This job post is closed and the position is probably filled. Please do not apply.
\nAt Bluecode were building the first European mobile payment scheme that enables cashless payments combined with value-added services. It's a solution from and for Europe; accepted at 20000 locations, from large and small department stores and supermarket chains to famous events like Oktoberfest (watch our CEO pitching at NOAH18 for more).\nWe just got additional funding, and we are making a strong push to increase the velocity and confidence at which we can continuously deploy our systems while more and more engineers work on them. A central part of that effort is remote blackbox API and UI testing, to guarantee that our systems continue to support every API flow and UI interaction flawlessly.\nTo that end were looking for a Software Engineer in Test that will help build, maintain, and scale our business critical automated acceptance test suite.\nEngineering @ Bluecode\n * We build new features on top of a modern stack, consisting of web apps (in a mix of Vue, Svelte, and Typescript) and native mobile SDKs communicating through APIs to Elixir services, backed by Postgres, all deployed in docker containers in a continuous delivery cycle to Kubernetes on AWS EKS, orchestrated by Pulumi.\n * You dont need to have experience in any of our specific technologies: were great at teaching good engineers how to use our modern SaaS stack.\n * We don't follow rigid Scrum or Kanban, but we do work in an agile, iterative way, and try to continuously improve and implement what works for us.\n \n\nWhat will you do?\n\n * You will join the automation and tooling team, a small, collaborative team of senior engineers, and be mainly working on the black box testing infrastructure, which we are building out (some prototypes exist, otherwise greenfield). This means theres a lot of opportunity and freedom to influence and help define direction, technology choices, etc. of the test automation infrastructure.\n * Your work will be the guard rails and launch track to allow our software engineers to develop and deploy at ever higher speeds and undertake deep refactorings without fear, because the automated black box tests will catch any changes in externally observable behavior of the system. In short, you will be a key enabler of developer velocity.\n * You will be building stuff like any other software engineering work, this means coding, delivering new features, code reviews, fixing bugs, peer programming and incident response.\n * You will own and be accountable for the different blackbox test suites and any other high-leverage coding/automation/tooling projects you take on.\n * You will collaborate with engineers, product managers and designers to help plan the work ahead, also to ensure that the automated acceptance tests are in place before product/feature launch.\n * You will be learning from and teaching other engineers; sharing your knowledge to enable them to contribute to the black box test suite, reducing knowledge silos in the process. As a senior engineer youre also encouraged to take on mentoring of junior engineers.\n * You will structure initial delivery and extension of the test suites into small, actionable tasks to deliver the most value in no time.\n * You will be involved with the product and engineering teams starting from the design phase to ensure high quality products for our customers and partners, which includes among other things to ensure the system remains very testable. As you will have a deep understanding of the externally visible behavior (or model) of our system, you will also have a voice on whether new features make sense, ie. whether they fit into the model of the existing system or are a departure.\n * Once the black box test automation is on a good track, there are opportunities for you to help with other automation and tooling tasks to support the engineering team (infrastructure automation, load and stress testing, improve tooling to shorten feedback cycle for developers, etc.).\n \n\n\nBenefits\n\nWhy do you want to work at Bluecode?\n * You can help build an amazing product in a company big enough for growth but lean enough to make a genuine impact.\n * The experience of being able to pay in real life with the system you've helped building is priceless.\n * A startup you'd be proud to use, we are putting consumers privacy first.\n * We will provide you with opportunities to develop your career.\n * You will be offered a competitive salary.\n * The work is fully remote and we have flexible working hours (though youre expected to overlap with Europe/Zurich for 5h per day).\n * Your equipment needs get covered by a recurring equipment stipend.\n * You will have a yearly budget for attending conferences.\n \n\n\n\nAt Bluecode, we foster an inclusive, supportive, fun yet challenging team environment. We value having a team that is made up of a diverse set of backgrounds and respect the healthy expression of diverse opinions. We embrace experimentation and the examination of all kinds of ideas through reasoning and testing. Come join us as we continue to change the world of mobile payment.\nIf you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to (paste into a Bourne-compatible shell):\n echo "moc tod edoceulb ta relleum tod d" | rev\nInterested? We'd love to hear from you.\n\n#Location\n🌏 Likely worldwide

