SmileDirectClub is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to help design and scale our data pipelines to help our engineers, operations team, marketing managers, and analysts make better decisions with data. By leveraging proprietary cutting-edge technology, weโre helping customers avoid office visits and cutting their costs by up to 70 percent because people shouldnโt have to pay a small fortune for a better smile.\n\nYou will:\n\nDesign and build new dimensional data models and schema designs to improve accessibility, efficiency, and quality of internal analytics data\nBuild, monitor, and maintain analytics data ETL pipelines\nImplement systems for tracking data quality and consistency\nWork closely with Analytics, Marketing, Finance, and Operations teams to understand data and analysis requirements\nWork with teams to continue to evolve data models and data flows to enable analytics for decision making (e.g., improve instrumentation, optimize logging, etc.)\nWeโre looking for someone who:\n\nHas a curiosity about how things work\nIs willing to role-up their sleeves to leverage Big Data and discover new key performance indicators\nHas built enterprise data pipelines and can craft clean and beautiful code in SQL, Python, and/or R\nHas built batch data pipelines with Hadoop or Spark as well as with relational database engines, and understands their respective strengths and weaknesses\nHas experience with ETL jobs, metrics, alerting, and/or logging\nHas expert knowledge of query optimization in MPP data warehouses (Redshift, Snowflake, Cloudera, HortonWorks, MapR, or similar)\nExperience in the latest/cutting edge design and development of big data solutions\nProficiency in the latest trends in big data analytics and architecture\nCan jump into situations with few guardrails and make things better\nPossesses strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval\nIs a strong communicator.
