Do you love optimizing code? Does legacy code make you want to refactor it to current best practices and standards? Does making complexity simple excite you? Do you have a knack for teamwork with people from different backgrounds and skills?\n\nIf you answered yes to these questions, we are sure this position will sound super exciting to you!\n\nWe’re an all-in-one WordPress plugin for Affiliate Marketers. We help online business owners monetize their sites tastefully and track all of their links, at-scale. We are looking for a friendly person in love with PHP, WordPress, code quality, and speed to join our growing Product Development team.\n\nIn your job as a WordPress Developer, your primary focus will be building new features, fixing bugs, and continuously improving our WordPress plugins\n\n## About Us\nThe team behind Lasso are seasoned affiliate marketers who’ve been running online businesses since 2012. Andrew and Laura Fiebert, who co-founded Lasso, have large affiliate sites – in 2020 their sites reached over 11 million people. They struggled to manage all of the affiliate links on their sites with existing plugins. So, they decided to grow a team and build the All-On-One Affiliate Marketing plugin for WordPress. They have been helping online business owners monetize their sites tastefully and track all of their links ever since. \n\nWe currently have 7 people on the team located all over the world. We’re hoping to add more passionate team members in the coming months! Learn more about our amazing team here.\n\n## What You Will Be Doing:\nHere is a list describing the tasks involved in this position (do you happen to like making lists? So do we!):\n\n- Contribute to continuously improving Lasso through new features and bug fixes.\n- Collaborate with the cross-functional development team to get code improvements built, tested, demoed, and ready to ship\n- Seek opportunities to make our plugin products run faster, be easier to maintain, and be more reliable, robust, and scalable\n- Contribute to our code libraries, code reviews, process improvements, and technical decisions.\n\n## What You Need To Excel:\n**Be Yourself.**\nThe Lasso team is diverse and composed of people from all over the world. Respect, collaboration, and inclusivity are some of our core values.\n\n**Solid PHP and Javascript expertise.**\nYou will bring proven experience in building, improving, and maintaining our PHP and JS code. You develop using modern PHP and JS (for example, OOP, Composer, or PSR’s) but also know when to use procedural.\n\n**Know WordPress.**\nOur products are built on top of and used within WordPress. We use a superset of WordPress coding standards.\n\n**Passion and humbleness.**\nYou are a skilled, passionate, and humble developer who is friendly, collaborative, and supportive. Solving problems and building solutions that help people are the values that make your work special and rewarding.\n\n**Consider how your work impacts others.**\nYour code is a pleasure to use, read, and understand. When working in the codebase, you leave things better than when you found them. You value personal growth and constructive feedback. People feel good around you because you love sharing what you know while continuously improving yourself, remaining thoughtful and flexible in your approach.\n\n**We care about the work you do, not about the hours you sit at your desk.**\nYou can organize your working day with flexible working hours. There are no time cards to stamp, just customers to make happy and friendly teammates to work with!\n\n**Proficient knowledge of English.**\nEmpathetic and collaborative communication is key: you are comfortable writing, speaking, and listening in English with technical and non-technical teammates.\n\n**So what do you think? If you’d like to grow long-term with our team and build amazing things, we want to hear from you!** \n\n#Salary and compensation\n$30,000 — $50,000/year\n\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

Here’s a summary of the role.\n\n—\n\n##Required skills:\n\n* Proficient in React\n* Proficiency with modern Javascript\n* Good knowledge of Typescript\n* Good knowledge of Redux\n* Good knowledge of modern CSS\n* Good grasp of Webpack\n* Good command of the English language\n\n###Bonus points for:\n\n* Having good knowledge of PHP\n* Experience with Mobx\n* Experience with PostCSS\n* Experience with SASS\n* Familiar with WordPress plugin/theme development\n\n\n##Why work with us?\n\nRemote jobs, especially related to React development, are in abundance right now and we know that.\n\nHere’s what we offer to all our team members, whether they are employees or freelancers, full-time or not.\n\n###Timezones aren’t an issue\n\nAlthough you may need to be around for a team call here and there, most of the time you’ll be able to work asynchronously at any time you want. If there’s something that you don’t know how to do, that’s fine. We’ll help you to learn and apply it in your work. The required skills above aren’t really optional, but if you’re unsure about one or two, we’ll probably be able to make things work. The bonus skills would be great for you to know, but if not, they’re not a deal-breaker.