As a  **Customer Success Engineer** you will be responsible to assess the nature of product or service issues and resolve support problems for customers and partners through support tickets, live chat, and occasional voice calls. As one of our Customer Success Engineers, you are our front line; when our customers think of how great Platform.sh is, they think of you.\n\n# Responsibilities\n **In a given day you might:**\n\n* Troubleshoot issues pertaining to the underlying infrastructure running customer applications.\n* Diagnose, debug, and document issues in both applications and systems.\n* Deploy and configure cloud infrastructure resources.\n* Troubleshoot, reproduce, and report bugs.\n* Become a product expert and work toward improving our customer facing documentation.\n* Participate in limited on-call shifts, providing timely responses to high priority tickets and incidents.\n* Work under limited supervision with considerable latitude for personal initiative.\n* Respond to customer inquiries through our ticketing solution, ZenDesk.\n* Participate in training teammates. \n\n# Requirements\n**Minimum Qualifications**\n\n* 3+ years combined of:\n* Web development using PHP, Python, Ruby, or Go.\n* Linux system administration.\n* Experience using git for version control.\n* Understanding of DNS as well as TLS and encryption.\n* Exceptional communication skills to provide clear and empathetic customer support.\n* This role is also open to those willing to work Saturdays and Sundays instead of the usual Mondays to Fridays. \n\n**Preferred Qualifications**\n\n* Experience with Magento, Symfony, TYPO3, and/or Drupal.\n* Understanding of CDNs or Varnish and web caching strategies.\n* Familiarity with IaaS solutions, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Compute Engine.\n* Conversant in containerization technologies and techniques.\n* Knowledge of nginx, Galera, GlusterFS, and Puppet.\n* Sound Like a Good Fit? While customers [love our product](https://www.helpscout.net/customers/), it means nothing if they can't access our services with great performance.\n\n# Responsibilities\n **Technologies we work with**\n\n* AWS, Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS), Chef, Git/Github, RabbitMQ, AWS Aurora MySQL & PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Jenkins, Docker/Compose, New Relic, Sensu, PagerDuty, Ruby, Go, Python, Java, and PHP.\n\n**About the role**\n\n* You’ll be working on a small team of six (that includes one of our co-founders) and in collaboration with our software developers to build, deploy, secure, manage, and optimize highly-available, fault-tolerant, and horizontally scalable systems in AWS.\n* Ideally, we are looking to add more coverage to the(UTC-5) timezone, but we are open to candidate in UTC-6,-7, or-8 if you are willing to time shift to accommodate the preferred timezone.\n* Our engineering teams communicate mostly via Slack and are committed to [remote, agile development](https://www.helpscout.net/blog/agile-remote-teams/). When your code is ready, you’ll create and send a pull request with test cases and tag your team for review. \n* We are investing heavily in continuous integration and delivery and strive to uphold immutable infrastructure standards. \n* You’ll work autonomously for the most part and we trust you to get work done when/where you can be productive.\n* In order to ensure excellent service to our customers, you will be part of our rotating on-call team.\n\n**A note about on-call**\n\n* The 5-week rotation follows this format: 1 week on backup on-call(which rarely sees much action), 1 week of being on-call, followed by a 3 week hiatus from on-call.\n* Our on-call shift is not particularly wearisome, but as a thank you for carrying the weight for the week, the day following your shift is a free day off if you want to take it. We want you happy, healthy and well-rested! \n\n# Requirements\n* You have a deep understanding of what it takes to run SaaS at scale and have a solid understanding of Linux systems and networking; from kernel to shell, system libraries, file systems and client-server protocols.\n* You have a growth mindset, a passion for learning, and are willing to lean into discomfort for the good of our customers and product. \n* You are proficient and comfortable in the AWS ecosystem.\n* Security engineering is near and dear to your heart; you build with and advocate for a security mindset when implementing new features and infrastructure.\n* You are adept at automating service and infrastructure configuration via industry standard tools(E.g.
