We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who is eager to lead Lull's data engineering initiatives. Lull's data engineering team powers the analytics, reporting, and predictive modeling engine that provides insights for the entire company. We have ambitious plans to use our advanced models and analytics for new products and new ventures. We need you to lead the data engineering initiatives that are the foundation for these plans. You must have an interest in the business applications of your work, as you will be partnering closely with internal business units to execute high impact data projects. Your curiosity and breadth of technological expertise allow you to understand how the pieces of our architecture fit together. You thrive when given responsibility and autonomy, and you can execute a data engineering project from conception to production.\n\nAvailable Locations: Remote - While our headquarters are in Santa Barbara, California, you can telecommute from anywhere in the U.S.\nResponsibilities:\n* Owning all Analytics Data Infrastructure\n* Monitoring daily ELT processes\n* Continuously evolving Lull's data engineering architecture\n* Building and Maintaining:\n* API data extraction integrations with ad platforms\n* ELT for reporting, analytics, and machine learning\n\n\n* Growing and training our data engineering team\n* Creating lean development processes and standards\n* Training analysts on our analytics database for the purpose of self-serve SQL\n* Liaising with backend software engineers\n\n\n* 70% of time spent building, coding and executing\n* 30% of time spent managing and training\n\n\nNote: You will not be training or designing machine learning models.\nTechnologies you will use:\n* AWS: Redshift, S3, DMS, Spectrum, EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, Cloudwatch, more\n* DBT (data build tool - fishtown analytics)\n* Kubernetes\n* Python (Pandas, Jinja)\n* Heap Analytics (extraction)\n* Ad Tech APIs: Facebook, Pinterest, Snapchat, etc\n* Git/GitHub\n* Apache Spark\n* Jira\n\n\nMinimum Requirements: \n* 2-5 years' experience in data engineering & ELT\n* Expert in using cloud technologies to build data pipelines\n* Strong interest in the business applications of your work\n* Thrives when given autonomy and independence\n* Management, mentorship, or leadership experience\n* Methodical troubleshooter and QA\n* Organizational and project management skills \n* PostgreSQL (Redshift) or equivalent\n* Power user of AWS or equivalent\n* Experience with data extraction from APIs\n* Python\n* CLI\n* Git/GitHub\n\n\nA Strong Candidate has experience in/with:\n* Direct to Consumer/E-commerce industry\n* Hiring and growing a team\n* Multi-touch marketing attribution\n* Event stream architecture: Snowplow, Kinesis\n* Website Analytics\n* Machine learning infrastructure\n\n\nReasons to Love Lull:\n* Healthy work life balance - Our people are highly engaged and passionate about their work.
