Shopify is hiring a Remote Senior Lead Software Engineer

**Company Description**\n\nShopify and Shop are now permanently remote and we're working towards a future that is digital by default. That location you see above? Consider it merely an example of hundreds of potential locations across North America where Shopify is hiring. Learn more here: https://www.shopify.com/careers/work-anywhere\n\nShopify has focused the last decade on solving complex problems for entrepreneurs by making commerce seamless and accessible. Now, we want to do the same for customers through Shop.\n\nShop is on a mission to change how we shop. From the fastest checkout experience in Shop Pay to all-in-one order tracking and easy ways to find and shop local brands in app, Shop is making shopping better one step at a time for both shoppers and the merchants they buy from. Having launched less than a year ago, Shop is already one of the top 5 apps in North America and we're just getting started.\n\nWe're looking for a **Senior Lead Software Engineer** to join our team as we turn Shop into one of the most beloved products and brands in the world. We want shoppers to be able to develop meaningful connections with the brands they love, and we believe that Shop is the answer to helping foster those relationships with the powerhouse of Shopify merchants we love and support.\n\n**Job Description**\n\nAt Shop, Senior Lead Engineers (also referred to as Senior Staff Engineers) use their expertise and passion to multiply the overall output of their development team. As a senior technical leader, you’ll help drive the product vision to its implementation with impact across multiple teams. You will work with your team to design and build technically innovative solutions that empower all teams at Shop to build great products for buyers and sellers. You will build highly scalable, performant, and reliable products that benefit directly from the work you do. You will maintain a high bar for quality and lead and mentor other engineers. And of course, you’ll be hands-on in the code and contribute technically.\n\nIntrigued? We’re recruiting Senior Lead Software Engineers to join teams in any one of these disciplines. Based on your experience and interests, let us know which one you identify with most in your application!

\n\n**Back End Development**\n\nOn the Back End development side, we’re looking for engineers with a passion for solving tough problems with performant code to power Shop and Shopify APIs and data processing pipelines. Our teams deploy new code many times a day across Shop and Shopify backend systems, we are mindful of the impact our code has on performance, and our production scale is large. With billions of requests a day, we’re serving many millions of buyers and over 1 million sellers who will see your work within seconds – an important and incredibly rewarding responsibility. While Shop has its own services we have plenty of interactions and integrations with the Shopify core codebases. There is no red tape and we leverage this fact whenever it supports our goal of building high-quality products faster. Shopify is the largest Ruby on Rails application in the world and we're a big part of the Rails community.\n\n**Mobile Development (React Native, Android & iOS)**\n\nOn the Mobile development side, we’re looking for engineers with a passion for shipping performant, high-quality mobile consumer experiences. The Shop app is built using React Native for which we have developed sophisticated tooling and development pipelines that allow us to more easily build and maintain high-quality features at speed. We leverage seamless over-the-air updates to distribute internal testing of work in progress pull requests to thousands of staff users and ship production versions with server-side-controlled feature flags and end-user performance monitoring. This allows us to move at a fast pace with feedback loops and iterations in the collaboration between our development teams and the design and product management teams. These features combined with our many millions of daily users give opportunities to do early-stage testing and quickly learn how our technology and products perform and if we are bringing value to our users.\n\n**Front End Development**\n\nOn the Front End development, we’re looking for engineers who appreciate the blurred line between web and mobile development. We’ve come a long way at reducing the distinction between web and mobile development and will continue to leverage the best of these two disciplines to make development across both areas easier and more impactful. As a frontend engineer, you’ll work with web and mobile products in close collaboration with other software development teams, designers, product managers, and marketers to not only build incredible web products and marketing campaigns but also shipping those features in our mobile products. Besides Ruby on Rails for some web projects we use the latest web standards in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and modern technologies and frameworks like Typescript, React, GraphQL, Apollo, to develop great web and mobile applications that scale and perform well on all devices. We have well-established onboarding and growth programs to help engineers bridge the gap between web and mobile development. In fact, many of our mobile engineers come from a web development background and are now some of the most important contributors to the mobile products our users love and use daily.\n\n**Qualifications\nWhat you’ll do as a Senior Lead Engineer at Shop:**\n\n* Learn and grow constantly to feed your passion for self-improvement and make those around you better\n* Design and build highly available, resilient, and scalable platform primitives & API\n* Work through problems with your team, roll up your sleeves, form an opinion and advocate for engineering-specific roadmap items\n* Collaborate with other Shop and Shopify leaders, executives, and external partners to provide the best commerce experience for buyers and sellers.\n \n **Experience and skills that are important for success in this role:**\n\n* A proven track record of strong technical mentorship and influencing the technical direction for sizeable technical organizations\n* Experience building large scale, high throughput distributed systems and scaling web services, particularly those using and analyzing large amounts of data\n* High level of fluency with and experience using technologies and frameworks like (but not limited to) some of our most-used languages - Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, Java/JEE, Node.js, PHP, Python, React or React Native, Golang, Kubernetes - or deep experience with any object-oriented language and relevant transferrable technologies\n* A passion for efficiency and collaboration, with a history of establishing great relationships with UX and Product Management teams across time zones\n* A commitment and drive for quality, technical excellence and results\n* Curiosity and passion to constantly learn new things; Shop and Shopify change fast, and we need the people who work here to be able to change and learn fast too\n* Proficiency in systems thinking and systems design concepts like transactions, atomicity, idempotency, etc.\n* Raise the quality and speed (team efficiency) bar and move the platform into a position of maximum leverage\n* Use the right tool for the job, fix problems are the right level of abstraction and optimize to meet both functional and non-functional goals\n\n**Additional information**\n\nWe know that looking for a new role can be both exciting and time-consuming, and we truly appreciate your effort. Jane is an actual real live person (👋🏻) and is looking forward to learning more about you through your application. And remember, we want to know what you want to build and why you wan to build it at Shop, so please give us as much detail on this as you'd like in the answers on the next page. 👍 📖\n\nAt Shop, we are committed to building and fostering an environment where our employees feel included, valued, and heard. Our belief is that a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion enables us to truly make commerce better for everyone. We strongly encourage applications from Indigenous peoples, racialized people, people with disabilities, people from gender and sexually diverse communities and/or people with intersectional identities. Please take a look at our 2019 Sustainability Report to learn more about Shopify's commitments.\n\nInterested, but not ready to apply? \n\nJoin the Shopify Talent Community to learn more about us, while you polish up your resume: https://www.shopify.com/careers/2021\n\n\n\n#Location\nUnited States, Canada