\nCYBERTEC is looking for a Full Stack Developer to join the CYBERTEC Migrator team. \n\n\n\nThe project you'll be working on:\n\nThe CYBERTEC Migrator is a web-based database migration tool.\n\nOwnership costs of closed source databases (such as Oracle or Db2) are steadily rising, causing a renewed interest in open source alternatives, such as PostgreSQL. \nSadly, existing database migration tooling is largely inaccessible for anyone except seasoned DBAs. \nWe are planning to change that.\n\n\nOver the years CYBERTEC has had the opportunity to aid in many complex migration projects. We are now utilizing the learnings from these experiences to streamline the process.\n\nWhat makes us unique, is that we go deep, rather than wide when it comes to source database feature coverage, because we’ve been exposed to all kinds of setups in the wild.\n\nYou will be working alongside a small cross-functional team, and will be responsible for owning the front-end while occasionally helping out on the back-end.\n\nThe CYBERTEC Migrator back-end is a TypeScript / Node.js application, with the front-end also being written in TypeScript (+ React / Redux).\n\nWe are passionate about crafting delightful user experiences. We’d be happy to chat if that applies to you as well ;)\n\n\n\nYour Profile:\n\n\n* Proficiency in TypeScript / JavaScript\n\n* RDBMS knowledge (not necessarily operational), more specifically Oracle Database and / or PostgreSQL\n\n* Proficiency in React / Redux\n\n* Familiarity with Figma\n\n* Fluency in spoken and written English and German\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat we offer:\n\n\n* Flat hierarchies, a pleasant, familial working atmosphere and a motivated team\n\n* Flexible working hours and Home Office\n\n* All the hardware & software you need to get things done\n\n\n\n\nProcess:\n\n* Initial Q&A and homework assignment\n\n* Reasonable amount of time to complete homework\n\n* Homework review with the team\n\n* Hiring decision\n\n\n\nAll interviews are done online and our team is working from home.\n\nYou will be compensated for the time you spend on the homework (which will take about two hours)\n\nWe are looking for a full-time employee (38,5 hrs). Salary will be determined based on professional experience; the formal minimum monthly salary according to collective agreement is EUR 3.094,- gross. We are not interested in agencies.\n\n#Location\n🌏 Likely worldwide

\nC#/.NET Software Engineer\n\nWhy IDS?\n\nToday’s virtual training environments are segmented and simplistic—the opposite of the real-world’s complex and integrated cyber battlefield. When even the most subtle input can influence every other facet of an operation, the one-dimensional training provided to our armed forces is not only outdated, it flat-out fails to equip them to outpace the operational tempo of the rapidly-evolving multi-domain battlefield. In the virtual arena, new threats emerge every day. IDS provides the tools for warfighters and cyber operators not just to prepare for them, but to anticipate the risks and to be ready for them when they arrive.\n\nSocial Media Environment and Internet Replication (SMEIR™), a product of IDS International Government Services, is a digital training solution that provides a full-range, free-play, immersive, realistic and scalable operational practice environment in which warfighters simultaneously train on full-spectrum cyberspace operations and social media analytics during integrated and multi-dimensional exercises.\n\nIDS International is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing team and build out the next generation of our internet simulation platform, called SMEIR. Our extensive software suite is deployed into cyber-training exercises in various environments. The Senior .Net/C# Software Engineer will further develop our .NET and Node.js based command and control software.  Our engineering team uses a modified Scrum/Agile process.  Candidate must be at ease working in an agile environment with little supervision. We use Slack, Jira and Git for project and software management.  Our main office is in Arlington, VA with remote opportunities available for the right candidate.   \n\nRequired Qualifications:\n\n\n* Minimum 4 years professional experience with:\n\n\n* .NET\n\n* .NET Core 2.x WebAPI\n\n* C# 7+\n\n* RESTful API Design / Development\n\n* MongoDB.