About Imperfect\n\nImperfect Foods was founded in 2015 with a mission to reduce food waste and build a better food system for everyone. We offer imperfect (yet delicious) produce, affordable pantry items, and quality meat and dairy. We deliver them conveniently to our customers’ doorsteps and pride ourselves on offering up to a 30% discount compared to grocery store prices. Our customers can get the healthy, seasonal produce they want alongside the grocery staples they rely on, without having to compromise their budget or values. We’re proving that doing the right thing for the planet doesn’t have to cost more, and that shopping for quality ingredients can support the people and resources that it takes to grow our favorite foods.\n\nWe're headquartered in San Francisco with operations all over the country. Check our website to see if there is an Imperfect near you!\n\nWe're looking for folks who are positive, motivated, and ready to change the world. If that sounds like you, drop us a line!\n\nHere at Imperfect, we are all about groceries on a mission. Since 2015, our services have saved over 40M lbs of food, 1.2B gallons of water, and 110M lbs CO2, while donating 3M lbs of food along the way. Our software engineering team builds the eCommerce platform and internal tooling that makes this all possible. The team partners closely with product management to develop features, solutions, and systems that enhance and transform the user experience. Engineers don’t just build widgets -- we participate in the full lifecycle of a feature, from conception to release. We’re a remote-first team, with members located throughout the US. This role will report to the Head of Engineering and can be remotely located within US time zones.\n\nWe have exciting growth ahead of us as we evolve from only produce to a full-service grocery, as well as expand our footprint to serve an even greater portion of the country. We are swimming in interesting problems around customer-facing features, scale, and logistics. To help, we’re looking for talented backend software engineers with expertise in F#. Folks with various levels of professional software experience, from 2+ years to decades, are encouraged to apply.\n\nIf preventing food waste, owning the full product engineering lifecycle, and working daily with a bunch of pleasant people excites you, come join us!\n\n\n\n\nResponsibilities\n\n\n\n\n* Collaborate with other engineers and designers to provide strong customer-focused experiences\n\n* Prototype quickly to test out new ideas and experiments\n\n* Practice disciplined software engineering (e.g. automated testing, code reviews, and writing maintainable code)\n\n* Actively contribute to team and company standards\n\n* Ensure the reliability of systems essential to Imperfect customers and internal users\n\n* Keep up-to-date with the latest technology developments in your area(s) of expertise\n\n* For more senior applicants, mentor junior team members\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSkills and Qualifications\n\n\n\n\n* Strong F# development skills\n\n* 2+ years of professionally building production-grade, large-scale web software\n\n* Understanding of database schema design, caching and scalability. \n\n* Expertise with relational databases, such as PostgreSQL\n\n* Experience working with AWS infrastructure and services\n\n* Experience with distributed, service-oriented systems communicating with RESTful API interfaces. \n\n* Bonus: experience with event sourcing, CQRS and asynchronous communication using queues\n\n* Bonus: interest and skill in working with server-side NodeJS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout you\n\n\n\n\n* A sincere commitment to crafting maintainable, dependable code\n\n* A pragmatic, customer-centric approach to problem-solving\n\n* Passionate about our mission to eliminate food waste and create a better food system for all\n\n* Bonus: experience with or interest in leadership\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails of Position\n\n\n\n\n* Full-time exempt position reporting to the Head of Engineering\n\n* Candidate can be remotely located within US time zones\n\n* Salary and employee stock options commensurate with experience\n\n* Competitive benefits package including health care, paid vacation, 401K, paid parental leave, and recurring credit towards your Imperfect account!\n\n\n\n\n \n\n#Location\n- πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈUS-only
