*Build the core of Stripe products, services and APIs in spectacularly robust fashion.*\n\nPayouts is crucial in helping Stripe to globalize and help build the banking platform which allows users as well as internal Stripe teams to move money.\nAs a platform company powering businesses all over the world, Stripe processes payments, runs marketplaces, detects fraud, helps entrepreneurs start an internet business from anywhere in the world, builds world-class developer-friendly APIs, and more. Stripeโs backend engineers work on the business logic for all of that. As a backend engineer on the Payouts team, you will build and expand APIs and services and work with our partners to launch new markets and capabilities.\n\nThe Payouts team works to ensure money gets to its destinations safely, reliably and in a cost effective manner. As Stripe expands globally, we realize that we havenโt won yet, and know that successfully being able to take pay out to different countries is crucial to our progress in economic globalization. Weโre investing in the Payouts team to run the infrastructure that supports a wide variety of bank payouts and payment methods. Youโll help abstract the rails for money and movement while rigorously understanding properties such as speed, cutoff, currency and fees.\n\nWeโre looking for people with strong background or interest in building successful products or systems; youโre comfortable in dealing with lots of moving pieces; you have exquisite attention to detail; and youโre comfortable learning new technologies and systems.\n\n# Responsibilities\n
**You will:**\n* Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems across Stripeโs engineering teams\n* Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack\n* Work with engineers across the company to build new features at large-scale\n* Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes \n\n# Requirements\n**You may be fit for this role if you:**\n* Enjoy and have experience building backend infrastructure\n* Think about systems and services and write high quality code. We work mostly in Ruby, with some Scala and Go. However, languages can be learned: we care much more about your general engineering skill than knowledge of a particular language or framework.\n* Hold yourself and others to a high bar when working with production systems\n* Take pride in working on projects to successful completion involving a wide variety of technologies and systems.\n* Thrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts\n* Enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different expertise (for example, ยผ of Stripes work in a country thatโs different from the one they grew up in). Almost every role at Stripe collaborates with some engineers, from Sales and Support in sharing feedback from our customers; to Legal and Accounting in supporting our systems for tracking money movement and reporting around the world.\n* Itโs not expected that any single candidate would have expertise across all of these areas. For instance, we have wonderful team members who are really focused on their customersโ needs and building amazing user experiences, but didnโt work on APIs before joining Stripe.\n\n**You might work on:**\n* Building a new API for our users, or iterate on existing APIs\n* Launching a new market or payment method\n* Building new tools for our business teams\n \n\nPlease mention the words **ELEGANT SOLVE BOUNCE** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMy4yMzkuNTkuMTkz).