\n\n—\n\n##Your role:\n\nYou will be responsible for the following:\n\n* Developing React browser apps using Typescript and PostCSS modules\n* Integrating React apps with a WordPress PHP backend via a REST API\n* Create extensible and reusable systems using Typescript\n* Creating Redux stores that React components interact with\n* Configuring a Webpack build pipeline with code splitting\n* Maintaining packages on npmjs.com\n* Potentially converting legacy SASS into PostCSS\n\nAside from working alongside Miguel, you’ll also work with me (Mark), the CEO, to ensure that the projects move along smoothly. Our team is very open with each other and we like to constantly improve our processes to make sure everyone can work comfortably and reach their highest potential.\n\nThis position is a full-time role and it will potentially involve you in multiple projects over time, both existing and new ones.\n\n##Who you are\n\nWho you are is very important to us. You’re holistic in your design philosophy. You maintain a high value of brand experience congruency across channels and know how to facilitate that experience visually.\n\nYou’re a life-long learner. You remain a student of your craft. You look forward to giving and receiving feedback as opportunities to grow and strengthen key working relationships. You stay connected to emerging design trends in Marketing and are constantly researching competitors and industry leaders for opportunities to distinguish this brand in the market.\n\nYou’re comfortable in a one-person design situation. This role is the sole designer within our small-but-mighty Marketing team. While there are other designers in the company for creative connection, delivering for the Marketing team will be up to you. You’re competitive by nature and like to help the team win.\n\nYou love to work with smart, creative people and hate mediocrity. Small teams, dynamic organizations, and flexible working environments are what you thrive in. You’re self-driven and relentlessly optimistic. + You would be supporting our clients with their website needs, including making CSS changes, changing layout, and adding new features and functionality.\n\n+ You’d be communicating with the team regularly. We use Freshdesk for tech support tickets and Slack for team communication. There are occasionally some team meetings done via Zoom.\n\n+ You can work from anywhere. No moving for a job involved. If you’re happy where you are, stay there. If you’re unhappy, move somewhere new. This job will go with you. (If you want to spend a month working from the Italian countryside or in a Scottish pub, more power to you.)\n\n+ You decide what you want your hours to be. You just need to communicate with the team regularly.\n\n+ You get paid on an hourly basis. This is a contract position and payments are made every two weeks, in accordance with our payroll schedule.\n\nREQUIREMENTS\n\nYou should have a solid understanding of SASS, CSS, PHP and Javascript. Most of our clients have sites built on WordPress and Shopify, but we are looking for developers who have experience with other platforms.\n\nThis job IS for you if:\n* You believe the best code is clean, simple, and well-organized.\n* You are detailed oriented and meticulous. You get letter spacing, fonts, and column widths right. We are hiring multiple team members, based upon skills and experience.\n\nPlease no phone calls, emails directly to team members, LinkedIn connection requests or Facebook messages. Only applicants who have followed the instructions and applied via the form on our website or email to [email protected] will be considered. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n$62,000 — $90,000/year\n\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

VertiStudio is a distributed [team](https://themeisle.com/about-us/) of more than 20 people all over the world ( Romania, Poland, Greece, Portugal & more), together we run a [profitable](https://www.romanian-companies.eu/vertigo-studio-srl-29109287/) and bootstrapped business for more than 9 years. \n\nWe’re not serial entrepreneurs and we don’t think we are the biggest, brightest developers tackling the biggest technical challenges on the planet. \n\nBut we think companies have unique DNA; VertiStudio is our means to express ourselves in our professional lives. \n\nWhat makes us different?\n\nIt’s not a product, a methodology, or a one-page manifesto.\n\nIt’s through hundreds of little things that we’re different. \n\n**What will you be working on?**\n\nIt depends on your interests & experience. \n\nWe have 3 major projects: [Neve](https://themeisle.com/themes/neve/), [Optimole](https://optimole.com/) & [our own sites](https://vertistudio.com/#vertistudio-portfolio),  our products are being used by around 1 million people & our content sites reach half a million people every month. You will be the technical lead for one of these major projects. \n\nHow will you get there?