Shopify is hiring a Remote Senior Software Development Manager

**Company Description**\n\nShopify is now permanently remote and working towards a future that is digital by default. \n\nShopify is the leading cloud-based, multi-channel commerce platform. Merchants can use the software to design, set up, and manage their stores across multiple sales channels, including web, mobile, social media, marketplaces, and brick-and-mortar locations. The platform also provides merchants with a powerful back-office and a single view of their business. Shopify was engineered for reliability and scale, making enterprise-level technology available to businesses of all sizes. Shopify powers over 1,000,000 businesses in over 175 countries — and here’s how we’ve been helping more merchants survive, thrive, and navigate the impacts of COVID-19.\n \nShopify is on a fast-moving mission to make the best products for merchants, buyers, and partners around the globe. \n \nIntrigued? That’s great! We’re looking for Senior Software Development Managers to join our team, and maybe you’re the person we’re looking for!\n\n**Job Description\nYou’ll be working on things like:**\n\n* Managing several teams and helping them prioritize, build and ship the most impactful features to our merchants and community of developers.\n* As a member of the product area leadership, build a composite roadmap that reflects the priorities in the different areas and continuously rebalance the teams to react to changes in the surrounding conditions.\n* Work on problems with your teams, roll up your sleeves, form an opinion and advocate for engineering-specific roadmap items.\n* Work with product, UX and other disciplines to discover the best solutions for our merchants.\n* Grow a team of teams both through internal development and helping with external hiring.\n\n**Qualifications\nQualities you likely have to be well suited to this role:**\n\n* Proven technical leadership skills using technologies and frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, Java/JEE, Node.js, ReactJS, PHP or Python.\n* Familiarity with distributed and highly available systems at scale.\n* A strong technical foundation. You feel comfortable diving into the code and interacting with developers at all levels of seniority.\n* Experience designing and developing APIs.\n* Proven leadership skills. Your management skills and technical depth allows you to develop and mentor others as well as build credibility with your team while executing broader engineering strategies.\n* You are comfortable working with senior stakeholders (Director level and up), both technical and non technical.\n* You have successfully built and grown large teams of engineers during your career.\n* A commitment and drive for quality, technical excellence and results.\n\n**Bonus Points:**\n\n* Domain experience in eCommerce, shipping & logistics, or financial services is ideal but not necessary for versatile engineering leaders who are strong in their craft.\n* You have experience building your own app(s) on platforms like Shopify.\n\n**Additional information\nHere's how to apply:**\n\nWe know that looking for a new role can be both exciting and time-consuming, and we truly appreciate your effort. Jane is an actual real live person (👋🏻) and is looking forward to learning more about you through your application. This job post is closed and the position is probably filled. Please do not apply.
## What We Do\n\nOverleaf is a startup and social enterprise that builds modern collaborative authoring tools for scientists — like Google Docs for Science. We have over six million registered users from around the world. Our primary product is an online, real-time collaborative editor for papers, theses, technical reports and other documents written in the LaTeX markup language.\n\n## Who We Are\n\nOverleaf was founded by two mathematicians who were inspired by their own experiences in academia to create a better solution for scientific collaboration and communication. Now we are a team of about forty with fifteen developers, based mainly in and around the UK and in the US. We were recently recognised as one of the [UK's top 100 fastest growing businesses](https://www.overleaf.com/blog/overleaf-recognized-as-one-of-the-uks-top-100-fastest-growing-businesses) and as the [Best SaaS for Nonprofits or Education](https://www.overleaf.com/blog/overleaf-named-2020-saas-awards-winner) in the 2020 SaaS Awards Program.\n\n## Our Tech\n\nOverleaf is based on open source software, and most of our product code is itself open source. You can find it on GitHub: https://github.com/overleaf/overleaf (note: most activity is in the repos linked from there).\n\nWe run a mainly Node.js back end using MongoDB, PostgreSQL and Redis. We use a microservices architecture, with about a dozen services. On the front end, we mainly use Angular v1 and are incrementally migrating to React.\n\nWe're hosted on Google Cloud Platform using Google Kubernetes Engine. We use Docker to manage our development environments. We support continuous delivery and typically deploy at least a few times a day (less on Fridays).