Also an important part of the job is to interact with our designer to create pixel perfect UIs according to design specs.\n\n\n\nIn this role you will be working as part of a small and highly effective cross functional team, where most developers have a full stack understanding of the technical challenges.\n\n\n\nAs a main frontend developer in the team, you will be part of all major technical decisions, shaping the best frontend practices and creating new features for the web app by deploying code to production regularly.\n\n\n\n# What we are looking for\n\nWe are looking for a passionate React Engineer that wants to own and help shape our web application for the construction industry. You should have a good understanding of web technologies and the different challenges of web development, having previously developed several production applications. We expect a strong intimacy with JavaScript, as our application runs mainly in React, Redux and Typescript. Previous experience on that stack is mandatory. Another important point is having a deep understanding of developing with REST APIs, with a bonus of being willing to get your hands dirty also on improving backend APIs when needed.\n\n\n\nWe believe in a growing and learning mindset, where developers are ready to face new challenges, and learn new technologies when needed. Thus, having the right skills and a positive attitude to learning, is more important for us than the degree. A BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related subject is relevant, as we value an understanding of the fundamentals, but it’s not a prerequisite.\n\n\n\nWe define ourselves as an agile company, so being open for feedback and adapting to change is core to being a good fit to our team. Our company's working language is English, in which we expect all candidates to effectively communicate (written and spoken).\n\n\n\nIn this role, we also value interest in keeping up to date with the latest trends and to share knowledge about best frontend practices with the team.\n\n\n\nThis position is open for fully remote, but has a requirement of being **located in the EU**.\n\n\n\n# What we offer\n\nYou will be part of an amazing journey to transform the construction industry with a bold and caring team. Along this path, we will challenge each other, have difficult open conversations, and develop as we learn.\n\n\n\nIn addition to the above, we will also take care of you and provide you with the right challenges for growth. Some of our benefits:\n\n\n\n* Paid time off (25 vacation days per year)\n\n* Flexible working hours\n\n* Full remote possible\n\n* Share options program\n\n* Company gatherings twice a year (in person when possible again)\n\n\n\n# Location\n\n**EU**\n\n\n\n# Catenda\n\nCatenda is a Norwegian scale-up company with a global ambition to make the construction industry data-driven, with less waste and greater transparency along the way.\n\n\n\nOur company values are two, easy to remember: *Openness* and *Quality*.\n\n\n\nWe believe in open standards for all our customer data to achieve interoperability between applications, from inception, through design and construction onto the maintenance of a building. Another core belief is that our customers should have full control over their data: all data that goes in, can also be exported out.\n\n\n\nWe value quality of the code and the product by working as a tight and effective distributed development team, preferably asynchronously, often sharing screens to collaborate. Catenda has offices in Oslo and Bergen, composed by an international team of 10+ nationalities working remotely across the EU.\n\n\n\nOur solution, Bimsync, is a cloud-based collaboration platform, consisting of a web application, a mobile application and our APIs. Many companies across the world are using our products to build better airports, hospitals, stadiums, homes, tunnels and roads.\n\n\n\nOur technology stack runs 100% on AWS, using the most appropriate technology for the problem at hand. Our backend is mostly in Java and frontend in Javascript, using React, Typescript and React Native for our mobile app (iOS and Android).\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n$70,000 — $90,000/year\n\n\n#Location\nEu

