We're looking for smart, creative, resourceful developers who want to work with impressive clients and who take pride in their work.{linebreak}{linebreak}We recognize several levels of seniority and experience for developers, and tie compensation and responsibility to this. We are looking for all levels of developers for this position. {linebreak}{linebreak}# Requirements{linebreak}* Our projects span an array of contemporary web technologies, principally  **PHP**  and  **ES6 JavaScript**  (including both frontend and backend applications). You must be open to working this way as well, and prior experience is a plus.{linebreak}* You should also have very strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to wield them with both team members and clients. {linebreak}* Discipline concerning delivery dates, stylistic appreciation of what makes code good and readable, and a positive attitude about documentation, tickets, and issue tracking, are all very important "soft skills" for our developers to have.

Additionally, this position may be responsible for developing and maintaining custom WordPress plugins.{linebreak}Our ideal candidate is a hard-working, curious troubleshooter comfortable working independently with little supervision, but who also enjoys working as part of a team that includes developers and non-developers. Since we're a distributed shop, you’ll get to work from home! Cool, right?{linebreak}Specifically, the things we’re looking for include:{linebreak}{linebreak} * Experience with receiving potentially vague end-user bug reports, recreating the issues, and diving into the codebase to quickly identify root causes{linebreak} * Significant experience with WordPress theming: template hierarchy, hooks, WP_Query, etc.{linebreak} * Strong knowledge of HTML5 markup and CSS3{linebreak} * Ability to write CSS/SASS for cross-browser, responsive design (not just by using Bootstrap){linebreak} * Decent JavaScript skills (particularly in jQuery and/or the Node.js ecosystem){linebreak} * Experience managing codebases and deploying websites onto third-party hosts via git, and/or sFTP, making DNS record changes, etc{linebreak} * Past experience with quickly and effectively maintaining/troubleshooting/supporting code written by other developers{linebreak} * Familiarity with command line tools like git, gulp and wp-cli{linebreak} * Ability to laugh at our stupid jokes (and the occasional good one){linebreak} * Familiarity with current (and evolving) best practices in front-end dev regarding semantics, performance, cross-browser consistency, etc.{linebreak} * Ability to not lose your s#!% when you occasionally get feedback like “can we make the logo bigger?” or “change the padding by 1px” (and then getting asked to change it back), which may happen despite our best efforts {linebreak} * Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment (we keep pretty busy!) and manage a workload of several projects at a time{linebreak} * Superb written and oral communication skills{linebreak}{linebreak}{linebreak}{linebreak}{linebreak}Other stuff we’d love it if you’re good at, but aren’t requirements:{linebreak}{linebreak} * Working with and customizing BuddyPress{linebreak} * Troubleshooting mySQL performance issues (and writing performant queries){linebreak} * Familiarity with Apache/nginx configuration, tuning and troubleshooting{linebreak} * Ability to understand and work with common third-party REST APIs{linebreak} * Develop ingenious scripts to facilitate complicated cross-platform content migrations{linebreak} * Using Photoshop and understanding challenges in designing for the web{linebreak} * Working with nonprofit CRM tools such as Salsa, Luminate Online, Engaging Networks, Blue State Digital, and Classy{linebreak} * Remembering to un-mute yourself before talking on conference calls{linebreak} * Being passionate about progressive causes{linebreak} * Writing basic bash scripts and performing other devops/Linux sysadmin kinds of stuff{linebreak}{linebreak}{linebreak}{linebreak}Cornershop Creative is an award-winning online services agency committed to listening carefully to our non-profit and small business clients and helping them achieve their goals. Our designs are beautiful, and our websites are creative and innovative. Learn more about us at https://cornershopcreative.com/.{linebreak}To apply, send an email to [email protected] with the following:{linebreak}{linebreak} * Your résumé, which should include an indication of which American state you live and work in{linebreak} * A brief cover letter, explaining why you’re excited about this opportunity{linebreak} * Links to work you’ve done that we should see, such as recent websites, git repos, or contributed plugins/modules/themes{linebreak} * Ideal salary range{linebreak}{linebreak}{linebreak}{linebreak} {linebreak}U.S. Applicants only!{linebreak}Please be sure to include all of these items — to save everyone valuable time we’ll throw out incomplete applications. Thanks for understanding.{linebreak}Cornershop is an equal opportunity employer.