\n\n## How We Work\n\nOverleaf is remote-first --- all founders and staff work remotely. We also have an office in Farringdon for those in the London area, and when the pandemic settles down we'll again get the whole team together in London a few times a year for face-to-face time.\n\nWe encourage flexible working. Our core hours are 2pm–5pm UK time, during which our development teams have 10–15 minute daily standup calls. We have few standing meetings for developers, but we do many smaller video or voice calls for pairing or within teams.\n\nWe always collect user feedback to inform our work. We have UX professionals on our team, and we run many surveys and user interviews.\n\nWe organize our work with Kanban. We use GitHub pull requests for each feature with code review to share knowledge and best practices (and catch bugs). We test thoroughly with automated unit and acceptance tests, supported by continuous integration (CI). We're also fans of linting to minimise bike-shedding (and to catch bugs).\n\n## About This Role\n\nWe plan to add two developers to our team, both with a backend focus. Experience with some of Node.js, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis or Kubernetes is desirable. We are also particularly interested in meeting you if:\n\n- you'd be interested in taking up a team lead role in the not too distant future, or\n- you have experience with setting up data pipelines for web analytics and/or business intelligence.\n\nKey projects on our road map this year include:\n\n- Improve our B2C conversion metrics and monitoring — we'll be setting up a new web analytics system to generate insights we need while continuing to respect user privacy\n- Consolidate our two project history systems — we currently have two from our integration with ShareLaTeX in 2017, each with hundreds of TB to be consolidated\n- Make our project PDF preview faster and less bandwidth hungry — we have prototypes showing big wins that now need productionizing\n\nHere are some examples of projects (large and small) we've recently completed:\n\n- https://www.overleaf.com/blog/new-feature-file-outline-is-now-available-on-overleaf\n- https://www.overleaf.com/blog/new-feature-transfer-project-ownership-on-overleaf\n- https://www.overleaf.com/blog/523-a-data-driven-approach-to-latex-autocomplete\n\nIn the longer term, we are planning projects around improved collaboration features for teams, improvements to our rich text mode, and more.\n\n## How We Hire\n\nThe stages in our hiring process are typically:\n\n1. We will aim to update you on the status of your application within 14 days from when we receive it.\n\n2. We'll follow up by email (or sometimes schedule a phone call) with any questions we have about your application, usually around logistics, your ambitions and your expectations about the role.\n\n3. We'll schedule a more in-depth interview, which is typically two hours long. The first hour is discussion, and the second hour is technical. For the technical, you'll have the option of either completing a homework assignment, which requires about one hour of your time before the interview, or solving a problem in the interview, if you prefer. The problems are practical in nature (no fizz-buzz or reversing linked lists), and you can use Google, man pages, etc., and ask us questions.\n\n4. We'll make an offer. We usually interview in batches, so there may be a short delay while we interview other candidates, but we will try to keep you informed throughout the process.\n\nIf you have a deadline, please let us know in your application, and we will try to be accommodating.\n\n## Requirements\n\nWe require that you:\n\n- have a minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience (we aren't taking on more new graduates at the moment).\n- will work for us full time (or nearly full time).\n- will usually be available in our core hours, 2pm–5pm UK time.\n\nApplicants in the UK, Europe, US and Canada are preferred.\n\nExperience with the technologies we use is always a plus, but you don't need to know them all; your ability to learn is much more important to us.\n\n## Benefits\n\n- Remote and flexible working.\n- Salary £40k–£75k per year depending on experience.\n- You would join a small, dedicated and growing team.\n- We're substantially (around 80%) open source, so your work will often be on open source code.\n- We're backed by Bethnal Green Ventures (https://bethnalgreenventures.com/) and Digital Science (https://www.digital-science.com/), through which we're part of a wider community of startups in science, health and ed-tech.\n- Our London office is shared with several other Digital Science companies, so there's lots of interesting people to meet, and clubs and sports activities outside of work.\n- We get everyone together in London for team meetings several times a year for valuable face-to-face time (pandemic permitting).\n- You can pick your own equipment. MacBook Pro? Lenovo ThinkPad? Notebook and pen? However you like to work, we'll provide what you need.\n- We provide a training budget; many of our developers choose to attend relevant industry conferences or buy training materials.