This means you’ll need to understand the business context, customers, and technical constraints and their impact on design in addition to being a great designer. You’ll work closely with both the engineering and business teams to advocate for design in strategic product decisions and oversee the UI design implementation, so communication and collaboration will be key in this role.\n\nBecause you’ll own everything related to design, you’ll need to be well versed in customer research, so that you can share your concepts and get feedback from our users. You’ll translate our product’s mission and these customer research insights into an engaging and simple interface for our retrospective platform. In this role, your goal will be to continuously improve the user experience of our application, so that customers can easily adopt, understand, and interact with our product.\n\nDay-to-day, you’ll be responsible for creating mockups, user flows, sketches, wireframes, diagrams, customer journey maps, and other design artifacts needed to guide the product development process. Are you truly passionate about front-end development and hate to compromise on code quality because of clients and deadlines? Then read on!\n\nWe're a product-focused organization, which means that our codebase is our baby; it can never become too perfect and we continually push our ambitions upwards.\n\nWe're also the world's leading User Experience (UX) community - with over 1,5 million monthly visitors - and the biggest Course Platform for designers on the planet. Our claim to fame includes Forbes Magazine and we teach UX and Design to organizations like IBM and British Parliament.\n\nWe can offer you the freedom to shape your work schedule and the intangible and priceless feeling of having made an impact on the world. Believe us when we say that it can make your heart swell and your head giddy knowing that you’ve truly improved someone’s life, let alone hundreds of thousands of lives each year.\n\nWe'd love if you could help us take our front-end code to the next level.\n\n\n\n# Responsibilities\n You will join our team as our Lead Front-End Developer and your main responsibilities will be as follows:\n\n* Lead our front-end efforts (3 people) and make principal architectural decisions.\n* Communicate with our design team, write specifications for the components of the new [IDF Design System](http://s3.amazonaws.com/idfprofilepictures/hiring/IDF+Design+System+-+Proposal.pdf) and implement them.\n* Create tactful and experience-enhancing animations in collaboration with our design team.\n* Maintain and optimize existing code and solutions (Vanilla JS, Vue.js, blade template engine) to perfection.\n\n**A future-proof tech stack**\n\n* We support evergreen browsers only 🌲 (ES2015+, grid layout, etc).\n* We’re constantly refactoring our front-end code with the goal of reaching front-end heaven: \n1. Vue.js for its simplicity and flexibility that comes with a very small size.\n1. PostCSS to maximize the power of modern CSS.\n1. Webpack for perfect control over front-end assets.\n1. Cypress.io and Jest for automated tests.\n1. PWA with offline experience.\n* Back-end based on PHP7 (and always the latest version of the Laravel framework).\n* Mixed single-page (for the most interactive parts) and multi-page application.\n* We️ ❤️CI (Continuous Integration) and CD (Continuous Delivery) so we usually deploy a few releases per day: Zero downtime. Just a few buttons to push. No sweaty palms.\n* We care about Developer Experience (DX) of our codebase and tools. DX and DevOps is our middle name: git (github), docker, HTTP2, CDN, AWS and much more.\n* Is all code guilty until proven innocent? Even if not, we take testing to a new level: Unit tests, integration tests, end2end tests, TDD, etc.\n\n**Work conditions**\n* 100% remote full-time work with team trips 1-2 times a year in different places of the planet.\n* Flexible schedule with minimal number of meetings.\n* Team of true professionals and smooth onboarding process with a personal mentor.\n* A culture of learning and excellence:\n1. In our code reviews, we constructively reference [specific evergreen principles of programming](https://github.com/InteractionDesignFoundation/handbook/blob/master/library/front-end/clean-code-js.md) to supercharge our learning.\n1. We actively use a library of evergreen literature on[ front-end](http://github.com/InteractionDesignFoundation/handbook/blob/master/library/front-end/literature.md) and [back-end](http://github.com/InteractionDesignFoundation/handbook/blob/master/library/back-end/literature.md) development-related subjects.\n1. We believe that building timeless knowledge enables us to see through the hype and focus on what really matters.\n \n \n\n# Requirements\n* You have at least 5 years of experience working as a Front-End Developer.\n* You love to learn through doing. You’re ready to put in some hard work to expand your skills.\n* You prefer native Web APIs and functionality over alluring new frameworks - and you know how and when to use them.\n* You write testable code and love to solve architectural problems.\n* You speak and write acceptable English – not perfect English, just acceptable.\n* You are self-motivated and self-disciplined and thus work well in a flat hierarchy with lots of freedom.\n* You love to make a positive impact on the world and the lives of others.

