMi\n\n#Location\n- GMT -6 / +1
