BranchLabs is hiring a Remote Senior Wordpress Developer

## About BranchLabs\n\nBranchLabs is a rapidly growing fully remote eCommerce consultancy. We provide eCommerce strategy, design, and implementation services for our clients. Our clients are generally vertically integrated, branded B2C businesses. We help them sell more online, show their brand in the best light, and optimize their backend eCommerce processes.\n\nOur reputation is built on delivering results. We take pride in the work we produce. The products we deliver are high quality inside and out, and they help our clients capitalize on real opportunities. We work closely with stakeholders on our clients’ marketing teams, combining their understanding of their customers with our understanding of all things eCommerce. Together, we craft solutions that work for our clients and their customers.\n\n## Some Notes on Culture\n\nHere are some of our values. They’re always being refined based on what works and what doesn’t.\n\n- We value clear, concise communication.\n- You can only produce high quality work if you have a clear understanding of the problem.\n- Context—understanding our clients and their customers—empowers individual contributors to find better solutions.\n- Free up time for interesting problems by automating repeatable tasks and learning your tools inside and out.\n- No process for process’ sake. No meetings for meetings’ sake. But there *is* a place for both.\n- Build or use tools to provide predictability and eliminate boring work.\n- Individual productivity is hugely dependent on a minimally distracting, supportive environment.\n\n## Your Day-to-day\n\nThis is a hands-on, fully-remote programming position. You’ll be working on WordPress/WooCommerce-powered eCommerce sites primarily, with opportunities to work on other eCommerce platforms like Shopify. The core technologies you’ll be working with are PHP, HTML, CSS, and JS.\n\nOur projects are generally focused around making large, material changes to our clients’ sites or designing and developing new sites from the ground up. You'll work closely with our project managers and other developers to design, develop and deploy features and updates that best serve our clients and their customers.\n\nWe have quite a bit of work booked for the next few months, so an ideal applicant will be ready to hit the ground running. Despite the amount of work we have, we strive to minimize context switching—if you’re on a project, you shouldn’t expect to be bombarded with unrelated tweaks on other projects here and there.\n\n## Technical Responsibilities\n\nWhen you start, this is what you can expect to work on.\n\n- Full WooCommerce site development\n- Designing architecture, and implementing features for existing eCommerce stores\n- Implementing designs in CSS/HTML/JS\n- Configuring WordPress-related middleware services, Redis, Memcached, Varnish, Solr, etc.\n- Integrating with 3rd party APIs\n\n## Qualifications\n\nThese are the must haves.\n\n- 4–8+ years of WordPress experience\n- Deep understanding of WordPress best practices\n- Hands-on programming experience with WooCommerce\n- Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JS\n- Git experience\n\n## Ideal Qualifications\n\nIf you fulfill the above *and* have experience with a few of the below, definitely get in touch.\n\n- Hands-on programming experience with headless eCommerce\n- Enterprise software development\n- Strong UX/UI chops\n- Opinionated about design—visual and code\n- A portfolio of personal projects (not necessarily code related) \n\nBe sure to mention the words **CHALK JAR CACTUS** when applying to show you read the job post completely. This is a beta feature to avoid spam applicants.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n$70,000 — $120,000/year\n\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

# How do you apply?\n\nSend a cover letter and a resume to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) with the subject line, “Senior WordPress Developer”. If it looks good, we’ll be in touch to kick things off.\n\nOur interview process is streamlined, and consists of the following—\n\n1. Short email exchange to dive into technical details of a recent project you worked on.\n2. Short 30–60 minute phone call so we can both get to know each other better and dive into some technical topics.\n3. A coding challenge designed to take 2–4 hours total, to be completed at your leisure and sent back for review.\n4. Final 30 minute discussion and a decision!\n\nWe look forward to hearing from you.