We are looking for experienced front-end engineers to help design and build out our platform. We’re aiming to aggregate logistics data to enable customers to operate more efficiently and connect them with other logistics companies. We believe we’re on to something big, but to get there we’re working through end-to-end complex problems in a complex and old-fashioned domain.\nLogistics software is notorious for overloading users with information, which requires a masters in spaghetti science to understand. Complexity in enterprise software is unavoidable, but we believe the end user shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to manage it. This may seem simple, but logistics is filled with antiquated processes and users.\nIf you consider yourself an experienced designer magician who can bring fun to traditionally boring domain, or someone who can make up for lack of experience with passion, we’re looking for you.\n*A LITTLE ABOUT US*\nWe are not a typical startup. We're the skunkworks offshoot of an existing logistics company - we founded this startup to address logistics challenges we've faced since we started that company nearly 20 years ago. It turns out most of our competitors face the same problems, and the industry at large isn't making much progress to solve them. So the solutions we're developing are targeting real problems with real monetization potential. The founders have a good understanding of both the logistics industry and programming - so working with us isn't going to be an exercise in dealing with a pointy haired boss. We believe in solid development practices that avoid technical debt, and want to focus on product quality above all else. We also believe in independence and accountability - not looking to add 'babysitter' to our job descriptions.\nWe've been trying to tackle these problems in some fashion for many years, but development only really picked up in the last year.\n*WHAT YOU’LL NEED*\n-Angular & Firebase\n-Talent for creative and functional solutions to difficult problems\n-Strong computer science fundamentals\n-A stomach for working in a fast-paced and uncertain problem domain\n-Ability to ship quality code quickly\n*STACK*\n-Programming language - TypeScript\n-Front-end framework : Angular 6\n-Mobile and web application development platform - Firebase\n-NoSQL cloud database - Cloud Firestore\n-Unit tests - Karma & Jasmine\n-End-to-end tests - Protractor\nProject Type: Ongoing project\nOngoing project: Developer\nProject Stage: Fully Specified

\nScalable Path is looking for a Frontend React Developer for E-Commerce Analytics Product to join the team and work on a client project. This is a remote, full-time position, but the client is also open to part-time availability.\n\nThe pay rate for this role is from $30 - $50 USD per hour, depending on experience and capability.\n\nCLIENT COMPANY DESCRIPTION:\nThe client is a SaaS startup backed by an established company with 50+ employees and over $100 million in annual revenue. The new product you will be working with has a smaller team and is focused on providing analytics and insights to companies who sell their products in marketplaces like Amazon.com and Walmart.com.\n\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nThe client has an existing monolithic web application that is built using PostgreSQL, Python (Flask). The UX designer is using Framer and has already completed the new design for one of the dashboards.\n\nYour job will be to implement the new designs while simultaneously converting the dashboard from a monolithic page that is rendered on the server to a React/Redux-based page that consumes an API. For this reason, if you have experience with Python and Flask this would be a big bonus since you could help with the development of the API as well if needed.\n\nThe client uses Git for source control, Notion for task tracking, and Slack, Gmail, and Hangouts for communication.\n\nOther Responsibilities:\n- Collaborate with QA to write unit and integration tests for React/Redux.\n- Recommend the right JavaScript libraries for things like testing and charting\n- Assist with high-level architectural decisions keeping in mind scale and growth.\n- Deploy code to staging and production environments.\n- Positively contribute to a solid mission and be a critical voice within the team.\n\nRELATIONSHIPS - WHO YOU'LL BE WORKING WITH:\nYou will be reporting to the VP of Product and working closely with a UX Designer. There is also a full-stack developer, data scientist, and QA specialist on the team. There is an existing daily meeting at 10:00 am America/Chicago (-05:00) CDT.\n\nREQUIRED SKILLS:\n- Excellent written and spoken English\n- JavaScript (React and Redux)\n- HTML\n- CSS\n- Experience with data visualization libraries (such as D3.js or Plotly)\n- Experience with Automated Testing (Unit, Integration, and Performance)\n\nDESIRED (NICE-TO-HAVE) SKILLS:\n- Python (Flask)\n- PostgreSQL\n- Google Cloud Hosting\n\nSTART DATE:\nAs soon as possible.\n\nEXPECTED CONTRACT DURATION:\n2-4 months if working full-time (and potentially longer)\n\nNOTES:\nThe client prefers full-time but is open to candidates who are an excellent fit but may only available part-time.

Why you’d like to join our client’s team\n\nTips & Tricks for the Lead Front-End Engineer mission: \n\n\n* They will be a small team in June (10 people, 5 developers), working hard, playing hard. 10 more people will join our client at the end of the year.\n\n* They love learning from others and surround themselves with multidisciplinary people. They also allow people to make periodic freelances missions for outside projects to gain more skills.\n\n* They have a big network of CTOs of biggest Europeans startups. They like to learn about their best practices.\n\n* They can give you a laptop and a comfy apartment in Paris in 2 weeks for a cheap price, 10 minutes away from your work.\n\n* They have many perks for their team (sports, hobbies, formations)\n\n* They are big enthusiasts about the impact of the architecture, urbanism and construction industry in the world (ecologically, socially, economically) and how the digital industry can help the professionals to have a much better role in it.\n\n\n\n\n3. Your mission as a Lead Front-End Engineer\n\nStarting in April / May / June 2020:\n\n\n* Enhance the React front-end features of the app and structure the first front-end team. If you like mobile development, they have many tasks in this field too.\n\n\n\n\nList of future challenges:\n\n\n* Manage a junior front-end developer\n\n* Include a real-time chat with advanced features\n\n* Optimize app performances in JavaScript\n\n* Translate the app in many languages\n\n* Generate documents in front-end\n\n* Structure and build the design system with Storybook\n\n* Enhance the 3D Three.JS viewer (optional)\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Experience\n\nMindset\n\n\n* You have a lot of ambitions in tech and you'd like to find a good company to catalyze this ambition (real ambition, not just having good teammates & learning edge libraries).\n\n* Autonomous, rigorous, comfy with complex architectures, preferring simple micro-services instead of re-inventing the wheel.\n\n* Strong will to push a company from early stage to world development.\n\n\n\n\nTech\n\n\n* You are very comfy with React / ES6 / CSS. You master deep details of these languages / libraries (without being an absolute expert).\n\n\n\n\nThe +:\n\nWe will consider it a plus if you as Lead Front-End Engineer have:\n\n\n* JS or WebGL knowledge;\n\n* 3+ years working for startups;\n\n* Knowledge in UI /UX;\n\n* Mobile and Electron knowledge (XCode, stores);\n\n* Strong CSS and JavaScript knowledge (especially on mobiles);\n\n* Sensibility for architecture and construction.\n\n\n

