You’ll manage a team of approximately 5-8 direct reports and will report to the VP of Application Engineering. \n\n*Our frontend products are built with Javascript and React and Redux or AngularJS. Our backend APIs are built with Ruby and Rails or Grape (or Javascript and Node.js).\n\nWhat you’ll do\n\n\n* Help ensure your team delivers on the product roadmap\n\n* Manage the performance and career growth of your team members\n\n* Perform regular one-on-ones and provide timely and constructive feedback\n\n* Clear the road for your team by identifying and removing obstacles\n\n* Ensure Jellyvision’s engineering standards and best practices are followed\n\n* Collaborate with folks in our product and creative teams, as well as other engineering managers\n\n* Hire new engineering talent\n\n* Help your team look toward the future of the product\n\n\n\n\nExperience & skills you’ll need\n\n\n* A strong background in software development and web technologies \n\n* A strong track record of leading a productive development team \n\n* Experience with Agile methodologies \n\n\n\n\nOur ideal Engineering Manager:\n\n\n* Communicates clearly and effectively (with both technical and non-technical audiences)\n\n* Leads technical discussions\n\n* Helps resolve technical disagreements\n\n* Evaluates and presents engineering trade-offs\n\n* Creates an environment where people can do their best work, while having fun doing it\n\n* Motivates, develops, and promotes technical experts and future leaders\n\n\n\n\n Skills:\n\n\n* Develops talent\n\n* Drives engagement\n\n* Directs work\n\n* Builds effective teams\n\n* Balances stakeholders\n\n* Organizational savvy\n\n* Resourcefulness\n\n\n\n\nAnything else?\n\nOur credo is a simple one: be helpful.