Founded in 2013, Nadine West sends personalized outfits to your doorstep every month. No subscription fees. Pay for only what you like.\n\n**DESCRIPTION**\n\nReporting directly to the Lead Engineer (and working alongside a member of the Ruby on Rails core team!), you will dive in and take ownership of our existing codebase, helping extend and scale our bespoke recommendations engine, order management, inventory, shipping, and reporting components.\n\nThis is a great opportunity to help lead the engineering team of a startup that is already profitable, already a well-known brand for women, but is still growing fast even in COVID times. We need someone who can not only build our existing codebase, but also push the envelope, as we are developing some sophisticated data science capabilities, similar to Netflix, Amazon, and Stitch Fix.\n\nFounded in 2014, Nadine West sends personalized outfits to our customers’ doorsteps every month. We are based in Austin TX, but we are a remote-first company, so you can live and work anywhere.\n\n**REQUIREMENTS**\n\nYou partner with stakeholders to understand the business needs and design right-sized solutions, able to move from open-minded design thinking to breaking problems down and iterating to create working software.\n\nYou have built, launched, extended, and maintained a business-critical Rails app long enough to learn from your decisions, and love sharing those stories.\n\nYou have time-tested beliefs about code quality, testing, architecture, database design, ORMs, and build vs. buy tradeoffs, and enjoy articulating those beliefs to your colleagues.\n\nYou’re at home owning the entire product development cycle (design, dev, testing, release, monitoring).\n\nYou’ve managed CI/CD pipelines and love auto-deploying to production after your well-honed tests pass.\n\nYou cherish focused, low-interruption deep work like we do (See Basecamp’s “Is Group Chat is Making you Sweat?” and Cal Newport’s “Deep Work”).\n\nYou’re excited to work remotely, but also excited to share a US timezone and let us host you in Austin one day!\n\n**BENEFITS**\n\n* This position pays somewhere between your local pay and Austin pay (Google “Austin senior software engineer salary”.)\n* You can work and live anywhere that makes you happy.\n* We have always been a remote work company, collaborating across multiple continents. We believe you should be free to work whenever and wherever you choose.\n \n\nBe sure to mention the words **MORNING HUNGRY ACT** when applying to show you read the job post completely. You'll form a key part of a team of developers building backend services to support our SaaS eCommerce platforms.\n\nYou start your day in a team Stand Up discussing progress you made yesterday, listening to your team members describe their current issues and dropping some knowledge bombs on how you “solved this last time”. You’re working from home today, so you pay the pet tax and encourage your four-legged-friend wave to the camera before logging off.\n\nFirst up you’ve got a pair-programming session with a Junior Developer in your team to help them through a tough ERP integration that they’ve been working on. They’ve been steadily improving under your experienced wing and are turning into a really productive team member.\n\nAfter lunch you’ll set your Slack status and turn on Do Not Disturb for a couple of hours while you debug a weird issue with a customer’s site. There’s been a change to the out of stock logic recently to support multiple warehouses. You update your unit test suite to cover this unexpected scenario and tell the Project Manager the good news! You push your feature branch to Bitbucket and watch Bitbucket Pipelines build your artifact and prove that your tests pass.\n\nYour JIRA issue has automatically transitioned to “In Code Review” and you open your pull request, studying your diff carefully before assigning it to your team mate for a sanity check.\n\nTomorrow (assuming all is well!) you’ll merge your pull request into a release branch and let Pipelines deploy it to Staging where it will be regression tested by the QA Team and their bank of automated tests. It should be out to Production by the end of the week, providing we can get through the testing and get client sign off by 2pm on Thursday.\n\n**If you read this and it sounds like your ideal job — we want you on the team!**\n\n## What you'll be doing\nThe following should give you an idea of how you’ll be expected to typically be spending your time. It’s not set in stone and it may change from week-to-week, but it gives an idea of what is expected from the role.\n\n### Software Development (80%)\n\nThe majority of your time will be spent working with your team to deliver software that meets the needs of our customers. This isn’t time that you’ll spend entirely in your editor, there’s stand up, sprint planning, scoping, architecting and designing that you’ll take part in to make sure we’re building exactly what we need in the right way.