\nHi there!\n\nWe're looking for a Platform Frontend Engineering Manager to lead our growing Frontend engineering team at Zapier. Interested in helping build the tool for partners and developers that powers automation for millions of professionals? Then read on…\n\nWe know applying for and taking on a new job at any company requires a leap of faith. We want you to feel comfortable and excited to apply at Zapier. To help share a bit more about life at Zapier, here are a few resources in addition to the job description that can give you an inside look at what life is like at Zapier. We hope you'll take the leap of faith and apply.\n\n\n* Our Commitment to Applicants\n\n* Culture and Values at Zapier\n\n* Zapier Guide to Remote Work\n\n* Zapier Code of Conduct\n\n* Diversity and Inclusivity at Zapier\n\n\n\n\nZapier is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace dedicated to pursuing and hiring a diverse workforce.\n\nEven though our job description may seem like we're looking for a specific candidate, the role inevitably ends up tailored to the person who applies and joins. Regardless of how well you feel you fit our description, we encourage you to apply if:\n\nYou're motivated by building effective engineering teams and are happy to roll up your sleeves and dive into code when needed.\n\nAbout You\n\nYou are a skilled engineer. You've got a strong background working in our stack (React, ES6, Node.js, etc.) -- even if you aren't a daily coder, you regularly exercise your coding muscles and try to be an asset on any technical context your team may need.\n\nYou are an effective team builder. This isn't your first rodeo. You know how to hire, train, and develop engineers from all backgrounds. You understand the benefits of building a diverse and inclusive engineering team. You've been in fast growing companies and know how to build, change, and adapt to the needs of a company as it grows.\n\nYou have excellent communication skills. You regularly work with engineers and other stakeholders from various disciplines, balancing engineering concerns, such as technical debt, with product concerns. Ideally, you find solutions that address both the team and user needs but if not, help build understanding around difficult decisions.\n\nYou can keep track of, prioritize, and lead multiple projects. We're a small team, and there's no shortage of things you could be doing in a day. You'll carve out time for functional projects and make sure they solve real problems the team faces -- ideally making development even easier.\n\n\nThings You Might Do\n\nZapier is a small, fast-growing, and remote-first company, so you'll likely get experience on many different projects across the organization. That said, here are some things you'll probably do:\n\n\n* Help the team build tools for partners and developers that come to our platform to create Apps that live on Zapier. Imagine Postman meets OpenAPI on steroids!\n\n* Develop effective ways to communicate, monitor, and lead your team through weekly one-on-one’s and team meetings.\n\n* Keep the leadership team informed on your team’s progress in ways that are easy and enjoyable to receive, like one-on-one's, update posts, and regular team hangouts.\n\n* Build rapport with each member of the Front End Engineering Team and support them through coaching and mentorship to help level up their skills.\n\n* Participate in code reviews, learning and spreading technical knowledge throughout Zapier -- moving knowledge to documentation where appropriate.\n\n* Occasionally dive into the code; fixing bugs, improving developer experience, smoothing edges -- sometimes even spiking out small proofs of concept.\n\n* Collaborate across various disciplines (Product Managers, Designers, Researchers) to help set technical roadmaps that will achieve business goals through engineering best practices.\n\n* Actively recruit, onboard, and train new engineers at Zapier. This might involve tweaking the skills portions of interviews, or writing better documentation.\n\n* As part of our All Hands Support initiative, help customers have the best experience with Zapier as possible.\n\n\n

