\nAre you an enthusiastic and scarily capable Linux sysadmin? We want you aboard the Anchor team! We’re looking for people in our Sydney office and to join Full Time in remote teams working UTC+00:00 (London) and UTC-06:00 (Texas) Time Zones. Anchor is renowned for making some of the best custom web hosting solutions. We build to a spec, not to a budget.\n\nYour job will be to lovingly configure and maintain servers for customers. Make no mistake, this isn’t a cPanel or Plesk shop; you’ll be getting your hands dirty solving interesting problems, and automating ALL the things. We do things the right way, not the cheap way.\n\nYou’ll be working in a casual and fun environment with a team of equally sharp-minded geeks. Like them, you know how to Get Things Done. Above all, you’re a passionate and pragmatic problem-solver. You’ll do the right thing by our customers, and give them the solutions they need.\n\nAnchor is a supportive work environment that encourages learning. We’ll even send you off to attend cool technical conferences, all expenses paid. You can expect to learn a lot here, and at the same time you’ll give back to others.\n\nYour day to day responsibilities will include:\n\n\n* Maintaining customer systems, dealing with submitted tickets and responding to customer enquiries efficiently\n\n* Proactively handling problems before our customers even know about them\n\n* Identifying deficiencies in our infrastructure and fixing them\n\n* Mentoring your colleagues to help them expand their skills\n\n* Automating yourself out of the job\n\n* Improving existing systems and processes to better support our customers and your colleagues\n\n\n\n\nTo perform well in this role, you will have:\n\n\n* Good time management and task prioritisation skills\n\n* A methodical and principled approach to troubleshooting and problem diagnosis\n\n* The ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues\n\n* A strong self-motivation to learn new skills and technologies\n\n* Strong proficiency with at least one programming language\n\n* A solid understanding of security best-practices and theory\n\n* A strong desire to see constant improvement in yourself and the tools and processes you use\n\n* 2+ years of operational experience managing GNU/Linux server systems\n\n\n\n\nWe use these on a daily basis. The more you know, the better; the rest you’ll learn:\n\n\n* GNU/Linux: Debian, CentOS, RHEL\n\n* Web servers: nginx, Apache\n\n* DBMS: PostgreSQL, MySQL\n\n* Virtualisation: KVM\n\n* Configuration Management: Puppet, Ansible, Terraform\n\n* High Availability: Pacemaker, Corosync, DRBD\n\n* Networking: IPVS/ldirectord, netfilter, haproxy\n\n* Platforms: Amazon Web Services\n\n\n\n\nInterested yet?\n\nIf this sounds like you, get in touch. Drop us a mail to [email protected] with your resume attached (PDF preferred), and a brief covering letter to introduce yourself. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