\n- We run quarterly [remote hackathons](https://www.overleaf.com/blog/overleafs-remote-hackathon-revisited-one-year) to keep learning and experimenting.\n- We run a weekly internal seminar series with short talks from staff about their work or personal projects, new technologies and techniques.\n\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n$55,000 — $105,000/year\n\n\n#Location\nUS, Canada, UK, Europe

# Summary\nReady to lead and grow a team of developers while executing the company vision? We need a hands-on Software Development Lead who can grow our team from 3 to 15 developers by the end of next year, while having a direct impact on the growth and future of the organization. You’ll be able to work remotely from anywhere in North America and we’re looking for someone to get started right away with growing the team!\n\n# About Us:\nAt Funnelytics, we provide the ultimate tool for marketers. We’re working to build the gold standard in marketing analytics products. We believe that analytics should be an interactive experience, rather than a simple visualization of charts and graphs. Analytics products with the same dry metrics are all too common. There are 15 of us and we’re a pretty fun crew. We’re proud and excited about the work we’re doing. We can’t wait to meet you, share our passion, and bring you aboard!\n\n# The Job Overview:\nWe are looking for someone ASAP! You'll ensure the quality of your teams work through pair programming, code reviews, unit tests and test automation.\n\n**What else?**\n\nOn top of working with talented and passionate people in an informal but fast-paced ever-changing business, you'll enjoy the following benefits\n* Plenty of travel opportunities\n* Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance plans to fit your needs\n* 20 days' holiday (in addition to all public holidays) + a bonus day for your Birthday. This goes up to 22 days after 3 years and 25 days after 5 years with us\n* An annual allowance to spend on your personal growth such as learning French, pottery or even attending a beer tasting course\n* Paid professional training & events\n* $50 monthly mobile phone allowance\n\n**Who are we?**\n\nTigerspike is a digital services company solving complex business problems by creating digital products which improve people's lives.\n\nFocusing on strategy, experience design, development and systems integration, our work is hinged on five key values: Transparency, Resilience, Problem-solving, Energy and Curiosity. **Overview:** \n\nAt Segment, we believe companies should be able to send their data wherever they want, whenever they want, with no fuss. We make this easy with a single platform that collects, stores, filters, transforms, and sends data to hundreds of business tools with the flip of a switch. More recently, we also developed the ability to let customers enrich their data in real time using computations they specify. Our goal is to make it easy to understand, extract value, and protect the integrity of data. We are creating a world where engineers spend their time working on their core product, letting us take care of the complexities of processing their customer data reliably at scale. We’re in the running to take over the entire customer data ecosystem, and we need the best people to take the market. \n\n**Who we are:**\n\nWe develop our product across a number of geographically distributed teams including San Francisco (HQ), Vancouver, and remote in the USA, each with a particular product feature focus area. From collecting data through analytics.js, to building powerful tools for data governance, to implementing algorithms that can handle complex billing scenarios at scale, to visualizing our customers’ data flow through our pipelines, to making complex implementations manageable for our large enterprise customers, to optimizing Sign Up conversion, our product teams are focused on creating fantastic user experiences. We're looking for talented engineers that are passionate about building world-class experiences that delight our customers.\n\n**What We Do:\n**\n* We enjoy building UIs in React so much that we created and open sourced our own component library: [Evergreen](http://github.com/segmentio/evergreen)\n* We believe in using the best tool for the job. We write customer-facing features using React, Node.JS and GraphQL. Our write-heavy traffic services are written with Go and leverage multiple data storage solutions.\n* We deploy our code multiple times per day.\n* We love conferences (one of our engineers spoke in 4 different countries last year!)\n* We love open source: https://open.segment.com\n* We’re proud of the code we write, but we’re not dogmatic about methodologies or techniques. We believe building the "right thing" is more important than building things "right". However, we take our customers’ dependence on our systems very seriously and strive to build highly performant and reliable software that are parts of our customers’ core infrastructure.\n\n# Responsibilities\n **Who We're Looking For:\n**\n* You can turn complex business requirements into working software that our customers love to use.