\nFull Job Description Available Here:\n\nhttps://jobs.careerbeacon.com/details/lead-frontend-engineer-reactredux/951059?utm_source=stackoverflow\n\n\nAt Manifold, we’re an ambitious and well-funded startup, making it compelling for developers like you to break your deployments free from the closed ecosystems of cloud providers. We connect applications, wherever they are hosted, to independent cloud services made by developers who care.\n\nWe are looking for an experienced, collaborative front-end engineer to inspire us, teach us, and bring our React architecture and coding forward.\n\nOur partially distributed engineering team is fun-loving, knowledgeable, and extremely productive. We’re organized to let you explore and grow a variety of skills and capabilities, with many opportunities to make a significant impact. Many of us have strong ties to the open-source world, and have experience building tools at companies like Heroku, Red Hat, and Canonical.\n\nWe value diversity and supporting a distributed culture. Gender diversity is currently about one quarter. About half of the company work outside of the home Halifax, Canada office, including the product and engineering leaders.\n\n\nWhat you'll do\n\n\n* Help lead a friendly, supportive engineering culture that encourages you and the entire company to improve as engineers, teams, and people.\n\n* Be a model and mentor for building well-architected, performant, well-tested, and understandable code.\n\n* Prevent and manage technical debt. Help us find the right corners to cut for speed, and the right problems to invest in for maintainability.\n\n* Be passionate about our mission, and help us imagine Manifold’s future. Work closely with design and product in short design-first iteration.\n\n* Be curious. Learn, practice, share, and improve our knowledge and best practices in technologies, security, engineering, design and collaboration.\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat you'll need\n\n\n* Strong communication skills with a team centric approach to discussion and decision making. Empathy and respect for others.\n\n* Experience deploying and operating server-side code that could have used a service like Manifold.\n\n* Expertise in Javascript, REST APIs, React and managing state. Knowledge of Redux, Redux-Saga, GraphQL, and other parts of the React ecosystem is also very valuable.\n\n* Full command of Git, GitHub, the terminal, continuous deployment and integration, and other modern fundamentals.\n\n* Experience working in a distributed team is very nice to have.\n\n* Our backend and CLI are written in Go; Go experience is nice to have.\n\n\n\n\n\nWe're looking for\n\n\n* JavaScript \n\n* React \n\n* Technical Leadership \n\n* Guidance and mentorship\n\n\n\n\n\nA little bit about us\nAt Manifold, we help developers discover and use innovative tools and technologies; so you can focus on building, not managing, your applications. Each new cloud service we use today introduces complexity in the form of another bill, account to manage, credential to secure, and code to deploy.\n\nManifold allows you to build and offer cloud services to developers without having to worry about billing, identity, and credential distribution (An example of one such service: JawsDB).\n\nWe're a small, remote-friendly venture-backed company based in Halifax, Canada with teams in Toronto and San Francisco. With a shared passion for making developers lives easier and our backgrounds reflect that, having worked at the likes of Red Hat, Heroku, and Salesforce.\n\n\nAre you interested?\nWe believe in having people work from where they are most productive. If that happens to be in our offices in Halifax, Canada, or in San Francisco, welcome! We'd love to have you. If you are remote, you are also welcome! We strongly prefer candidates who are in a timezone roughly within 4 hours of the Eastern time zone.\n\nWe offer competitive compensation, equity opportunities, and excellent health care options, with additional perks such as a yearly professional development allowance.\n\nPlease apply here, or by emailing [email protected]\n\n\nApply now:\n\nhttps://jobs.careerbeacon.com/apply/951059?utm_source=stackoverflow

\nWe're looking to hire a senior front end developer, with experience of, or interest in ReactJS to work mostly on new projects here in Cardiff. We're a fast growing tech startup, with a great work life balance and a real interest in helping you develop your career. We're open to remote and flexible working (perhaps you'd like to do 4 days a week, or you need to be away for nursery pickup at 3.30).\n\nSpec your own development machine, and work in a company that takes tech seriously and likes to do it well.\n\nYou'll be comfortable taking a lead on architecture and technology choices, and enjoy working with other great developers.\n\nYour main duties will include\n\n\n* Working on a small team designing and implementing our new Shopify integration. This will consume our backend APIs, and be built in React JS. You will take the lead on architectural and other standards.\n\n\n\n\nWe’d like someone who:\n\n\n* Takes the initiative- we’re a small company still, so we’ll expect you to take ownership of whatever you work on.\n\n* Wants to grow with us. As we continue to grow, you’ll be called on to take more responsibility, mentor others and lead teams\n\n* Likes automation. Our tech team is currently 3, and we process and print over a million items a month. We manage this by automating aggressively.\n\n\n\n\nExperience that would be useful (though we’re open minded)\n\n\n* React JS - design and coding experience. Or experience in another front-end framework such as Angular\n\n* Should know your way around HTML, CSS etc\n\n* Shopify integrations/apps\n\n* Experience in SPAs and Progressive Web Apps\n\n* We use lots of other stuff too- but if you’re the right candidate, you’ll enjoy picking up any new tools or frameworks you don’t already know\n\n\n\n\nWhat we offer\n\n\n* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays\n\n* Training, mentoring and a supportive work environment\n\n* Open to some remote working\n\n* Flexi-time\n\n\n\n\nWe believe in equal opportunity and value diversity. We believe that varied perspectives, experiences and backgrounds lead to a workplace that's better for everyone.

