\nABOUT THE ROLE\n\nThe Itemize Backend Engineer will maintain and innovate on existing back-end modules and data stores, R&D on new methodologies with our core IP development team, and build up our serverless (lambda) Node.js APIs to support new functional requirements. Responsibilities will include:\n\n\n* Lead, design, and develop our core Javascript-based APIs powering our client-facing and internal applications\n\n* Design new microservices to support functional requirements and core IP advancements and configure pipeline infrastructure to support CI/CD methodologies\n\n* Write highly scalable and fault-tolerant software\n\n* Assist with operational support to monitor and triage production issues\n\n* Perform operational checks for the production environment \n\n* Work with Node.js, Express, MySQL, AWS Services including API Gateway, Lambda, Cloudwatch, Code Pipeline, and S3 and introduce other technologies as needed\n\n* Collaborate with a supportive and agile virtual team to deliver pragmatic software solutions \n\n\n\n\n\nREQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE\n\n\n* 3+ years Javascript software development experience in a professional work environment, with an emphasis on Node.js\n\n* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field \n\n* Experience developing and integrating with RESTful APIs\n\n* Experience with relational database structures and writing efficient SQL queries\n\n* Experience with shipping clear and quality code, unit testing, continuous integration, and test-driven development\n\n* Ability to nimbly switch between assigned tasks and addressing production issues\n\n* A practical and client-focused approach to development\n\n\n\n\n\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE\n\n\n* Experience with Amazon Web Services\n\n* Experience with Python\n\n* Experience working in a small and dynamic environment\n\n\n\n\n\nItemize is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
