\nAt CoFi, we’re on a mission to vastly improve the patient payment experience for elective medical procedures.\n\nFounded by a results-driven team of domain experts, and with KOLs in the elective medical procedure space as early stage investors, CoFi is solving well-articulated and high-impact, yet unaddressed, problems for premium medical practices.\n\nWe are seeking to add a Head of Engineering to take our product from Beta to a market-ready product, launch, and well beyond.\n\nReporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will be responsible for all development, the establishment of processes, and building out a high-functioning engineering team over time. \n\nCoFi is a Seed-stage company and in this early stage, this is very much a hand-on, coding and leading role – a one-person department evolving to player-coach and management responsibilities as we grow and expand the team.\n\nWe are sitting at the exciting intersection of pay tech and health tech. We have a big vision, are in a large market, and are first to market. This is an opportunity for an experienced engineering leader to take the reins and play an instrumental role in the company’s trajectory.\n\n The ideal candidate:\n\n\n* Enjoys being a generalist working on both the front-end, backend, and doing anything it takes to solve problems and deliver what users need.\n\n* Thrives in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts, to be able to build the best tools possible for them.\n\n* Takes pride in working on projects to successful completion involving a wide variety of technologies and systems, even if you have not worked with them before.\n\n\n\n\n Responsibilities\n\nSoftware Development: You will be responsible for CoFi’s codebase, core infrastructure, integrations with partner APIs, tool set, security, and deployment.\n\nManagement: You will be responsible for recruiting, mentoring and managing an in-house engineering team over time, as well as managing the relationships and outcomes of our current outsourced technical resources.\n\nCross-Department Collaboration: You will co-develop a product and technical roadmap with our CEO and build software that is useful, scalable, and stable.\n\nRequirements\n\nExperience: 6 or more years of experience, including full stack development, with experience in an engineering leadership role. You’ve worked on complex applications with marketplace-like multiple account and user objects, and integrations with external APIs.\n\nEducation: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar preferred.\n\nTechnical Skills: Experience directing DevOps and working in an Agile model, working with external APIs. Familiarity with our tools (Rails, Docker, Terraform, AWS, Postgres, SideKiq) and expertise in Rails and AWS required.\n\nCommunication Skills: You are able to translate complex technical concepts into everyday and business constructs. You proactively communicate plans, delays, concerns, and successes to the team.\n\nBonus/Not Required: If we’re checking all the boxes, however improbable, you have either (or both!) payments/paytech experience and healthtech experience. Again, not a requirement.\n\nRequired: An orientation toward work and task execution. Missing the ‘complainer’ gene in your DNA. An athlete’s orientation toward teams and winning together. And a friendly disposition.\n\nBenefits\n\n\n* Competitive salary\n\n* Early-stage stock options\n\n* Flexible time off policy\n\n* Remote position. CoFi is HQ'd in Boston and the founding team is in multiple cities. We are all remote these days and are comfortable working across the 3 US time zone.\n\n\n\n\nCoFi is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
