The Blackboard Transact platform includes capabilities within two integrated modules: \n\n\n* Commerce Management: facilitates campus ID card issuance, cashless payment processing, account management and reporting on-campus, off-campus, and online.\n\n* Security Management: monitors all campus activity using integrated door access control, video surveillance and mass notification capabilities. \n\n\n\n\nPosition Responsibilities\n \nBlackboard Transact, the global leader in higher education learning software and campus card systems, is searching for a Senior Cloud Application Developer. Based in Phoenix, Blackboard campus card systems are installed in America’s largest and most prestigious colleges and universities. As a Senior Cloud Application Developer, you’ll be responsible for developing enterprise software that is hosted in multiple cloud environments providing online transaction processing in a Software as a Service (SaaS) environment and play an integral role in the success of the product delivery and quality. Specifically, you are responsible for:\n\n\n* Work with the Senior Director of Application Architecture to understand and implement functionality for new solutions\n\n* Analyze problems and implement solutions that trade off architectural constraints of functionality, usability, performance, reliability, cost, and scalability\n\n* Write and modify REST APIs using application development frameworks in a high volume transaction processing, n-tier distributed environment hosted in multiple cloud environments\n\n* Design and implement new databases and use other forms of storage to persist application data\n\n* Leverage queuing, publish/subscribe, and relay patterns to implement loosely-coupled message-based systems\n\n* Design and implement modern web-based user interfaces using best practices to support new functionality\n\n* Deliver application enhancements as part of a continuous delivery methodology\n\n* Program and execute unit test cases using test driven development practices\n\n* Support the life cycle of the application during quality assurance, user acceptance testing, and post release\n\n* Develop technical documentation to facilitate hand-off of the product to an operations team\n\n* Comply with and contribute to consistent development guidelines (coding, change control, build, versioning)\n\n* Participate in peer code reviews\n\n\n\n\n\nThis job description is not designed to contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required.
