\nAs a Junior Front-End Web Engineer, you'll join our growing Product team in shipping software that delivers an excellent experience to our 27+ million monthly readers on Apartment Therapy and The Kitchn.\n\nThis role requires a strong grasp of the fundamentals of the client-side web (JavaScript, CSS, and HTML). You should have some experience building non-trivial JavaScript clients using recent frameworks (e.g., React/Flux, Angular, Backbone) while also understanding the basics behind these abstractions (e.g. DOM events, variable scoping, AJAX lifecycles). Our ideal candidate has at least a year of experience shipping production code and is eager to continue growing with the support and mentorship of our Senior engineers.\n\nWe deliver most new front-end work with React and the Flux architecture. We'll soon be exploring GraphQL and Relay to keep client and server state in-sync. Experience in these libraries is a plus, but not required. You may read more about our technical stack here.\n\nOur team (and much of the company) works remotely. We all wear many hats and maintain a collaborative and supportive environment. You may work remotely or in our New York City office, however you must be able to work effectively with a remote team and coworkers. Excellent communication skills and self-direction are critical for success.\n\nAdditional 'nice to haves':\n\n\n* Experience working with a distributed team\n\n* Familiarity with Ruby/Rails\n\n* Experience in small team (startup/lean/agile) environments\n\n* Interest in home design, cooking and other lifestyle areas our publications cover\n\n\n\n\nIn addition to your cover letter, résumé and links to relevant additional work to consider (including portfolios, blog, twitter account, GitHub profile, etc), please include:\n\n\n* your code editor of choice\n\n* a technology/skill or language that is on your list to learn more about\n\n* a link to a post from one of our sites you find compelling, stating briefly why\n\n\n\n\nExtra Credit: 'Fraq hf gur pbqr lbh hfrq gb qrpbqr guvf zrffntr'\n\nCandidates must be located and legally able to work in the US.