\n\n\n\n\n\n* Familiarity with Microservice Architecture.\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n\n* Experience with:\n\n\n* ECMA (JavaScript) / Node.js / Meteor.js / React.js\n\n* HTML/CSS\n\n* Docker\n\n* Kubernetes.\n\n\n\n\n\n* Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.\n\n* Dev/Ops Experience with Linux, BASH, Python.\n\n* Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field. \n\n\n\n\nIDS’s competitive benefit package starts you off out on the right foot. Eligibility begins day one.\n\n\n* Health and Well-being - 100% of employee medical and other insurance premiums are paid by IDS.\n\n* Financial Future – 401(k) with an industry leading match and no waiting period. You are fully vested in all contributions from the start.\n\n* Paid Leave - Generous time off accruals for you to take paid leave, totaling five weeks.\n\n* Professional Development – networking opportunities, informal mentoring, education reimbursement and access to thousands of online professional development resources.\n\n* Casual, fun, and supportive work environment with all the tools and amenities you need to thrive.\n\n\n\n\nMust be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing. Most positions require ability to work on a desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time. Computer activities include reading, reviewing and analyzing information, as well as providing recommendations, summaries, and reports in written or verbal format. Additionally, positions require ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; as well as speak and hear.\n\nEmployee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.\n\nQualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or protected veteran status, and any other characteristic protected by federal, state, and local law.\n\nIf you are unable to apply through the portal and need to speak to someone about necessary accommodations to apply, please email [email protected] and we will follow up with you. \nFull Stack JavaScript Software Engineer\n\nWhy IDS?\n\nToday’s virtual training environments are segmented and simplistic—the opposite of the real-world’s complex and integrated cyber battlefield. IDS provides the tools for warfighters and cyber operators not just to prepare for them, but to anticipate the risks and to be ready for them when they arrive.\n\nSocial Media Environment and Internet Replication (SMEIR™), a product of IDS International Government Services, is a digital training solution that provides a full-range, free-play, immersive, realistic and scalable operational practice environment in which warfighters simultaneously train on full-spectrum cyberspace operations and social media analytics during integrated and multi-dimensional exercises.\n\nIDS International is seeking a Mid to Senior level Full Stack JavaScript Software Engineer to join our growing team and build out the next generation of our internet simulation platform, called SMEIR. The Software Engineer will replicate various websites and social media platforms that will be used for cyber-training exercises. IDSI’s engineering team uses a modified Scrum/Agile process. Candidate must be at ease working in an agile environment with little supervision. IDSI uses Slack, Jira and Git for project and software management. Our main office is in Arlington, VA with remote opportunities available for the right candidate.   \n\nResponsibilities:\n\n\n* Use software development languages including Javascript, Node.js, SQL and tools to write, edit, maintain, and test computer software as part of a synthetic cyberspace training environment.\n\n* Follow the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to plan, design, build, test, and deploy software applications, ranging from websites and mobile applications to web applications, video games, and back end API architecture.\n\n* In addition to creating new software, improve and maintain the working order of existing software.\n\n\n\n\nRequired Qualifications:\n\n\n* Minimum 3 years professional experience with:\n\n\n* JavaScript (ECMA)\n\n* Node.js\n\n* HTML5/CSS3\n\n* Building and using RESTful APIs\n\n* Git\n\n* Familiarity with Microservice Architecture.\n\n\n\n\n\n* Minimum of 5 years of professional, related experience.\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n\n* Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.\n\n* Experience with:\n\n\n* Meteor.js\n\n* MongoDB\n\n* React.js\n\n* Docker\n\n* Kubernetes\n\n\n\n\n\n* Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.\n\n* Dev/Ops Experience with Linux, BASH, Python.