\n\nWe’d start with a short 2-week trial when you’ll identify some things that can be improved and start improving them immediately.\n\nSee, we’re looking for someone who can teach us something & take our team on the next technical level.\n\n**What kind of people thrive here?**\n\nWhen I’m thinking about technical people, the ones that thrive are those that don’t like doing the same thing twice. \n\nThey’re independent. They like to get to the bottom of the problem. They use the latest technologies, but they’re realistic enough to figure out how it fits the project.\n\nTake this example: https://github.com/Codeinwp/neve/issues/1989 \n\nOr the time an intern used a small internal hackathon as an opportunity to learn a new programming language by asking “can the blocks be made in exotic programming languages like PureScript, F# with Fable or Elm?”\n\nFor this particular role, you’ll need to understand WordPress really really well, have experience in leading a small team or at least running a major project on your own & have strong PHP & Javascript knowledge.\n\n**How to apply?**\n\nUse the form below and clearly state in a written or video form : \n\n* Your experience with WordPress development.\n\n* What is your favorite code performance tweak & show us some code you’ve written that you’re proud of if possible\n\n* Tell us a bit about yourself and why you should be considered.\n\n* Profile links with code samples (GitHub, GitLab, WordPress.org, etc).\n\n* Other profile links if available (Your website, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc).\n\n* A technical improvement that you’ll do on https://github.com/Codeinwp/neve\n\n* For the input field asking if you agree, the answer is **themeisle**. Unfortunately 90% of the people doesn't seem to read this.\n\nPlease take your time to go through those and answer carefully, we don’t have a long interview process, nor any technical tests per se, we’ll need those answers and references to go through them and figure out your technical skills.\n\nNote: I won’t be able to individually respond to all applications, if you’re a match we’ll reach out.\n\nWhat does the process look like?\n\nIf you seem to be the right person, I will reach out to you for a quick 30’ meeting.  I would like to learn more about what you are looking for and answer your questions, alternatively, we can do this via text as well. \n\nIf we agree to move forward, then the next step would be a chat with [Marius](https://github.com/selul), our CTO, about the technical work you’ve done and what you would like to do.\n\nIf this goes well, we’d move into the 2-week paid trial to see how things would work.\n\nIf this goes well, you’re hired. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n$60,000 — $120,000/year\n\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

*NOTE: To be considered for a remote position, you need to be based in the U.S. at this time.*\n\nWe need a developer with a solid understanding of modern front end technologies and most importantly, the ability to work as part of a team.\n\nYour primary responsibility will be helping maintain our ecosystem of websites. This involves building pages from scratch based on Illustrator or Sketch designs and making modifications to our WordPress and JAMstack (Jekyll-based) sites. \n\nYour HTML5 & CSS3 skills will shine as you show off optimization and code quality when resolving bugs and issues when they come up. You’ll also work at designing and developing better user experiences and measuring the effect on those through A/B tests.\n\nWe practice good coding standards, we build for the future, and we don’t believe in cowboy coding or working in a bubble. We’re looking for thinkers … with talent. \n\n## What you’ll be doing day-to-day\n\n* Writing code with a focus on performance, speedy page load times,\nimproving conversion rates\n* Building sites and implementing redesigns, designed in Illustrator/Sketch, on our WordPress or static-based sites\n* Coding features for our sites (both through WP Themes and not) using HTML5/CSS/PHP/JS\n* Designing and developing better user experiences and measuring the effect on those through A/B tests\n* Future-proofing our sites with maintenance fixes, updating features, and rolling out responsive, mobile-friendly platforms\n* Conversing, committing, and delivering via Asana/Slack/GitHub/email (in whatever order that is)\n* Exploring new technologies/tools for finding solutions to new (and old) problems\n* Optimizing conversions with A/B testing\n\n## Application Architecture (things you’ll HAVE to know)\n\n* Experience with static site generators like Jekyll, Gatsby, or Hugo\n* Fundamental PHP experience especially as it relates to maintaining WordPress themes and websites\n* Semantic HTML\n* Sass, Bourbon, etc. (or other CSS pre-processor)\n* CSS Frameworks (Bourbon/Neat, Bootstrap, etc… we roll our own, btw)\n* JavaScript & jQuery skills\n* Experience with build and package management tools like Gulp, NPM, Bower, etc\n* Structured Data (gotta satisfy the Googles)\n* Advanced understanding of all the cool buzzwords… SEO, Web-standards, accessibility and usability concepts, information architecture, UX & UI design (heavy on the UX)\n* Good communication skills & a great can-do attitude (We’re totally serious about this one.)