HTML to WordPress (http://htmltowordpress.io) is a powerful, yet simple webapp that converts any HTML website to a WordPress theme - revolutionising the way WordPress websites are being created. {linebreak}{linebreak}Why are we doing this (aka “the problem”)?{linebreak}Maintaining and extending static HTML sites is cumbersome for non-technical people{linebreak}Converting a static HTML design into a working WordPress theme takes too much time{linebreak}It’s too expensive to pay a developer in-house or outsource the conversion development{linebreak}No easy or effective way exists to automate this process{linebreak}{linebreak}HTML to WordPress offers a premium quality solution to these problems for a fraction of the usual costs involved.{linebreak}{linebreak}There are 50,000 WordPress websites being created each day and we’re on a mission to capture that market. This is where you come in: we’re looking for a full-stack web developer with a focus and interest on backend technologies to take our cloud-based conversion process to the next level.{linebreak}{linebreak}Because of our early stage you’ll get to make influential decisions and have impact over how to approach any given problem. As such you’ll be a very important team member of an early stage startup and make a difference to the culture as well as the product greatly.{linebreak}{linebreak}Skill requirements:{linebreak}Focused on backend technologies with deep knowledge of PHP and WordPress theme/plugin development{linebreak}In-depth knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript{linebreak}Passion for automating repetitive tasks, solving dynamic challenges and building highly scalable systems{linebreak}{linebreak}Mentality requirements:{linebreak}Startup experience preferred{linebreak}A scrappy, ‘lets get shit done’ attitude that completes quality projects quickly{linebreak}Passion for great user experiences, with a LEAN and analytics driven attitude{linebreak}Confidence learning new things and programming languages, we love generalists{linebreak}Driven, focused self-starters who take ownership of their work{linebreak}Detail focused with a structured approach to delivering code{linebreak}You want to conquer the fucking world and aren't afraid to go after it with us!{linebreak}{linebreak}Bonus points if you have:{linebreak}Experience with Composer, npm, Bower, Gulp, Git and LAMP{linebreak}Insightful opinions about systems architecture{linebreak}Ability to find and debug a variety of problems during emergency situations{linebreak}{linebreak}You will be compensated with an equity/salary package that is negotiated with the chosen candidate. Four year vesting period with a one year cliff. We’re currently self-funded, but looking to join an accelerator and/or seed funding. In such case it would be preferable for you to be available to move to another country for 3 - 6 months with the rest of the team.{linebreak}{linebreak}{linebreak}Extra tags: php, javascript, wordpress, html5,css3

# Do you thrive on high-quality code?{linebreak}{linebreak}8-) is a danish company, that currently consists of a few different projects, all developed in PHP and as WordPress plugins. We currently have two main projects that we’re building, and we love testing out new solutions and playing around with new technologies.{linebreak}{linebreak}## Our Projects{linebreak}### Affiliate Plug.in{linebreak}Affiliate Plug.in is the oldest project. It’s a project that has been running since 2011, where the initial development began. The core features are creating price comparisons, by scraping webshops, primarily within the affiliate marketing industry.{linebreak}{linebreak}The plugin is currently in it’s second version, but the development of v3 has begun, and is a rewrite from scratch, where the initial architecture has been defined.{linebreak}{linebreak}Currently, Affiliate Plug.in only operates in Denmark, but the international potential is there, and with v3 we’re going all-in on the international approach.{linebreak}{linebreak}### TTF{linebreak}TTF is the other main project of 8-). The development has just begun a month ago, and the initial thoughts about the architecture has just begun.{linebreak}{linebreak}The project is essentially an analysis-platform, that calculates a set of results based on a lot of user input, through a formula created on a WordPress site.{linebreak}{linebreak}The system is a bit unusual in the WordPress sense, since we’re using MongoDB as our data storage.{linebreak}{linebreak}So far the project is still in it’s initial phase, so you’ll have great opportunities to impact the actual architecture and development in the future.