We are the global leader in WordPress security, protecting over 3 million websites.\n\nAre you excited about working for a technology company that is securing the web? Are you looking for full-time, flexible hours* working remotely from anywhere in the UK, Canada, United States, Australia, or New Zealand? If so, this may be your dream job!\n\n*Required core hours of 10am - 2pm Pacific Time\n\n\n\n# Responsibilities\n This role is part of our QA team and will work closely with our Customer Support team to help resolve technical customer issues that require further investigation. In this role, you will:\n\n* Acquire and maintain an excellent technical understanding of Wordfence and other Defiant products.\n* Work directly with our development and customer service teams to design and execute test strategies and test cases. This is a hands-on role that requires both defining testing needs and performing testing tasks.\n* Provide 2nd tier customer support as needed. You will use your in-depth knowledge of our products gained through testing to help our customer support team resolve difficult cases. This role will work directly with our customers via email support to investigate technical problems and find solutions.\n\n**Company Culture**\n\nYou'll work with a talented and highly-motivated team that is friendly, fast-moving, self-managing, and highly capable with a sense of humor. Our team's family time is important; we won't typically require long hours when we can avoid it, which is almost always. Our entire team works remotely using Slack for casual interaction, so you can live practically anywhere in the World if you have an Internet connection. There's no micro-management here—we trust that you will see tasks through to completion and communicate with your fellow team members when needed or ask for help when needed.\n\nAt Defiant, ‘trust’ is the attribute we value most highly among our team members. We need to know that you can own testing on various products, communicate clearly with our customers, and see tasks to completion with superb attention to detail. \n\n# Requirements\n* Good understanding of WordPress as a CMS and PHP application.\n* General knowledge of Internet protocols, web tools, programming languages and security infrastructures.\n* Problem solving and critical thinking. Ability to perform advanced troubleshooting and guide customers through the same. Ability to search information and evaluate it independently, or present hypotheses to coworkers for input.\n* Experience using bug tracking systems like Fogbugz/Manuscript or similar and experience with the bug workflow, project milestones and interacting with team members via the bug tracking system.\n* Experience with git and github and clear understanding of the github workflow.\n* Ability to read PHP code. This is not a developer position but being able to locate issues in code and reference line numbers in bug reports is extremely helpful.\n* Ability to read and write regular expressions.\n* Ability to read and write SQL.\n* Ability to write test cases.\n* Knowledge of web server platforms like Apache, Nginx and similar is helpful.\n* Must be very comfortable using Linux and comfortable with Linux shell commands and getting around in Linux, including running command line utilities and applications.\n* Understanding of common web vulnerabilities highly favorable.\n* Ability to run command line proof of concept exploits against a web application to test whether it is vulnerable is a requirement.\n* Fast and reliable internet connection\n* A Big Plus If You Have:\n * A keen interest in infosec. Credentials like Security+, CISSP or pen-testing certifications.\n * IPv4 and IPv6, TCP/UDP and general TCP/IP networking knowledge.\n * Experience with pen testing tools like BURP Suite, nmap, Kali, sqlmap and others.\n * Ability to write proof of concept exploits in PHP to test PHP applications.\n\n**Hiring Process**\n\n1. Please fill in the form provided in the application. The hiring team will look at this first. The way you answer our form will determine if your application moves to the next step.\n2. Top candidates who appear to have the right skills from the initial application will be sent a more detailed Assessment Test to further assess skills.\n3. Participate in a series of phone interviews.\n4. All contracts and offers of employment are contingent on successful completion of a background check. The results of the background check are considered as they relate to the position and do not automatically disqualify someone from a contract or employment with the company.\n5. Join our fast-paced team and start testing our products and supporting Defiant customers. All positions require a trial period of approximately 2-3 weeks with a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week. You will be paid for this short-term contract, and it will be used to evaluate whether both parties want to pursue an ongoing, regular employment relationship. \n\n#Salary\n$70,000\n\n\n#Location\n- UK, Canada, United States, Australia, or New Zealand

As komoot’s next backend engineer, you know the importance of self-healing and scaling systems, you build your software stack accordingly—and you always find simple solutions to complex problems.\n**Your key responsibilities**\n- Implement new features closely together with our web and mobile developers, designers, copywriters and product managers.\n- Keep our system state-of-the-art and resilient as load and features increase.\n- Join the challenge of operating an auto-scaling fleet of 50+ EC2 instances, SQS, DynamoDb, Lambda, Kinesis and more, all within the AWS universe.\n- Build new and improve existing micro-services, primarily in Java or Kotlin.\n**Why you will love it**\n- You’ll work on a global product that inspires millions of users.\n- You’ll get system access on your first day as we know you are a smart and responsible engineer.\n- You’ll take ownership over your projects from day one (from concept to implementation; testing, deployment and monitoring).\n- You’ll be offered ample opportunity to consistently improve your skills and stay up-to-date with the latest technologies.\n- You’ll work with komoot’s entire backend team on the full system: You’ll constantly contribute to the big picture rather than just a subsystem\n- We believe good ideas count more than hierarchies.\n- You’ll work together with enthusiastic engineers, hikers and cyclists.\n- We let you work from wherever you want, be it a beach, the mountains, our headquarters in Potsdam or anywhere that lies between the time zones UTC-1 and UTC+3\n**You will be successful in this position if you**\n- Are highly self-driven, responsible and keen to learn and improve.\n- Know your toolkit: git, ssh, bash, junit, jenkins, docker and AWS.\n- Have deep experience (4+ years) in developing distributed and resilient web applications.\n- Are fluent in Kotlin or Java and interested in other languages, such as Python or JavaScript.\n- Know which pattern, framework and infrastructure can best solve your problem.\n- Live and breathe DevOps and believe in automated testing, infrastructure as code, immutable infrastructure, continuous deployment, monitoring and open communication\n**Sound like you?**\nThen send us the following:\n- Your CV\n- Why you are interested in working at komoot\n- Examples of your work (e.g. GitHub, PDFs, Slideshare, etc.)\n- A little extra information about you, be it your OpenStreetMap contributions, your Twitter, Tumblr or Flickr profile, or your website. We want to see what you’re interested in!

\nAre you ready to write code for millions of customers? Would you like to point to customer-facing features on one of the most popular websites in the world and say, “I built and shipped that” after your first few weeks on the job? As a Software Developer on the Amazon Answers team you will envision and create features that touch every Amazon customer and transform the online shopping experience.\n \n Who you’ll work with: The Amazon Answers team is a small, scrappy team that employs lean agile development. We work in two-week iterations and ship code daily. We hate building stuff that customers don’t want, so before we invest in large production systems we quickly validate our hypotheses with small tests. We are incredibly close to customers: as an engineer on our team, you will regularly call customers to learn more about their experiences with our program. When we do build out systems for scale, they must handle a blistering number of transactions per second. We take pride in owning our entire code stack, from how fast our templates render in the customer’s browser through to our service layer and down to the underlying data model. We are a diverse team from a variety of backgrounds and interests who love dreaming up, validating, and shipping features that deliver big customer impact.\n \n The problems you’ll work on: You will build software that engages the Amazon community to get answers to customer product questions as quickly as possible.