\n\nGiven your experience, a portion of this time is expected to be spent assisting other team members in delivering their work effectively.\n\n#### Process and Tooling Improvements (10%)\n\nMaking sure that we don’t sit still and keep evolving the way we build and deliver software is a critical investment of time, particularly from a team member with your experience. Use this time to try that tool you read about and see if it’s worthy of being a part of our toolchain.\n\n#### Personal Development (10%)\n\nKeeping up with new software releases, development practices, horror stories and post mortems are an essential part of any Software Developer’s time! Use this time to push forward your objectives and research tools and techniques you need to stay productive.\n\n## Requirements\n\n#### Essential Technical Skills\n\n* Server-side JavaScript\n* Experience with FaaS platforms (e.g. Google Cloud, Azure, AWS, etc)\n* Experience with one or more popular Node framework (e.g. Nest, Koa, Express, Hapi)\n* Experience integrating with NoSQL data stores (e.g. Cosmo, Mongo, Firestore, Dynamo)\n* Working with third-party REST and GraphQL APIs\n* Experience unit testing with Javascript\n* Experience of the full software lifecycle\n* Experience with Agile methodologies\n* Advanced experience working with Git\n* Advanced knowledge of the HTTP and H2 protocols\n* Advanced knowledge of web application security\n\n#### Essential Knowledge & Experience\n\n* At least 2 years of development experience working in a development team within a commercial environment\n* Experience dealing directly with non-technical stakeholders\n* Highly motivated with demonstrable technical and analytical skills\n* Desire to further technical skills and knowledge\n* Attention to detail, commitment and desire to complete a consistently high standard of work\n* Advanced time management skills with the ability to manage own tasks to agreed timelines with limited supervision\n* Able to clearly communicate complex design and development decisions\n* Advanced knowledge of best practice and architecture for complex web applications\n* Advanced knowledge of and able to avoid common security issues in web applications\n* Able to articulate complex technical solutions with minimal assistance\n* Able to design and build complex technical solutions with minimal assistance\n* Strong communication skills\n\n#### Desirable Technical Skills\n\n* Typescript\n* Experience with Azure or Google Cloud\n* Client-side JavaScript\n* React\n* Docker\n* Experience integrating with relational databases (e.g. Postgres, MySQL)\n* Experience with APIs that implement HATEOAS+HAL\n* Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, BitBucket)\n* Experience with PCI compliance\n* Experience working with servers over SSH\n\n#### Desirable Knowledge & Experience\n\n* At least 1 years software development experience on an ecommerce platform\n* Experience of people management in a fast-paced development environment\n* Managing tasks and timelines of a development team, within a commercial environment\n\n## Benefits\n* We're fully remote and will support you in working from wherever you like\n* Flexible working hours to suit your lifestyle\n* 22 days holiday + bank holidays + an extra day's holiday for each year worked\n* Your birthday off\n* Vitality private health cover (Currently UK only. Hi there! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Xavier Armand and I am the co-founder of The Vaan Group (www.vaangroup.com): a fully remote UX design and engineering agency with headquarters in NYC. We’re looking to hire a senior frontend engineer to work on e-commerce projects. \n\nWe build commerce engines. We're not a 360 agency. We're not a marketing agency. We're a design and engineering studio. That’s our difference. Our e-commerce stores are designed and built to give our clients a technical edge over their competition. To do this, we synthesize business requirements, UX requirements, marketing requirements, technology requirements and creative requirements into a single digital shopping experience built for our clients and their consumers – a commerce engine. Our technology becomes the foundation upon which business' scale their operations, escalate their marketing efforts and grow their sales. The value of our work is defined by how big of a moat our clients’ technology creates between them, their competition, and Amazon.\n\nOur clients range from large e-commerce enterprises (>$100M per year) to successful mid-stage ($1M - $100M per year) direct to consumer (DTC) e-commerce brands. We very often work with the following platforms: Shopify Plus, Contentful. DatoCMS, ReCharge Payments, and Algolia\n\nWe’re a realistic group, not looking for rockstar ninja wizards or whatever people say these days. Our team resides (or is working from) around the USA, Poland, Spain, Brazil, and Norway. We are looking for someone with Shopify experience who's built custom frontend experiences (themes, apps, features). \nYou should be comfortable working solo or leading a team.