\nThe Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC) is hiring a Software Developer to scale web based literacy tools that help teachers develop skills to help their students master literacy skills. In this role, you will be designing and developing cross-enterprise tools and services. You will be responsible for understanding teacher needs and developing tools that help improve literacy instruction primarily in 6th through 12th grade language arts, science and social studies classes.\n\n\nOur team is looking for a Web Developer with the knowledge and skills to build highly interactive software interfaces and interoperable solutions.  You should be a  talented and experienced back-end developer with expertise in creating APIs for interactive web based applications.  You should have a solid background and understanding of best practices in the fundamentals of software development. You should enjoy adding value to a very talented team that includes a designer, developers, expert teachers, and business partners.  You should be passionate about building teacher friendly, engaging websites and highly scalable distributed systems.

We help our partners analyze data to drive change and achieve sustainable, large-scale public health and environmental interventions.\n\nAbout the Position\nWe have a small team at Nexleaf, and we work together to define priorities and plan implementations. Any new addition to the team will play a critical role in helping achieve scale and impact. We do a lot of iteration on software features with our staff and customers before bringing them into production. This job will cover the whole cycle of implementing new features, revising existing features, thorough testing, and production deployment.\n\nThe major responsibilities of the position include:\n\n\n* Programming the frontend and backend (full stack) of our web service and analytics platform, using Python, Django, Python-RQ, MongoDB, HTML, JavaScript, CSS and other related languages and tools.\n\n* Work on new features and enhancements to the system.\n\n* Developing the API access to the data and reports available in our system.\n\n* Rework existing data models and storage strategies for efficiency and speed.\n\n* Evaluation and implementation of strategies to scale our services to support tens of thousands of sensors.\n\n* Grow to a position of architecting and owning major components in the system. \n\n\n\n\nNexleaf Analytics is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
