To keep that momentum going strong, we’re expanding our team of enthusiastic go-getters. We’re on the hunt for a Head of Engineering to manage and scale our technology team.\n\nYou will:\n\n\n* Develop Technology Leadership & Strategy (what technology should we use and why)\n\n* Understand and contribute to the development of Product Strategy\n\n* Recruit, manage and mentor/coach our technology team\n\n* Develop our Technology Culture: ie, standards and processes, and ensure their adherence\n\n* Develop goals for the team and work to ensure they achieve them\n\n* Manage workload for the dev team & ensure they hit their quality and deadline goals\n\n\n\n\nRequirements\n\n\n* You're willing and able to roll up your sleeves and code on day one.\n\n* You have a degree in Computer Science or relevant work experience.\n\n* You have over 6-8 years of direct hands on development experience, ideally full stack.\n\n* You have over 3 years of building and/or leading high performing engineering teams.\n\n* You have 5+ years of experience working in Agile environments.\n\n* You have experience coaching junior to mid-level engineers in their careers and experience.\n\n* You're not afraid to ask questions and are open to constructive criticism. You're an enthusiastic self-starter who takes ownership of your work.\n\n* You have experience with Javascript frameworks like Angular, React or Vue.js\n\n* You have experience working with API’s\n\n* Must be able to travel to Chicago for quarterly team meetings\n\n\n\n\nNice to haves:\n\n\n* Evaluation, configuration, and deployment of enterprise-grade, open-source software\n\n* Accountability for applications over their full life cycle\n\n* Experience with AWS (EC2, S3, SQS, etc)\n\n* Ideally you are language agnostic, but might have experience with PHP, Ruby on Rails, Python.\n\n\n\n\nBenefits\n\n\n* 'Work from wherever' policy\n\n* Unlimited Vacation\n\n* Blue Cross Blue Shield health, dental, vision, short-term / long-term disability and life insurance.\n\n* Flexible Savings Accounts and Health Savings Accounts\n\n* 401k with Employer match\n\n* Profit sharing program\n\n* Employee referral program\n\n* Frequent team events\n\n\n\n\nBlack Spectacles is an equal opportunity employer.