\n* You're proud of the code you write, but you're also pragmatic.\n* You know when it is time to refactor, and when it's time to ship.\n* You're focused, driven and can get challenging projects across the finish line.\n* You're empathetic, patient and love to help your teammates grow.\n* You have experience running apps in production and take software engineering practices seriously. You write meaningful tests and understand the value of great logging, proper monitoring and error tracking. \n\n# Requirements\n**Requirements\n**\n* Able to work remotely in USA only \n* You can write both client side and server side JavaScript using the latest APIs and language features.\n* You have some familiarity with Golang or Elixir or are excited to learn it.\n* Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in engineering or some cool projects on GitHub you think we'll love to check out.\n* You provide a deep understanding of the complexities involved in writing large single-page applications.\n* You show evidence of exposure to architectural patterns of high-scale web application (e.g., well-designed APIs, high volume data pipelines, efficient algorithms).\n* You value teamwork and agree with the statement that “a team is a group of people who own each others’ decisions”.\n \nSegment is an equal opportunity employer. We believe that everyone should receive equal consideration and treatment. Recruitment, hiring, placements, transfers, and promotions will happen based on qualifications for the positions being filled regardless of sex, gender identity, race, religious creed, color, national origin ancestry, age, physical disability, pregnancy, mental disability, or medical condition.

# Lead Product Engineer - Core Experience\nSegment is building the future of how companies manage their constantly increasing volume of customer data. We help our customers collect data from a variety of sources, combine and understand that data, and ultimately act on it to give their users a better experience.\nImagine you want to answer a question that is core to your business — maybe you changed the pricing on your product and you want to understand if that’s driving revenue or creating churn and customer confusion. In order to properly answer that question, you would need data from your payment processor, your CRM, and telemetry data from your application. In the past, business teams have had to wait for developers to build ETL pipelines to move data from one place to another. This is painful, time-consuming, and doesn’t keep up with the pace of the customer needs. Segment allows you to get all of this data in one place, automatically, and start using it immediately rather than spending time building data pipelines.\n## Who we are:\nWe're a small distributed team of full-stack engineers based in San Francisco, Vancouver and the world 🌎 who love to ship high-quality code.\nFrom collecting data through [analytics.js](https://github.com/segmentio/analytics.js), to building powerful tools for data governance, to implementing algorithms that can handle complex billing scenarios at scale, to optimizing Sign Up conversion, the Product Engineering team is focused on creating fantastic user experiences.\nWe're looking for talented engineers that are passionate about building world-class experiences that delight our customers.\n## How we work:\n- 💅 We enjoy building UIs in React so much that we created our own internal components library.\n- 🛠️ We believe in using the best tool for the job. We write customer facing features using React, NodeJS and GraphQL. Our write-heavy traffic services are written with Go and leverage multiple data storage solutions.\n- 🚢 We deploy our code multiple times per day. We "semver" everything :)\n- 🎤 We love conferences. (An engineer spoke in 4 different countries last year!)\n- 👯 We love open source: https://open.segment.com\n- 📈 We’re proud of the code we write, but we’re not dogmatic about methodologies or techniques. We believe building the "right thing" is more important than building things "right".\n\n## Who we're looking for:\nYou can turn complex business requirements into working software that our customers love to use.\n- You're proud of the code you write, but you're also pragmatic.\n- You know when it is time to refactor, and when it's time to ship.\n- You're focused, driven and can get challenging projects across the finish line.\n- You're empathetic, patient and love to help your teammates grow.\n- You have experience running apps in production and take software engineering practices seriously. You write meaningful tests and understand the value of great logging, proper monitoring and error tracking.\n\n## A few projects you could be working on:\n- We collaborated closely with our BizOps and Design team to rebuild all parts of our billing experience, from the customer’s first visit, to building a pricing simulator tool, to implementing algorithms that can handle complex billing scenarios at our scale.\n- We’re building an [open-source version](https://github.com/segmentio/evergreen) of our UI library that saves our engineers multiple hours of work every week. Think pixel-perfect implementations by default 😱 🎨.