\n\n\n\n\nIDS’s competitive benefit package starts you off out on the right foot. In addition to the manufacture and sale of cigarettes, including the number one global cigarette brand, and other tobacco products, PMI is engaged in the development and commercialization of Reduced-Risk Products ("RRPs"). *RRPs is the term we use to refer to products that present, are likely to present, or have the potential to present less risk of harm to smokers who switch to these products versus continued smoking. We have a range of RRPs in various stages of development, scientific assessment and commercialization. Because our RRPs do not burn tobacco, they produce far lower quantities of harmful and potentially harmful compounds than found in cigarette smoke. For more information, see www.pmi.com and www.pmiscience.com.\n\nPMI is an Equal Opportunity Employer.\n\nA valid Swiss work permit or Swiss or EU-25/EFTA citizenship is required for this position.\n\nPMI affiliates do not accept referrals from employment agencies in respect of the vacancies posted on this site. \nWe’re Margot International, a Stockholm-based startup and industrial equipment marketplace on a mission to transform the marine industries.\n\nWhat does that mean?\n\nThink of Airbnb, Ebay or Amazon and now replace the properties, the second-hand items and the retail products with marine equipment such as underwater robots and ship parts. That’s us.\n\nWhy is this interesting?\n\nTo date, most industries have been transformed by the digital revolution, but the traditional world of the marine industries is still waiting.\n\nSo, we’re creating the first digital disruption of this trillion dollar industry.\n\nWhat have we accomplished?\n\nWe have the first version of our online platform up and running with 300 corporate users and 200 listed products worth over 80 million dollars.\n\nWe have raised our first round of capital with some of the finest professionals from the tech and marine industries.\n\nSo all that awaits is for you, our lead Ruby on Rails developer to join us and help us deliver the marketplace that empowers our ecosystem to transact online.\n\nWhat are the challenges?\n\nUnlimited possibilities come with challenges. The items we list are generally complex with pricing in the range of 10 000 dollars to 10 000 000 dollars. Our transaction options range from direct sales to auction and rental plus other ideas we are currently working on.\n\nSo all in all, the list of possibilities in the product roadmap is massive and we’re looking for a tech lead who can understand the possibilities and challenges and help us deliver a system that can help us realize our full commercial potential.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\n* \n\nYou will be the tech lead of the product and will have complete ownership of our product roadmap.\n\n\n* \n\nYou will have complete freedom to choose the stack choices and change them if needed.\n\n\n* \n\nYou will play a key role in building our tech team for the future and setting the team culture to deliver products that exceed expectations.\n\n\n\n\nRequirements:\n\n* \n\n3+ years of experience in designing, building large-scale Ruby on Rails applications;\n\n\n* \n\nTrack-record of continuous integration and delivery;\n\n\n* \n\nFamiliarity with Heroku and Postgres;\n\n\n* \n\nLeadership and communication skills to front the development of our tech-team;\n\n\n* \n\nFluency in English.\n\n\n\n\nWe’re a small but experienced and ambitious team with a strong industry track-record. Our office is based at SUP46 the world-class startup innovation hub in Stockholm. Our aim is to develop products and systems which change the way a trillion dollar industry functions. The potential for you to grow with us and to influence our direction is massive and we’d love you to join us early on this exciting journey.\n\nSo if you’re an experienced ruby-on-rails developer wondering where you would have the maximum impact for your presence, ping us and let's talk right away!\n\n#Location\n🌏 Likely worldwide

\nDo you want to use your development skills for good? Would you like to be part of an employee-managed non-hierarchical organisation for social benefit? If so, join us!\n\nIn short\n\n\n* Full stack web development\n\n* Django or similar\n\n* Linux\n\n* Agile\n\n* Not-for-profit motivated by social impact\n\n* Employee managed organisation\n\n* 35 hours, 6 weeks holidays + bank holidays\n\n* Part time and remote considered. Flexible hours\n\n* £36,400 pa\n\n\n\n\nWhat we're looking for\nAt Aptivate we don’t have job titles. We are generalists with cross-cutting skills and responsibilities, and most of us specialise in a few areas, for example, software development, project management or design. We often change roles depending on what needs doing and how a team is made up. We are all responsible for the organisation's well-being. There’s currently nine of us and we often find that we need more capacity to work in a development role.\n\nWe are looking for a generalist, with digital application development skills. However, this is more than just a development role. At Aptivate we are equally responsible for setting and working towards our mission. You would have equal ownership and responsibility over Aptivate and become part of what makes it work.