I am reaching out as we are looking to fill a critical role in IT that will help determine the strategy and directly impact the growth and continued success we've been able to maintain for over 50 years. The software architect guides the technical design and direction of enterprise-level software solutions.\n\n\nEssential job functions\n\n\n• Works with Software Engineers, Database Analysts and Systems Architects to design and create, dependable, scalable, and maintainable systems \n• Develops standards and technical documentation for existing theoretical design of software systems \n• Takes lead role on designing and approving designs of new software or software integrations with 3rd party packages\n• Begins to participates in the discussion surrounding the long-term technical direction of the department \n• Works with software engineers and management to help shape coding standards and software development life cycle best practices. \n• Takes leadership role in guiding projects through the complete software development life cycle \n• Responsible (takes ownership) for multiple software applications\n• Manage tasks and resources while utilizing modern project management principles\n• Leads the development of multiple projects at one time\n• Recommend software improvements and changes to systems, as needed \n• Perform software and data analysis to uncover issues and solve complicated problems that typically span multiple systems \n• Conduct software demo’s to educate and train others in the use of software\n\n\n\nSkills and Qualifications\n• 10+ years of software development experience in an area applicable to O’Reilly\n• Complete understanding of the department and or system(s) they are responsible for, as well as the overall business process of O’Reilly Auto Parts\n• Understands how to establish the value and cost of an IT project \n• Advanced understanding of change management and the O’Reilly change control process and procedures\n• Advanced knowledge of Project Development Life Cycle (PDLC) and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)\n• Ability to lead and get results from others\n• Ability to articulate advanced technical concepts and teach others\n• Ability to effectively multitask \n• Expert software debugging and testing knowledge\n• Expert knowledge of complex computer systems (multiple programs, databases, communications etc) \n• Expert knowledge of programming, database systems, and systems analysis and design\n\nWhat we work with: Some of the tools we use to implement our projects are Java, JavaScript & CSS, PostgreSQL, Eclipse, SOLR, IntelliJ, SublimeText, Axure, & Balsamiq for development. We also utilize Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, Fisheye, & Crucible for developer productivity.