\n- We used a [HLL](http://antirez.com/news/75) to scale an analytics tool that handles thousands of requests / sec.\n- We're building powerful tools that help our customers protect the integrity of their data, and the decisions they make with it.\n\n## Requirements:\n- You can write both client side and server side JavaScript using the latest APIs and language features.\n- You have some familiarity with Golang or are excited to learn it.\n- Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in engineering or some cool projects on GitHub you think we'll love to check out.\n- You provide a deep understanding of the complexities involved in writing large single-page applications.\n- You show evidence of exposure to architectural patterns of high-scale web application (e.g., well-designed APIs, high volume data pipelines, efficient algorithms.)\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

A new opportunity — Wanted: Tech Lead with Product Owner experience for growing company going places * Hi there,\n\nMy name is Kuty. I work with entrepreneur and speaker Michael Hagler.\n\nTogether we run a software development company that solves hard problems for enterprise grade companies - some are names you know, others are huge but you never noticed them.\n\nOur clients include world leading logistics companies, billion dollar hedge funds, Hollywood Studios, leading Fintech organizations, as well as startups by ex-googlers and serial entrepreneurs. We’ve run over a dozen launches the past year alone, and projects keep getting more and more interesting!\n\nCheck us out here: http://Clevertech.biz\n\nFor the right person, this is a dream opportunity — and dream company. For others, the pace is daunting.\n\nWe are growing, and we’re looking for a tech lead who also knows how to lead and own a product. We have a team of over 125 but this position leads a single focused team of 3-7 dedicated developers to solve a tough problem for our clients  — giving the right people a chance to shape what we do.\n\nWe’re looking for someone who is experienced in software development, has career successes under their belt, and now wants to apply all they’ve learned to the hard problems of today, while being 100% remote. On top of that, you have a great reason for wanting to be remote.\n\nThe right candidate has worked in larger organizations/super fast paced organizations and is familiar with the lay of the land of complex requirements from a multi-faceted management team. This person has taken a product from design to production and is well versed in the software architecture of the production landscape. Whether between projects or in a place where they’ve gotten all that they can out of their current position, the proposition of a new opportunity is one that excites them.\n\nOur ideal candidate… 1) Has a strong background in software and product development 2) Is a capable manager 3) Is on the cutting edge of tech 4) Is empathetic to concerns of others\n\nWe’re a great company to join. Here’s why…\n\nThe company is growing and you will be getting in at the ground level. This is one of our most important positions, and crucial to making sure our next steps are the right ones.\nWe have an unbelievably engaged team, with world-class people in every position that continue to create accomplishments for our clients\nWe’ve got our ducks in a row. We have solid processes across the company that’ll allow you to start in fifth gear from day one.\nOur clients are fantastic. We take on just the best with the most interesting puzzles and are incredibly selective in who we work with. We turn down projects daily, so we only focus on the best problems of the day.\nWe’re a remote company and you’ve the freedom to work from anywhere (preferably we’re looking for someone in the US, Canada or Western Europe, but open to candidates the world over).\nWe’re going places.\nYou want to try work at a place where you are racing to keep up, not waiting for your peers to catch you.\n* To apply… For those who stand out, we will be in touch to discuss next steps. There’s no deadline for submissions, but those who apply sooner are at an advantage. If you haven’t heard from us within a week of writing, please assume that on this occasion you haven’t been selected for an interview. However, that might change any time.\n\nIt’s a fun journey, and we hope you can join us.\n\nBest of luck, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Our client just had a funding round and plan to develop the business in Europe at the end of 2020.\n\nTechnically, how he does that?\n\nThanks to a web, mobile and desktop app built with ReactJS, NodeJS, Electron, MongoDB, Docker, AWS (+ with a lot of documentation & tests).\n\nCore mission\n\nPromote responsible and ecological constructions while removing tensions and omnipresence of administrative work for construction professionals (big subject, today people from the industry are not focused on the heart of their values and work).