\n* A GitHub account or experience with other version control (SVN, CVS, etc. … but git/gh is where it’s at)\n \n## Tech Stack\n\n**Must Know:**\n* Jekyll, Liquid (templating)\n* HTML, CSS\n* JavaScript, JavaScript, JavaScript, jQuery\n* PHP, WordPress, MySQL\n\n**Prefer to have:**\n* Ruby\n* CI/CD\n* Google Analytics/Google Tag Manager/Google Optimize\n\n**Bonus:**\n* JAMstack (Jekyll, Gatsby, Hugo)\n* JavaScript (Vanilla, React, jQuery, ES6)\n* Node.js, Express, React\n* Build Tools (Gulp, Webpack)\n* AWS Lambda, RDS, Firebase, Netlify\n* MongoDB, GraphQL, and Apollo\n\n## Pluses\n\n* Chris Coyier is a hero of yours.\n* You’ve hosted a website with Netlify, Forestry, or a similar service\n* You have converted a WordPress website to Jekyll, Hugo or another static site\n* You know the entire CanIUse library inside and out.\n* You want to teach as much as learn.\n* You have a pixel-perfect design eye with Photoshop/Illustrator or Sketch skills to match. It’s going to come in super-handy.\n* You read sites like SmashingMagazine.com and actually put tutorials into practice.\n* You’ve attended a WordCamp, Meetup, or other industry conference.\n \n## Human Environment\n\n* Located in University District of Seattle\n* Cool office perks (free sodas/Topo Chico/coffee, snacks, etc.)\n* Generous salary considerations & full benefits\n \n## What We Value\n\nWe love to work as a team but office hours are flexible. I will be reviewing your pull requests myself. Style Kits makes heavy use of both PHP and React, so you must be experienced with that.\n\nWe're also planning on creating some WooCommerce extensions in near future. **Overview**\n\nThe Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the nation's most effective environmental action organization. We use law, science and the support of 3.1 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all living things. NRDC was founded in 1970 and our staff helped write some of America's bedrock environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act, and many of the implementing regulations; our water enforcement cases played a major role shaping current water policy throughout the country. Today, our staff of more than 500 lawyers, scientists, economists, policy and communications experts, and others, work out of offices in New York, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Bozeman, Montana, and Beijing.\n\n**Position Summary**\n\nWe are seeking a creative and experienced individual to join the NRDC Digital Technology Team and help build websites, web applications, and hybrid mobile apps for both NRDC and its 501(c)(4) affiliate, the NRDC Action Fund. + You’d be developing custom WordPress sites using PHP, CSS, Javascript and more. We are looking for a skilled, experienced developer who can tackle coding custom sites from scratch as well as creating new features and functionality for sites that you can't get with any existing plugin.\n\n+ You'd be working with our team to address technical support tickets and client requests as they come in. Flexibility, problem solving, and team collaboration are key aspects of this responsibility.\n\n+ You’d be communicating with the team regularly. We use Slack for regular communication and Basecamp for project management. There are occasionally some video chats we'll need to do either via video chat.\n\nJOB BENEFITS:\n\n+ You can work from anywhere. No moving for a job involved. If you’re happy where you are, stay there. If you’re unhappy, move somewhere new. This job will go with you. (If you want to spend a month working from the Italian countryside or in a Scottish pub, more power to you.)\n\n+ You decide what you want your hours to be for projects. For technical support, we do need someone who would be available standard East Coast time work hours (9am-ish to 6pm-ish). You will need to communicate with the team regularly.\n\n+ You get paid on a per project basis for larger projects and hourly for technical support work. \n\nSKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:\n\nYou should have a solid understanding of Wordpress, SASS, CSS, PHP and Javascript. You should have experience coding Wordpress themes.\n\nOther skills:\n\n* You know how to work with Woocommerce.\n* You're comfortable working with Advanced Custom Fields before.\n* You understand how to work with cPanels, update databases directly, and are confident migrating websites to new hosts.