\nYou should feel comfortable taking responsibility for a completion and launch of a project.\nYou should care about the quality of the code and the output.\nYou would work closely with our CTO.\n\nBy experience I mean we're looking for someone who's led the development of commercially available e-commerce websites or apps built or integrated with Shopify. \n\n Agencies are problem solvers by nature - we often march forward with 70% of a brief and our clients expect us to complete the puzzle. A perfect candidate has well-formed opinions, great discipline, naturally established work habits, and takes delight in their work.\n\nA great quote about what we're looking for from people who have been managing remote teams longer than us:\n\n"Everyone has to be an A-player. Remote team members are used to four to six hours of focused, uninterrupted work every day. You have to be able to get through problems on your own and be productive without asking for help. There’s no substitute for skill and experience in those cases."\n\nWe look forward to hearing from you! \n\nBe sure to mention the words **JAR GIANT TYPICAL** when applying to show you read the job post completely. This is a beta feature to avoid spam applicants.\n\n\n\n#Location\nEurope or Latin America

Shopify is now permanently remote and working towards a future that is digital by default. Learn more about what this can mean for you.\n\nShopify is the leading cloud-based, multi-channel commerce platform. Merchants can use the software to design, set up, and manage their stores across multiple sales channels, including web, mobile, social media, marketplaces, and brick-and-mortar locations. The platform also provides merchants with a powerful back-office and a single view of their business. Shopify was engineered for reliability and scale, making enterprise-level technology available to businesses of all sizes. Shopify powers over 1,000,000 businesses in over 175 countries — and here’s how we’ve been helping more merchants survive, thrive, and navigate the impacts of COVID-19.\n \nShopify is on a fast-moving mission to make the best products for merchants, buyers, and partners around the globe — and engineers play a vital role in building that future. Here are just some of the stories from the engineering teams who build and scale Shopify.\n \n*Intrigued? That’s great! We’re looking for Senior Software Developers to join our team, and maybe you’re the person we’re looking for!*\n\n**What types of Senior Software Developers might be interested in joining?**\n \n**Backend Development**\n\nAt Shopify, Backend Developers with a passion for solving tough problems with performant code work on teams that ship on quality instead of on time. Our teams deploy new code many times a day, and our production scale is massive. We’re talking over 1 million online stores, and hundreds of millions of requests a day. Thousands of entrepreneurs will see your work within seconds – a difficult but incredibly rewarding responsibility. Shopify is the largest Ruby on Rails application in the world and we're a big part of the Rails community. We’re constantly improving our codebase to make it even better.\n \n**Mobile Development (React Native, Android & iOS)**\n\nOur Mobile Developers work along with designers and product managers to build and launch new features for our apps. You’ll work on large-scale apps that are ever-changing, enabling entrepreneurship for hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs. Our Android developers use Kotlin and our iOS developers use Swift. Our teams are increasingly working with React Native so openness to cross-platform mobile development is a plus!\n \n**UX Development **\n\nAt Shopify, UX Developers work on building experiences inclusive of everyone regardless of location, language, device, assistive technology, or network speed. You’ll work across disciplines and are excited about building human-centered experiences. You’ll work closely with the teams that create compelling content, build awareness of Shopify, and communicate stories about Shopify's role in commerce to a global audience. Or, you might focus on creating thoughtful product interfaces for our users, shape our design language, and contribute to our shared component libraries in a maintainable and scalable way. Our teams primarily work with the latest web standards in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and Ruby on Rails.