\n\nWhy you’d like to join our client’s team\n\nAdvantages of being a Lead Back-End Developer for our client:\n\n\n* They will be a small team in June (10 people, 5 developers), working hard, playing hard. 10 more people will join our client at the end of the year.\n\n* They love learning from others and surround themselves with multidisciplinary people. They also allow people to make periodic freelances missions for outside projects to gain more skills.\n\n* They have a big network of CTOs of the biggest European startups. They like to learn about their best practices.\n\n* They can give you a laptop and a comfy apartment in Paris in 2 weeks for a cheap price, 10 minutes away from your work.\n\n* They have many perks for their team (sports, hobbies, formations)\n\n* They are big enthusiasts about the impact of the architecture, urbanism and construction industry in the world (ecologically, socially, economically) and how the digital industry can help the professionals to have a much better role in it.\n\n\n\n\nYour mission as a Lead Back-End Developer:\n\nStarting in April / May / June 2020:\n\n\n* Enhance the NodeJS back-end features of the app and structure the first back-end team. If you like simple DevOps, they have many tasks in this field too.\n\n\n\n\nList of future challenges:\n\n\n* Manage a junior back-end developer\n\n* Include a real-time chat with advanced features\n\n* Translate the app in many languages\n\n* Migrate to TypeScript (or another JS typing tool)\n\n* Add smarter transactional emails service\n\n* Synchronize the app with external APIs, set a viable long-term architecture for this\n\n* Allow the users to synchronize the app data with external Cloud platforms (Google Drive, Dropbox, office 365) and databases\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Experience\n\nMindset\n\n\n* You have a lot of ambitions in tech and you’d like to find a good company to catalyze this ambition (real ambition, not just having good teammates & learning edge libraries).\n\n* Autonomous, rigorous, comfy with complex architectures, preferring simple micro-services instead of re-inventing the wheel\n\n* Strong will to push a company from early-stage to world development.\n\n\n\n\nTech\n\n\n* You are very comfy with NodeJS / MongoDB / APIs. You master deep details of the language/libraries (without being an absolute expert).\n\n\n\n\nThe +:\n\n\n* 3+ years working for startups\n\n* DevOps and CI knowledge (AWS, Netlify, Linux, Serverless)\n\n* Sensibility for architecture and construction\n\n\n

\nWe’re hiring Engineering Leads who are passionate about technology and education. As an Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for providing technical direction, personnel management, and hands-on software development. Most of our work is open source, even our primary product. We are also changing how teachers and students interact, whether in small groups or with tens of thousands of students in one course. Check out our online courses on Canvas Network.\n\nSo if you are strong leader, mentor, and you still like coding, let's talk. There are lots of interesting, complex, and challenging problems that will leverage your skills as well as your team; oh, and new things come up every day. Experience is helpful but raw skill is a must.\n\nThere will be a technical interview with lots of white board action (but no silly puzzles or trick questions). We may even have you code up a simple app to demonstrate your abilities.\n \n\nHERE'S WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:\n\n\n\n\n* Front-end development leaders with experience developing web scale single-page web apps, iOS and Android apps, and/or beautiful administration apps with modern web technology.\n\n* Back-end development leaders with experience building web scale services in a loosely coupled but highly integrated system. \n\n* We are a mixed stack and polyglot team with a deep commitment to quality and to using the right tech for each problem we solve.\n\n* We have integrated QA, and automation QA.\n\n* We use Ruby, Rails, JavaScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Linux, and our platform runs on AWS.\n\n\n\n\n

\nThe Lead Developer for our college readiness skills learning support system, called JUICE, will have a unique opportunity to own the MEAN technology stack and software development for an innovative tutorial learning system we’re creating for College for America (CfA)  at Southern New Hampshire University.  CfA is an online, radically affordable, competency-based program for underserved working adults. We’ve been nationally recognized for innovation and received a 4-year First in the World grant from the US Department of Education to design and develop a fully online competency-based learning system to support students’ foundational college readiness skills in an entirely new way. We’re completing the learning design phase now, we have a key technology partner on board for educational game design, and we’re looking for the right senior software engineer with great experience who is looking for an opportunity to own application development for this new learning technology. We work as a small, cross-functional team within a very friendly group of creative, smart educators at College for America. We work remotely as well as onsite here in the Manchester office.