\nJoin us and become a part of history as together we change the face of e-commerce for digital content and preserve the ability of authors to earn a living writing. We are looking for a smart, creative front web developer with a strong design sense to complement the existing team. \n\nThis role will complement the rest of the founding team who has already built the back-end infrastructure and first beta version of the website. As we prepare to come out of beta and traffic is climbing, we now need an updated UI to match.\n\nThe current beta site has been developed in Ruby-on-Rails. We are migrating the core code to Elixir / Phoenix. We're looking to move to a ReactJS front end for the main UI, sporting responsive design and to share code with our parallel React Native app development efforts.\n\nHighlights\n\n\n* Get in on the ground floor and become an owner of a new, industry-transforming company.\n\n* Consult with former kayak.com founding employee & Chief Architect Bill O'Donnell, who is a technical advisor to the company.\n\n* Create your own solutions to challenging technical problems.\n\n* Choose the tools that will be used by you and your colleagues.\n\n* Lead and build the look and feel of an upcoming major e-commerce site.\n\n* Make mistakes, disrupt the status quo, and help us create the engineering culture that you would like -- build your own dream job!\n\n\n\n\nIf hired, you will receive a hefty equity grant relative to the position. You will also earn direct payment in the form of a revenue share on every dollar in revenue we generate directly and across our  1,000+ distribution partners. Your pay will increase as our gross revenue increases, until those rev-share pay levels reach your target salary.\n\nWe are located in the growing Lebanon/Hanover, NH tech region around Dartmouth and the Lebanon airport, but during our launch phase, we expect candidates to work from home, wherever that may be. We will pay for relocation, should that become necessary in the future.\n\nPart Time / Full Time\n\nWe're looking for someone who ultimately wants a full time position with us, but if you need a transitional period working for Scribl part time while you continue to do other work, we fully support that. \n\nSkills & Requirements\n\nNOTE: Your cover letter matters to us, maybe more than your resume! We want to know why you are interested in Scribl. Please read this section and write it accordingly.\n\nWe want you if you are:\n\n\n* Fun, kind, fast, and flexible\n\n* A good communicator\n\n* Possessed of a strong sense for minimalist and elegant design, with a dash of fun\n\n* Passionate about digital content, especially ebooks and audiobooks\n\n\n\n\nAnd have strong technical experience with:\n\n\n* ReactJS (or other deep JavaScript experience)\n\n* HTML5 and Responsive Design\n\n* SEO\n\n* Writing high-quality, testable, and maintainable JS code\n\n* E-commerce and security best practices\n\n* Adobe or other graphic design tools to support your UI work\n\n\n\n\nIf you have some experience with these, that's a plus, but it's not required:\n\n\n* Ruby-on-Rails or Elixir/Phoenix to work with our existing system and back-end\n\n* Familiarity with AWS hosting and OpsWorks\n\n* NGINX, Linux Ubuntu, and Docker \n\n* Full-stack capabilities\n\n* Media presentation of EPUB and stream audio\n\n* Podcasting\n\n* Mobile and Windows UWP development in React Native or Xamarin\n\n* Strong team-building and project management record\n\n* Leadership\n\n\n\n\nYou will be responsible to:\n\n\n* Work on your own and with other developers who are adding capabilities on the back-end and developing mobile apps to accompany our ebook and audiobook store\n\n* Build and support tight integration between the front end UI, our backend database, and our apps so the user experience is preserved regardless of how the user accesses our content\n\n* Nurture a healthy engineering culture\n\n\n\n\nIt is important that you either have or are willing to gain an appreciation for digital content creators -- authors and artists. Our success is dependent on our ability to help them prosper and want that perspective to be shared by everyone on our team. Please describe your interest in Scribl, CrowdPricing, ebooks, or authors in your cover letter. The resume should show you have the skills. The cover letter is what tells us why you may be the right person for the position.

\nWe like to build stuff… sometimes complicated stuff… for Art Galleries, Non-Profits and Charities. \n\nWe’re a bootstrapped startup that has grown rapidly (from 10 to over 30 so far) based solely on the quality of the work we’ve been producing and we’re on the lookout for a confident and ambitious Senior/Lead Front End Javascript Engineer (Angular JS) to join our team.\n\nWe do things a little differently, basing all our solutions on open source products, having flexible working hours and a real team mentality. Our work covers web design, app development and branding for Charities, Art Galleries and Non-profit organisations across the country. Our clients include Charities such as Wikimedia, Amnesty and Farm Africa, galleries such as the Photographers Gallery and Craft Central but we’ve got a long client list that includes other companies, trade associations and government bodies.\n\nYour principle focus will be on developing Angular JS single page applications as part of the CiviCRM and Drupal frameworks for the CiviHR project (https://civihr.org/) but there's a lot going on at Compucorp so expect to be exposed to other technologies too! \n\nCiviHR is an ambitious project to develop a fully featured HR application designed for Non-Profit and Charitable organisations worldwide. It's based on the Drupal and CiviCRM frameworks and has been in development for around 24 months. We recently reached an exciting milestone and opened up for public beta.\n\nWe're looking for someone who can join a great team in mid-flight, have instant results and can help us to create a great product for Charities around the world.