\n* You can troubleshoot when a site has been hacked or simply been broken by a client who has gone too far in code.\n\nThis job IS for you if:\n\n* You believe the best code is clean, simple, and well-organized.\n* You are detailed oriented and meticulous. You get letter spacing, fonts, and column widths right. And you’ll even make sure the site ends up with custom favicon.\n* You get projects done on time (or early).\n* You are honest and have no tolerance for drama.\n* You like working on projects for soulful and creative entrepreneurs.\n* You can handle a workload of at least 1-2 custom projects per month. Projects vary in length, taking anywhere between 20 and 50 hours (for a skilled developer), with some larger ones taking longer.\n* You are comfortable using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to gather information from designs for development.\n* You can commit to the position for at least nine months (ideally, we'd love to have you with us long-term).\n\n\nOur ideal candidate is a developer who has an exacting aesthetic eye and the ability to make things so intuitive that the non savvy user can feel comfortable editing.\n\n\nThis job IS NOT for you if:\n\n* You are repeatedly late getting work done.\n* You dislike or have problems with regular communication.\n* You prefer to start out with a pre-made theme with page builders for website development.\n* You often miss details.\n* You think that a 28px margin is the same thing as a 25px margin. Or that Helvetica is the same thing as Open Sans.\n\n#Location\n🌏 Worldwide

Here’s why…**\n\n- We’re young (just a year old) and you will be getting in at the ground level\n- We have an unbelievably engaged team, with world-class people in every department (from video production to research to copywriting and design)\n- Our clients are fantastic. We only take on a handful and are incredibly selective in who we work with\n- We’re a remote company and you’ve the freedom to work from anywhere in the US.\n- We’re going places.\n\n**This position is the right fit for you if…**\n\n- You are someone who completely understands how WordPress works at the code level. As a company we take writing seriously. Great English and attention to detail are essential.\n- Be someone we love working with! Fit comes first, above everything else for us. If you don’t ‘spark joy’ for the team, no matter how good you are, we won’t take you.\n\nNearly all of our communication is written (we use Basecamp 3 and are big fans of it), but we’d like you to be comfortable getting on the occasional call too.\n\n**You will be needed for the following…**\n\nThroughout each project, we have five core needs for development.\n\n**1. Lay the foundation**\n\nSetup of a client’s domain and hosting, and integration of a payment gateway, membership plugin, affiliate plugin and email platform.\nAs a team, we consider ourselves ‘mixed online course artists’.\nMost clients already have websites, hosting and email platforms. Whatever platforms they’re using, we need to be able to get on with them and have them work well together (minimising migrations as much as possible).\nThe one exception to this is we do everything on WordPress.\n\n**2. Create a stunning email capture page**\n\nHere are two examples from some of our clients…\nhttps://theweekendwoodworker.com/\nhttps://artofcoaching.com/\n\nFrom our design team’s PSDs, everything you create needs to be wonderfully responsive, and no stone (from the thank you page to a nicely formatted confirmation email) left unturned.\n\n**3. Build a long-form sales page**\n\nOur designers make sales pages that are many thousands of words digestible and enticing to read. We need you to do their work justice.\n\n**4. Creation of membership area**\n\nPick a favourite WordPress membership plugin and create a layout that houses a course with clear and simple navigation.\nWe always look to enhance the user experience for clients’ customers and deliver the best learning environment possible.\n\n**5. Checkout page**\n\nMaking sure payments are taken, membership entitlements are correct and segments are created in a newsletter platform for buyers.\nYou know where we can get free SSLs and best practices for security.\n\n*\n\nThe position will start at 20-25 hours per week, with a view to becoming near enough full-time in a matter of months. Pay will be set at a competitive hourly rate, fixed.\n\n**To apply…**\n\nPlease write to [email protected] with ONE example of a responsive page you have coded, along with a brief pitch on why you think you’d be a great fit.\n\nDo not send more than one link or your entry will be disqualified.\n\nDo not apply through our website or your entry will be disqualified.\n\nAlso, please do not send a resume, CV or attachment of any kind. We don’t care where you went to college (or that you even went at all) — all that matters is whether you can do it.\n\nWe won’t be able to get back to everyone, but for those who stand out, we will send a list of interview questions in writing, then, for the few we like best, set up a brief call to discuss the opportunity.\n\nThe deadline for submissions is June 10, though those who apply sooner have an advantage.\n\nWe will pick two candidates from interviews to begin a paid two-week trial (to assess on-the-job performance and cultural fit). One person will then be chosen for the ongoing role.\n\nThank you for reading. Best of luck, and I look forward to hearing from you!\n\nKathryn

