\nMapzen serves up bespoke map tiles for the masses via our open-source Tilezen project.\n\nWe're is looking for an experienced tiles engineer to join our data team to make important improvements our open-source vector tiles service. You will work with large-scale spatial datasets and build public-facing APIs. Your mission will be to improve access to open-data.\n\nDuring a typical week you might learn about a new OpenStreetMap tag, work with the Who’s On First gazetteer, transform data in Python, configure a GDAL VRT, optimize a Postgres query, improve our test suite, write documentation, demonstrate new capabilities of our tiles services by writing Tangram scene snippets, and brainstorm with other data team members on new ways to publish open geographic information on the web.\n\nResponsibilities\n\n\n* Design and develop interfaces for the Mapzen tiles service\n\n* Develop services that process and re-package open-data for global consumption\n\n* Collaborate with engineering and design teams working on new features, services, and demos\n\n* Improve service performance & reliability, and respond to service alerts\n\n\n