\n\nJUICE is being developed in a Cloud-based, modular architecture based on the MEAN stack (MongoDB-Express-AngularJS-Node.js) for delivery of the learning experiences.  JUICE technology makes ample use of open source software and low-initial investment services. JUICE is designed for longer-term growth within CfA following the research phase, and is also designed for extensibility and open sharing as part of the Department of Education’s First in The World (FITW) program goals. JUICE development includes an LTI-based integration with the CfA learning management system. The JUICE production environment will support a randomized control trial study, while continuing development for a full product launch following completion of the study.\n\nThe Lead Developer is the primary software engineer and oversees the work of key external partners for development of mini-games, widgets, or content authoring tools. The Lead Developer consults with a Senior Technology Advisor on strategy, software architecture, and system operations. The Senior Developer reports to the Deputy Director of JUICE and works in a small, fast-paced cross-functional team as a key partner in all aspects of designing and building, creating interactive learning content experiences, conducting efficacy research, and delivering the JUICE learning system. \n\nWorking remotely within North America is an option, but we cannot consider employees overseas, unfortunately.\n\nThis position is also posted on the Southern New Hampshire University website at https://snhu.peopleadmin.com/postings/14754. SNHU is a great college to work for, as shown by our high ranking in The Chronicle of Higher Education’s “Great Colleges to Work for 2014” survey!

Who are you?\n\nYou love using open source. You never want to build anything from scratch. You're not purist about product creation. You look at github as this wondrous treasure trove of free product waiting to get implemented and tailored and bettered by you and your customer. You think it is more important for people to use your product than to follow academic best practices. You like to iterate. You don't worry about having to work all night solving problems, only to realize that usage (or non usage) suggests you have to quickly iterate again. Iteration is the Zen of repetition. And its not boring. You don't feel like you wasted time, but rather learned lessons that will keep informing and inspiring you until the end of days. Then you feel refreshed and recharged to work another all nighter. You love work. You love looking at code. You love looking at people using your code. You want to help people. Thats why you build code. Thats why you want to innovate and disrupt something. Money is a secondary benefit.\nYou understand speed is important. Speed is everything. You’re fanatical about speed. You’re agile- yes, but hell you're ridiculously fast. You want in your heart of hearts to go the speed of light. The wasteland of broken companies and hearts is littered with great ideas and horrible execution. Riddled with myths and platitudes about building perfect product-market fit from research and focus groups. You know in your heart thats all bullshit. You understand success is constant iteration. Constant growth. Constant evolution. And a lot of hard work. You’re tireless. Sleep is an afterthought. We get a lot of it when we’re dead. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n$125,000 — $125,000/year\n \n\n#Equity\n1.0 - 5.0\n\n\n#Location\nNew York City

We are looking for a talented developer for the development of our site and application. We have a reasonable amount of traction, but we would like to reconstruct our site and app--to scale further. We will be participating in an upcoming accelarator, as we seek funding for the next level of growth. Please keep this in mind, when coming on board, because we would expect to have a developer that can be present, when we go through the programs. The most important component that investors seek--when deciding to fund--is team dynamics, in addition to the ability to execute on your ideas, because they feel that you have the necessary skill sets in your team. We have not received any funding, so we are hoping to find a CTO/developer/founder who would be willing for EQUITY until we receive our seed round. We are both graduate students and we are both %100 in this for the long haul, we would like to find a technical co-founder with the same passion. Our ideal candidate would be talented, ambtious and quite entrepreneurial. Experience level is flexable; what matters most is that you have an adaquate capability of acheiving our standard of performance. This is a humungous task, but this idea is revolutionary. Entrepreneurship is about being a pioneer, innovation, and bringing those ideas to reality. How’s that for transparency?\n-In-app collaborative messaging empowers the job seeker to interact with the entire hiring team, all inside of JobHive. This job post is closed and the position is probably filled. Please do not apply.