View the full posting at: https://cornershopcreative.com/help-wanted-wordpress-developer-support-specialist/\n\nCornershop Creative (https://cornershopcreative.com) is seeking an awesome, U.S.-based WordPress developer to join our distributed team.\nThe core responsibility for this position will be investigating, troubleshooting, and coding solutions for WordPress-based websites and applications for our non-profit and small business clients. The person occupying this role will spend his or her time making iterative changes and bug fixes to design, functionality, and backend improvements of the dozens of websites Cornershop manages and maintains. Tasks may include setting up WordPress custom post types, fields and taxonomies; troubleshooting server errors and migrating sites to hosts; and minor HTML, CSS (SASS), and JS coding for custom themes. Additionally, this position may be responsible for developing and maintaining custom WordPress plugins.\nOur ideal candidate is a hard-working, curious troubleshooter comfortable working independently with little supervision, but who also enjoys working as part of a team that includes developers and non-developers. Since we're a distributed shop, you’ll get to work from home! Cool, right?\nSpecifically, the things we’re looking for include:\n\n * Experience with receiving potentially vague end-user bug reports, recreating the issues, and diving into the codebase to quickly identify root causes\n * Significant experience with WordPress theming: template hierarchy, hooks, WP_Query, etc.\n * Strong knowledge of HTML5 markup and CSS3\n * Ability to write CSS/SASS for cross-browser, responsive design (not just by using Bootstrap)\n * Decent JavaScript skills (particularly in jQuery and/or the Node.js ecosystem)\n * Experience managing codebases and deploying websites onto third-party hosts via git, and/or sFTP, making DNS record changes, etc\n * Past experience with quickly and effectively maintaining/troubleshooting/supporting code written by other developers\n * Familiarity with command line tools like git, gulp and wp-cli\n * Ability to laugh at our stupid jokes (and the occasional good one)\n * Familiarity with current (and evolving) best practices in front-end dev regarding semantics, performance, cross-browser consistency, etc.\n * Ability to not lose your s#!% when you occasionally get feedback like “can we make the logo bigger?” or “change the padding by 1px” (and then getting asked to change it back), which may happen despite our best efforts \n * Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment (we keep pretty busy!) and manage a workload of several projects at a time\n * Superb written and oral communication skills\n\n\n\n\nOther stuff we’d love it if you’re good at, but aren’t requirements:\n\n * Working with and customizing BuddyPress\n * Troubleshooting mySQL performance issues (and writing performant queries)\n * Familiarity with Apache/nginx configuration, tuning and troubleshooting\n * Ability to understand and work with common third-party REST APIs\n * Develop ingenious scripts to facilitate complicated cross-platform content migrations\n * Using Photoshop and understanding challenges in designing for the web\n * Working with nonprofit CRM tools such as Salsa, Luminate Online, Engaging Networks, Blue State Digital, and Classy\n * Remembering to un-mute yourself before talking on conference calls\n * Being passionate about progressive causes\n * Writing basic bash scripts and performing other devops/Linux sysadmin kinds of stuff\n\n\n\nCornershop Creative is an award-winning online services agency committed to listening carefully to our non-profit and small business clients and helping them achieve their goals. Our designs are beautiful, and our websites are creative and innovative. Learn more about us at https://cornershopcreative.com/.\nTo apply, send an email to [email protected] with the following:\n\n * Your résumé, which should include an indication of which American state you live and work in\n * A brief cover letter, explaining why you’re excited about this opportunity\n * Links to work you’ve done that we should see, such as recent websites, git repos, or contributed plugins/modules/themes\n * Ideal salary range\n\n\n\n \nU.S. Applicants only!\nPlease be sure to include all of these items — to save everyone valuable time we’ll throw out incomplete applications. Thanks for understanding.\nCornershop is an equal opportunity employer.

