We get to build, operate, and improve rapidly-changing, resilient systems at scale. Success in this endeavor requires teamwork, ambition, dedication to improvement, and, of course, a mix of systems engineering and software engineering skills. \n\n\nThis position provides the opportunity to work on a modern, large-scale, high performance platform. We serve more than a million origin requests per minute, our median response time is under ten milliseconds, and our availability for the last twelve months exceeds 99.99%. We build and deploy services using modern tools such as ansible, packer, and consul. \n\n\nIf you join the Monetate DevOps team, you will: \n* improve the availability, scalability, and efficiency of the Monetate platform.\n* craft tools that improve visibility into the inner workings of Monetateโs systems, such as the development of improved monitoring and log management tools.\n* influence the design and architecture of Monetateโs large-scale distributed systems.\n* respond to incidents and requests for assistance as part of an on-call rotation.\n* help prevent incident recurrence by developing solutions to correct or mitigate issues at their root. \n\n\nThe minimum requirements are: \n* Proficiency with one or more programming languages.\n* Experience writing shell scripts.\n* A solid understanding of web application architecture, including DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, and load balancing.\n* A strong understanding of Linux server administration, including creating new servers, knowledge of basic Linux commands, identifying and diagnosing common issues.\n* A systematic problem solving approach. \n\n\nPreferred qualifications include: \n* Strong computer science expertise.\n* Experience designing, operating, troubleshooting, and improving distributed systems. \n* Experience using, troubleshooting, and improving mission critical databases. \n* Experience creating, managing, and improving monitoring and alerting systems. \n\n\nMonetate has offices in Conshohocken PA, Palo Alto CA, and London UK, but you can also choose to work remotely from anywhere within the United States or Canada. \n\n\nUS based applicants must already be authorized to work in the US. \n\n\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity at our company.