\n \n**Web Development**\n\nOur Web Developers work closely with software engineering teams, designers and product managers to not only build incredible merchant-facing products, but also developer-facing tools. You’ll use modern technologies and frameworks like Typescript, React, GraphQL and Apollo to develop large front-end web applications that scale and perform well on all devices. Ruby on Rails is used to add and modify controllers, models, views, and integrating front-end code into a Rails application.\n\n**You’ll be working on things like:**\n\n* Collaborating with other designers and developers\n* Creating beautiful and fast code that improves our code base in meaningful ways\n* Using test-driven development to write well-tested code\n* Fixing bugs fast and taking your time to solve hard problems well\n* Contributing back to the open source community\n\n**Qualities you likely have to be well suited to this role:**\n\n* Experience using technologies and frameworks like (but not limited to) some of our most-used languages — Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, Java/JEE, Node.js, PHP, Python, React or React Native — is an asset, but not required. Don’t have experience with many of them? No problem — deep experience with any object-oriented language and willingness to learn our tech stack goes a long way. (Also: Check out our StackShare here.)\n* Curiosity and passion to constantly learn new things; Shopify changes fast, and we need the people who work here to be able to change and learn fast too\n* Experience with relational databases and SQL \n\n**Bonus Points**\n\nYou’ve mentored teammates on new ways to deepen their technical craft \n\nBe sure to mention the words **PYRAMID OBSERVE UNAWARE** when applying to show you read the job post completely. This is a remote position. You will be joining 100% remote team.\n\nBonfire is an ecommerce platform where anyone can design and sell custom apparel online with a no-inventory campaign-based model. Our users range widely, including nonprofits raising money and building brand awareness, content creators engaging their audiences, individuals launching personal fundraisers and everything in between.\n\nWe build software that facilitates just about every aspect of buying or selling custom apparel online. SkyVerge is looking for a talented full-stack senior PHP engineer to join our team and help build our portfolio of WordPress plugins for WooCommerce. You'll write code that helps power mission-critical tools for millions of online stores.\n\n**The Role**\n\nYou’ll focus on building new features and maintaining existing code, while also helping with code reviews and customer support. With over 60 different plugins, there’s a wide variety of work. You might spend time on some complicated frontend interactions using JS, then switch focus to working with a tricky external REST API for a while, and later work on adding unit/acceptance tests to our framework code.\n\nYou’ll have the opportunity to really dive into a problem and understand it before crafting a well-engineered, high quality solution. We believe the best work happens when given lots of uninterrupted time to think and code.\n\nOur plugins are built on top of WordPress and designed to work with WooCommerce, so we use PHP 5.3+ (moving soon to PHP 5.6 minimum) and we write all new JS in ES6. We follow a superset of the WordPress coding standards and actively invest in tooling & testing to improve both the quality of our products and the happiness of our team building them. \n\nWe work primarily through GitHub and Slack, so you should be able clearly express your ideas via comments and messages. All new code is tested and peer-reviewed, so you’ll be able to both learn from the rest of the team and share your knowledge.\n\nAs one of our senior engineers, the team will look to you for advice and direction. You’ll help shape our best practices, decide on libraries & tooling, and refactor older or underperforming parts of the codebase. You’ll also be responsible for moving your projects forward, communicating your progress and milestones with others, and clearly documenting your work.\n\n**Process**\n\nAfter an initial screening, you’ll get an email with a few questions to answer. Following that, you’ll have a few 45 minute phone chats with different people on our team to learn more about you and answer any questions you have about the position and company. \n\nThe most qualified candidates will then be invited to complete a short one-day research project. If this goes well, we’ll invite you to the final stage of our evaluation process: the trial project. During this 1-2 week period, you’ll work closely with our team as a paid contractor to develop & ship a small feature. This gives you an opportunity to make sure you enjoy the work and the team, and it gives us an opportunity to evaluate your work. We’ll have regular chats each week to share feedback and make sure we’re on the same page. At the end of the project, if all goes well, you’ll be offered a permanent position. 