Basics of the front-end developer position:\n+ You’d be developing custom WordPress sites. We believe in coding custom sites from scratch and we hope you do too.\n+ You’d be in charge of technical support tickets as they come into Teamwork. Delegation, client communication, and team support are key aspects of this responsibility.\n+ You’d be communicating with the team regularly. We use Slack for regular communication and Basecamp for project management. There are occasionally some video chats we’ll need to do either via video chat.\n\nJOB BENEFITS:\n+ You can work from anywhere. No moving for a job involved. If you’re happy where you are, stay there. If you’re unhappy, move somewhere new. This job will go with you.\n+ You decide what you want your hours to be for projects. For technical support, we can discuss what time would be best for that support work. You will need to communicate with the team regularly.\n+ You get paid on a per project basis for full-scale projects and hourly for technical support work. \n\nSKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:\nYou should have a solid understanding of WordPress, SASS, CSS, PHP and Javascript. You should have experience coding WordPress themes, from scratch. If you’re familiar with Shopify, even better as we do have some simple projects coming up for that platform.\n\nOther skills:\n+ You know how to work with Woocommerce.\n+ You’ve used Advanced Custom Fields before (we use this on many projects).\n+ You understand how to work with cPanels, update databases directly, and are confident migrating + websites to new hosts.\nYou can troubleshoot when a site has been hacked or simply been broken by a client who has gone too far in code.\n\nThis job IS for you if:\n+ You believe the best code is clean, simple, and well-organized.\n+ You are detailed oriented and meticulous. You get letter spacing, fonts, and column widths right. And you’ll even make sure the site ends up with custom favicon.\n+ You get projects done on time (or early).\n+ You are honest and have no tolerance for drama.\n+ You like working on projects for soulful and creative entrepreneurs.\n+ You can handle a workload of at least 1-2 custom projects per month. Projects vary in length, taking anywhere between 10 and 30 hours (for a skilled developer), with some larger ones taking longer.\n+ You are comfortable using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to gather information from designs for development.\n+ You can commit to the position for at least nine months.\n\nOur ideal candidate is a developer who has an exacting aesthetic eye and the ability to make things so intuitive that the non savvy user can feel comfortable editing.\n\nThis job IS NOT for you if:\n+ You are repeatedly late getting work done.\n+ You dislike or have problems with regular communication.\n+ You prefer to start out with a pre-made theme with page builders for website development.\n+ You often miss details.\n+ You think that a 28px margin is the same thing as a 25px margin. Or that Helvetica is the same thing as Open Sans.\n\nMost projects last between 2 and 5 weeks, depending upon the size of the project and the client feedback process.

Sweb Development

This job post is closed and the position is probably filled. Please do not apply.
\nSweb Development is seeking an experienced web developer based in or within driving distance of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This position reports to the Chief Production Officer.\n\nQualified candidates will have several years of experience in front end and PHP development, with a strong desire to join a small and nimble team where collaboration, creative problem solving, and professional growth are consistently valued.\n\nOur ideal candidate has expertise in all or most of the following:\n\n\n* Modern front-end web development, including: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery\n\n* Responsive WordPress development, including developing custom WordPress plugins and themes and working with the WordPress REST API\n\n* Developing and maintaining basic custom RESTful APIs, written in PHP\n\n* [More infrequent; ideal but not required] Deploying LAMP applications to Amazon Web Services (AWS), particularly using Cognito, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, and SES\n\n* Maintaining source control through GIT\n\n\n\n\nOur ideal candidate is knowledgeable but humble. They have a deep understanding of the trade-offs involved in a large project: budget, time, client expectations, performance, business objectives, maintainability etc. They are a solid team player who wants to support everyone else in the company to achieve our clients’ goals. They are patient and excited about helping junior team members learn and grow. Most of all, our ideal candidate has an open mind and a passion for problem-solving\n\nThis role involves approximately:\n\n\n* 60% greenfield development — building new modern WordPress sites, APIs, and custom web applications (often built atop WordPress)\n\n* 20% problem solving with other members of our design, development, and project management teams — tackling particularly difficult bugs or challenging requirements in new or existing sites\n\n* 10% maintaining existing sites in our portfolio, including bug fixes, enhancements, and optimizations/technology upgrades\n\n* 10% analysis and research for new business prospects and proposals — determining feasibility and scope, researching potential alternatives, and identifying risks\n\n\n\n\nThe developer must be capable of clearly and empathetically communicating with our team: discussing potential approaches to a new project with the business development team; understanding design goals with the creative team; working with the project management team to manage deadlines, budgets, and roadblocks. Our ideal candidate writes clearly, expresses their ideas well in client or internal meetings, and strives to put themselves in the client’s (and the client’s customer’s) shoes.\n\nOur team leans on all of our developers to collectively determine code style, recommended open-source and third-party components, and implement business and design goals to achieve performant and high quality sites, web apps, and APIs.\n\nThe developer takes responsibility for the quality of their code and works diligently to identify and resolve bugs and defects before handing a project over to other testers. This role is the trusted emergency responder in rare instances when catastrophe strikes and a site goes down or a large issue is uncovered that requires urgent attention.

