\nSenior DevOps + Infrastructure Architect\n\nXyleme, Inc. is seeking a senior systems administrator/ architect experienced in server, security, network, web, and database administration. This position will provide operational support for Xyleme’s IT cloud infrastructure including planning, provisioning, configuring, securing, documenting, and maintaining hardware, operating systems, and services.\n\nWorking within the Infrastructure team, you’ll be expected to wear many hats - from first responder to performance analysis, system architect, capacity planning, and systems support. We follow a DevOps model, where our teams are fully integrated with the development teams. IT staff are encouraged and expected to provide input wherever possible in the product’s development, deployment, design, and operations.\n\nThis is a senior position, reporting directly to the Director of IT. Relocation is not required and work from a private / home office is expected.\n\nXyleme, Inc. is a leading provider of learning content management solutions and mobile learning applications. The Xyleme Learning Content Management System (LCMS) is a fully integrated software environment that provides for the authoring, managing and publishing of XML-based online courseware, instructor-led materials, performance support and mobile learning products. Xyleme enables content delivery to a wide-range of learning environments, including web-based eLearning, instructor-led training, social platforms and mobile learning.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for the following:\n\n\n* Administration of Linux and Windows systems, including configuration, troubleshooting and automation.\n\n* Running and maintaining Xyleme production infrastructure hosted on AWS - planning, deploying, configuring, securing, documenting, and maintaining services\n\n* AWS experience with: CloudFormation, IAM, OpsWorks, ElastiCache, Lambda, CloudWatch\n\n* Analysis of complex system behavior, performance and application issues\n\n* Development of monitoring solutions and analysis across multiple datacenters\n\n* Quickly resolving problems reported by users or monitoring systems\n\n* AWS: capacity analysis and planning, traffic routing and security policies\n\n* Developing, maintaining and administration of cutting-edge infrastructure deployment tools\n\n* Training users on the proper use of hardware and software when necessary\n\n* Handling system down problems (24/7 on-call with a rotation schedule)\n\n* Other duties as assigned\n\n\n\n\nRequirements\n\nThe following skills are required for this senior level position. Resumes not meeting most of these requirements may not be considered:\n\n\n* Five or more years of recent Linux/UNIX systems administration\n\n* Three or more years Amazon Web Services (AWS) administration\n\n* Solid scripting / automation skills (Python/Ruby/Bash/Go/etc.)\n\n* Solid experience with server configuration via AWS OpsWorks, Ansible and Chef\n\n* Experience using software deployment in a team environment (merge requests, branching, push and pulls): Bamboo, BitCucket and Git\n\n* IP networking, including familiarity with the functionality, operating, and failure modes of networks.\n\n* Database administration experience – relational/NoSQL (MySQL, MongoDB, Apache Solr, etc.)\n\n* Experience with high availability architectures, and a critical production service environment\n\n* Proven technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience.\n\n* Current certification in Linux Administration (LPIC-2 equivalent or higher)\n\n* Solid understanding of IT/data security\n\n\n\n\n\n* Excellent analytical skills to troubleshoot any kind of computer problem\n\n* Well organized, reliable, with strong attention to detail\n\n* Unimpeachable integrity\n\n* Ability to communicate positively and professionally\n\n* Ability to quickly master new technologies\n\n* Proactive attitude to solve issues before they become a problem\n\n* Ability to work independently with limited supervision\n\n* Ability to work as a remote employee in a virtual workplace\n\n* Schedule flexibility to provide support when needed\n\n* Strong written and verbal communication skills in English\n\n* Energetic, positive, with the ability to bring a “can do” attitude to challenges\n\n* Ability to work well with peers and managers\n\n\n\n\nCandidates that Will Not Be Considered\n\nResumes presented that do not meet the above referenced qualifications will not be considered.\n\nSpecifically:\n\n\n* Candidates with short tenures (one year or less) at a majority of their recent positions\n\n* Candidates without very strong written and spoken English skills\n\n\n\n\nPre-Interview Material\n\nCandidates may be asked to provide work samples as well as provide evidence of skills prior to a formal interview. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