First and foremost, you love the idea of bringing art, music, design, and engineering together. You’re an experienced, talented full-stack or backend engineer with an impressive record in building complex applications. You have architect-level knowledge of large systems in which you played an integral role. You have been involved in products with multiple releases and shipped as an individual contributor or tech lead. You have likely participated in and have maintained a few open-source projects. You may have a slightly unhealthy obsession for beautiful code, best practices, and building inspired products.\n\nPreferably, you live in NYC, or alternately SF. That’s not a deal breaker, but desirable. You will have some opportunity to influence the technology we use to power our backend. You have expertise in some of the following:\n\nJavaScript (and frameworks such as Angular, Backbone or Ember), MEAN Stack, Python, Ruby, Java, PHP, Node.js, WordPress, Databases (MongoDB/noSQL/mySQL)\n\nAside from technical requirements, the most important thing we are looking for is someone who believes in the vision and is willing to work like crazy to help us achieve it. And in fact, we are completely open to creating a flexible role for the right fit – say if you’re under contract or can’t currently leave another position but would like to contribute to Patron, then we will figure out a role for you. \n\nFinally, in terms of compensation: no, it is not just equity. Once we find the right full-stack/backend engineer, we are going to raise our first round. We’ve already prepared for that process, and in fact have already received interest from several angels/VCs. We’re just waiting to find the right engineer to complete our core team. \n\nIf you’ve made it this far, and want to see more, watch our short video and see a few prototypes here: (desktop only, not for IE)\n\nwww.patron.gallery/info\n\nLove the vision and meet the above requirements? We want to hear from you. Reach out. \nNow. \n\n#Equity\n2.5 - 10.0\n\n\n#Location\nNew York City

neoEYED is a fully distributed team all around the globe that believes its workforce should go beyond the restrictions of a traditional office environment. We want a company free from any geographical confine, where employees can enjoy living in the place they like most, from the peaceful peaks of the Himalayans to the urban megalopolis of New York. \n\nOur objective is to "Kill the password!". We want to change the way users authenticate themselves through internet (and also in the real live) removing the frustration of using any password, key, badge, token or card but still keeping the level of security of their identity to the highest level. An authentication system that is easier than typing a password, but secure as a two-step authentication one. \n\nHowever, the neoEYED project it's not about just the development of novel application, it's an all-inclusive program that encloses a suite of components and facilitators to simplify, accelerate and widespread the migration to the newer architecture in order to actually reach the password-eradication objective. Something that can really change the web as we know it today. \n\nWe are ready to start the first phase of the program and complete the current prototype for the beta release, but we need the help of developers with these skills to move it faster: \n - Project management\n - Analysis\n - Ethical hacking\n - Cloud services architecture\n - Node.js framework\n - Mobile application development\n - Web/Mobile Security\n - Microsoft Azure\n - JSON messaging\n - Attitude to work on distributed team\n - Friendly and passionate about its work\n\nIf you want to join the cause as a contributor, a follower or a cofounder, even if you are just a junior, don't hesitate to contact us, we would be glad to discuss with you about neoEYED. \n\nCheers, \n\nneoEYED  \n\n#Salary and compensation\n$1,000 — $60,000/year\n \n\n#Equity\n0.0 - 15.0\n\n\n#Location\nEarth

We believe great people help make great products and companies. We’re a little different than most startups, but here’s what we would have to offer:\n\n• Peloton Street is transforming how capital flows into the commercial real estate industry. We are building a marketing/technology platform and are seeking a Product Designer (UI/UX expert) to join the team and take our user experience to the next level. In this role you will work with the leadership and full-stack engineer to implement a delightful mobile and web experience.\n\n• If you are looking for a part-time career/contract opportunity, where you are able to bring your software programming skills and use them to get a seat at the table alongside people to help shape the business strategy for an entrepreneurial finance company, then Peloton Street is the place for you.\n\n• Our site is being developed using the MEAN stack: MongoDB, Express.js, AngularJs, and Node.Js (http://mean.io/#!/), which knowledge of would be helpful.\n\n• Compensation is on an annualized basis; however, assignment will likely be a month-to-month contract. Equity paid in the form of Profits Interest, which would immediately vest upon completion of engagement (i.e. "cliff vesting"). \n\n#Salary and compensation\n$40,000 — $50,000/year\n \n\n#Equity\n1.0 - 2.0\n\n\n#Location\nNew York City