\nThe No-Bullshit-iest Way We Can Describe This Job In The Least Amount Of Words In A Run-On Sentence: \n\nWe build a lot of different kinds of stuff for a lot of different kinds of folks (https://sanbornagency.com/work/) at a shop that is big enough to bite off important, meaningful work and small enough to have fun doing it and we’re looking for an engineer who is equally at ease talking to clients, designers, producers, and developers about things like scope, resource allocation, solutions to engineering problems, creative ideas for how to build things, ways to articulate technical complexity to normal business humans...and occasionally...cut some code.\n\nHere’s What We Think You Probably Need to Be Successful At This Job: \n\n\n* Experience in architecting and building bespoke custom WordPress themes using Advanced Custom Fields, Gravity Forms, Yoast with custom integrations to third party systems.\n\n* You do so much Wordpress that you have strongly-held opinions about its future, its architecture, and the "right ways" to build with WP.  We keep our stack lean and don't go plugin-heavy.\n\n* You have strong opinions on, and respect for, the design process.\n\n* We mostly do a lot of HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL and JavaScript -- we keep it lean and get the job done.\n\n* Have agency experience, working across multiple projects and clients.\n\n* Are comfortable delivering projects using current web standards based on project specifications, collaborating with project management and design colleagues\n\n* Experienced in code reviews to adhere to best practices and internal standards, providing feedback and following up on remediation\n\n* You have an ear to the ground for new tech, whether it comes from hacker news or a programming subreddit, and a desire to dive in and try it out.\n\n* Experience in client and server-side debugging, performance profiling and optimization techniques with an uncanny intuition for finding the cause and solution\n\n* Experience with integration of analytics, a/b testing, and advertising platforms using Google Tag Manager\n\n* Comfortable working with small projects (1 dev) and medium projects (2-3 devs)\n\n* Comfortable in architecting and implementation of APIs in PHP/Laravel, NodeJS/Express and other similar stacks.\n\n* Attention to detail and a seamless user experience.  This means making the product look like the design and working with your team to make it smooth and perfect.\n\n* jQuery is "nice to have" but NOT necessary in your arsenal.  You respect the finer points of the browser rendering pipeline and know when to 3D transform (and when NOT to).  Oh, and calls to GetComputedStyle make you shudder, especially when jQuery is obfuscating them.\n\n* You know your way around configuring a local development environment with help from the Interwebz, of course.\n\n* You have a willingness to express yourself through animated gifs and obscure movie quotes from the youtubes.\n\n* You work well at the 11th hour, but even better at the first and second so we can be out by happy hour.\n\n* You're down with remote work. We've got offices in NY / LA but we encourage working from home, from coffee shops, from wherever you feel most comfortable. We've got tools in place to keep communication going online and we love that we can all be in different parts of the country and work together.\n\n* We constantly improve only because we don't bullshit each other or our clients. We don't hide; we don't say what we think others want to hear. We do our work with respect, and we value truth, transparency, and honesty above all else.\n\n\n\n\nNice to Have:\n\n\n* You have real-world experience with Nuxt, React, or Vue.\n\n* You know what DevOps is but aren't necessarily a zealot for any one process, technology, or denomination.\n\n* Experienced in concepting high-level architectures and codifying them in visual and written documentation\n\n* Experienced with CI / CD build automation tools such as DeployBot, Jenkins, and Travis CI\n\n* Jumping in to assist developers who are in need of aid in implementation and/or troubleshooting of backend or frontend development goals\n\n* Aiding and/or leading bug triage in coordination with Project Manager throughout project and during QA\n\n\n\n\nTo Apply: \n\nIf you are interested, please apply with a resume and introduction. \n\nPlease feel free to skip the formality of a cover letter and write to me as a human being.  If you need to use a four letter word to effectively express a previous engagement or an appropriately inappropriate metaphor to describe your ideal work environment, I’ll take that over what you would think I typically “need to hear” in a job application. Be yourself. The truth is the easiest thing to remember and I don’t have time to weed through cover-letter-speak to find out who you really are and what you want in life. Just tell me.

\nWe are looking to hire an experienced, versatile WordPress developer to lead development of a popular WordPress mobile theme plugin. This is a mature product used by many thousands of sites. Nevertheless, like any product, it requires continuing development to address security issues, bugs, and continue releasing features that address the shifting needs of the WordPress community.\n\nIf you're an experienced WordPress developer, this position may seem a little different. You won't be answering to clients, and you won't be guessing at the wishes of non-technical managers.\n\nInstead, you'll work alongside a remote team of experienced startup founders to create and execute a long-term product development strategy. We have the first 6 months scoped out already, but after that, you will be leading product development and acting as the technical lead and, indeed, the product ambassador!\n\nThis is a flexible part-time position; that is, we expect that the person who fills it is ambitious enough to be working on another projects alongside it.