\n\nSkills we're in need of:\nWe are looking for someone who has skills in full-stack web application development. We'd expect at least two years experience in web development, with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and a backend framework. We'd also expect knowledge of common development tools such as Git, experience using Unix-like systems and some experience with automated testing.\n\nOur favourite framework is Django although we sometimes use Drupal, WordPress, CKAN or other frameworks when appropriate. We would expect you to have experience with a web application framework such as Django or Rails. Django is of particular interest to us.\n\nAlthough we sometimes create simple websites most of our work is web applications that involve backend business logic, database access, and integration with other applications so we would expect you to have experience writing that kind of application.\n\nIt probably goes without saying but you should be able to write clean maintainable code, be keen to learn, be self-motivated, and have good communication skills.\n\nBonus points for:\n\n\n* Familiarity with Agile development processes\n\n* Dev Ops: Linux based server maintenance and automation, deployment, CI, etc.\n\n* Building REST APIs (or similar) (e.g. Django Rest Framework, etc.)\n\n* Data analysis/visualisation (Numpy, Pandas, Bokeh, D3, or similar)\n\n* Modern JS frameworks (React, Vue, Angular n+1)\n\n* Maps (leaflet, OpenLayers, Google maps)\n\n* UX/Visual design\n\n* Standards, tools and frameworks common in international development (ODK, Commcare, Ushahdi, Frontline SMS, Rapid Pro, CKAN, IATI, etc.)\n\n* Project lead and management\n\n* Organisational management\n\n* Work in organisations with a flat structure\n\n* Facilitation\n\n* International development sector\n\n* Up for taking an active role in the management of, and sharing responsibility for an employee-run organisation\n\n* Demonstrate interest in for-more-than-profit work\n\n\n\n\nWhat will you be doing?\nOur clients are charities, NGOs and governments who are working in international development. We only take on work which we feel is worthwhile and contributes in some way to our vision of empowering people to have a say about decisions that affect them.\n\nYou will work on a variety of projects with different technology requirements. Our projects sometimes entail a project manager, UX designer and multiple developers. We prefer it when that happens. But sometimes it might be just you. We typically have several projects on the go at once and you may be involved with more than one.\n\nProjects often start with discovery workshops to understand user needs, develop personas, and build a prioritised backlog of User Stories. Iterative development follows with regular deployments, feedback and retrospectives. Daily check-ins with clients by video call keep everyone on the same page. The team do whatever it takes to get the User Stories to Done: project setup, analysis, database design, back-end coding, front end coding, HTML and CSS. You’ll be involved in all aspects.\n\nWe’re all generalists. You will regularly participate in things outside the developer role, including:\n\n\n* Represent Aptivate at technical and international development conferences and events\n\n* Work directly with clients; build, maintain and manage the relationships that are central to our reputation and success\n\n* Write proposals, negotiate contracts\n\n* Participate in discovery workshops, analyse and understand user needs\n\n\n\n\nWe make important decisions about the organisation together by consensus and you will participate in this process, helping us to improve and develop our working practices. You will be invited to become a director of the organisation following a successful appraisal period.\n\nAbout the role\nIt is possible to work from either our Cambridge or Brighton offices. For the right candidate we will consider remote or home based candidates who can working within, or close to UK hours 10am-6pm and who are available to easily travel to our offices and to monthly meetings in London. Remote workers would not need to attend all such meetings in person but will be encouraged to participate periodically in person.\n\nHow to apply\nPlease send us the following as PDF attachments:\n\n\n* your CV (maximum two sides)\n\n* a personal statement describing why you would like to work with Aptivate and what you would bring to this role (maximum two sides)\n\n\n\n\nYou must be able to legally work in the UK (unless applying to work remotely). If you have any questions about the role or about Aptivate please contact us at [email protected]\n\nNo recruiters or agencies, Thank you.\n\n#Location\n🌏 Likely worldwide

Super!