🙂 \n\n**Benefits**\n\nHere are some benefits we're happy to offer to our team members:\n\n* Competitive salary\n* Annual incentive for meeting team and company goals\n* 27 days of paid time-off, in addition to 2 company holidays (SkyVerge Day in March, Founders Day in June 😀)\n* Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance for US and Canadian residents and their families (reimbursements for comparable care for non-US/Canadian residents)\n* 401k/RRSP Retirement plan with 4% company match for US/Canadian residents (contributions to comparable plans for non-US/Canadian residents)\n* Up to 8 weeks paid parental leave for new mothers and fathers\n* Work flexible hours from anywhere that has a reliable internet connection\n* Tools (hardware/software) to help you be productive\n* Allowance for professional growth (books, courses, conferences)\n* Home office or co-working allowance\n* A Kindle to help you keep learning\n\n*We support workplace diversity and do not discriminate on any protected class. We believe when we work together as a team of different views, experiences, and ideas, we can build amazing things.*\n\n# Responsibilities\n **Here are some things you may do on a given day:**\n\n* Research and write a pitch to refactor the data model for our shipping extension\n* Refactor an underperforming class after profiling it in your local environment\n* Troubleshoot an issue with our Memberships plugin by deep-diving into the content restriction class\n* Analyze a slow SQL query and suggest ways to improve it\n* Construct a detailed, multi-step data migration to move data from a custom post type to a custom table, write unit tests for it, and manually user test / QA it.\n* Review a pull request from another team member for readability, maintainability, and adherence to standards, and provide suggested improvements\n* Review new API documentation for one of our integration plugins and draft a story to upgrade to it\n\n**On the first day you will:**\n\n* Meet your team and get familiar with how we work\n* Setup your local environment and tooling\n* Commit a small tweak to a plugin and open a pull request for peer review\n\n**In the first week you will:**\n\n* Develop, QA, review, and ship a small feature improvement\n* Participate in code review for a teammate’s code\n* Help a team member with fixing a bug\n\n**In the first month you will:**\n\n* Work closely with the product team to ship a large feature\n* Participate in your first support rotation week and help our support team with escalated issues\n* Handle deploying a set of plugin releases using our internal tools\n* Publish a retrospective on your first large project to share successes & planned improvements for the next project\n \n\n# Requirements\nYou love solving engineering challenges in the most pragmatic way possible. You write code that's clear, readable, and standards-compliant. More importantly, you keep the end user in mind and love getting feedback from customers to help improve our products.\n\nFinally, you can’t wait to join a small team that loves their work as much as you do, affords the opportunity to work on challenging & interesting projects, continuously learn and improve, and constantly ship your work. You’re an excellent writer and can communicate effectively whether drafting up a bug report, chatting in Slack, editing a wiki page, or drafting a retrospective. You know that code is about communication and explaining your thought process clearly goes hand-in-hand.\n\nOur team is fully-remote and we communicate primarily through Slack, Clubhouse, Google Docs, Basecamp, and weekly stand-ups via Zoom (a few short meetings) — we believe the best work happens when given lots of uninterrupted time that’s free of distractions.\n\nAs a remote team, we believe that regular meetups are invaluable for getting to know each other better, so you should be available for 1-2 company-paid team trips per year. Curious about what those are like? Check out our recap of our last team retreat ([SkyTrip](http://www.skyverge.com/blog/skytrip-2018-recap/)), which brought the entire team out to Lake Tahoe, California for a week. It’s a plus if you think (like we do) that bears are absolutely the coolest animals in the forest.\n\nThis is a full-time, salaried position, but hours are flexible. We know your work will speak for itself with commits, issues closed, and wiki edits.\n \n\nBe sure to mention the words **ORANGE USELESS VOLUME** when applying to show you read the job post completely. This is a beta feature to avoid spam applicants.\n\n