\nDo you use the internet?  Do you eat food?  If so, you know a lot about our product already!  Come join our product team at RelayFoods.com, and help build the future of groceries.  We are the leading online grocery store in the Mid-Atlantic region, and take pride in an approach that prioritizes healthy food and supports local farmers and economies.  As part of the product team, you’ll be an integral part of every aspect of our business, from talking to and building features for our great customers to building internal apps and processes for our marketing, operations, and merchandising departments.  We are a remote team with a great culture, and are all passionate about building the absolute best grocery experience possible.\n\nWe're specifically looking for an experienced frontend developer to join our small, but mighty product team.  As part of the team, you’ll be responsible for being a thought leader and core architect for our frontend systems.  As such, you should have strong opinions about the strengths and weaknesses of different javascript frameworks, and a passion for building well-thought out and maintainable code.  That said, we are a small team that firmly believes in the 'always be shipping' mentality, so you should be pragmatic about the tradeoffs inherent in a very iterative development process.\n\nThe interfaces and features of the products we build are well regarded in the industry, and the result of a relentless focus on our customers' needs.  Much of the codebase has been built with backbone and marionette, while several products are built with meteor.  We even have a number of node based backend services created as lightweight event driven AWS Lambda functions.\n\nOur major challenge at the moment, and what we will specifically be looking for you to help address, is the speed and reliability of our interfaces.  We have begun experimenting with lightweight, reactive view layers such as react, efficient data fetching layers such as falcor, and better css/less organization such as BEM, but need someone who can truly lead the transition to these technologies and/or others that we've yet to experiment with.  If you do not have deep knowledge about this type of frontend development, then this particular role is probably not the best fit (though, stay tuned for others in the future!).\n\nResponsibilities\n\n\n* Support and build upon the existing UI frameworks that power our user experience.\n\n* Be a thought leader and challenge assumptions as we transition towards a more reactive set of interfaces\n\n* Lead efforts to significantly increase performance and reliability of our frontend systems\n\n* Help us think through and implement our hybrid mobile strategy (check out our responsive mobile site!)\n\n* Oversee the transition to a better set of testing tools/processes\n\n* Research, experiment with, and report on new technologies to achieve our goals\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\nWe have always been a remote team, and as such, have created processes and tools that allow us to do so in fairly frictionless way.  I think you'll find that our team is more tight knit than most in-person teams you'll meet.  That said, we are not currently set up to handle far flung employees (think 'other side of the globe') - sorry!  We are headquartered in Charlottesville VA, but have offices in Richmond VA and Washington D.C., and team members in Atlanta GA, Greenville SC, and Indianapolis IN.\n\nHow to Apply\n\nWe don't care whether it's through a cover letter, resume, personal site, github repo, message in a bottle, etc., but we primarily want to see:\n\n\n* Evidence of your passion for products and technologies, bonus points if in a food related area\n\n* Evidence of your experience with and deep knowledge around reactive/performant frontend systems\n\n* The name of your favorite dessert, because 1) we care and 2) we want to know that you’re not a robot :)\n\n\n\n\nThere are quite a number of frontend developers these days, and our team is small / oversees the hiring process, so please respect our time by not applying if you don't meet the criteria.  Thanks!

\nLove CSS architecture and JS?  Help fix the legal industry!\n\nThe way legal transactions are done is filled with inefficiencies, which leads to ridiculously high legal fees. We're fixing this by building software that automates and streamlines the process.\n\nWe're profitable and growing sustainably. We're one of the most popular ways for high-growth technology startups to incorporate. Y Combinator and 500 Startups both use our software to handle their investment paperwork. Our product is used by tons of top tier startups and investors.\n\nWe're a quiet leader in the legal technology space - we're working on a ton of really innovative software (far beyond what we've released publicly).  If you are interested in changing the legal industry, this is arguably the best place to be.\n\nNotes on our stack and processes:\n\n\n* About half of our development is on the front-end, on large-scale SPAs.\n\n* We are continually looking for ways to improve our CSS architecture.\n\n* Our front-end is mostly in Backbone, but we are moving toward Ember.\n\n* We only support modern browsers.\n\n* We use CI extensively for linting, tests, visual diffs, and deployment.\n\n* Our backend is mostly in Ruby on Rails, with some Scala and Go as well.\n\n* We're not religious about any particular technology - we believe in using the right tool for a given problem.\n\n\n\n\nThis is a great fit if you want to work:\n\n\n* ... at a product-driven company bringing an old-fashioned industry into the future\n\n* ... on a complex product, with a ton of engineering challenges\n\n* ... on a well-loved product with a lot of usage and visibility in the startup community\n\n* ... in a company that strongly values good software development practices\n\n* ... at a financially sound company\n\n* ... with bright people who are extremely passionate about their work\n\n* ... where you'll be a key early software engineer\n\n\n\n\nThis position can be either co-located or remote (completely up to you). If you're co-located, you can have your office (if you want). We're located in Burlingame, California - within walking / biking distance of Millbrae Caltrain / BART.\n\nWe are only looking directly for full-time employees - we are absolutely not interested in agencies, contractors, or recruiters.

We're looking for a senior level developer to lead our front-end team.\n\nYou will be responsible for providing leadership on front-end development decisions, pushing the team to always be improving, and mentoring more junior staff.\n\nYou should be at home writing vanilla javascript and have strong opinions on js libraries/frameworks, css pre-processors and things like Bootstrap, Foundation, Bourbon, etc.\n\nIdeally, you're super comfortable taking a static design PSD and bringing it to life with good, clean markup, making it interactive with lightweight javascript and then integrating it into a ruby on rails app.\n\nIf that sounds like you, get in touch! \n\n#Salary and compensation\n$95,000 — $125,000/year\n \n\n#Equity\n0.0 - 1.0\n\n\n#Location\nDallas