\nWe are a not-for-profit company (eHealth International) with a formidable mission: to curb the global epidemic of child/adolescent obesity using technology.  Our longtime developer recently died without warning, and we are ardently searching for a new developer.\n\nWhat we're looking for and why: \n\nWe have two potential projects for the iOS app in 2018, one with Penn State and one with Univ. of Southern California.  The large, multicenter trial with the app, currently being organized by CHLA, will launch in early 2019.  There’s a fair amount of work to streamline and fully test the app prior to that launch.  Also, several new features will be added to the iOS app in 2018, and porting to an Android version is desired (partially complete).  A 4-month test trial with the iOS app containing the new features is planned in 2018, using 20 young people, in preparation for the multi-center trial.\n\nWe are seeking a developer with experience in iOS app and server-side development and familiarity with the Windows and OS operating systems.  Knowledge of Android development is a plus.\n\nWhat you'll work on: \n\nAn iOS app (W8Loss2Go.com) that is a complete intervention for child/adolescent obesity based on the addiction approach.  This app is fast becoming an important healthcare tool, as nothing else effectively curbs the obesity problem except bariatric surgery.  Development of the iOS app began in 2010 with 278 released versions since then.  An Android version has been partially ported.  The iOS app is intimately integrated with an AWS secure server with a MySQL database and server-side PHP code for hand-shaking with the app to both receive real-time data from the app and control app functions.  The server-side code also implements an extensive data display system for mentors supporting the young people using the app, as well as an electronic medical record for documentation of mentor interactions with app users.\n\nA website for overweight young people and their parents (weigh2rock.com) that was launched in 1999 and is very much in need of upgrading.  For 10 years the site received upwards of 100,000 visitors per month and still is a key resource for overweight youth and their parents.  In 2010 a book, Overweight: What Kids Say, resulted from the 140,000+ archived bulletin board posts and chat room transcripts that kids wrote on the site (https://www.amazon.com/dp/1450534392).\n\nA Wordpress website for childhood obesity news with a blog at http://childhoodobesitynews.com\n\nJob attributes and functions\n\n\n* Remotely work from home on your own time\n\n* Dedicated, easy to work with organization (eHealth International)\n\n* Cutting edge medical (obesity) intervention implemented with technology\n\n* Evaluate existing iOS app to reprogram, update, and add new features\n\n* Further develop existing app with artificial intelligence features\n\n* Creative application design encouraged\n\n* Multimedia app features\n\n* See instant human results of your work – do good for the world\n\n* Implementation of new treatment techniques in the app on an ongoing basis\n\n* Involvement in academic multi-center research studies, globally\n\n* Get developer’s name recognized in papers published\n\n* Ever expanding applications \n\n\n\n\nSuggested Developer Skill Sets: \n\n\n* iOS development\n\n* Objective-c\n\n* UIKit\n\n*  Foundation\n\n* CoreData\n\n* CoreBluetooth\n\n* Networking\n\n* HTML/CSS/JS\n\n* Xcode IDE\n\n* iOS app deployment\n\n\n\n\nIf you think you're the right person for the job please find additional information below.  \n\nDocumentation on the iOS app is at http://weigh2rock.com/iphone/Roadmap-8-16-17.rtf\n\nThe source code of the iOS app and code for a partially ported Android version are at: http://weigh2rock.com/iphone/W8LOSS2GO_APP.zip\n\n#Location\n🌏 Likely worldwide
