\nSITE RELIABILITY ENGINEER - APPLICATIONS\n\nWe are looking for a talented Applications Site Reliability Engineer (ASRE) to work alongside our applications developers to help them design, deploy and operate the next generation of Fastly’s production service platform. Each ASRE is embedded in a particular application team for a period of 6-12 months, where they consult with and assist that team on scalability, reliability, deployment, observability, operational documentation, and production readiness. This embedding model allows the ASRE to get real depth in a particular Fastly application and build ongoing relationships with that application engineering team, while also gaining technical breadth of experience via team rotation.\n\nAt Fastly, ASRE is critical for the company. This is a place where as an ASRE you can be part of the main-line of the product, not a sideline.\n\nRESPONSIBILITIES\n\n\n* Develop infrastructure to enable reliable and rapid deployment, effective monitoring, and resilient operation in a large-scale Linux environment.\n\n* Diagnose and resolve performance and reliability issues across the entire stack: application, operating system, network, kernel, firmware, hardware, including cross-application dependencies.\n\n* Write tools to automate maintenance and deployment of machines, services, applications.\n\n* Work closely with your development teams to ensure that services are designed with scale, operability, performance, and ease-of-use in mind.\n\n* Build and maintain a robust Continuous Integration environment.\n\n\n\n\nREQUIREMENTS\n\n\n* 4+ years experience running high availability systems and supporting infrastructure.\n\n* Strong understanding of Linux systems, high and low level.\n\n* Useful knowledge of shell scripting and one or more scripting language (e.g. Python, Ruby, Perl).\n\n* Experience with compiled languages (Go, C/C++, Java).\n\n* Good understanding of configuration management best practices and standards.\n\n* Experienced with cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform.\n\n* Adaptable to a wide variety of technologies and people.\n\n\n\n\nRemote applicants will be considered for this role.\n\n\n\nFastly provides equal employment opportunity without regard to an applicant’s race, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetic information, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, medical condition, religion, marital status or veteran status.\n\nApplicants with disabilities may be entitled to reasonable accommodation under the terms of the Americans with Disabilities Act and certain state or local laws. A reasonable accommodation is a change in the way things are normally done which will ensure an equal employment opportunity without imposing undue hardship on Fastly. Please inform us if you need assistance completing any forms or to otherwise participate in the application process. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