**Plug in Useful make some of the [most popular SaaS web apps for Shopify](http://https://www.pluginuseful.com/collections/apps). With over 100k users we've followed the rapid growth of Shopify and are looking to add a senior engineer to our 100% remote team of six.**\n\nAs a Senior Software Engineer you'll have worked with React and Rails before and ideally have used the Flux pattern on a decent-sized web app. You can both architect software, building it from the ground up, and maintain existing systems in a thoughtful way.\n\nJust as important is how you approach problems and work in the team. We don't want someone who puts their headphones on for three days and churns out code. Your instinct is to collaborate.\n\nYou'll work closely with our product manager to gather requirements, come up with technical solutions, present these in a clear non-technical way and agree on what to do.\n\nYou'll both mentor and learn from our software engineer through code reviews and working on problems together. And you'll help our QA tester to understand changes, how best to test them and be responsive in fixing bugs.\n\nWe're 100% remote across different timezones so clear, regular communication is key. Your location isn't important as long as there's a roughly 4 hour overlap with Eastern Time and European Time.\n\nYou're experienced in working remotely and have found a schedule and setup that works best for you. If that's a coworking space we can pay for that, but that's optional since you decide where you're at your most productive.\n\n### Skills & Experience\n* 1+ years React or similar frontend frameworks\n* 3+ years Rails\n* 5+ years software engineering\n* Have worked on web apps, ideally B2B SaaS\n* Software architecture\n* Have used a few different software patterns\n* Very collaborative\n* Clear non-technical communicator\n* Have worked remotely\n* Curious about new technologies\n* Ideally have worked with Kanban \n\nFull time, 100% remote from any location with a 4 hour overlap with Eastern Time and European Time. We believe strongly in work/life balance with reasonable hours (usually 37.5 hours or occasionally more when required) and paid time off. \n\n# Requirements\nApply by sending your CV and a brief email intro to [email protected] We love it when you mention something from the job description. \n\nBe sure to mention the words **FENCE SILK FEVER** when applying to show you read the job post completely. \nAbout us:\nRetail Growth Fund acquired the Ice.com domain in 2014 to launch the best place for women to discover and purchase jewelry. We don't take any inventory because we're a marketplace - which means our capital goes towards building IP and acquiring/retaining users. \nA few things that make us interesting:\n* The jewelry industry is a fragmented, $80B market (in the US alone), growing at 5%+ annually, that software has yet to disrupt. \n* You will be joining an awesome team led by Brandon Proctor and Justin Yoshimura (3x exits). \n* We are extremely data driven and technology/software is in our DNA. You won't be a second class citizen here, guaranteed. \n* We don't have time for assholes or politics. \n* Competitive compensation package including equity in a high growth VC backed start-up (Crosslink, Maveron, Quest, Polaris). Salary/equity is determined based on a sliding scale: if you would like a higher salary, we can issue you less equity, and vice versa. \n* Small (12 person), growing, and agile team. \n* $1k gift card to dog food our own marketplace sellers! \n\n\nWhat we'd like to see:\n* True, full-stack engineers with extensive experience in Python/Django or Java. (Django is a key part of our stack but we use some Java). \n* Strong foundation in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, databases, software design and dev ops.\n* Work experience with relational databases and SQL.\n* Experience with agile development process in collaborative environment.\n* BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics OR 4 years of relevant work experience.\n* Good understanding of performance tradeoffs.\n\n\nBonus Points:\n* We are currently using Magento, an open source e-commerce platform built in Zend PHP - yuck), but we are building a new, badass e-commerce platform (Django, Java, Node.js and integrating it with Netsuite's order management tools (no need to re-invent the entire wheel, after all). Related experience is a plus.\n* MS or PhD\n* if you have an awesome Github repo, open source contributions, or a cool project you can demo, please cut to the front of the line...\n\n\nResponsibilities:\nAs a member of our small but seriously talented engineering team, you will play a key role in both shaping and building our technologies. Your scope will be broad, ranging from user-facing features to server-side components and libraries. We are looking for a generalist who enjoys learning and working with different technologies. And of course you will be expected to commit code on your first day. \n*This job description is not meant to be an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities, but constitutes a general definition of the position's scope and function in the company.