{linebreak}{linebreak}## The skill set of the ideal candidate{linebreak}We’re looking for a person to assist and take a leading role in developing the projects, alongside our current developer (and co-founder).{linebreak}{linebreak}The requirements for this position are:{linebreak}{linebreak}- PHP, ninja-level{linebreak}- Git{linebreak}- HTML{linebreak}- CSS{linebreak}- JavaScript{linebreak}- WordPress{linebreak}{linebreak}You do not have to be a WordPress export, but some knowledge about how WP is build, would be preferable.{linebreak}{linebreak}As a bonus, but not a requirement, we’d love for you to have some experience with:{linebreak}{linebreak}- MongoDB{linebreak}- LESS/SCSS{linebreak}- Building WP Plugins/Themes{linebreak}- AngularJS{linebreak}{linebreak}## The Team{linebreak}Currently we are a team of 4 people. Lars is the original founder and developer of Affiliate Plug.in. Lasse teamed up with Lars and they founded 8-) together. Lasse has a background with online marketing.{linebreak}{linebreak}On a daily basis, they’re working at DuGlemmerDetAldrig.dk, a danish startup which Lasse founded in 2012. Currently DGDA is a team of 11 people, whereas Lars, Leo and Jonathan are the developers and form the ‘technical team’.{linebreak}{linebreak}Both Leo and Jonathan are also working on the TTF project at the moment, and you will be working with all 4 (Lars, Lasse, Leo and Jonathan) in your work with both Affiliate Plug.in and TTF.{linebreak}{linebreak}Extra tags: wordpress, php, javascript, html, css, less, architecture, crawling

We are looking for a designer/developer who will have two main goals:{linebreak}{linebreak}1. Brainstorm creative changes to our sites that improve traffic and performance, and then...{linebreak}2. Make those ideas happen.{linebreak}{linebreak}He or she must be able to continually imagine new strategies — everything from the obvious to the insane — and then design them, build them, test them, report on them, and finally make them live.{linebreak}{linebreak}**Skills & experience…**{linebreak}{linebreak}*Web development.* Proficient in JS, HTML, CSS, WordPress, and PHP (optional but preferred).{linebreak}{linebreak}*A/B testing.* You know how to set up and track A/B tests that measure whether users are doing what you are predicting they do.{linebreak}{linebreak}*Design.* Proficient in the major design softwares. UX-driven.{linebreak}{linebreak}*Comfortable in Google Analytics.* You know what questions to ask regarding the effectiveness of your tests and you know where to look to get the data.{linebreak}{linebreak}*Data-driven aesthetics.* You have your design ideals, sure, but you’ll shut them down as soon as you see the numbers pointing toward a different aesthetic. If the data shows that Papyrus is the font people click on more, we use it. It hurts, we know…but it works.{linebreak}{linebreak}*Familiarity with the viral web.* You understand that even though this corner of the web is all about happy and heartwarming content, really it’s a strategy and numbers game. And you want to win.{linebreak}{linebreak}*Self-motivated.* You care enough to do something crazy. We don’t want to ask for your ideas every day. We want to tell you to chill out because you have too many ideas on your own. And when you’ve been given the green light on an idea, you drive the project forward with little need for oversight.{linebreak}{linebreak}*Cunning.* You push every boundary except ethical ones in your creative attempts to grow traffic and improve performance.{linebreak}{linebreak}*Self-learner.* When you need to know something that you don’t already, you figure it out.{linebreak}{linebreak}*Confident and personable.* You can interact well with the team, pitch your ideas, and convince the rest of us to try your crazy plans.{linebreak}{linebreak}*Idea-generation.* “Brainstorm” is too mild of a word for the insane rush of creative thought spinning around in your mind.{linebreak}{linebreak}**This role’s constant workflow…**{linebreak}{linebreak}* Have a new idea for how traffic and site performance might improve.{linebreak}* Design and develop this innovation.{linebreak}* Create and track A/B tests to see if your new idea is effective.{linebreak}* Analyze data and create a report based on the results.{linebreak}* Present the results to the team.{linebreak}* Decide with the team whether to implement the new idea.{linebreak}* Implement the proven idea on the site.{linebreak}* Manage meticulous QA.{linebreak}* Start over at step 1.{linebreak}{linebreak}{linebreak}{linebreak}Extra tags: design, development, wordpress, data, google analytics, javascript, html, css, creative, growth hacking, testing, a/b testing
