Intro
Hi this is Peldi, Founder and CEO of Balsamiq. Please make sure you read the
Working at Balsamiq page first, as Balsamiq is not for everyone. We believe what we offer in terms of challenging work, benefits and work/life balance is pretty unique in the industry.
At Balsamiq, our goal is to '
help rid the world of bad software.' Part of that effort consists in
sponsoring anyone with a similar goal. We sponsor events, blogs, websites, online communities, podcasts, you name it. If they're helping people make better software, we want them to be successful. See
our sponsorships page.
We sponsored 113 events in 23 countries
last year. We plan on sponsoring around 150 this year, and even more next year.
A lot of the events we sponsor allow us to gift a ticket to someone in our community. We raffled off 31 last year, and plan on doing more this year. See our raffles page.
When we don't sponsor with money, we often give people custom promo codes to give to their audience. People took advantage of these 347 times last year.
If a conference is especially important for our audience, we like to sponsor at a level that gives us a booth, so that we can go there in person. These booths require a whole other level of coordination to happen successfully: we create graphics for the booth, rollups, custom business cards, etc.
A lot of the conferences allow us to advertise on the event program booklet, or add a flyer or some of our SWAG to the attendee's goody-bag.
Speaking of SWAG. We have two
online Balsamiq SWAG stores (one in the US and one in Europe) with T-Shirts, mugs, and more. We give out lots of coupons for those to special customers.
We also make branded business cards, sharpies, pins, and post-its regularly.
We also make custom shirts and other SWAG for our staff (25 people, and growing) once or twice a year, to commemorate a specific product launch, or for the yearly company retreat.
We have optimized all these processes a lot, but sponsoring things is an intrinsically time-consuming process. Right now they are scattered between several people.
We are looking for a marketing admin who can take care of this whole area of the company, and help us make it grow.
