Nexus Mutual is hiring a Remote Senior Frontend Engineer
\nNexus Mutual is an on-chain risk marketplace operated by and for members. Our mission is to build an ecosystem in which anyone can protect anyone else by sharing risk. The mutual launched in 2019 and has become the leading coverage provider within the DeFi ecosystem with more than $7.3m in claims, that have been paid to date.\n\nThe protocol provides a decentralized, transparent alternative to traditional insurance companies. The economic incentives within the mutual solve the centralized insurance industry's core problem: the principal-agent problem.\n\nWhat weโre looking for\n\nWe are looking for a frontend engineer to work with us to build the premier on-chain risk marketplace for DeFi, CeFi and beyond. You can learn more about us here: Twitter, Discord, Github. Someone who can work end to end, to help us build and deploy intuitive user interfaces that span our web pages and applications.\n\n\n\n\nOur team is working with web3 technologies across the stack. The ideal person is someone who is user oriented, has a good understanding of UX best practices, is passionate about building scalable applications, and highly curious about DeFi and Crypto.\n\n\n\n\nApp layer: React.js, Redux, ReduxSaga, Reselect, GraphQL, Node.js, TypeScript, AssemblyScript, MongoDB\n\nWeb3: Solidity, OpenZeppelin, Chainlink oracles, Hardhat, Mocha, Chai, Tenderly, IPFS, The Graph, Ethers.js, Web3-onboard.js\n\nInfrastructure: AWS, CircleCI, Coveralls, Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAreas you will contribute to\n\n\n* Develop and maintain the Nexus Mutual web pages and applications\n\n* Integrate with our smart contracts to fetch data around covers, claims, and staking\n\n* Continuously adapt the design framework based on research and user needs to improve usability\n\n* Integrate and adapt the UI for the new Governance system, once we adopt it\n\n* Keep up with smart contract changes, review contributions, and components developed by the ecosystem and design partners\n\n* Integrate with other chains to build native experiences for users to be able to prove losses\n\n* Debug and fix user-reported issues\n\n\n\n\n\n* 5+ years of experience on frontend development and JS based frameworks\n\n* Proficient with React, Redux, CSS and HTML\n\n* Understanding of API frameworks, plus experience with fetching and displaying dynamic data\n\n* Understanding of modern, client-side, architecture\n\n* Being self-motivated and eager to keep up with the fast paced and agile team.\n\n* Being obsessed with clean code and engineering best practices\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou will stand out if\n\n\n* You are interested in decentralization and web3 technologies\n\n* You are curious about crypto, DeFi, tokenomics and game theory\n\n* You have experience with the web3 frontend stack (ethers.js / web3.js, etc)\n\n* You have knowledge of UX best practices\n\n* You have worked on finance-related, retail or institutional products\n\n* You have a keen eye for security\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhatโs in it for you\n\n\n* Be part of a small and dynamic team, where passion for our work describes and sets the tone for everything that we do.\n\n* Opportunity to get involved in solving both technical and philosophical challenges around human coordination in the context of insurance\n\n* Flexible remote work schedule, with regular in-person offsites. We are a fully remote organization that strives to pave the way for the future of insurance.\n\n* A competitive fixed (fiat component) compensation package, plus a generous token allocation.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy are we doing this?\n\nThe concept of insurance comes from communities in the past who pooled their resources to protect each other from the risks they all faced. It works better the more people are in the pool as the numbers become more reliable. But this method isnโt scalable because it is a trust-based system and the network of individuals trusted by everyone in the pool only extends so far. Hence traditional insurance companies emerged.\n\nWhen Ethereum and smart contracts came along we realised we could apply our insurance industry knowledge to our passion for decentralised technology. We realised we could build a mutual on a platform where individuals only need to trust the system, not everyone in it.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpecifically, we could see a solution to the problem of agencyโwhere an insurer looks after customers' money on their behalf. We also saw the opportunity to make significant cost savings compared to the traditional insurance model. As weโre already in the UK, we have the perfect base to build out this concept due to the existing law around mutuality.\n\nThe aim is to provide our members with more simple, transparent, accessible, and affordable financial protection against their risks.\n\nMore info here ๐ https://nexusmutual.gitbook.io/docs/welcome/faq/nexus-mutual-the-basics \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

Octopus Energy is hiring a Remote Senior Backend Developer Supportsite Team
\nKraken is the technology tentacle of the Octopus Energy Group. \n\n\nAll technology is written and maintained by a multi-discipline engineering team of around 300 people globally. Our engineers work in โsuper teamsโ which are focused on key areas of our platform as well as other innovative products. This also includes server-side, client-side and mobile engineers working closely with UX experts, copywriters and designers. \n \nTeams are empowered to choose a way of working that works for them, often opting for a Kanban-like approach. Notion and Asana are then used to specify and manage work; Github, CircleCI and Terraform Enterprise as part of an immutable-infrastructure, continuous delivery pipeline; and Datadog, Sentry and Cloudwatch to measure performance and monitor production. \n \nSome of our coding conventions are open-source . \n \nKraken is a great place to learn, work with some talented engineers and level-up your skills. \n \nOur technology\nOn the server-side, we mainly use Python. Most of our websites are powered by Django, Django-REST-framework and GraphQL (Graphene). \n \nWe use AWS heavily as part of a continuous deployment pipeline. See, for example, Django, ELB health checks and continuous delivery. \n \nClient-side, we use React, htmx and SASS; our mobile apps are built using native code or React Native.\n\n\nOur team\nOur teamโs goal is to make Kraken as awesome as the Energy Specialists who use it every day. We work closely with them and our in-house designers to keep making it better and better. Beyond that, our work empowers Krakenโs many backend teams to build amazing features without having to worry about CSS and JavaScript getting in their way. We do this by building our own design system, working with other teams on building new features, and ensuring Kraken is a joy to work on. All while adding new features and maintaining existing functionality.\n\n\nWeโre looking for a strong backend developer with a solid understanding of Django, to help us become even more of a full-stack powerhouse.\n\n\nSo, would you like to work in a team that gets the opportunity to collaborate with others, and dip into many domains? Would you like to help shape the experience of Energy Specialists using Kraken? Would you like to help come up with the best patterns to build an awesome website, from Django templates, to React, to HTMX? Would you like to mentor Frontend devs who want to build out their skills and go full-stack, while learning a few Frontend tricks from them? Give us a shout.\n\n\n\nWhat you'll do\n* We have lots of difficult design challenges to solve. The UK utilities market is complicated, outdated and process-heavy - there's an awful lot of domain modelling that we need to get right. Strong attention to detail is essential.\n* We have challenging technical problems to solve; like processing tens of millions of meter readings a day. We need the right technology in place to handle this smoothly as well as feeding data into a machine learning pipeline that models and predicts consumption. Or thinking about how we adapt Kraken to improve other utilities like water and broadband.\n* There's a great opportunity for disruption in the UK energy market. The big suppliers still dominate, but are not exactly popular. The energy landscape is changing as we move to more dis-aggregated forms of generation, with less predictability, more dynamism and smarter technology.\n* You'll be working for a company thatโs fighting climate change. ๐ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!
When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site. Remote OK accepts no liability or responsibility as a consequence of any reliance upon information on there (external sites) or here.
